As the main result of this paper, we prove that there exists a continuum with non-trivial shape without any prime factor. This answers a question of K. Borsuk [K. Borsuk, Concerning the notion of the shape of compacta, in: Proc. Internat. Symposium on Topology and Its Applications, Herceg-Novi, 1968, pp. 98-104]. We also show that for each integer n?3 there exists a continuum X such that Sh(X,x)=Shn(X,x), but Sh(X,x)≠Shn−1(X,x). Therefore we obtain the negative answer to another question of K. Borsuk [K. Borsuk, Some remarks concerning the shape of pointed compacta, Fund. Math. 67 (1970) 221-240]: Does Sh(X,x)=Shn(X,x), for a compactum X and some integer n?3, implie that Sh(X,x)=Sh2(X,x)?  相似文献

Generalized standard maps of the cylinder for which the rotation number is a rational function (a combination of the Fermi and Chirikov rotation functions) are considered. These symplectic maps often have degenerate resonant zones, and we establish two types resonance bifurcations: ??loops?? and ??vortex pairs??. We shall study the asymptotic behavior of the sum Ψk(x, y; g) = Σ1 ≤ nx, Pk(n) ≤ yg(n), where g(n) is an arithmetic function satisfying certain general conditions regarding its behavior on primes. The spectrum of a finite group is the set of its element orders. We prove a theorem on the structure of a finite group whose spectrum is equal to the spectrum of a finite nonabelian simple group. We give numerical and theoretical evidence in support of the conjecture of Dressler that between any two positive integers having the same prime factors there is a prime. In particular, it is shown that the abc conjecture implies that the gap between two consecutive such numbers is , and it is shown that this lower bound is best possible. We prove a Wedderburn-Artin type theorem for algebraic prime subalgebras in simple Artinian algebras, giving a generalized version of Yahaghi’s theorem [B.R. Yahaghi, On F-algebras of algebraic matrices over a subfield F of the center of a division ring, Linear Algebra Appl. 418 (2006) 599-613].
