For log\frac1+?52 £ l* £ l* < ¥{\rm log}\frac{1+\sqrt{5}}{2}\leq \lambda_\ast \leq \lambda^\ast < \infty , let E*, λ*) be the set {x ? [0,1): liminfn ? ¥\fraclogqn(x)n=l*, limsupn ? ¥\fraclogqn(x)n=l*}. \left\{x\in [0,1):\ \mathop{\lim\inf}_{n \rightarrow \infty}\frac{\log q_n(x)}{n}=\lambda_{\ast}, \mathop{\lim\sup}_{n \rightarrow \infty}\frac{\log q_n(x)}{n}=\lambda^{\ast}\right\}. It has been proved in [1] and [3] that E*, λ*) is an uncountable set. In the present paper, we strengthen this result by showing that dimE(l*, l*) 3 \fracl* -log\frac1+?522l*\dim E(\lambda_{\ast}, \lambda^{\ast}) \ge \frac{\lambda_{\ast} -\log \frac{1+\sqrt{5}}{2}}{2\lambda^{\ast}}  相似文献

After discussing some basic facts about generalized module maps, we use the representation theory of the algebra ℬa(E) of adjointable operators on a HilbertB-moduleE to show that the quotient of the group of generalized unitaries onE and its normal subgroup of unitaries onE is a subgroup of the group of automorphisms of the range idealB E ofE inB. We determine the kernel of the canonical mapping into the Picard group ofB E in terms of the group of quasi inner automorphisms ofB E . As a by-product we identify the group of bistrict automorphisms of the algebra of adjointable operators onE modulo inner automorphisms as a subgroup of the (opposite of the) Picard group.  相似文献

The class of stable Banach spaces, inspired by the stability theory in mathematical logic, was introduced by Krivine and Maurey and provided the proper context for the abstract formulation of Aldous’ result of subspaces ofL 1. In this paper we study the wider class of weakly stable Banach spaces, where the exchangeability of the iterated limits occurs only for sequences belonging to weakly compact subsets, introduced independently by Garling (in an earlier unpublished version of his expository paper on stable Banach spaces brought recently to our attention) and by the authors. Taking into account Rosenthal’s application of the study of pointwise compact sets of Baire-1 functions (Rosenthal compact spaces) in the study of Banach spaces (for whichl 1 does not embed isomorphically) and of the study of Rosenthal compact sets by Rosenthal and Bourgain-Fremlin-Talagrand, we prove the following analogue of the Krivine-Maurey theorem for weakly stable spaces:If X is infinite dimensional and weakly stable then either l p for some p≧1or co embeds isomorphically in X (§1). Garling (in the above reference) proved this result under the additional assumption thatX* is separable. We also construct an example of a Banach spaceX which is weakly stable, without an equivalent stable norm, and such thatl 2 embeds isomorphically in every infinite dimensional subspace ofX (§3).  相似文献

We study the existence of at least one increasing heteroclinic solution to a scalar equation of the kind  = a(t)V′(x), where V is a non-negative double well potential, and a(t) is a positive, measurable coefficient. We first provide with a complete answer in the definitively autonomous case, when a(t) takes a constant value l outside a bounded interval. Then we consider the case in which a(t) is definitively monotone, converges from above, as t → ±∞, to two positive limits l * and l *, and never goes below min(l *, l *). Furthermore, the convergence to max(l *, l *) is supposed to be not too fast (slower than a suitable exponential term).  相似文献

We prove that for any finite dimensional representation V of a finite group G of order n the quotient variety G??(V) is projectively normal with respect to descent of 𝒪(1)?l where l = lcm{1,2,3,4,…,n}. We also prove that for the tautological representation V of the alternating group An the projective variety An??(V) is projectively normal with respect to the descent of the above line bundle.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce some modular forms of half-integral weight on congruence group Гo(4N) withN an odd positive integer which can be viewed as a natural generalization of Cohen-Eisenstein series. Using these series, we can prove that the restriction of Shimura lifting on Eisenstein spaceE k+1/2 + (4Nl) gives an isomorphism fromE k+1/2 + (4Nl) toE 2k(N). We consider some congruence relationships between modular forms in use of Shimura lifting.  相似文献

Let A be a central simple algebra over a field F. Denote the reduced norm of A over F by Nrd: A* → F* and its kernel by SL1(A). For a field extension K of F, we study the first Galois Cohomology group H 1(K,SL1(A)) by two methods, valuation theory for division algebras and K-theory. We shall show that this group fails to be stable under purely transcendental extension and formal Laurent series.  相似文献

Letτ be a cardinal with cf(τ)>ℵ0. Then a Banach spaceE contains a subspace isomorphic tol l(τ) if and only if [0,1] r is a continuous image of the unit ballE1 ofE′, provided with the w*-topology. It follows that, for each cardinalκ, ifE1 contains a copy ofβκ, thenE has a quotient isomorphic tol (κ). In this situation we show thatE has even a quotientisometric tol (κ).   相似文献

It is well-known that any finitely generated commutative Moufang loop (CML) is centrally nilpotent and has a finite derived subloop. Consequently such a loop possesses all the classical properties of noethe-rianity: any subloop is finitely generated too, any surjective endomorphism is an automorphism, etc. Besides we prove that, in any CML E(finitely generated or not) the maximal subloops are normal of prime index ; thus the Frattini quotient E/Φ(E) is an abelian group, sub-direct product of groups of prime order. We shall study also some dual notion of the Frattini subloop, namely the subloop φ*(E) generated by the minimal normal subloops ; it turns out that φ*(E) is made up by the products of the prime order central elements.  相似文献

In this paper we state and prove the dual pairs correspondences of Spin(4,4)×Spin(8) inE 8,4 andF 4,4×SU2 and Spin(4,4)×SU 2 3 inE 7,4. For the first dual pair, every finite dimensional representation of Spin(8) occurs and each corresponds with finite but unbounded multiplicity to a quaternionic representation of Spin(4,4) having the same infinitesimal character. For the other two dual pairs the correspondences are one to one.  相似文献

LetG ⊂ Aut ℳ be a countable group, ℳ a Von Neumann algebra. LetE be a set of pure states on ℳ such thatG*EE, S G be the set ofG invariant states on ℳ andS E G =S Gw* cl coE. We investigate in this paper some geometric properties for the setS E G which turn out to be equivalent to amenability for the groupG. For example, we show thatS E G ⊂ ℳ* (S E G has the WRNP) implies that ℳ contains minimal projections (ê containsfinite G invariant orbits) hold true, for all ℳ iffG is amenable. Furthermore we show that ifG is amenable thenS GM * contains a big set, thus improving results obtained by Ching Chou in [2]. These results imply that no action of an amenable countable groupG on an arbitraryW* algebra ℳ iss — strongly ergodic. Moreover cardS GM * ≧2 c (see M. Choda [4], K. Schmidt [21] and compare with A. Connes and B. Weiss [5]). The author gratefully acknowledges the support of an Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Senior Fellowship.  相似文献

A group G is said to be in Ek*E_k^* (k a positive integer), if every infinite subset of G contains a pair of elements that generate a k-Engel group.¶It is shown that a finitely generated locally graded group G in Ek*E_k^* is a finite-by- (k-Engel) group, in particular a finite extension of a k-Engel group.  相似文献

The rotation flow on the circle T gives a concrete representation of the irrational rotation algebra, which is an in finite dimensional simple quotient of the group C*‐algebra of the discrete Heisenberg group H3 analogously certain 2‐ and 3‐dimensional Anzai flows on T 2 and T 3are known to give concrete representations of the corresponding quotients of the group C*‐algebras of the groups H4 and H5,5. Considered here is the (minimal, effective) 4‐dimensional Anzai flow F = (ℤ, T 4) generated by the homeomorphism (y, x, w, v) ↦ (λy, yx, xw, wv); a group H6,10 is determined by F the faithful in finite dimensional simple quotients of whose group C*‐algebra C*‐(H6,10 have concrete representations given by F. Furthermore, the rest of the infinite dimensional simple quotients of C*‐(H6,10 are identified and displayed as C*‐crossed products generated by minimal effective actions and also as matrix algebras over simple C*‐algebras from groups of lower dimension; these lower dimensional groups are H3 and subgroups of H4 and H5,5.  相似文献

It is well known that in the case of the Luxemburg normE Φ (resp.h Φ) is anM ideal inL Φ (resp.l Φ), see [1], [9], [15] and [6]; [17] and [18]. It is proved in this paper that in the case of the Orlicz normE Φ (resph Φ) is anM-ideal inL Φ (resp.l Φ) iff Φ satisfies the suitable Δ2 or Φ*(a(Φ*)), where a(Φ*) is linear on the interval [0,u]} and Φ* denotes the function complementary to Φ in the sense of Young. It is also proved that any linear continuous regular (i.e. order continuous) functional ξυ overE Φ (resp.h Φ) generated byv∈ L(h Φ*) (resp.v∈ L(h Φ*)) which attains its norm on the unit sphereS(E Φ) (resp.S(h Φ)), has a unique norm-preserving extension toL Φ (resp.l Φ). Finally, it is proved thatL Φ (resp.l Φ) has the property that any linear continuous regular functional ξυ overE Φ (resp.h Φ) has a unique norm-preserving extension toL Φ (resp.l Φ) iff Φ orE Φ satisfies the suitable Δ2 and in the second case Φ* attains the value 1.  相似文献

W(R)-splines
In [3] Golomb describes, for 1 < p < ∞, the Hr,p(R)-extremal extension F* of a function ƒ:ER (i.e., the Hr,p-spline with knots in E) and studies the cone H*Er,p of all such splines. We study the problem of determining when F* is in Wr,pHr,pLp. If F* ε Wr,p, then F* is called a Wr,p-spline, and we denote by W*Er,p the cone of all such splines. If E is quasiuniform, then F* ε Wr,p if and only if {ƒ(ti)}tiεE ε lp. The cone W*Er,p with E quasiuniform is shown to be homeomorphic to lp. Similarly, H*Er,p is homeomorphic to hr,p. Approximation properties of the Wr,p-splines are studied and error bounds in terms of the mesh size ¦ E ¦ are calculated. Restricting ourselves to the case p = 2 and to quasiuniform partitions E, the second integral relation is proved and better error bounds in terms of ¦ E ¦ are derived.  相似文献

It is proved that every automorphism of an elementary adjoint Chevalley group of type A l , D l , or E l over a local commutative ring with 1/2 is a composition of a ring automorphism and conjugation by some matrix from the normalizer of that Chevalley group in GL(V) (V is an adjoint representation space).  相似文献

We describe an action of the symmetric group Σ n on A ? n ? 1, the n ? 1-fold tensor product of A over K, for (K,A) a Hopf algebroid. This arises in a natural way in stable homotopy theory: when A = E * E, the ‘co-operations’ in the cohomology theory associated to a suitable ring spectrum E, this action is induced from the natural action on the n-fold smash product E (n). The case n = 2 is classical: the switch action of Σ2 on EE induces the canonical conjugation of E * E. Therefore we may think of the symmetric group actions as ‘higher order conjugation maps’.  相似文献

We give a new set of axioms defining the concept of (B*)-plane (i.e. Minkowski plane without the tangency property) and we show that every (B*)-plane in which a condition similar to the “Fano condition” of Heise and Karzel (see [5, § 3]) holds, is a Minkowski plane over a perfect field of characteristic two. In particular, every finite (B*)-plane of even order is a Minkowski plane over a field. Consequences for strictly 3-transitive groups are derived from the preceding results; in particular, every strictly 3-transitive set of permutations of odd degree containing the identity is a protective group PGL2(GF(2 n )) over a finite field GF(2 n , for some positive integer n.  相似文献

Let Σn be the symmetric group on n letters. For l ≤ n identify Σl with a subgroup of Σn in the natural way. Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. This article begins to develop a theory for modules over the centralizer algebras kΣnΣl that is analogous to James's theory of permutation modules, Specht modules, and simple modules over kΣn. We make a conjecture about how to construct all simple kΣnΣl-modules, we develop tools to test the conjecture, and we prove that it is correct for all n when l < p.  相似文献
