A modified model for wavelength conversion based on the four-wave mixing (FWM) in a silicon micro-ring resonator is presented. Unlike previous contributions, the nonlinear phase shifts caused by self-phase modulation and cross-phase modulation are also taken into account in the present theoretical analysis besides the linear propagation loss and the nonlinear losses caused by two-photon absorption and free-carrier absorption. Analysis shows that the nonlinear phase shifts will cause different red shifts for the pump and signal (or converted) resonant wavelengths, and consequently an additional wavelength difference between the signal transmission dip and the efficiency peak, which will increase/decrease the conversion efficiency of the signal channel far from/near the pump. The conversion efficiency and the conversion peak width of each signal channel are both affected by the micro-ring radius and coupling coefficient. A broader conversion peak width can be obtained by using a micro-ring resonator with a smaller Q factor. 相似文献

A new generation optical lithography using a third harmonic pulse generated by micro-ring resonators
We first propose a new system of a third harmonic generation by using a soliton pulse circulating in the integrated micro-ring devices. By using this system, the ultra-short pulse in the attosecond (as) and beyond can be easily generated. In principle, light pulse known as a soliton pulse is input into a design system. It consist the three-stage micro-ring resonators, where the ring radii are within the range between 5 and 35 μm. With the appropriate parameters such as ring radius, coupling ratio and nonlinear refractive index, the attosecond pulse is generated by filtering the chaotic signals within the micro-ring devices. One of the results obtained has shown that the generation of the ultra narrow pulse (spectral width) and sharp tip is achieved. The potential of using such a pulse for picometer (pm)-scale lithography is plausible. 相似文献

An analysis of a new technique for quantum key distribution (QKD) using the entangled photon within a micro ring resonator is presented. The Kerr nonlinear type of light in the micro ring resonator induces the nonlinear behavior known as chaos within the device, where the superposition of the chaotic signals via a four-wave mixing type introduces the clear second-harmonic pulses. The generation of clear second-harmonic pulses is achieved by controlling the appropriate ring parameters. When the polarization control devices are applied into the system, the optimal entangle photon visibility is obtained. The condition for long-distance link is discussed, where the optimal entangled photon visibility in term of Bell's states is described. 相似文献

We firstly present an experimental investigation of the entangled photon states’ recovery using a fiber optic ring resonator incorporating an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The weak light entangled photons can be recovered in both amplitude and states after the optical pumping and polarization control parts are used in the system. A new experimental result of the investigation of thermal effects on the entangled states’ walk-off and compensations has shown that the entangled photon walk-off compensation is achieved by using a pair of polarization control devices. The relationship between thermal effects and the entangled states’ phase shift is investigated and discussed. The walk-off compensation due to temperature changes from 30 to 80 °C is achieved. This shows that the changes in phase of the entangled photons can be negligible when the compensation is employed. 相似文献
