Effective adsorption of Sr(II) onto H2O2-modified attapulgite in aqueous solution was investigated about kinetics and isothermal equilibrium adsorption. The adsorption equilibrium process of Sr(II) on adsorbents reached about 8 h at 40 °C. The adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second order equation and the isothermal adsorption data were fit well with the Langmuir isotherm model. The enhanced adsorption mechanism of H2O2-modified attapulgite for Sr(II) in aqueous solution was expatiated in detail. The H2O2 treatment for attapulgite is effective and as-made adsorbents can be applied for removal of Sr(II) in radioactive waste water.

Recently, MoS2 with abundant electron density in its structure attracted more attention as an adsorbent for environmental remediation. However, hard manipulation of target solution owing to high dispersibility in aqueous media restricts its application as adsorbent. Preparation of Fe3O4/MoS2 nanohybrid can solve this problem. Also, this nanohybrid improves adsorption capacities of target ions. In this work, Fe3O4 nanoparticles, MoS2 nanosheets and hybrid of these two were synthesised and then characterised by X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transforms infrared spectra, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area and vibrating sample magnetometer. Subsequently, adsorption of Ag(I) and Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution by these three adsorbents was examined in detail and compared with each other while the adsorption conditions including the pH value, contact time, dosage of sorbent, elution conditions and interfering ions have been optimised. According to obtained results, prepared nanohybrid showed enhanced adsorption capacities for both ions relative to naked Fe3O4 and MoS2. The limits of detection for Ag(I) and Pb(II) were calculated as 0.49 µg L?1 and 2.7 µg L?1, respectively, and the relative standard deviation percentages (n = 5) for Ag(I) and Pb(II) were 2.8%, and 3.0%, respectively. Furthermore, the preconcentration factors were 300 and 75 for Ag(I) and Pb(II) ions, respectively. Moreover, kinetic studies showed that pseudo-second-order model can better describe target analytes adsorption properties by every three adsorbents. Regeneration of the adsorbents was performed with HCl/thiourea mixture.  相似文献

In this study, the performance of modified adsorbents obtained from activated carbon for the adsorption of thorium(IV) ions from aqueous media was investigated. The analytical and spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR, BET, SEM and UV–Vis were used to examine the properties of the modified materials. According to the analysis results, the both adsorbents had large surface areas after modification. Then, temperature, pH, mixing time and solution concentration parameters were observed to determine optimum thorium adsorption conditions on modified materials. The obtained results from the experiments were applied different three kinetic models and adsorption isotherms and thermodynamic parameters were calculated and then all of the results were interpreted. The adsorption process for both adsorption systems was observed to be compatible with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption equilibrium data were best described by the Langmuir model for modified adsorbent with KMnO4 and by the Freundlich model for modified adsorbent with NaOH. Furthermore, the calculated thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS°) showed that the both adsorption processes were endothermic and spontaneous. The data show that modified adsorbents can be used as influential and low-cost adsorbents to remove thorium ion. Modified new adsorbents were highly selective for thorium ion in competitive adsorption studies.

This study was designed to prepare the sugarcane bagasse (SB) composite with polyaniline (PAn), polypyrrole (Ppy) and sodium alginate (NaA) and employed as an adsorbent for the adsorptive removal of herbicide (2,4-dicholorophenoxyacetic acid, 2,4-D). Fabricated composites were characterized by SEM and FTIR techniques. The affecting variables, i.e., temperature, contact time, initial herbicide concentration, medium pH and adsorbent dose were studied in batch mode. Different isotherms were employed on the adsorption data and the maximum adsorption capacity of SB was recorded to be 77.75 mg/g at pH 3.0, 150 mg/L 2,4-D initial concentration at 30 °C. The models (pseudo-second-order and Freundlich) best explained the adsorption experimental data with R2 values ≥ 0.90 and ≥ 0.96, respectively. The thermodynamics parameters (ΔG, ΔH, and ΔS) were computed and the herbicide adsorption onto the composites was an exothermic and spontaneous process. Results revealed that sugarcane bagasse composites with PAn, Ppy, and NaA are efficient adsorbents, which could be used for the remediation of 2,4-D in the effluents.  相似文献

A novel biodegradable adsorbent called pyrolysed empty fruit bunch fibres (PEF) was prepared by chemo-physical activation of empty fruit bunch fibres (EFB) biochar for removal of cibacron blue 3G-A (CB) dye from aqueous solution. PEF was characterized using FTIR, SEM-EDX, XRD and BET techniques. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms indicated PEF’s surface area to be 362.84 m2g−1 and XRD attributed amorphous nature to PEF. After adsorption process, PEF has smoother surface morphology, increase in carbon by weight and shift in functional groups. The established adsorption optimum conditions were pH 10, 45 min contact time and 0.10 g/100 mL adsorbent dosage with 99.05% CB dye removal capacity at 343 K and initial dye concentration 100 mg/L. Desorption ratio >90% after seventh cycle of adsorption-desorption experiments confirmed high reusability (regeneration) of PEF. Pseudo second order kinetic and Freundlich were better fitted with kinetic and isotherm model respectively, while mechanism of adsorption was controlled by film diffusion (external mass transfer). Thermodynamic studied revealed ΔG, ΔS and ΔH to be −3.12 MJ/mol K, 9.11 kJ/mol K, 6.83 kJ/mol respectively at 343 K. The negative value of ΔG, positive values of ΔS and ΔH indicated spontaneity, feasibility and endothermic nature of CB dye adsorption from aqueous solution onto PEF.  相似文献

This research presents aqueous colloidal method to synthesize CdZnS/ZnS surface modified core/shell quantum dots (QDs) with capping agents 2-mercaptoacetic acid and 3-mercaptopropanoic acid. The QDs were characterized by the different analytical techniques. Using Plackett–Burman and Central composite designs, optimum conditions for the removal of Pb(II) from aqueous medium were developed: QDs (0.013 g) at pH 6.9, time of adsorption and desorption (20 min), temperature (61.1 °C) and dilution on 100 ppb standard solutions. Moreover, Freundlich models suggested that Pb(II) adsorption was favorable on the heterogeneous surface of QDs. The values of ΔG° and ΔH° (?59.26 KJ/mol.K) suggested the process was spontaneous and exothermic. The negative ΔS° (?0.16 KJ/mol.K) indicates that the Pb(II) chemisorb on QDs. While, system follows the pseudo-second order rate equation which indicates that rate limiting step involves chemical reaction and could be influenced by the intraparticle/pore diffusion of Pb(II) ions with QDs. By using atomic absorption spectrophotometer, developed method was tested for Pb(II) removal from tap and ground water samples taken from the different districts of Karachi City. The % recovery for Pb(II) was found to be 96.4 % (tap water) and 94.8 % (ground water) with LOD = 0.1 ng mL?1 and LOQ = 0.90 ng mL?1.  相似文献

Abstract

Inorganic–organic hybrid cyclomatrix type polyphosphazene microspheres (poly[cyclotriphosphazene-co-(4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane)]) (HDMS) and poly[cyclotetraphosphazene-co-4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane)] (ODMS) were prepared to investigate their possible use as alternative adsorbents for the comparative study on Pb(II) ions removal from aqueous solutions. The structures of the microspheres were elucidated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) measurements, and the surface morphologies were also observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The adsorption of Pb(II) ions onto HDMS and ODMS from aqueous solutions was examined by means of pH, temperature, contact time and concentration. Furthermore, adsorption kinetics and isotherm models were applied and the experimental data fitted well with Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The maximum adsorption capacities of HDMS and ODMS for Pb(II) ions were obtained as 157.8 and 308.0?mg g?1 at 20?°C and pH 5.5, respectively.  相似文献

The composite adsorbent prepared by mixing of polyacrylonitrile and clinoptilolite was used for investigating the adsorption behaviour of 226Ra in column system. The effective parameters like initial activity concentration, pH of the solution, contact time and temperature for adsorption behaviour of 226Ra were studied. Adsorption efficiency of 226Ra on composite adsorbent from aqueous solution was determined to 98.73 ± 0.59 % at pH 5.0 and 30 °C in a short time. The isotherm models were studied to evaluated adsorption characteristics of 226Ra onto composite adsorbent. The thermodynamic parameters were showing that the processes for 226Ra were exothermic. Adsorption kinetics of the radium is also studied.

A novel composite adsorbent, silica aerogel activated carbon was synthesized by sol-gel process at ambient pressure drying method. The composite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms (BET).In the present study, the mentioned adsorbent was used moderately for the removal of cadmium ions from aqueous solutions and was compared with two other adsorbents of cadmium, activated carbon and silica aerogel. The experiments of Cd adsorption by adsorbents were performed at different initial ion concentrations, pH of the solution, adsorption temperature, adsorbent dosage and contact time. Moreover, the optimum pH for the adsorption was found to be 6.0 with the corresponding adsorbent dosage level of 0.1 g at 60 °C temperature. Subsequently, the equilibrium was achieved for Cd with 120 min of contact time.Consequently, the results show that using this composite adsorbent could remove more than 60% of Cd under optimum experimental conditions. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm model was applied to analyze the data, in which the adsorption equilibrium data were correlated well with the Freundlich isotherm model and the equilibrium adsorption capacity (qe) was found to be 0.384 mg/g in the 3 mg/L solution of cadmium.  相似文献

Applications of a hybrid material consisting of polyacrylamide (PAA) and Xylidyl Blue (XB) for the removal of uranyl ions from aqueous solutions has been investigated with all details. Adsorption experiments were performed at batch mode and constant temperature. Experimental parameters affecting adsorption process such as pH, initial uranyl concentration, time and temperature were studied on the removal of the uranyl ions. The isotherms assays were carried out with synthetic solutions and adsorption data were evaluated by using Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) isotherm models. Morphological and chemical characterizations of new synthesized material were investigated by UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy and SEM/EDX techniques and pHpzc experiments. The results of the kinetic experiments are consistent with pseudo-second-order models and intra-particle diffusion models with a slightly better fit to the latter. Equilibrium was achieved within 3 h. The value of rate constant for adsorption process was calculated as 1.055 mol−1 kg min−1 at 318 K. The calculated thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS°) indicated that the adsorption of uranyl ions onto XB@PAA was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic nature under the studied temperature. The developed material has also a potential as a sensor because its color turn from pink to red by adsorption of uranyl ions.  相似文献

This work focuses on the removal of lead from contaminated aqueous solutions using unripe papaya peel based bio-adsorbents (PP). Response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box-Behnken design (BBD) is employed to determine the independent variables. Optimum conditions proved to be 96.5 mg/L of initial lead concentration in solution, at pH 4 of aqueous solution, having adsorbent dosage of 14.6 g/L and contact time (3 h) which subsequently yielded the predicted and actual lead removal efficiencies of 100% and 97.54%, respectively. Adsorption isotherms and kinetics of lead adsorption using unripe papaya peel followed the Freundlich and pseudo-second-order models, indicating that the process of chemisorption occurred. The magnitude of the adsorption capacity of the pseudo-second-order model (qe,cal = 6.25 mg/g) was found to be comparable to the value obtained experimentally (qe,cal = 6.45 mg/g). Thermodynamic parameters were calculated in order to identify the phenomena of adsorption. The values of Δ and Δ are found to be 13.61 J/mol and 54.30 J/mol?K, respectively. The characteristics of unripe papaya peel bio-adsorbents, analyzed via SEM/EDX, FTIR and BET, are also presented. Thus, the O-H and C-O functional groups contained in the unripe papaya peel waste were found to effectively adsorb lead from the aqueous medium. The average pore diameters, average pore volumes and average surface area of bio-adsorbents prepared from unripe papaya peel waste proved to be 9.046 nm, 0.0012 cm3/g and 0.755 m2/g, respectively.  相似文献

The development of innovative clean-up technologies remains a challenge as current procedures have many limitations, such as being expensive, concentration or pollutant specific, and many others. Natural zeolite of clinoptilolite type was beneficiated with surfactant octadecylammonium and alginate biopolymers using the sol-gel method. Carbonization process in pyrolysis chamber combusted organic waste materials and reaching the maximum temperature of 700°C was used for the surface carbonization, respectively. Resulted zeolite based products were analyzed by FTIR, TG, DTA and examined on the selected aqueous pollutants removal using the conventional laboratory adsorption experiments. The ability of ODA and alginate linked zeolite of clinoptilolite type to form complexes with anions (such as nitrate, sulphate, chloride and phosphate) and to remove them from contaminated waters was validated. Carbon deposition onto clinoptilolite surface originated from the pyrolytic carbon-rich waste combustion simulated the new zeolite based hybrid to active coke, adsorption efficiency of which towards phenol was approved. Thermogravimetric analyses of the advanced zeolite-based adsorbents were accomplished to find out how temperature resistant are the novel zeolite based materials in respect to the original, untreated one. While the native clinoptilolite indicated according to DTA analysis one broad endothermic response around 100–130°C, resulted from the loss of adsorbed water, by the ODA-modified clinoptilolite was except this DTA peak, the broad exothermic response started from 370 up to 560°C observed. This DTA profile is assumed to record a slowly breakdown of attached ODA surfactant and sequential loss of mass due to continual heating of sample under elevated temperature.  相似文献

The adsorption of U(VI) onto dried and pyrolyzed tea and coffee wastes was investigated. The adsorption properties of the materials were characterized by measuring uranium uptake as a function of solution pH, kinetics and adsorption isotherms. pH profile of uranium adsorption where UO2 2+ is expected to be the predominant species was measured between pH 0 and 4. Both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were used to describe adsorption equilibria, and corresponding constants evaluated. Using the Langmuir model, the maximum adsorption capacity of uranium by dried tea and coffee wastes was 59.5 and 34.8 mg/g, respectively at 291 K. Adsorption thermodynamic constants, ΔH° ΔS° and ΔG° were also calculated from adsorption data obtained at three different temperatures. Adsorption thermodynamics of uranyl ions on dried tea and coffee systems indicated spontaneous and endothermic processes. Additionally, a Lagergren pseudo-second-order kinetic model was used to fit the kinetic experimental data for both adsorbents and the constants evaluated. Dried tea and coffee wastes proved to be effective adsorbents with high capacities and significant advantage of a very low cost.  相似文献

A novel g‐C3N4/MnO2 composite was prepared by in situ deposition of MnO2 on graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) nanosheets, and its adsorption properties were evaluated for removal of Pb (II) in aqueous. Fourier transform‐infrared, spectrometer scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy characterization showed the g‐C3N4/MnO2 composite had a two‐dimensional/two‐dimensional (2D/2D) structure with ample active sites. The Brunauer–Emmett–Teller specific surface area of g‐C3N4/MnO2 composites (234.9 m2/g) was 13.5 times larger than that of g‐C3N4 (17.37 m2/g), providing better conditions for adsorption. The adsorption kinetic data were better fitted with the pseudo‐second‐order model. The Langmuir model was more suitable for describing the experimental equilibrium data of g‐C3N4/MnO2, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 204.1 mg/g for Pb (II). The adsorption of g‐C3N4/MnO2 composite for Pb (II) was an endothermic and spontaneous process, and reached adsorption equilibrium rapidly within initial 150 min. This composite was an excellent adsorbent because of its higher adsorption capacity and facile preparation progress.  相似文献

Adsorption of fluoride ion was done from its aqueous solution by using maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles. Effects of the major independent variables (temperature, adsorbent dose and pH) and their interactions during fluoride ion adsorption were determined by response surface methodology (RSM) based on three-level three-factorial Box–Behnken design (BBD). Optimized values of temperature, maghemite nanoparticle dose and pH for fluoride sorption were found as 313 K, 0.5 g/L, and 4, respectively. In order to investigate the mechanism of fluoride removal, various adsorption isotherms such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Florry–Huggins were fitted. The experimental data revealed that the Langmuir isotherm gave a more satisfactory fit for fluoride removal. The adsorption process was rapid and obeyed pseudo-second-order kinetics. The values of thermodynamic parameters ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° indicated that adsorption was spontaneous and endothermic in nature.  相似文献

In this study, clinoptilolite as a natural zeolite which was magnetized using precipitation of maghemite nanoparticles was coated by chitosan and then modified by thylenediamine tetra-acetic acid to add functional groups and its performance in the removal of toxic methylene blue from aqueous solution was investigated. Synthesized magnetic nanocomposite was characterized by VSM, XRD, SEM, and FTIR analyses. The saturation magnetization of the final nanocomposite was obtained as 22.2 emu/g. In addition, the factors affecting adsorption process and its optimization were investigated using response surface methodology and central composite design. Data obtained by different isotherm, adsorption kinetic and thermodynamic models were also studied. The results showed good agreement of these data with the Freundlich isotherm model (R 2 = 0.99), and it was found that adsorption follows the second-order kinetics model (R 2 = 1). Negative values of ΔG and positive values of ΔH obtained from this adsorption thermodynamic study revealed that the methylene blue adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous. The optimum conditions to ensure maximum adsorption efficiency were determined, and included pH = 5.54, adsorbent amount of 0.03 g, temperature of 31.18 °C, and initial solution concentration of 16.21 mg/l which resulted in a removal efficiency of 99.44%. The results indicated that this nanocomposite can be used as a proper adsorbent for adsorbing methylene blue and other dye contaminants.  相似文献

Dye wastewater from industries is posing tremendous health hazards. The lethal dyes can be eliminated using nanomaterials and scientific approach like adsorption which is facile, cheap, safe as well as ecofriendly. Fe3O4-CuO-AC composite was prepared by a hydrothermal method and used for the removal of dyes in wastewater. The composite material was characterized by various techniques such as XRD, SEM, EDS, TEM and FT-IR. The Fe3O4-CuO-AC composite was used to treat five types of dyes in water. Fe3O4-CuO-AC composite showed the highest adsorption capability for bromophenol blue (BPB) dye. The effects of initial concentration, pH, the amount of adsorbent and temperature were also studied. The optimum conditions were found to be 20 ppm dye concentration, pH 9, an adsorbent dose of 0.06 gL─1 at 65 °C. A removal efficiency of 97% was obtained for BPB dye during 120 min of adsorption. Kinetic studies indicated that a pseudo-second order is the most suitable model for the adsorption process. The Fe3O4-CuO-AC composite showed better adsorption capacity as compare to Fe3O4-AC except for the Methyl green dye. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 88.60 mg/g for BPB. Additionally, the thermodynamic parameters (Δ, Δ and Δ) showed that the process was spontaneous and exothermic. All the above results revealed that the Fe3O4-CuO-AC compositecan be an effective adsorbent for removing dyes from wastewater.  相似文献

Nanostructured spinel-type M(M = Mg, Co, Zn)Cr2O4 oxides with novel adsorbents for aqueous Congo red removal were synthesized by a polyacrylamide gel method and studied for their phase structure, microstructure, adsorption performance, and multiferroic behavior. The phase structure and purity analysis revealed that the nanostructured spinel-type M(M = Mg, Co, Zn)Cr2O4 oxides presented a spinel-type cubic structure, and the formation of a secondary phase such as Cr2O3, MgO, ZnO, or Co3O4 was not observed. The microstructure characterization confirmed that the spinel-type MCr2O4 oxides grew from fine spherical particles to large rhomboid particles. Adsorption experiments of spinel-type MCr2O4 oxides for adsorption of Congo red dye were fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetics. The adsorption capacity of the ZnCr2O4 oxide (44.038 mg/g, pH 7, temperature 28 °C, initial dye concentration 30 mg/L) was found to be higher than that of MgCr2O4 oxide (43.592 mg/g, pH 7, temperature 28 °C) and CoCr2O4 oxide (28.718 mg/g, pH 7, temperature 28 °C). The effects of initial adsorbent concentration, initial dye concentration, pH, and temperature between the ZnCr2O4 oxide and Congo red dye at which optimal removal occurs, were performed. The thermodynamic studies confirmed that a high temperature favors the adsorption of Congo red dye onto ZnCr2O4 oxide studied. The nanostructured spinel-type M(M = Mg, Co, Zn)Cr2O4 oxides that exhibited high adsorption performance for adsorption of Congo red dye can be ascribed to the synergistic effect of electrostatic interaction, pore filling, and ion exchange. The present work suggested that the nanostructured spinel-type M(M = Mg, Co, Zn)Cr2O4 oxides have excellent adsorption performance and multiferroic behavior, which shows potential applications for removal of the Congo red dye from wastewater, magnetic memory recording media, magnetic sensor, energy collection and conversion device, and read/write memory.  相似文献

Summary Adsorption properties of NH4-clinoptilolite, thermally treated at 400, 550 and 650°C, were investigated by gas-solid chromatography. Adsorption of ten hydrocarbons, including aliphatic, alicyclic, chlorinated and aromatic compounds is discussed in the light of adsorbate-adsorbent interactions. The imporatant thermodynamic parameters of adsorption are determined. A detailed discussion is presented on the alteration of the surface properties of NH4-clinoptilolite caused by thermal treatment. Experimental data obtained show that NH4-clinoptilolite treated at 650°C can be successfully employed as a column packing in analytical gassolid chromatography.  相似文献

This study evaluates the adsorption of diazinon from aqueous solutions onto coconut shell-modified biochar using a batch system. The amount of dosage and initial pH are the main parameters being studied to obtain maximum adsorption capacity of the probe molecules. The carbonized coconut shell biochar (BC1), activated coconut shell biochar (BC2), chemically modified phosphoric acid (BC3) and sodium hydroxide coconut shell biochar (BC4) were prepared and tested as variables in the adsorption experiment. The characteristic of biochar via SEM, EDX and BET analysis revealed the large porous of surface morphology and slight changes in the composition with high surface area (405.97 – 508.07 m2/g) by following the sequence of BC3 > BC2 > BC4. Diazinon removal percentage as high as 98.96% was achieved at pH 7 with BC3 as adsorbent dosing at 5.0 g/L. The high coefficient of determination, R2 with a small value of ERRSQ and χ2 error analysis present the BC1 (0.9971) and BC2 (0.9999) are best fitted with Freundlich isotherm indicates multilayer sorption onto heterogeneous surface whereby the Langmuir isotherm model is the best fitting is described of monolayer adsorption process onto the homogenous surface of BC3 and BC4. The results indicated the maximum adsorption capacity (qm) was achieved by BC3 with 10.33 mg/g, followed by BC2 (9.65 mg/g) in accordance to the Langmuir isotherm while Freundlich isotherm showed the highest adsorption capacity (kF) with 1.73 mg/g (L/mg)1/n followed by BC4 with 0.63 mg/g (L/mg)1/n at favorable adsorption isotherm (1 ≤ n ≤ 10). Thus, the results obtained depicted that BC2 and BC3 are highly efficient adsorbents and both exhibit great potential in removing diazinon from aqueous solutions.  相似文献
