We report on observation of upconverted VUV luminescence due to 5d-4f radiative transitions in Er3+ and Nd3+ ions doped into some fluoride crystals, under excitation by ArF and KrF excimer lasers, respectively. Only spin-forbidden 5d-4f luminescence of Er3+ (at 165 nm) was detected from the LiYF4:Er3+ crystal whereas both spin-forbidden (at 169 nm) and spin-allowed (at 160.5 nm) components are observed from the BaY2F8:Er3+ crystal, the latter being much weaker than in the case of one-photon excitation. Nd3+ 5d-4f luminescence at 180 and 173 nm has been detected from the LiYF4:Nd3+ and LaF3:Nd3+ crystals, respectively. The shift of short-wavelength edge of 5d-4f emission spectra towards longer wavelengths is observed under temperature increase from 15 to 293 K. The observed effects in the spectra of Er3+ and Nd3+ doped crystals were interpreted as a result of reabsorption of 5d-4f luminescence escaping from the bulk of the crystals.  相似文献

For LiYF4:Ce3+, LiLuF4:Ce3+ and LuF3:Ce3+ crystals UV/visible emission and time-resolved VUV/UV excitation spectra were recorded at liquid helium temperature with spectral resolution of 0.1 nm for excitation spectra and better than 0.3 nm for emission spectra. Well resolved fine structures due to zero-phonon lines were clearly observed in both excitation and emission spectra for LiYF4:Ce3+ and LiLuF4:Ce3+. For LuF3:Ce3+ crystal no fine structure was detected in the spectra even at the highest spectral resolution. Under the host excitation, the fine structure for high-energy emission band of Ce3+ (5d-2F5/2) in LiLuF4:Ce3+ becomes well pronounced because of weaker reabsorption effect, as compared to Ce3+ 4f-5d absorption, due to small penetration depth for exciting radiation. As a result the crystal-field splitting for 2F7/2 and 2F5/2 levels of Ce3+ in LiLuF4 crystal was measured. First observation of zero-phonon lines at ∼81,550 and ∼82,900 cm−1 as well as vibronic side bands due to interconfigurational 4f14-4f135d transitions in Lu3+ is reported for excitation spectrum of LiLuF4:Ce3+.  相似文献

Vacuum ultraviolet luminescence of Er3+ ions in LiYF4 and BaY2F8 crystals has been investigated. It is revealed that under excitation by 193 nm radiation from an ArF excimer laser the interconfigurational 5d–4f radiative transitions in Er3+ ions are observed. It is shown that from the LiYF4:Er crystal only the spin-forbidden luminescence (λ = 165 nm) is detected, whereas both the spin-forbidden (λ = 169 nm) and spin-allowed (λ = 160.5 nm) components are observed from the BaY2F8:Er crystal.  相似文献

Emission and absorption spectra of Tm3+ in single crystal K2YF5 with different concentrations are reported and analyzed. The non-exponential feature of the fluorescence decay of 1D2 level for the high concentration sample indicates the existence of a cross-relaxation process. Energy level simulation has been carried out by using a phenomenological model with 16 parameters accounting simultaneously for the free ion and crystal field (CF) effects. A good fit was achieved with a root mean square deviation σ=18 cm−1. The free ion and CF effects were then discussed by comparing the available data of K2YF5:Nd3+, LiYF4:Tm3+ and LiYF4:Nd3+.  相似文献

An optical study of a Y0.99Pr0.01PO4 single crystal is presented. Measurements of optical absorption, excitation, and emission by selective excitation into 1D2, 3P0 and 3P1, at different temperatures between 20 and 295 K, are described. A detailed account of the line assignments is given for absorption in the 4300-23 000 cm−1 spectral range, and for emission in the 6400-23 000 cm−1 range. The lifetimes of the emitting levels are determined. Vibronic sidebands accompanying absorption, emission and excitation spectra are reported. The decay processes of the 3P1, 3P0 and 1D2 levels are discussed. The aim of this study is a test of the configuration-interaction-assisted crystal field analysis as well as the accurate experimental determination of the energy level scheme. It was reported previously that the introduction of configuration interaction between the ground 4f2 configuration with the excited 4f6p configuration always resulted in a decrease (≈50-60%) in the standard deviations between the observed and calculated energy levels. In the present work the 4f5d configuration is included as well. The crystal field is analysed in the theoretical D2d site symmetry with and without configuration interaction. The results with 4f2, 4f2+4f5d, 4f2+4f6p and 4f2+4f5d+4f6p are given. The calculation on the basis of the 315 (4f2+4f5d+4f6p) levels gives the best overall standard deviation lowering it by 75% with regard to the calculation on the 91 4f2 levels only.  相似文献

Green phosphor compositions MgxSr1−xAl2O4:Eu, Nd (with x=0.05-0.25) were prepared by solid state reaction method. The effect of Mg substitution on photoluminescence characteristics was investigated. The photoluminescence show intense green emission for MgSrAl2O4:Eu2+, Nd3+ with long persistence. This green emission corresponds to transitions from 4f65d1 to 4f7 of Eu2+ ion. Comparative analysis of the excitation and emission spectra were used to evaluate the crystal field splitting of the 5d states of Eu2+ and the parameters of electron-vibrational interaction, such as Huang-Rhys factor, effective phonon energy, and zero-phonon line position.  相似文献

Crystal-field infrared active excitations and photoluminescence of Nd3+ ions in weakly doped LiYF4 have confirmed that the concentration dependent satellite lines accompanying the Nd3+ crystal-field optical transitions are due to four ferromagnetically coupled pairs of Nd3+ ions in undistorted Y3+ sites with the exchange energies J1=0.9, J2=1.6, J3=3.1 and J4=4.5 cm−1, respectively. A linear Zeeman splitting of the Nd3+ ion 4F3/24I9/2 transition is observed and the g-factors (g=0.2±0.1; g=0.97±0.01) associated with the 4F3/2 lowest level are determined.  相似文献

The photoluminescence and excitation spectra of Pr3+ activated LiLaP4O12 has been investigated in the 10-300 K temperature region. At all temperatures, the luminescence consists of optical transitions emanating from both the Pr3+ 4f15d1 and the 1S0 states. However, at low temperatures the emission spectrum is dominated by the intraconfiguration emission transitions emanating from the Pr3+1S0 state. With increasing temperature, there is an exchange of intensity between the two emitting states; emission transitions from the 1S0 state exhibit strong intensity quenching while the 4f15d1→4f2 emission transitions reveal intensity gain. These results are explained on the basis of thermal population of the 4f15d1 state by the 1S0 state. The energy barrier of 0.05 eV (403 cm−1) for the nonradiative process is determined from the temperature dependence of the 1S0 lifetime.  相似文献

Absolute oscillator strengths of 5f2 transitions of U4+ in ThBr4 and in hydrobromic acid solutions are found to be about 10-4 which is two orders of magnitude larger than those for 4f-4f transitions (lanthanide series) and one order of magnitude larger than 5f3 ones (U3+). Applicability of Judd's theory to 5f2 transitions is discussed with particular attention to the roles played by reduced matrix elements of odd rank tensor Uλ and by the proximity of the 6d configuration.  相似文献

Spectral-kinetic study of Pr3+ luminescence has been performed for LiLuF4:Pr(0.1 mol%) single crystal upon the excitation within 5-12 eV range at T=8 K. The fine-structure of Pr3+ 4f 2→4f 5d excitation spectra is shown for LiLuF4:Pr(0.1 mol%) to be affected by the efficient absorption transitions of Pr3+ ions into 4f 5d involving 4f 1 core in the ground state. Favourable conditions have been revealed in LiLuF4:Pr(0.1 mol%) for the transformation of UV-VUV excitation quanta into the visible range. Lightly doped LiLuF4:Pr crystals are considered as the promising luminescent materials possessing the efficient Pr3+3P0 visible emission upon UV-VUV excitation. The mechanism of energy transfer between Lu3+ host ion and Pr3+ impurity is discussed.  相似文献

The upconverted VUV (185 nm) and UV (230 and 260 nm) luminescence due to 5d-4f radiative transitions in Nd3+ ions doped into a LiYF4 crystal has been obtained under excitation by 351/353 nm radiation from a XeF excimer laser. The maximum upconversion efficiency, defined as the ratio of intensity for 5d-4f luminescence to overall intensity for 5d-4f and 4f-4f luminescence from the 4D3/2 Nd3+ level, has been estimated to be about 70% under optimal focusing conditions for XeF laser radiation. A redistribution of intensity between three main components of 5d-4f Nd3+ luminescence is observed under changing the excitation power density, which favors the most long-wavelength band (260 nm) at higher excitation density level. The effect is interpreted as being due to excited state absorption of radiation emitted. The upconverted VUV and UV luminescence from the high-lying 2F(2)7/2 4f level of Er3+ doped into a LiYF4 crystal has also been obtained under XeF-laser excitation the most intense line being at 280 nm from the spin-allowed transition to the 2H(2)11/2 4f level of Er3+, but the efficiency of upconversion for Er3+ emission is low, less than 5%.  相似文献

The Dy3+ absorption and excitation spectra of BaY2F8 and BaYb2F8 single crystals are investigated in the ultraviolet, vacuum ultraviolet, and visible ranges at a temperature of 300 K. These crystals exhibit intense broad absorption bands due to the spin-allowed 4f-5d transitions in the range (56–78) × 10?3 cm?1 and less intense absorption bands that correspond to the spin-forbidden transitions in the range (50–56) × 10?3 cm?1. The Nd3+ absorption spectra of BaY2F8 single crystals are studied in the range (34–82) × 10?3 cm?1 at 300 K for different crystal orientations.  相似文献

Thermal quenching of 5d-4f luminescence from Nd3+, Er3+ and Tm3+ ions doped into KYF4 crystals has been investigated in the temperature range up to ∼750 K where this luminescence is completely quenched. The obtained temperatures of thermal quenching (Tq) are ∼270, 495, 450 K for Nd3+, Er3+, Tm3+, respectively. At high temperatures, thermal quenching of 5d-4f luminescence from Nd3+ and Er3+ is accompanied by the appearance of 4f-4f luminescence from the lower-energy 4f levels. It has been shown that the dominating mechanism of thermal quenching for Nd3+ and Er3+ ions is thermally stimulated non-radiative transitions (intersystem crossing) from the 5d states to lower-energy 4f levels, namely 2G(2)9/2 and 2F(2)7/2, respectively, whereas for the Tm3+ ion, thermally stimulated ionization of 5d electrons to the conduction band states is responsible for thermal quenching of 5d-4f luminescence. The energy gap between the lowest Tm3+ 5d level and the bottom of the KYF4 conduction band has been estimated to be 0.66 eV.  相似文献

We have modeled the 4f 1-5d 1 absorption spectrum of a LiYF4:Ce3+ crystal at zero temperature using a microscopic model of the electron-phonon interaction and the real spectrum of LiYF4 lattice vibrations. Effects caused by mixing of the wave functions of different states of the 5d 1 excited configuration of the Ce3+ ion, which is induced by the electron-phonon interaction, are considered based on the calculations of the second-, third-, and fourth-order exact moments of curvature of the spectrum envelope. We have shown that the large value of the splitting between the maxima of the bands in the absorption spectrum that correspond to transitions to the third and fourth 5d 1 levels is a result of the nonadiabatic interaction of 5d electrons with lattice vibrations.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectra of LiYF4:Pr3+ have been measured between 12,000 and 22,000 cm−1 under pressures up to 10 GPa. In total, 25 crystal field energy levels were obtained and used for the determination of free-ion and crystal field parameters under pressure. According to the nephelauxetic effect, the free-ion parameters decrease with increasing pressure. The relative decrease is larger for the Slater than for the spin-orbit coupling parameter. This behavior is consistent with former studies on Pr3+ in different crystals and can be explained by a special covalency model. According to an effective D2d symmetry, five crystal field parameters B02(f,f), B04(f,f), B44(f,f), B06(f,f), and B46(f,f) are non-zero. The pressure-induced changes of these parameters have been determined up to the maximum pressure of 10 GPa. In order to improve the calculation of the crystal field levels, the configuration interactions with the 4f16p1 configuration have been taken into account. The effect of these interactions are also analyzed under pressure and distinct improvements of the energy level calculations have been obtained.  相似文献

CaAl2O4:Eu2+ co-doped with varying concentrations of Er3+ was prepared by solid-state reaction method. Prepared materials with 1 mol% Eu2+ and 2-10 mol% of Er3+ were investigated for their photoluminescence properties. Phase, morphology and crystalline structure were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Broad band UV-excited luminescence was observed for CaAl2O4:Eu2+, Er3+ in the blue region (λmax=440 nm) due to transitions from 4f65d1 to the 4f7 configuration of the Eu2+ ion. The Er3+ ion co-doping generates deep traps, which results in longer decay time for phosphorescence.  相似文献

The X-ray excited optical luminescence spectrum of Pr3+ in YPO4 was investigated. In addition to the sharp line f-f transitions involving the energy levels of the 4f2 configuration of Pr3+ ion, the spectrum contains some broad groups of fluorescence lines in the ultraviolet and blue region. These groups of fluorescence are attributed to transitions from the lowest 4fI5d state at 43050 cm-1 to the 4f2 levels of the Pr3+ion in YPO4.  相似文献

The luminescence and absorption properties of Ba(Y1–x Er x )2F8 (x=0.001, 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) and the Er3+-ion decay kinetics of luminescent transitions from three initial laser states, the4S3/2,4F.9/2 and4I11/2 manifolds, were measured. The crystal-field splitting schemes for allJ-manifolds which are involved in (J J)-luminescence transitions and stimulated emission parameters of Er3+ -ions in BaY2F8 were determined. A comparison of laser powers and efficiencies of BaY2F8 and Y3Al5O12, Lu3Al5O12 and LiYF4 single crystals doped with Er3+-ions shows the similar performance of these materials.  相似文献

We show the possibility of obtaining UV luminescence from 5d-4f transitions of rare-earth ions in the BaY2F8: (Yb3+, Pr3+, Ce3+) crystal under upconversion excitation by standard laser diodes with lasing wavelengths of 960, 808, and 840 nm. Various upconversion mechanisms of pumping for populating the higher-lying energy levels of the active ions, as well as methods of adaptation of the active medium BaY2F8: (Yb3+, Pr3+, Ce3+) to these mechanisms, are considered.  相似文献

Combustion method was used in this study to prepare BaAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphors co-doped with different trivalent rare-earths (Re3+=Dy3+, Nd3+, Gd3+, Sm3+, Ce3+, Er3+, Pr3+ and Tb3+) ions at an initiating temperature of 600 °C. The phosphors were annealed at 1000 °C for 3 h. As confirmed from the X-ray diffraction (XRD) data, both as prepared and post annealed samples crystallized in the well known hexagonal structure of BaAl2O4. All samples exhibited bluish-green emission associated with the 4f65d1→4f7 transitions of Eu2+ at ∼500 nm. Although the highest intensity was observed from Er3+ co-doping, the longest afterglow (due to trapping and detrapping of charge carriers) was observed from Nd3+ followed by Dy3+ co-doping. The traps responsible for the long afterglow were studied using thermoluminescence (TL) spectroscopy.  相似文献
