Rate constant ratios k(T)/k(1,500K) for two symmetrical reactions H? + H2 → H2 + H? and H+ + H2 → H2 + H+ are reported. Direct method based on quantum instanton approximation for evaluation of the temperature dependence of the quantum‐mechanical reaction rate constant is used. Implementation of the theory involves thermodynamic integration and path integral Monte Carlo method. Results of anionic case shows resemblance to neutral case, whereas cationic case is significantly different and below 1,000K rate constant shows strong deviation form linearity of Arrhenius plot due to high activation barrier. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate constants for the OH + α‐pinene and OH + β‐pinene reactions have been measured in 5 Torr of He using discharge‐flow systems coupled with resonance fluorescence and laser‐induced fluorescence detection of the OH radical. At room temperature, the measured effective bimolecular rate constant for the OH + α‐pinene reaction was (6.08 ± 0.24) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. These results are in excellent agreement with previous absolute measurements of this rate constant, but are approximately 13% greater than the value currently recommended for atmospheric modeling. The measured effective bimolecular rate constant for the OH + β‐pinene reaction at room temperature was (7.72 ± 0.44) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, in excellent agreement with previous measurements and current recommendations. Above 300 K, the effective bimolecular rate constants for these reactions display a negative temperature dependence suggesting that OH addition dominates the reaction mechanisms under these conditions. This negative temperature dependence is larger than that observed at higher pressures. The measured rate constants for the OH + α‐pinene and OH + β‐pinene reactions are in good agreement with established reactivity trends relating the rate constant for OH + alkene reactions with the ionization potential of the alkene when ab initio calculated energies for the highest occupied molecular orbital are used as surrogates for the ionization potentials for α‐ and β‐pinene. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The reactants, products, and saddle point for the reaction H2 + CN → H + HCN have been studied by ab initio calculations. The computed structures, frequencies, and energetics are compared directly to available measurements and, indirectly, to experimental rateconstants. The theoretical rate constants used in the comparison are calculated with conventional transition state theory. By reduction of the computed reaction barrier to 4.1 kcal mol,?1 good agreement with experimental rate constants is obtained over a 3250-K temperature range. This computed rate constant is well represented by the form 4.9 × 10?18 T2.45 e?1, 126/T over the temperature range of 250 K–3500 K. Substantial reaction rate curvature is found due to low-frequency bending modes at the saddle point. The results for this reaction are compared to other abstraction reactions involving H atom transfer to identify correlations between reaction exothermicity and both abstraction barriers and reaction rate curvature.  相似文献

Rate constants for the reaction OH + CO have been measured as functions of temperature (340–1220 K) and water concentration in the presence of 1 atm of argon. Results at zero water concentration yield the expression, log k? (cm3 molecule?1 S?1) = ?12.96 + 4.7 × 10?4 T, for the reaction rate constant as a function of temperature. These results are in very good agreement with previous direct measurements and in reasonable agreement with flame and shock tube measurements. Explanations are offered for the involvement of the water molecule in the present experiments and earlier measurements from this laboratory throughout the entire temperature range. Results are consistent with previous results showing little, if any, pressure effect of Ar on the reaction up to 1 atm of Ar.  相似文献

The photolysis was investigated at 313 nm wavelength, 253–529 K temperatures, and 4 × 10?11-2 × 10?9 mol·photon/cm2·sec light intensities by determining the quantum yields of 20 reaction products. Primary quantum yields for the seven primary processes and rate constant ratios, rate constants, and Arrhenius parameters for secondary processes were derived on the basis of the suggested reaction scheme. The dependence of the quantum yields of the four major primary processes on experimental conditions was established.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism for the reaction of NH2 with HONO2 have been investigated by ab initio calculations with rate constant prediction. The potential energy surface of this reaction has been computed by single‐point calculations at the CCSD(T)/6‐311+G(3df, 2p) level based on geometries optimized at the B3LYP/6‐311+G(3df, 2p) level. The reaction producing the primary products, NH3 + NO3, takes place via a precursor complex, H2N…HONO2 with an 8.4‐kcal/mol binding energy. The rate constants for major product channels in the temperature range 200–3000 K are predicted by variational transition state or variational Rice–Ramsperger–Kassel–Marcus theory. The results show that the reaction has a noticeable pressure dependence at T < 900 K. The total rate constants at 760 Torr Ar‐pressure can be represented by ktotal = 1.71 × 10?3 × T?3.85 exp(?96/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 200–550 K, 5.11 × 10?23 × T+3.22 exp(70/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 550–3000 K. The branching ratios of primary channels at 760 Torr Ar‐pressure are predicted: k1 producing NH3 + NO3 accounts for 1.00–0.99 in the temperature range of 200–3000 K and k2 + k3 producing H2NO + HONO accounts for less than 0.01 when temperature is more than 2600 K. The reverse reaction, NH3 + NO3 → NH2 + HONO2 shows relatively weak pressure dependence at P < 100 Torr and T < 600 K due to its precursor complex, NH3…O3N with a lower binding energy of 1.8 kcal/mol. The predicted rate constants can be represented by k?1 = 6.70 × 10?24 × T+3.58 exp(?850/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 200–3000 K and 760 Torr N2 pressure, where the predicted rate at T = 298 K, 2.8 × 10?16 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 is in good agreement with the experimental data. The NH3 + NO3 formation rate constant was found to be a factor of 4 smaller than that of the reaction OH + HONO2 producing the H2O + NO3 because of the lower barrier for the transition state for the OH + HONO2. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate constants of the reaction between OH and H2S in He, N2, and O2 over the temperature range 245–450 K have been determined using the discharge flow-resonance fluorescence technique. At 299 K, k1 = (4.4 ± 0.7) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. The temperature dependence of the rate constant can be fitted either by k1 = 5.6 × 10?12 exp(?57/T) or by k1 = (3.8 × 10?19)T2.43 exp(732/T) to within 8 and 9%, respectively. However, the non-Arrhenius behavior can be confidently confirmed. The absence of the pressure dependence and the third-body effect at low temperature suggest that the complex formation mechanism is not important over the temperature range of our study.  相似文献

The rate constant of the reaction between OH and OCS in helium over the temperature range 255–483 K has been determined using the discharge flow-resonance fluorescence technique. The OCS has been carefully purified to avoid interference from H2S and CO impurities. An FTIR with a multireflection cell was used to determine the impurity concentrations and the purified sample was found to contain less than 0.005% of H2S. At 300 K, the rate constant was determined to be (2.0 ±0.40.8) × 10?15 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. Although the rate constants showed slight positive deviation at lower temperatures, thev can be satisfactorily fitted by the Arrhenius equation, k = 1.13 × 10?13 exp(?1200/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1. No pressure dependence was observed at all temperatures, nor was O2 enhancement observed under our experimental conditions.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the rate coefficient for the reaction, OH + HBr has been reinvestigated at low temperatures (T = 48–224 K) by using uniform supersonic flow reactors with laser induced fluorescence detection. This paper presents two forms of global fits: k(T) = 1.11 × 10?11 (T/298)?0.91 cm3 s?1 and k(T) = 1.06 × 10?11 (T/298)?1.09 cm3 s?1, both of which accurately describe the temperature dependence of the rate coefficient for the title reaction within the temperature range 20–350 K. These fits indicate that at temperatures below 200 K, the rate coefficient for this reaction shows inverse temperature dependence, while above 200 K the reaction shows insignificant temperature dependence. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Rate constants for the gas-phase reactions of the Cl atom with a series of alkanes have been determined at 296 ± 2 K using a relative rate method. Using a rate constant for the Cl atom reaction with n-butane of 1.94 × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, the rate constants obtained (in units of 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1) were: 2-methylpentane, 25.0 ± 0.8; 3-methylpentane, 24.8 ± 0.6; cyclohexane, 30.8 ± 1.2; cyclohexane-d12, 25.6 ± 0.8; 2,4-dimethylpentane, 25.6 ± 1.2; 2,2,3-trimethylbutane, 17.9 ± 0.7; methylcyclohexane, 34.7 ± 1.2; n-octane, 40.5 ± 1.2; 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, 23.1 ± 0.8; 2,2,3,3-tetramethylbutane, 15.6 ± 0.9; n-nonane, 42.9 ± 1.2; n-decane, 48.7 ± 1.8; and cis-bicyclo[4.4.0]decane, 43.1 ± 0.8, where the indicated errors are two least-squares standard deviations and do not include the uncertainties in the n-butane rate constant. These data have been combined with rate constants obtained previously for ten C2? C7 alkanes and this entire data set has been used to develop an estimation method allowing the room temperature rate constants for the reactions of the Cl atom with alkanes to be calculated. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Rate constants for the removal of Cl atoms in the reaction Cl + O3 → ClO + O2 were measured by the flash photolysis resonance fluorescence technique over the temperature range 213–298 K. The rate constant is given by the Arrhenius expression (2.94 ± 0.49) × 10?11 exp[?(298 ± 39)/T] in units of cm3 molecule?1 s?1. Comparison with recent results from other laboratories are presented.  相似文献

The kinetics and absolute rate constants of the gas-phase reaction of the hydroxymethyl radical (CH2OH) with molecular oxygen have been studied using laser photolysis/near-IR absorption spectroscopy. The reaction was tracked by monitoring the time-dependent changes in the production of the hydroperoxy radical (HO2) concentration. For sensitive detection of HO2, two-tone frequency modulation absorption spectroscopy was used in combination with a Herriott-type optical multipass absorption cell. Rate constants were determined as a function of temperature (236 K相似文献

The kinetics of oxidation of alanine and phenylalanine by sodium N-chlorobenzene sulfonamide (CAB) has been investigated at 30°C in two ranges of acid concentrations. The reactions follow identical kinetics for both amino acids. At low acid concentration (0.03–0.10M), simultaneous catalysis by H+ and Cl? ions is noted. The rate shows a first-order dependence on [CAB], but is independent of [substrate]. A variation of the ionic strength or the dielectric constant of the medium or the presence of the added reaction product benzene sulfonamide (BSA) has no pronounced effect on the rate. At [HCl] > 0.2M, the rate is independent of [H+], but shows a first-order dependence on [CAB] and a fractional-order dependence on [amino acid]. The addition of BSA or Cl? ions, or a change in the ionic strength of the medium has no influence on the rate. Upon decreasing the dielectric constant of the medium, the rate increased, indicating positive ion–dipole interaction in the rate-determining step. The reaction was studied at different temperatures, and activation parameters have been computed. Rate laws in agreement with experimental results have been derived. Suitable mechanisms to account for the observed kinetics are proposed. The rate constants obtained from the derived rate laws as [H+], [Cl?], and [substrate] vary are in excellent agreement with the observed rate constants, thus justifying the proposed rate laws and hence the suggested mechanistic schemes.  相似文献

The rate constant for the reaction of OH with 3‐methylfuran was measured at 2, 4, and 6 Torr using discharge‐flow techniques coupled with laser‐induced fluorescence detection of OH. The measured rate constant (k) at 298 ± 2 K was (9.1 ± 0.3) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, where the quoted uncertainty reflects twice the standard error of the measurements. This result is in good agreement with previously reported relative rate constant measurements at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. An Arrhenius expression of k = (3.2 ± 0.4) × 10?11 e(310 ± 40)/T cm3 molecule?1 s?1 was determined from measurements of the rate constant between 273 and 368 K. The negative temperature dependence agrees with previously reported theoretical calculations for the reaction of OH with 3‐methylfuran and previously reported measurements of the temperature dependences of the rate constants for the reaction of OH with similar heterocyclic organics such as furan and thiophene.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism for the reaction of NH2 with HONO have been investigated by ab initio calculations with rate constant prediction. The potential energy surface of this reaction has been computed by single‐point calculations at the CCSD(T)/6‐311+G(3df, 2p) level based on geometries optimized at the CCSD/6‐311++G(d, p) level. The reaction producing the primary products, NH3 + NO2, takes place via precomplexes, H2N???c‐HONO or H2N???t‐HONO with binding energies, 5.0 or 5.9 kcal/mol, respectively. The rate constants for the major reaction channels in the temperature range of 300–3000 K are predicted by variational transition state theory or Rice–Ramsperger–Kassel–Marcus theory depending on the mechanism involved. The total rate constant can be represented by ktotal = 1.69 × 10?20 × T2.34 exp(1612/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 300–650 K and 8.04 × 10?22 × T3.36 exp(2303/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 650–3000 K. The branching ratios of the major channels are predicted: k1 + k3 producing NH3 + NO2 accounts for 1.00–0.98 in the temperature range 300–3000 K and k2 producing OH + H2NNO accounts for 0.02 at T > 2500 K. The predicted rate constant for the reverse reaction, NH3 + NO2 → NH2 + HONO represented by 8.00 × 10?26 × T4.25 exp(?11,560/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1, is in good agreement with the experimental data. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A discussion of reactants vibrational energy and temperature dependence of reactive rate constants for the hydrogen atom hydrogen molecule reaction is presented for a matrix of values calculated at 0 < v <10 and temperatures in the range from 300 K to 4000 K. A parametrization ofthe results is attempted. A comparison with rate constant values obtained from an approximate quantum treatment is also reported.  相似文献

The kinetics and mechanism for the reaction of NH2 with HNO have been investigated by ab initio calculations with rate constant prediction. The potential energy surface of this reaction has been computed by single‐point calculations at the CCSD(T)/6‐311+G(3df, 2p) level based on geometries optimized at the CCSD/6‐311++G(d, p) level. The major products of this reaction were found to be NH3 + NO formed by H‐abstraction via a long‐lived H2N???HNO complex and the H2NN(H)O radical intermediate formed by association with 26.9 kcal/mol binding energy. The rate constants for formation of primary products in the temperature range of 300–3000 K were predicted by variational transition state or RRKM theories. The predicted total rate constants at the 760 Torr Ar pressure can be represented by ktotal = 3.83 × 10?20 × T+2.47exp(1450/T) at T = 300–600 K; 2.58 × 10?22 × T+3.15 exp(1831/T) cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at T = 600?3000 K. The branching ratios of major channels at 760 Torr Ar pressure are predicted: k1 + k3 + k4 producing NH3 + NO accounts for 0.59–0.90 at T = 300–3000 K peaking around 1000 K, k2 accounts for 0.41–0.03 at T = 300–600 K decreasing with temperature, and k5 accounts for 0.07–0.27 at T > 600 K increasing gradually with temperature. The NH3 + NO formation rate constant was found to be a factor of 3–10 smaller than that of the isoelectronic reaction CH3 + HNO producing CH4 + NO, which has been shown to take place by barrierless H‐abstraction without involving a hydrogen‐bonding complex as in the NH2 case. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Rate parameters for the reaction of ground-state atomic sulfur, S(3P), with the olefins cis-2-butene and tetramethylethylene have been determined over a temperature range of ∽280°K. A major finding of this study was that the rate constants for both reactions showed negative temperature dependencies. When k is expressed in the form of an Arrhenius equation, this necessarily leads to negative activation energies: k1 = (4.68 ± 0.70) × 10?12 exp (+0.23 ± 0.09 kcal/mole)/RT (219°-500°K) k2 = (4.68 ± 1.70) × 10?12 exp (+1.29 ± 0.23 kcal/mole)/RT (252°-500°K) Units are cm3 molec?1s?1. When a threshold energy of 0.0 kcal/mole is assumed for reaction (2), the temperature dependence of the preexponential term has a value of T?2. Making the usual simplifying assumptions, neither collision theory nor transition state theory leads to a preexponential factor with a strong enough negative temperature dependence. A comparison of these results with those derived from studies of the reactions of atomic oxygen, O(3P), with the same olefins shows that in both studies simple bimolecular processes were being examined. Also discussed are the possible experimental and theoretical ramifications of these new results.  相似文献

Kinetics and mechanism of the hydrogen abstraction reaction between trifluoromethyl formate, CF3OCHO, and OH radical have been investigated by using ab initio molecular orbital theory up to G2(MP2) level. The hydrogen abstraction rate constant has been calculated for the first time over a temperature range of 250–450 K by using standard transition state theory including the tunneling correction. Arrhenius parameters of the reaction have been estimated from the temperature dependence of the calculated rate constant. The calculated value for the rate constant (2.0 × 10?14 cm3 molecule?1 s?1) at 298 K is found to be in very good agreement with the recent experimental results. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The adiabatic capture centrifugal sudden approximation (ACCSA) has been applied to the ground state reaction N+NH-->N2+H over the temperature range 2-300 K using an existent potential energy surface. The resultant thermal rate constants are in agreement with available rate constants from quasi-classical trajectory calculations but are significantly larger than the available experimentally derived rate. The calculated rate constants monotonically increase with increasing temperature but could only be approximately described with a simple Arrhenius-like form. Subtle quantum effects are evident in the initial rotational state resolved cross sections and rate constants.  相似文献
