We consider a steady-state heat conduction problem Pα withmixed boundary conditions for the Poisson equation in a bounded multidimensional domain Ω depending of a positive parameter α which represents the heat transfer coefficient on a portion Γ1 of the boundary of Ω. We consider, for each α > 0, a cost function Jα and we formulate boundary optimal control problems with restrictions over the heat flux q on a complementary portion Γ2 of the boundary of Ω. We obtain that the optimality conditions are given by a complementary free boundary problem in Γ2 in terms of the adjoint state. We prove that the optimal control q and its corresponding system state u and adjoint state p for each α are strongly convergent to qop, u and p in L22), H1(Ω), and H1(Ω) respectively when α → ∞. We also prove that these limit functions are respectively the optimal control, the system state and the adjoint state corresponding to another boundary optimal control problem with restrictions for the same Poisson equation with a different boundary condition on the portion Γ1. We use the elliptic variational inequality theory in order to prove all the strong convergences. In this paper, we generalize the convergence result obtained in Ben Belgacem-El Fekih-Metoui, ESAIM:M2AN, 37 (2003), 833-850 by considering boundary optimal control problems with restrictions on the heat flux q defined on Γ2 and the parameter α (which goes to infinity) is defined on Γ1. Let q be a prime power, ??q be the field of q elements, and k, m be positive integers. A bipartite graph G = Gq(k, m) is defined as follows. The vertex set of G is a union of two copies P and L of two‐dimensional vector spaces over ??q, with two vertices (p1, p2) ∈ P and [ l1, l2] ∈ L being adjacent if and only if p2 + l2 = pl. We prove that graphs Gq(k, m) and Gq(k′, m′) are isomorphic if and only if q = q′ and {gcd (k, q ? 1), gcd (m, q ? 1)} = {gcd (k′, q ? 1),gcd (m′, q ? 1)} as multisets. A k‐star is the graph K1,k. We prove a general theorem about k‐star factorizations of Cayley graphs. This is used to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of k‐star factorizations of any power (Kq)s of a complete graph with prime power order q, products C × C ×··· × C of k cycles of arbitrary lengths, and any power (Cr)s of a cycle of arbitrary length. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This paper is concerned with the thermoelastic plate equations in a domain Ω: subject to the boundary condition: u|=Dνu|=θ|=0 and initial condition: (u, ut, θ)|t=0=(u0, v0, θ0). Latin square type partial difference sets (PDS) are known to exist in R × R for various abelian p‐groups R and in ?t. We construct a family of Latin square type PDS in ?t × ?2ntp using finite commutative chain rings. We consider the non‐local singular boundary value problem (1) where qC0([0,1]) and f, hC0((0,∞)), limf(x)=?∞, limh(x)=∞. We present conditions guaranteeing the existence of a solution xC1([0,1]) ∩ C2((0,1]) which is positive on (0,1]. Fermat's Little Theorem states that if p is a prime number and gcd (x,p) = 1, then xp?1 ≡ 1 (modp) If the requirement that gcd (x,p) = 1 is dropped, we can say xp x(modp)for any integer x. Euler generalized Fermat's Theorem in the following way: if gcd (x,n) = 1 then xφ(n) ≡ 1(modn), where φ is the Euler phi-function. It is clear that Euler's result cannot be extended to all integers x in the same way Fermat's Theorem can; that is, the congruence xφ(n)+1 x(modn)is not always valid. In this paper, we establish some sharp Sobolev trace inequalities on n-dimensional, compact Riemannian manifolds with smooth boundaries. More specifically, let q = 2(n - 1)/(n - 2), 1/S = inf {∫ |∇u|2 : ∇uL2(R+n), ∫ |u|q = 1}. We establish for any Riemannian manifold with a smooth boundary, denoted as (M, g), that there exists some constant A = A(M, g) > 0, (∫dM|u|q dsg)2/q < or = to SM |∇gu|2 dvg + AdMu2 dsg, for all uH1 (M). Given graphs G and H, an edge coloring of G is called an (H,q)‐coloring if the edges of every copy of H ? G together receive at least q colors. Let r(G,H,q) denote the minimum number of colors in a (H,q)‐coloring of G. In 9 Erd?s and Gyárfás studied r(Kn,Kp,q) if p and q are fixed and n tends to infinity. They determined for every fixed p the smallest q (denoted by qlin) for which r(Kn,Kp,q) is linear in n and the smallest q (denoted by qquad) for which r(Kn,Kp,q) is quadratic in n. The 1‐chromatic number χ1(Sp) of the orientable surface Sp of genus p is the maximum chromatic number of all graphs which can be drawn on the surface so that each edge is crossed by no more than one other edge. We show that if there exists a finite field of order 4m+1, m≥3, then 8m+2≤χ1(S)≤8m+3, where 8m+3 is Ringel's upper bound on χ1(S). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The existence of a (q,k, 1) difference family in GF(q) has been completely solved for k = 3,4,5,6. For k = 7 only partial results have been given. In this article, we continue the investigation and use Weil's theorem on character sums to show that the necessary condition for the existence of a (q,7,1) difference family in GF(q), i.e. q ≡ 1; (mod 42) is also sufficient except for q = 43 and possibly except for q = 127, q = 211, q = 316 and primes q∈ [261239791, 1.236597 × 1013] such that in GF(q). © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider a boundary problem for an elliptic system in a bounded region Ω ? ?n and where the spectral parameter is multiplied by a discontinuous weight function ω (x) = diag(ω1(x), …, ωN (x)). The problem is considered under limited smoothness assumptions and under an ellipticity with parameter condition. Recently, this problem was studied under the assumption that the ωj (x)–1 are essentially bounded in Ω. In this paper we suppose that ω (x) vanishes identically in a proper subregion Ω of Ω and that the ωj (x)–1 are essentially bounded in . Then by using methods which are a variant of those used in constructing the Calderón projectors for the boundary Γ of Ω, we shall derive results here which will enable us in a subsequent work to apply the ideas of Calderón to develop the spectral theory associated with the problem under consideration here (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The essential theme of this article is the exploitation of known configurations in projective planes in order to construct pairwise balanced designs. Among the results shown are (q2 + 1)/2 ∈ B((q + 1)/2, 2) for all odd prime powers q; the resolution of 31 of the Mullin and Stinson's open cases in the spectrum of B(P7, 1), where P7 is odd prime powers ≥ 7; some constructions showing the inessential nature of values in E, where E are PBD generating sets containing values equal to 1 mod(a) for 5 ≤ a ≤ 7; some constructions with block sizes being prime powers ≥ 8, yielding 7 MOLS of order 158 and 9 MOLS of order 254; and some designs on 28, 38, 42, 56, 63, 68, 72, and 156 points with interesting block sizes. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The paper deals with a T ‐periodically perturbed autonomous system in ℝn of the form ((PS)) with ε > 0 small. The main goal of the paper is to provide conditions ensuring the existence of T ‐periodic solutions to (PS) belonging to a given open set WC ([0, T ],ℝn ). This problem is considered in the case when the boundary ∂W of W contains at most a finite number of nondegenerate T ‐periodic solutions of the autonomous system = ϕ (x). The starting point of our approach is the following property due to Malkin: if for any T ‐periodic limit cycle x 0 of = ϕ (x) belonging to ∂W the so‐called bifurcation function f (θ), θ ∈ [0, T ], associated to x0, see (1.11), satisfies the condition f(0) ≠ 0 then the integral operator does not have fixed points on ∂W for all ε > 0 sufficiently small. By means of the Malkin's bifurcation function we then establish a formula to evaluate the Leray–Schauder topological degree of IQε on W. This formula permits to state existence results that generalize or improve several results of the existing literature. In particular, we extend a continuation principle due to Capietto, Mawhin and Zanolin where it is assumed that ∂W does not contain any T ‐periodic solutions of the unperturbed system.   1. 1/2q 2(q + 1) whenq ≡ 1 (mod 4).
  2. 1/4q 2(q + 1) whenq ≡ 3 (mod 4) and there are Williamson-type matrices of order 1/4(q + 1).
This gives Williamson-type matrices for the new orders 363, 1183, 1805, 2601, 3174, 5103. The construction can be combined with known results on orthogonal designs to give an Hadamard matrix of the new order 33396 = 4 ? 8349.  相似文献
