In this paper we study the blow‐up of solution of a mixed problem associated to a nonlinear wave equation with dissipative and source term in a bounded domain of . On a boundary portion of the domain we consider a non‐porous viscoelastic acoustic boundary conditions to a non‐locally reacting boundary.  相似文献

Well‐posedness and regularity results are shown for a class of free boundary problems consisting of diffusion on a free domain where the boundary movement depends on its mean curvature of the boundary and the diffusion on the boundary, and initial conditions are radially symmetric. Short‐time existence and uniqueness of solutions in a suitable Sobolev space are shown using a fixed‐point argument. Higher regularity is a posteriori. Finally, it is shown that solutions exist globally in time and converge to equilibrium if the boundary movement depends on the mean curvature of the boundary and diffusion in a specific way. A mathematical model describing the swelling of a cell due to osmosis is treated as an example. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We present Hölder estimates and Hölder gradient estimates for a class of free boundary problems with tangential oblique derivative boundary conditions provided the oblique vector β does not vanish at any point on the boundary. We also establish the existence result for a general class of quasilinear degenerate problems of this type including nonlinear wave systems and the unsteady transonic small disturbance equation.  相似文献

Since the pioneer work of Leray [23] and Hopf [17], Stokes and Navier–Stokes problems have been often studied with Dirichlet boundary condition. Nevertheless, in the opinion of engineers and physicists such a condition is not always realistic in industrial and applied problems of origin. Thus arises naturally the need to carry out a mathematical analysis of these systems with different boundary conditions, which best represent the underlying fluid dynamic phenomenology. Based on the study of the complex and fractional powers of the Stokes operator with pressure boundary condition, we carry out a systematic treatment of the Stokes problem with the corresponding boundary conditions in ‐spaces.  相似文献

We consider metric graphs with a uniform lower bound on the edge lengths but no further restrictions. We discuss how to describe every local self‐adjoint Laplace operator on such graphs by boundary conditions in the vertices given by projections and self‐adjoint operators. We then characterize the lower bounded self‐adjoint Laplacians and determine their associated quadratic form in terms of the operator families encoding the boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we ascertain the blow-up rate of the large solutions of a class of sublinear elliptic boundary value problems with a weight function in front of the nonlinearity that vanishes on the boundary of the underlying domain, Ω, at different rates according to the point of the boundary, . All previous results in the literature assumed the decay rate of the underlying weight function to be the same at any point of ∂Ω. This hypothesis substantially simplified the mathematical analysis of the problem, as it allowed constructing global sub and supersolutions in an open neighborhood of ∂Ω. Obtaining general results requires localizing at each particular point of the boundary, making particularly involved the mathematical analysis of the problem.  相似文献

This article addresses nonlinear wave equations with supercritical interior and boundary sources, and subject to interior and boundary damping. The presence of a nonlinear boundary source alone is known to pose a significant difficulty since the linear Neumann problem for the wave equation is not, in general, well‐posed in the finite‐energy space H1(Ω) × L2(?Ω) with boundary data in L2 due to the failure of the uniform Lopatinskii condition. Further challenges stem from the fact that both sources are non‐dissipative and are not locally Lipschitz operators from H1(Ω) into L2(Ω), or L2(?Ω). With some restrictions on the parameters in the model and with careful analysis involving the Nehari Manifold, we obtain global existence of a unique weak solution, and establish exponential and algebraic uniform decay rates of the finite energy (depending on the behavior of the dissipation terms). Moreover, we prove a blow up result for weak solutions with nonnegative initial energy.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence and nonlinear stability of the totally characteristic boundary layer for the quasilinear equations with positive definite viscosity matrix under the assumption that the boundary matrix vanishes identically on the boundary x=0. We carry out a series of weighted estimates to the boundary layer equations—Prandtl type equations to get the regularity and the far field behavior of the solutions. This allows us to perform a weighted energy estimate for the error equation to prove the stability of the boundary layers. The stability result finally implies the asymptotic limit of the viscous solutions.  相似文献

The paper concerns the well-posedness problem of an evolutionary weighted p-Laplacian with boundary degeneracy. Different from the classical theory for linear equations, it is shown that the degenerate portion of the boundary should be decomposed into two parts: the strongly degenerate boundary on which the equation exhibits hyperbolic characteristics and the weakly degenerate boundary on which the equation still exhibits parabolic characteristics. We formulate reasonably the boundary value condition and establish the existence and uniqueness theorems.  相似文献

We modify and extend proofs of Serrin’s symmetry result for overdetermined boundary value problems from the Laplace-operator to a general quasilinear operator and remove a strong ellipticity assumption in Philippin (Maximum principles and eigenvalue problems in partial differential equations (Knoxville, TN, 1987), Longman Sci. Tech., Pitman Res. Notes Math. Ser., Harlow, 175, pp. 34–48, 1988) and a growth assumption in Garofalo and Lewis (A symmetry result related to some overdetermined boundary value problems, Am. J. Math. 111, 9–33, 1989) on the diffusion coefficient A, as well as a starshapedness assumption on Ω in Fragalà et al. (Overdetermined boundary value problems with possibly degenerate ellipticity: a geometric approach. Math. Zeitschr. 254, 117–132, 2006).  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study a class of semilinear elliptic boundary value problems with degenerate boundary conditions which include as particular cases the Dirichlet problem and the Robin problem. The approach here is based on the super‐sub‐solution method in the degenerate case, and is distinguished by the extensive use of an Lp Schauder theory elaborated for second‐order, elliptic differential operators with discontinuous zero‐th order term. By using Schauder's fixed point theorem, we prove that the existence of an ordered pair of sub‐ and supersolutions of our problem implies the existence of a solution of the problem. The results extend an earlier theorem due to Kazdan and Warner to the degenerate case. © 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim  相似文献

Summary. Simple boundary conditions on an artificial boundary are discussed, then an exact boundary condition on the artificial boundary is obtained. Approximation to this boundary condition with high accuracy is given, and the error estimates are obtained. A numerical example is presented, and the numerical results are compared with the exact solution. In this paper, we consider a damped wave equation with a dynamic boundary control. First, combining a general criteria of Arendt and Batty with Holmgren's theorem we show the strong stability of our system. Next, we show that our system is not uniformly stable in general, since it is the case for the unit disk. Hence, we look for a polynomial decay rate for smooth initial data for our system by applying a frequency domain approach. In a first step, by giving some sufficient conditions on the boundary of our domain and by using the exponential decay of the wave equation with a standard damping, we prove a polynomial decay in of the energy. In a second step, under appropriated conditions on the boundary, called the multiplier control conditions, we establish a polynomial decay in of the energy. Later, we show in a particular case that such a polynomial decay is available even if the previous conditions are not satisfied. For this aim, we consider our system on the unit square of the plane. Using a method based on a Fourier analysis and a specific analysis of the obtained 1‐d problems combining Ingham's inequality and an interpolation method, we establish a polynomial decay in of the energy for sufficiently smooth initial data. Finally, in the case of the unit disk, using the real part of the asymptotic expansion of eigenvalues of the damped system, we prove that the obtained decay is optimal in the domain of the operator.  相似文献

We study the dynamical boundary value problem for Hamilton‐Jacobi equations of the eikonal type with a small parameter. We establish two results concerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the Hamilton‐Jacobi equations: one concerns with the convergence of solutions as the parameter goes to zero and the other with the large‐time asymptotics of solutions of the limit equation.  相似文献

This paper deals with a mathematical model describing the cell cycle dynamics and chemotactic driven cell movement in a multicellular tumor spheroid. Tumor cells consist of two types of cells: proliferating cells and quiescent cells, which have different chemotactic responses to an extracellular nutrient supply. The model is a free boundary problem for a nonlinear system of reaction-diffusion-advection equations, where the free boundary is the outer boundary of the spheroid. The free boundary condition is quite novel due to different velocity of two types of cells. The global existence and uniqueness of solutions to the model is proved. The proof is based on a fixed point argument, together with the Lp-theory for parabolic equations with the third boundary condition.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the initial boundary value problem for a nonconservative system of hyperbolic equation appearing in elastodynamics in the space time domain x > 0, t > 0. The number of boundary conditions, to be prescribed at the boundary x = 0, depends on the number of characteristics entering the domain. Because our system is nonlinear, the characteristic speeds depends on the unknown and the direction of the characteristics curves are known apriori. As it is well known, the boundary condition has to be understood in a generalised way. One of the standard way is using vanishing viscosity method. We use this method to construct solution for a particular class of initial and boundary data, namely the initial and boundary datas that lie on the level sets of one of the Riemann invariants.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a heat equation with nonlinear boundary condition occurring in population genetics, the selection–migration problem for alleles in a region, considering flow of genes throughout the boundary. Such a problem determines a gradient flow in a convenient phase space and then the dynamics for large times depends heavily on the knowledge of the equilibrium solutions. We address the questions of the existence of a nontrivial equilibrium solution and its regularity.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the optimal boundary regularity under natural structural conditions for a large class of nonlinear elliptic equations with singular terms near the boundary. By a careful construction of super- and sub-solutions, we obtain precise growth estimates for solutions at the boundary and reduce the boundary regularity to the interior one by a rescaling argument.  相似文献
