This paper deals with the coupled procedure of the boundary element method (BEM) and the finite element method (FEM) for the exterior boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation. A circle is selected as the common boundary on which the integral equation is set up with Fourier expansion. As a result, the exterior problems are transformed into nonlocal boundary value problems in a bounded domain which is treated with FEM, and the normal derivative of the unknown function at the common boundary does not appear. The solvability of the variational equation and the error estimate are also discussed.

In this paper, we extend the work of Daripa et al. [14–16,7] to a larger class of elliptic problems in a variety of domains. In particular, analysis-based fast algorithms to solve inhomogeneous elliptic equations of three different types in three different two-dimensional domains are derived. Dirichlet, Neumann and mixed boundary value problems are treated in all these cases. Three different domains considered are: (i) interior of a circle, (ii) exterior of a circle, and (iii) circular annulus. Three different types of elliptic problems considered are: (i) Poisson equation, (ii) Helmholtz equation (oscillatory case), and (iii) Helmholtz equation (monotone case). These algorithms are derived from an exact formula for the solution of a large class of elliptic equations (where the coefficients of the equation do not depend on the polar angle when written in polar coordinates) based on Fourier series expansion and a one-dimensional ordinary differential equation. The performance of these algorithms is illustrated for several of these problems. Numerical results are presented.  相似文献

H-measures, as originally introduced by Luc Tartar and Patrick Gérard, are suited to hyperbolic problems. However, they turned out not to be well adjusted to the study of parabolic equations. A variant of H-measures is proposed, which is much better adapted to such kind of problems. We present the new parabolic scaling and the main ingredients for the proof of existence of the new variant. Some applications to the Schrödinger equation and vibrating plate equation are shown, together with an outlook to possible applications in other problems.  相似文献

Conditions for the solvability of the discrete Lyapunov and the discrete Riccati equations subject to linear equality constraints are derived. These problems arise naturally in the context of output min-max robust control. It is shown that the following problems are equivalent to one another: (a) the solvability of the constrained discrete Riccati equation; and (b) the existence of a feedback gain that guarantees the solvability of the constrained discrete Lyapunov equation of the resulting closed loop. A simple criterion for the existence of a solution to both problems is presented. These problems are shown to be related to the discrete positive real property.  相似文献

In this work, the variational iteration method (VIM) is used for analytic treatment of the linear and nonlinear ordinary differential equations, homogeneous or inhomogeneous. The method is capable of reducing the size of calculations and handles both linear and nonlinear equations, homogeneous or inhomogeneous, in a direct manner. However, for concrete problems, a huge number of iterations are needed for a reasonable level of accuracy.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with an operator equation Ax+Bx+Cx=x on ordered Banach spaces, where A is an increasing α-concave operator, B is an increasing sub-homogeneous operator and C is a homogeneous operator. The existence and uniqueness of its positive solutions is obtained by using the properties of cones and a fixed point theorem for increasing general β-concave operators. As applications, we utilize the fixed point theorems obtained in this paper to study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for two classes nonlinear problems which include fourth-order two-point boundary value problems for elastic beam equations and elliptic value problems for Lane-Emden-Fowler equations.  相似文献

In this paper the Green’s function method and results about fixed point are used to get existence results on periodic traveling wave solution for non-homogeneous problems of generalized versions of the BBM and KdVB equations. It is shown through the constructions of explicit Green’s functions that the periodic boundary value problems for the traveling wave solutions of the BBM and KdVB equations are equivalent to integral equations which generate compact operators in the space of periodic functions. These integral representations allowed us to prove that if the speed of the wave propagation is suitably chosen, then the BBM and KdVB equations will admit periodic traveling wave solution.  相似文献

In this work, we apply the Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS) to harmonic and biharmonic problems in regular polygonal domains. The matrices resulting from the MFS discretization possess a block circulant structure. This structure is exploited to produce efficient Fast Fourier Transform–based Matrix Decomposition Algorithms for the solution of these problems. The classical method of fundamental solutions (MFS) has only been used to approximate the solution of homogeneous PDE problems. Coupled with other numerical schemes such as domain integration, dual reciprocity method (with polynomial or radial basis functions interpolation), the MFS can be extended to solve the nonhomogeneous problems. This paper presents an extension of the MFS for the direct approximation of Poisson and nonhomogeneous Helmholtz problems. This can be done by using the fundamental solutions of the associated eigenvalue equations as a basis to approximate the nonhomogeneous term. The particular solution of the PDE can then be evaluated. An advantage of this mesh-free method is that the resolution of both homogeneous and nonhomogeneous equations can be combined in a unified way and it can be used for multiscale problems. 微分求积方法(DQM)已成功地应用于数值求解流体力学中的许多问题.但是已有的工作大多限于正规区域的流动问题,同时缺少用迎风机制来描述流体流动的对流特性.该文对一个不规则区域中的不可压缩层流和热迁移的耦合问题给出了一种具有迎风机制的局部微分求积方法,对通过边界和坐标不平行的收缩管道中的流体,只用少数网格点得到了比较好的数值解.和有限差分方法(FDM)相比较,这一方法具有计算工作量少、存储量小和收敛性好等优点.  相似文献

A variety of engineering problems can be successfully solved by coupling finite element and boundary element procedures. Approximate boundary elements, which can be used when dealing with radiation problems in unlimited domains are presented. A noniterative algebraic method is presented for solving differential Riccati equations which satisfy two-point boundary-value problems. This class of numerical problems arises in quadratic optimization problems where the cost functionals are composed of both continuous and discrete state penalties, leading to piecewise periodic feedback gains. The necessary condition defining the solution for the two-point boundary value problem is cast in the form of a discrete-time algebraic Riccati equation, by using a formal representation for the solution of the differential Riccati equation. A numerical example is presented which demonstrates the validity of the approach.The authors would like to thank Dr. Fernando Incertis, IBM Madrid Scientific Center, who reviewed this paper and pointed out that the two-point boundary-value necessary condition could be manipulated into the form of a discrete-time Riccati equation. His novel approach proved to be superior to the authors' previously proposed iterative continuation method.  相似文献

The inverse problems of determining the source and coefficient of an elliptic equation in a rectangle are studied. Additional information on the solution to the direct problem (overdetermination) is the trace of its solution on an interval inside the rectangle. Sufficient existence and uniqueness conditions (global) are derived for the inverse problems.
