Stable radical cations of dimeric amino acid derivatives of tryptophan and tyrosine were generated by collision-induced dissociation of [Cu(II)(diethylenetriamine)(amino acid derivative)2]*2+. The yields of the dimer radical cations were dependent on both the auxiliary ligand and the tryptophan or tyrosine derivatives used. Amino acid derivatives with an unmodified carboxylic acid group did not generate dimer radical cations. For the amino acid derivatives Ac-Trp-OMe and Ac-Trp-NH2 (Ac is N-acetyl; OMe and NH2 are the methyl ester and amide modifications of the C-terminal carboxylic group), no auxiliary ligand was required for generating the dimer radical cations. Collision-induced dissociation of the [Cu(II)(amino acid derivative)4]*2+ precursor generated the dimer radical cation [(amino acid derivative)2]*+. Stabilizing interactions, most likely involving hydrogen bonding, between the two amino acid derivatives are proposed to account for observation of the dimer radical cations. Dissociation of these ions yields protonated or radical cationic amino acid derivatives; these observations are consistent with the expectation of proton competition between monomeric units, whose proton affinities were calculated using density functional theory.  相似文献

ions generated from a number of different presursors have been studied by high kinetie energy ion—molecule reations. It has been shown that at least four distinct stable species oeeur, of which acetonitrile and methyl isoeyanide retain their original structure. With imidazole or pyrazole as precursors, a mixture of open thain radical cations, not identical to the above species and probably interconvertible via the 1H-azirine radocal cation, is formed. From butrynitrile, pyrrole, crotonitrile, allyl interconvertible via the and cyanocyopropane a fourth species, probably the vinylidenimine ion, is formed.  相似文献

Organic halides represent basic starting materials for numerous metal-catalyzed organic transformations. Generally, the carbon-halogen is broken in the first step, that is, an oxidative addition reaction, of the catalytic cycle. On the other hand, very little is known about the reverse reaction, carbon-halogen reductive elimination from a transition-metal center. In this Concept article, we describe the examples of C(sp(3))-halide and C(sp(2))-halide reductive-elimination reactions which demonstrate that this type of reactivity can be quite common in organometallic chemistry. Although the thermodynamic driving force for the formation of carbon-halogen bonds is relatively small, the kinetic barrier for these reactions can also be low. Thus, C-halide reductive elimination can compete favorably with the more established organic transformations, such as C-C reductive elimination.  相似文献

The intramolecular hydrogen atom abstraction by the nitrogen atom in isolated aliphatic amine radical cations is examined experimentally and with composite high-level ab initio methods of the G3 family. The magnitude of the enthalpy barriers toward H-atom transfer varies with the shape and size of the cyclic transition state and with the degree of substitution at the nitrogen and carbon atoms involved. The lower barriers are found for 1,5- and 1,6-abstraction, for chairlike transition states, for abstraction reactions in ionized primary amines, and for abstraction of H from tertiary carbon atoms. In most cases, the internal energy required for 1,4-, 1,5-, and 1,6-hydrogen atom abstraction to occur is less than that required for gas-phase fragmentation by simple cleavage of C-C bonds, which explains why H-atom transfer can be reversible and result in extensive H/D exchange prior to the fragmentation of many low-energy deuterium labeled ionized amines. The H-atom transfer to nitrogen is exothermic for primary amine radical cations and endothermic for tertiary amines. It gives rise to a variety of distonic radical cations, and these may undergo further isomerization. The heat of formation of the gauche conformers of the gamma-, delta-, and epsilon-distonic isomers is up to 25 kJ mol(-1) lower than that of the corresponding trans forms, which is taken to reflect C-H-N hydrogen bonding between the protonated amino group and the alkyl radical site.  相似文献

The thermochemical acid/base properties of the six dihydroxybenzoic acids (x,y-DHB) as prototypical matrices used in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) have been investigated. The ground-state gas-phase basicities (GB) of the six DHB isomers and the gas-phase acidities (deltaG acid) of the corresponding radical cations ([x,y-DHB]*+) have been determined by Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry employing the thermokinetic method. The gas-phase basicities vary from 814 kJ mol-1 for the least basic isomer, 3,5-DHB, to 831 kJ mol-1 for the most basic isomer, 2,4-DHB. The obtained gas-phase acidities of the corresponding radical cations vary from 815 kJ mol-1 for the most acidic species, 3,4-DHB, to 858 kJ mol-1 for the least acidic one, 2,5-DHB. The results indicate that ground-state proton transfer from the matrix radical cations to the analyte may play a role in the ionization process of MALDI, whereas proton transfer from protonated matrix molecules can be excluded.  相似文献

The gas-phase ozonolysis of beta-pinene was studied in static chamber experiments, using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometric and flame ionisation detection to separate and detect products. A range of multifunctional organic acids-including pinic acid, norpinic acid, pinalic-3-acid, pinalic-4-acid, norpinalic acid and OH-pinalic acid-were identified in the condensed phase after derivatisation. Formation yields for these products under systematically varying reaction conditions (by adding different OH radical scavengers and Criegee intermediate scavengers) were investigated and compared with those observed from alpha-pinene ozonolysis, allowing detailed information on product formation mechanisms to be elucidated. In addition, branching ratios for the initial steps of the reaction were inferred from quantitative measurements of primary carbonyl formation. Atmospheric implications of this work are discussed.  相似文献

The origin bands of the A 2Pi-X 2Pi electronic transition for three new linear polyacetylene cation chains, HC12H+, HC14H+, and HC16H+, have been recorded in the gas phase at approximately 30 K, located at 924.7, 1034.6, and 1144.0 nm. The absorption spectra were observed using a two-color two-photon ion-photodissociation experiment that utilizes the cooling capabilities of a 22-pole ion trap. Such spectra allow a direct comparison between laboratory and astrophysical data; however, no matches were found between the experimentally determined origin bands and the known diffuse interstellar bands.  相似文献

The synthesis of the first trifluoromethanesulfonate esters of the type CF3SO3(CH2)nO3SCF3 (n=1,2,3) are reported. The new compounds are prepared from Cl(CH2)nCl by substitutive electrophilic dehalogenation reactions with CF3SO2OX (x=Cl,Br). The extension of this reaction to HCCl3 results in HC(O3SCF3)3 but the compound is unstable at 22°.  相似文献

We present gas-phase infrared spectra of tantalum cluster cations containing 6-20 atoms. Infrared multiple photon dissociation of their complexes with argon atoms is used to obtain vibrational spectra in the region between 90 and 305 cm(-1). Many spectra have features in common with the vibrational spectra of the lighter homologs, vanadium and niobium, pointing to a common cluster growth mechanism.  相似文献

Specific features of the reaction of radical cations of 2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS+) with mono-and multialyers of a polyphenol (tannic acid) and polycations (polyallylamine hydrochloride or dimethyldiallylammonium chloride), formed by layer-by-layer deposition, were studied. The antioxidant properties of tannic acid are preserved in the multilayers, and the kinetic features of the reaction of ABTS+ with tannic acid depend on the film “architecture.”  相似文献

Laser and steady-state photolysis, sensitized by NMQ+, of PhSCH(R)X 1-4 (R = H, Ph; X =SiMe3, CO2H) was carried out in CH3CN. The formation of 1+*-4+* was clearly shown. All radical cations undergo a fast first-order fragmentation reaction involving C-Si bond cleavage with 1+* and 2+* and C-C bond cleavage with 3+* and 4+*. The desilylation reaction of 1+* and 2+* was nucleophilically assisted, and the decarboxylation rates of 3+* and 4+* increased in the presence of H2O. A deuterium kinetic isotope effect of 2.0 was observed when H2O was replaced by D2O. Pyridines too were found to accelerate the decarboxylation rate of 3+* and 4+*. The rate increase, however, was not a linear function of the base concentration, but a plateau was reached. A fast and reversible formation of a H-bonded complex between the radical cation and the base is suggested, which undergoes C-C bond cleavage. It is probable that the H-bond complex undergoes first a rate determining proton-coupled electron transfer forming a carboxyl radical that then loses CO2. The steady-state photolysis study showed that PhSCH3 was the exclusive product formed from 1 and 3 whereas [PhS(Ph)CH-]2 was the only product with 3 and 4.  相似文献

Hydrogen molecules cannot be formed readily by the association of gaseous hydrogen atoms. Possible H(2) formation mediated by the radical cations of typical polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), anthracene and pyrene, was studied at the B3LYP/6-31G** level of theory. We presumed that H(2) is formed by way of two elementary reactions: the addition of an H atom to a PAH molecular cation, and the H abstraction from the resulting monohydro-PAH cation (i.e., arenium ion) by a second H atom to yield H(2). The first reaction takes place without any activation energy. The second reaction is also predicted to proceed along almost barrierless pathways, although it is far from being a typical ion-molecule reaction. There is a possibility that these reactions might constitute one of the mechanisms for H(2) formation in extremely cold interstellar space. Deuterium enrichment in PAH cations is possibly accompanied by such H(2) formation because deuteration lowers the energies of polyatomic PAH cations appreciably.  相似文献

The varying stabilities of certain aminoindole radical cations toward oxidation with molecular oxygen have been studied. Oxidation leads to different products depending upon the environment around the N-amino nitrogen. A plausible reaction mechanism is proposed based on electronic and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.  相似文献

Ab initio molecular orbital calculations with split-valence plus polarization basis sets and incorporating electron correlation and zero-point energy corrections have been used to examine possible equilibrium structures on the [C2H7N]+˙ surface. In addition to the radical cations of ethylamine and dimethylamine, three other isomers were found which have comparable energy, but which have no stable neutral counterparts. These are \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm .} {\rm H}_{\rm 2} {\rm CH}_{\rm 2} \mathop {\rm N}\limits^{\rm + } {\rm H}_{\rm 3} $\end{document}, \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH}_{\rm 3} \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm .} {\rm H}\mathop {\rm N}\limits^{\rm + } {\rm H}_{\rm 3} $\end{document}and\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH}_{\rm 3} \mathop {\rm N}\limits^{\rm + } {\rm H}_{\rm 2} \mathop {\rm C}\limits^. {\rm H}_{\rm 2} {\rm }, $\end{document} with calculated energies relative to the ethylamine radical cation of ?33, ?28 and 4 kJ mol?1, respectively. Substantial barriers for rearrangement among the various isomers and significant binding energies with respect to possible fragmentation products are found. The reaction of enantiomerically enriched 2-methyl-2-nitro-3-(diphenylphosphatoxy)alkyl radicals with tributyltin hydride and AIBN in benzene at reflux results in the formation of alkene radical cation/anion pairs, which are trapped intramolecularly by amine nucleophiles, leading to pyrrolidine and piperidine systems with memory of stereochemistry. The scope and limitations of the system are explored with respect to nucleophile, leaving group, and substituents within the substrate backbone.  相似文献

Hydrogen-bridged radical cations (HBRCs) are an intriguing subclass of ion-molecule complexes. They may act as key intermediates of remarkable stability in both association and dissociation reactions of heteroatom-containing molecular ions. The H-bridge of such an HBRC can promote isomerization of its ionic component by H-transfer. Proton-transport catalysis (PTC) is a prime example. Here, a neutral molecule promotes the smooth transformation of an ion into its H-shift isomer by consecutive proton-transfer reactions. A celebrated case is the water catalyzed isomerization of CH(3)OH(?+) into its more stable distonic isomer (?)CH(2)OH(2)(+). Other early studies of PTC also deal with catalyzing 1,2-H shifts in association reactions. This short review focuses on more recent combined experimental and computational studies of catalysis in HBRCs. Mechanisms involving both proton and H atom transfers have been proposed for a variety of systems of H-shift isomers. It has also become clear that PTC is not confined to bimolecular reactions. It also features in the unimolecular chemistry of heteroatom- containing ions, which have a tendency to isomerize to HBRCs en route to their dissociation.  相似文献

Rate constants for heterolytic fragmentation of beta-(ester)alkyl radicals were determined by a combination of direct laser flash photolysis studies and indirect kinetic studies. The 1,1-dimethyl-2-mesyloxyhexyl radical (4a) fragments in acetonitrile at ambient temperature with a rate constant of k(het) > 5 x 10(9) s(-1) to give the radical cation from 2-methyl-2-heptene (6), which reacts with acetonitrile with a pseudo-first-order rate constant of k = 1 x 10(6) s(-1) and is trapped by methanol in acetonitrile in a reversible reaction. The 1,1-dimethyl-2-(diphenylphosphatoxy)hexyl radical (4b) heterolyzes in acetonitrile to give radical cation 6 in an ion pair with a rate constant of k(het) = 4 x 10(6) s(-1), and the ion pair collapses with a rate constant of k < or = 1 x 10(9) s(-1). Rate constants for heterolysis of the 1,1-dimethyl-2-(2,2-diphenylcyclopropyl)-2-(diphenylphosphatoxy)ethyl radical (5a) and the 1,1-dimethyl-2-(2,2-diphenylcyclopropyl)-2-(trifluoroacetoxy)ethyl radical (5b) were measured in various solvents, and an Arrhenius function for reaction of 5a in THF was determined (log k = 11.16-5.39/2.3RT in kcal/mol). The cyclopropyl reporter group imparts a 35-fold acceleration in the rate of heterolysis of 5a in comparison to 4b. The combined results were used to generate a predictive scale for heterolysis reactions of alkyl radicals containing beta-mesyloxy, beta-diphenylphosphatoxy, and beta-trifluoroacetoxy groups as a function of solvent polarity as determined on the E(T)(30) solvent polarity scale.  相似文献
