Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), optical absorption and emission spectra of Cr3+ ions doped in (30−x) (NaPO3)6+30PbO+40B2O3+xCr2O3 (x=0.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mol%) glasses have been studied. The EPR spectra exhibit resonance signals with effective g values at g≈4.55 and g≈1.97. The EPR spectra of x=3.0 mol% of Cr2O3 in sodium-lead borophosphate glass sample were studied at various temperatures (295-123 K). The intensity of the resonance signals increases with decrease in temperature. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits four bands characteristic of Cr3+ ions in octahedral symmetry. From the analysis of the bands, the crystal-field parameter Dq and the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameters B and C have been evaluated. The emission spectrum exhibit one broad band characteristic of Cr3+ ions in octahedral symmetry. This band has been assigned to the transition 4T2g (F)→4A2g (F). Correlating EPR and optical data, the molecular bonding coefficient (α) has been evaluated.  相似文献

Solid samples of polycrystalline corundum α-Al2O3 activated by triply-charged rare-earth ions RE3+ (R=Eu3+, Er3+, Pr3+) were synthesized by the sol-gel technology. Characteristic narrow-line optical absorption and luminescence spectra produced by intraconfigurational 4f-4f transitions in RE3+ ions have been measured. RE3+ ions have been established to form one dominant type of optical centers in the corundum matrix, and the energy diagram of Eu3+ and Er3+ Stark levels in corundum has been determined. Fiz. Tverd. Europium doped LaMgAl11O19 phosphor was prepared by the combustion method. The as-prepared and post-treated (1350 °C 10 h 5% H2+95% N2) phosphors were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques. XRD patterns show that LaMgAl11O19:Eu phosphors have hexagonal structure. FT-IR spectrum exhibits absorption bands corresponding to the stretching vibration of AlO4 and AlO6. Morphological studies reveal that this phosphor has faceted plates of varying sizes and shapes. The as-prepared LaMgAl11O19:Eu phosphor consists of both Eu3+ and Eu2+ ions. The phosphor exhibits a bright blue emission at 450 nm (4f65d→4f7 transition of Eu2+). On post-treating the phosphor we are able to enhance the blue emission efficiency by 330%. The process was detected from the evolution of excitation, emission and EPR spectra and the results are discussed.  相似文献

The 3 keV O2+\mathrm{O}_{2}^{+} reactive ion beam mixing of Cr/X interfaces (X=Al or Si) has been used to synthesize Cr-based mixed oxide thin films. The kinetics of growth, composition, and electronic structure of those films has been studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, and factor analysis. Initially, for low ion doses, Cr2O3 species are formed. Later, with increasing the ion dose, Cr2O3 species are first transformed into Cr3+–O–X species, and subsequently, those Cr3+–O–X species are transformed into Cr6+–O–X species. This sequential transformation, Cr2O3→Cr3+–O–X→Cr6+–O–X, is accompanied by a slight increase of the oxygen concentration and a decrease of the Cr/X ratio in the films formed leading to the synthesis of custom designed Cr-based mixed oxides. The changes observed in the valence band and Auger parameters further support the formation of Cr–X mixed oxide species. Angle resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that for low ion doses, when only Cr2O3 and Cr3+–O–X species coexist, Cr3+–O–X species are located nearer the surface than Cr2O3 species, whereas for higher ion doses, when only Cr3+–O–X and Cr6+–O–X species coexist, the Cr6+–O–X species are those located nearer the surface.  相似文献

We have studied photoluminescence and thermoluminescence (PL and TL) in CaGa2Se4:Eu crystals in the temperature range 77–400 K. We have established that broadband photoluminescence with maximum at 571 nm is due to intracenter transitions 4f6 5d–4f7 (8S7/2) of the Eu2+ ions. From the temperature dependence of the intensity (log I–103/T), we determined the activation energy (E a = 0.04 eV) for thermal quenching of photoluminescence. From the thermoluminescence spectra, we determined the trap depths: 0.31, 0.44, 0.53, 0.59 eV. The lifetime of the excited state 4f6 5d of the Eu2+ ions in the CaGa2Se4 crystal found from the luminescence decay kinetics is 3.8 μsec. The optical absorption spectra of crystals with garnet structure (A3B2C3O12), containing V or Cr impurity ions, before and after oxidation annealing, γ irradiation, and coactivation with Ca and Mg ions have been experimentally and theoretically investigated. It is shown that V3+ and Cr4+ ions are incorporated into both octahedral and tetrahedral sites of the garnet lattice. The absorption spectra and energy level diagrams of impurity ions are identified.  相似文献

On the basis of the 120×120 complete energy matrices for a d3 configuration ion in a trigonal ligand field, for Cr3+ ions doped in MgTiO3 and LiTaO3, the local structures and EPR g factors of the octahedral (CrO6)9− clusters have been studied, respectively. By simulating the calculated optical spectra and the EPR spectra data to the experimental results, local structure parameters are obtained. The calculated results show that although the local lattice structures around the M (M=Mg2+, Ta5+) ions are obviously different, after Cr3+ replacing the M, the local lattice structures around the Cr3+ ions are quite similar and close to those of the Cr2O3. This may be ascribed to the fact that the octahedral Cr3+ center in MgTiO3:Cr3+ and LiTaO3:Cr3+ systems and that in Cr2O3 exhibit similar octahedral (CrO6)9− clusters. Moreover, the corresponding theoretical values of the optical spectra have been reported. It is also found that the orbital reduction factor k is very important to understand the EPR g factors for Cr3+ ions doped in MgTiO3 and LiTaO3.  相似文献

Magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) doped with trivalent chromium (Cr3+) was synthesized by the combustion method. The prepared sample was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) adsorption isotherms and diffuse-reflectance UV-vis spectroscopy techniques. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and photoluminescence (PL) studies have been performed at room temperature and at 110 K. The EPR spectrum exhibit resonance signals at g=5.37, 4.53, 3.82, 2.26 and 1.96 characteristic of Cr3+ ions. The luminescence of Cr3+-activated MgAl2O4 exhibits a red emission peak around 686 nm from the synthesized phosphor particles upon 551 nm excitation. The luminescence is assigned to a transition from the upper 2Eg4A2g ground state of Cr3+ ions. By correlating EPR and optical data the crystal field splitting parameter (Dq), Racah inter-electronic repulsion parameter (B) and the bonding parameters have been evaluated and discussed. The bonding parameters suggests that the ionic nature of Cr3+ ions with the ligands and the Cr3+ ions are in distorted octrahedral environment.  相似文献

With the help of the Dexter's theory, the energy transfer mechanism from Pr3+1S0 to Cr3+ is investigated theoretically in SrAl12O19:Pr3+, Cr3+ quantum cutting phosphors. The electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra of Pr3+ and Cr3+-doped SrAl12O19 with magnetoplumbite structure have been studied. The Cr3+ ion is found to enter the Al4(4f) site, which is very close to the Sr(2d) site replaced by the Pr3+ ions in the host. The theoretical results indicate that the efficient Pr3+1S0→Cr3+ energy transfer can only take place in the intermediate mirror planes, in which for the nearest and next-nearest Pr3+-Cr3+ pairs, both dipole-dipole and dipole-quadrupole interactions can play their parts in the transfer. Finally, an overview is given about the research on the energy transfer from Pr3+1S0 to codopants in their co-doped materials.  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetric studies, spectroscopic studies (viz., optical absorption, ESR, infrared spectra) and thermoluminescence studies of ZnF2-MO-TeO2 (MO=ZnO, CdO and PbO) glasses doped with different concentrations of chromium ions have been investigated. Results have been analyzed in the light of different oxidation states of chromium ion. The analysis indicates chromium ions mostly exist in Cr3+ state in ZT, CT and PT glasses when Cr2O3 is present upto 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively; these ions seems to be present in Cr6+ state that take part network forming positions with CrO42− structural groups in all the three glasses when the concentration of Cr2O3 is greater than the above quantities. Quenching of thermoluminescence light output of the glasses has been observed with increase in Cr2O3 concentration upto 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively in ZT, CT and PT glasses. This has been identified due to the killing effect of Cr3+ ions. Further it has also been concluded that ZnF2-PbO-TeO2 is more favourable glass network for the presence of large concentration of laser-emitting Cr3+ ions, among the three glass series studied.  相似文献

Blue light-emitting glasses were successfully prepared by doping Eu2+ ions in the system Al2O3-SiO2. The Al2O3-SiO2 glasses doped with Eu3+ ions were synthesized using a sol-gel method, followed by heating in hydrogen gas atmosphere to reduce into the Eu2+ ions. The obtained glasses exhibited emission spectra with peak at ∼450 nm due to 4f65d→4f7 (8S7/2) transition, the intensities of which strongly changed depending on their glass composition and heating conditions. The emission quantum efficiency of 48% was achieved by heating the glass with the ratio of Al3+ to Eu3+ at about 6 at 1000 °C in hydrogen gas atmosphere. It was found that the Al2O3-SiO2 glasses were appropriate not only for homogeneously doping the Eu3+ ions in glass structure but also reducing to Eu2+ ions, resulting in enhanced blue light-emission properties.  相似文献

The infrared optical properties of Er3+ ions are reported for 60GeO2–20PbO–20Na2O glass for two Er2O3 concentrations. From the optical absorption spectra, the Judd–Ofelt (J–O) parameters have been obtained and have been used to calculate radiative lifetimes and stimulated emission cross sections. A narrow emission band peaked at 1536 nm with exponential decay for both Er concentrations is observed. The measured lifetime decreases for increasing Er concentration, its value being very close, in the case of the lowest doping level, to the radiative lifetime calculated from J–O analysis. This, together with the relatively high emission cross section makes this glass suitable for laser applications.  相似文献

We have used the Bridgman method to grow CsBr:Eu2+ single crystals, adding an activator to the mix in the form of Eu2O3 in amounts of 0.0125, 0.0250, and 0.0500 mole %. At T = 300 K, we studied the absorption spectra, the photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and the photostimulated luminescence (PSL) spectra of the grown crystals. We have established that the structure of the photoluminescence and photostimulated luminescence centers in crystals grown from the CsBr:Eu2O3 mix includes isolated dipole centers Eu2+-VCs, emitting in bands with maxima at 432 nm and 455 nm respectively, and in crystals grown at activator concentrations of 0.025 and 0.050 mole % they also include aggregate centers (AC) based on CsEuBr3 nanocrystals with emission bands at 515 m and 523 nm. We have fabricated Cr3+ and Nd3+ co-doped YAG (Cr;Nd:YAG) ceramics, and investigated their optical properties and laser characteristics. The Cr;Nd:YAG has two broad absorption bands at around 440 nm (4A24T1) and 600 nm (4A24T2) respectively, caused by Cr3+ ions. In the case of pumping at 440 nm, the maximum effective lifetime of the Cr;Nd:YAG was 737 μs with a 0.1 at% Cr3+ and 1.0 at% Nd3+ co-doped YAG sample. Cr3+ ions take a role of an effective sensitizer to convert the UV light of flashlamp. For single-shot laser operation, a 10.4 J output energy at 1064 nm was obtained with 0.1 at% Cr3+ and 1.0 at% Nd3+ co-doped YAG ceramic rod with a laser efficiency of 4.9%. The laser efficiency was found to be more than twice that of a 1.0 at % Nd3+:YAG ceramic rod.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption studies of Li2O–MoO3–B2O3 with varying concentrations of Li2O, MoO3 and B2O3 have been carried out at room temperature. Two series of glasses, one with constant MoO3 (CM) and another with constant borate (CB), have been investigated. Characteristic EPR spectra of Mo5+ have been observed centered around g ≅ 2.00, which are attributed to Mo5+ ion in an octahedral coordination sphere with an axial distortion. The spectra also show strong dependence on the concentration of Li2O and B2O3. Spin concentrations (N) and magnetic susceptibilities (χ) have been calculated. In the CM series, the N values decrease with increasing Li2O content up to 30 mol%, while in the CB series variation of N is found to increase initially up to 20 mol%, and with further increase in the Li2O content the N values tend to decrease. The variation of magnetic susceptibilities is almost similar to that observed with the variation of N. From the optical absorption spectra, an absorption edge (α) has been evaluated. In the CM series, the values of α show a blueshift. On the other hand, in the CB series a redshift is observed. The observed variations in spectral parameters are explained by considering the molybdoborate network. Addition of Li2O to the CM and CB series results in modification of [MoO6/2]0 → [MoOO5/2] and [BO3/2]0 → [BO4/2] → [BOO2/2] groups, respectively, leading to creation of nonbridging oxygens. The optical basicity of the glasses has been evaluated in both the CM and the CB glasses. The optical basicity can be used to classify the covalent-to-ionic ratios of the glass, since an increasing optical basicity indicates decreasing covalency. It is observed that the covalency between Mo5+ ions and oxygen ligands increases in the CB series, whereas in the CM series the covalency between Mo5+ ions and oxygen ligands decreases. We have studied the luminescent properties of Eu2+/3+ and Yb2+ ions in strontium hexaborate SrB6O10 for excitation in the 120–400 nm region. The luminescence spectra of Ln2+ ions in SrB6O10 consist of overlapping bands in the 370–520 nm region, due to 5d → 4f transitions at several nonequivalent centers. In the excitation spectra, besides the bands associated with 4f → 5d transitions in the Ln2+ ions, we also observe a band in the 135–160 nm region due to the transitions O(2p) → B(2s,2p) within the borate anions. The luminescence of the Eu3+ ions is excited most efficiently in the region of the Eu3+ charge transfer band (λmax = 226 nm). Systematic first-principles analysis of the energy level schemes and ground state absorption spectra of trivalent chromium in ZnAl2S4 and ZnGa2O4 crystals has been performed in the present paper. The recently developed first-principles approach to the analysis of the absorption spectra of impurity ions in crystals based on the discrete variational multi-electron (DV-ME) method [K. Ogasawara et al., Phys. Rev. B 64, 115413 (2001)] was used in the calculations. The method is based on the numerical solution of the Dirac equation; no phenomenological parameters are used in the calculations. As a result, complete energy level schemes of the Cr3+ ion and its absorption spectra in both crystals were calculated, assigned and compared with experimental data. By performing analysis of the molecular orbital (MO) population, it was shown that the covalency of the chemical bonds between the Cr3+ and S2- ions is more significant than that one between the Cr3+ and O2- ions.  相似文献

The influence of thermal treatment on a (Li2OAl2O3 SiO2) glass ceramic is studied by laser spectroscopy. At temperatures above 800 °C a fluorescence of Cr3+ ions around 693 nm appears which indicates the growth of crystallites where the Cr3+ ions occupy sites similar to those in Al2O3.  相似文献

In this paper, the optical absorption spectra of Yb3+ in the α-Al2O3 crystal are reasonably explained by using the superposition model and local lattice structure analysis. Based on these studies, we find that the local geometrical structure around the Yb3+ ions possesses an elongated trigonal distortion above the O2−-triangle and a compressed trigonal distortion in the lower one.  相似文献

采用高温熔融退火法制备了系列 80TeO2-10Bi2O3-10TiO2-0.5Er2O3-xCe2O3 (x=0,0.25, 0.5,0.75,1.0 mol%)和(80-y) TeO2-10Bi2O3-10TiO2-yWO3-0.5Er2O3-0.75Ce2O3 (y=3,6,9,12 mol%)的碲铋酸盐玻璃.测试了玻璃样品400-1700 nm范围内的吸收光谱, 975 nm抽运下的上转换发光谱和1.53 μm波段荧光谱, 以及808 nm激励下的Er3+离子荧光寿命和无掺杂玻璃样品的Raman光谱, 并结合Judd-Ofelt理论和McCumber理论计算了Er3+离子光谱参数.结果表明, 在掺Er3+碲铋酸盐玻璃中引入Ce3+离子进行Er3+/Ce3+共掺, 通过Er3+离子4I11/2能级与Ce3+离子2F5/2 能级间基于声子辅助的能量传递过程,可以有效抑制Er3+离子上转换发光并明显增强其 1.53 μm波段荧光;同时,在现有Er3+/Ce3+共掺玻璃组分基础上引入WO3, 可进一步提高1.53 μm波段荧光并展宽其荧光发射谱. 研究结果对于获取优异光谱特性的宽带掺Er3+光纤放大器玻璃基质具有实际意义.  相似文献
