Using a bistable oscillator described by a Duffing equation as an example, resonances caused by a biharmonical external force with two different frequencies (the so-called vibrational resonances) are considered. It is shown that, in the case of a weakly damped oscillator, these resonances are conjugate; they occur as either the low and high frequency is varied. In addition, the resonances occur as the amplitude of the high-frequency excitation is varied. It is also shown that the high-frequency action induces the change in the number of stable steady states; these bifurcations are also conjugate, and are the cause of the seeming resonance in an overdamped oscillator.  相似文献

The influences of random disturbances on simultaneous resonances of nonlinear coupling systems are dealt with in this paper. First, the approximate probability distribution of behavior of nonlinear system is presented through using the stochastic averaging method. Secondly, using the Monte Carlo numerical simulation method, we study the above mentioned system. Both conclusions are nearly same. It is confirmed that the stochastic averaging method is one of efficient methods for dealing with nonlinear random vibration problems.  相似文献

We implement the method of multiple scales to investigate primary resonances of a weakly nonlinear second-order delay system with cubic nonlinearities. In contrast to previous studies where the implementation is confined to the assumption of linear delay terms with small coefficients (Hu et al. in Nonlinear Dyn. 15:311, 1998; Ji and Leung in Nonlinear Dyn. 253:985, 2002), in this effort, we propose a modified approach which alleviates that assumption and permits treating a problem with arbitrarily large gains. The modified approach lumps the delay state into unknown linear damping and stiffness terms that are functions of the gain and delay. These unknown functions are determined by enforcing the linear part of the steady-state solution acquired via the method of multiple scales to match that obtained directly by solving the forced linear problem. We examine the validity of the modified procedure by comparing its results to solutions obtained via a harmonic balance approach. Several examples are discussed demonstrating the ability of the proposed methodology to predict the amplitude, softening-hardening characteristics, and stability of the resulting steady-state responses. Analytical results also reveal that the system can exhibit responses with different nonlinear characteristics near its multiple delay frequencies.  相似文献

We analyze isolated resonance curves (IRCs) in single-degree-of-freedom systems possessing nonlinear damping. Through the combination of singularity theory and the averaging method, the onset and merging of IRCs, which coincide to isola and simple bifurcation singularities, respectively, can be analytically predicted. Numerical simulations confirm the accuracy of the analytical developments. Another important finding of this paper is that we unveil a geometrical connection between the topology of the damping force and IRCs. Specifically, we demonstrate that extremas and zeros of the damping force correspond to the appearance and merging of IRCs. Considering a damping force possessing several minima and maxima confirms the general validity of the analytical result. It also evidences a very complex scenario for which different IRCs are created, co-exist and then merge together to form a super IRC which eventually merges with the main resonance peak.  相似文献

The effect of the control structure interaction on the feedforward control law as well as the dynamics of flexible mechanical systems is examined in this investigation. An inverse dynamics procedure is developed for the analysis of the dynamic motion of interconnected rigid and flexible bodies. This method is used to examine the effect of the elastic deformation on the driving forces in flexible mechanical systems. The driving forces are expressed in terms of the specified motion trajectories and the deformations of the elastic members. The system equations of motion are formulated using Lagrange's equation. A finite element discretization of the flexible bodies is used to define the deformation degrees of freedom. The algebraic constraint equations that describe the motion trajectories and joint constraints between adjacent bodies are adjoined to the system differential equations of motion using the vector of Lagrange multipliers. A unique displacement field is then identified by imposing an appropriate set of reference conditions. The effect of the nonlinear centrifugal and Coriolis forces that depend on the body displacements and velocities are taken into consideration. A direct numerical integration method coupled with a Newton-Raphson algorithm is used to solve the resulting nonlinear differential and algebraic equations of motion. The formulation obtained for the flexible mechanical system is compared with the rigid body dynamic formulation. The effect of the sampling time, number of vibration modes, the viscous damping, and the selection of the constrained modes are examined. The results presented in this numerical study demonstrate that the use of the driving forees obtained using the rigid body analysis can lead to a significant error when these forces are used as the feedforward control law for the flexible mechanical system. The analysis presented in this investigation differs significantly from previously published work in many ways. It includes the effect of the structural flexibility on the centrifugal and Coriolis forces, it accounts for all inertia nonlinearities resulting from the coupling between the rigid body and elastic displacements, it uses a precise definition of the equipollent systems of forces in flexible body dynamics, it demonstrates the use of general purpose multibody computer codes in the feedforward control of flexible mechanical systems, and it demonstrates numerically the effect of the selected set of constrained modes on the feedforward control law.  相似文献

Summary Ways of effectively applying asynchronous excitations to nonlinear systems are studied in spite of complexity of the system behavior caused by two excitations with asynchronous frequencies. The operation of suppressing primary resonances for vibro-machines by adding another asynchronous excitation to the main systems is shown. A new property, namely that resonant amplitudes are perfectly suppressed at some partial-frequency intervals and at one wide-frequency interval, was recognized in the systems with piecemeal linear characteristics under the action of both parametric and forcing excitations. The phenomena are different from reduction of whole resonance curves occurring in systems with continuous nonlinearity.

Übersicht Der Weg einer wirksamen Verwendung einer asynchronen Erregung für nichtlineare Systeme wird trotz der Kompliziertheit des Systemverhaltens bei zwei Erregungen mit asynchronen Frequenzen studiert. Die Unterdrückung primärer Resonanzen von Schwingungs-maschinen beim Zusatz einer asynchronen Eregung zum Hauptsystem wird gezeigt. Die neue Eigenschaft, daß die Resonanzamplituden in einigen partiellen Frequenzregionen und einen weiten Frequenzbereich perfekt unterdrückt werden, wurde für Systeme mit stückweise linearer Charakteristik und simultaner Parameter- und Fremderregung gezeigt. Die Phänomene sind verschieden von der Verringerung ganzer Resonanzkurven in kontinuierlichen nichtlinearen Systemen.

In this paper, we study and compare performance and robustness of linear and nonlinear Lanchester dampers. The linear Lanchester damper consists of a small mass attached to a primary system through a linear dashpot, whereas the nonlinear Lanchester damper is linked to the primary mass through dry friction forces. In each case, we propose a semi-analytical method for computing the frequency response, for different values of the design parameters, in order to evaluate the performance and robustness of the two kinds of damper. Overall, it is shown that linear Lanchester dampers perform better than nonlinear damper both in terms of attenuation and robustness. Moreover, the nonlinear frequency response curves, that include the intrinsic non-smooth nature of the friction force, may serve as reference curve for further numerical studies.

The work analyzes energy relations for nonholonomic systems, whose motion is restricted by nonlinear nonholonomic constraints. For the mechanical systems with linear constraints, the analysis of energy relations was carried out in [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6] …. On the basis of corresponding Lagrange’s equations, a general law of the change in energy dε/dt is formulated for mentioned systems by the help of which it is shown that there are two types of the laws of conservation of energy, depending on the structure of elementary work of the forces of constraint reactions. Also, the condition for existing the second type of the law of conservation of energy is formulated in the form of the system of partial differential equations. The obtained results are illustrated by a model of nonholonomic mechanical system.  相似文献
