The statistical distributions of optical vortices or topological charge in stochastic optical fields can be inhomogeneous in both transverse directions. Such two-dimensional inhomogeneous vortex or topological charge distributions evolve in a complex way during free-space propagation. While the evolution of one-dimensional topological charge densities can be described by a linear diffusion process, the evolution of two-dimensional topological charge densities exhibits some additional nonlinear dynamics. Here we propose a phase drift mechanism as a partial explanation for this additional nonlinear dynamics. Numerical results are presented in support of this proposal.  相似文献

The evolution of the global topological charge in a general polynomial astigmatic Gaussian beam is investigated. The leading order terms of the polynomial prefactor determines the global topological charge and can be expressed as a product of first order polynomials, each representing an optical vortex function. We show that the global topological charge is bounded by the order of the polynomial and change during propagation in steps of 2 every time one of the optical vortices undergo topological charge inversion. We investigate the locations of the flip planes where charge inversions occur and provide expressions for a number of special cases. Numerical results are provided for an example of such a polynomial astigmatic Gaussian beam.  相似文献

推导出寄居于高斯光束中的光涡旋偶极子经过半屏衍射后的解析传输公式.利用所得公式对光涡旋偶极子经半屏衍射后的演化做了详细研究.结果表明,与自由空间中光涡旋偶极子演化相比较,衍射场中会出现多对光涡旋偶极子,湮没方式与离轴量有关.随离轴参数的变化,偶极子出现不同的演化特性,但在演化过程中,拓扑电荷守恒. 关键词: 光涡旋偶极子 半屏衍射 拓扑电荷  相似文献

The propagation of optical vortices in coiled anisotropic elliptical fibers is studied. The structure of high-order modes and their propagation constants are determined. The possibility of the generation of TE and TM modes from optical vortices with a unit topological charge in weakly anisotropic coiled fibers is demonstrated. The topological effects that arise upon the propagation of radiation along strongly anisotropic elliptical coiled fibers are investigated. It is established that topological effects are suppressed by anisotropy in the case of the propagation of l = 1 modes; the effects are manifested in these fibers in the form of the rotation of the field intensity distribution by a solid angle spanned by the light trajectory only for certain combinations of l > 1 modes.  相似文献

Encoding information using the topological charge of vortex beams has been proposed for optical communications. The conservation of the topological charge on propagation and the detection of the topological charge by a receiver are significant in these applications and have been well established in free-space. However, when vortex beams enter a diffuser,the wavefront is distorted, leading to a challenge in the conservation and detection of the topological charge. Here, we present a technique to measure the value of the topological charge of a vortex beam obscured in the randomly scattered light. The results of the numerical simulations and experiments are presented and are in good agreement. In particular, only a single-shot measurement is required to detect the topological charge of vortex beams, indicating that the method is applicable to a dynamic diffuser.  相似文献

Model of Gaussian vortex beam propagation through an optical system with the Cassegrain-telescope receiver in turbulent atmosphere is established. With this model, the analytical formulas of the average intensity distribution at the receiver plane are derived, and the influences of the optical topological charge, the propagation distance and the turbulence strength are numerically analyzed. These studies show that optical power at the receiver plane concentrates in an annular area, which is suitable for power coupling by the Cassegrain-telescope receiver; the optical topological charge of the vortex source need to be optimized to access the most power coupling. Under the H-V 5/7 turbulence model, power coupling efficiencies of the optical system with different parameters are calculated. Results show that in comparison with the Gaussian beams, Gaussian vortex beams have great advantages in power coupling of optical systems with the Cassegrain-telescope receivers in turbulent atmosphere, which can be a new attractive application of the vortex beams.  相似文献

Taking two Laguerre-Gaussian beams with topological charge 1 = ±1 as an example, this paper studies the composite optical vortices formed by two noncollinear Laguerre-Gaussian beams with different phases, amplitudes, waist widths, off-axis distances, and their propagation in free space. It is shown by detailed numerical illustrative examples that the number and location of composite vortices at the waist plane are variable by varying the relative phase β, amplitude ratio η, waist width ratio ξ, or off-axis distance ratio μ. The net topological charge lnet is not always equal to the sum lsum of charges of the two component beams. The motion, creation and annihilation of composite vortices take place in the free-space propagation, and the net charge during the propagation remains unchanged and equals to the net charge at the waist plane.  相似文献

By using wave optics numerical simulation, the intensity-hole effect, beam spreading and wandering properties of Gaussian vortex beam propagation in atmospheric turbulence are investigated quantitatively. It is found that an intensity hole in the center of the beam pattern appears gradually as a Gaussian vortex beam propagates. The size of the intensity hole increases with the increase of the topological charge of the vortex phase. However, the intensity hole could to some extent be filled with optical energy by atmospheric turbulence, especially in strong turbulence. The radius of the intensity hole first decreases and then increases with the growth of turbulence strength. The effective radius of vortex beam with larger topological charge is greater than with a smaller topological charge. But the topological charge has no evident influence on beam wandering.  相似文献

在近轴光束近似条件下,采用交叉谱密度传输公式推导了 部分相干涡旋光束传输一段距离后观测平面上交叉谱密度矩阵元的解析表达式, 在此基础上对观测平面上的光强分布进行了分析.研究表明, 和完全相干涡旋光束不同,部分相干涡旋光束传输后光斑中心点的光强会逐渐凸现出来, 随着传输距离的增加,观测平面上的光强会逐渐演变为类似高斯型分布的特性. 这种演变规律与源平面上光源的拓扑电荷数和相干长度有关, 在其他参数不变的情况下,拓扑电荷数越小,相干长度越短, 演变为高斯型光斑的速度越快.最后针对一阶部分相干高斯涡旋光束, 通过观测平面上光强极值研究,对光斑随传输距离演变的过程进行了详细的分析, 在理论上对这种演变规律给出了严格的证明.  相似文献

Analytical and numerical investigation of the propagation of optical beams in Kerr-like saturable photorefractive media is carried out, utilizing a novel model for the local isotropic part of the space-charge field generated in the medium. Using a variational technique, optimal propagation parameters for the most stable propagation of otherwise unstable single Gaussian, single vortex, and optical soliton cluster beams are determined. Analogy between a ring of identical weakly overlapping solitons and a vortex of the same topological charge is explored.  相似文献

The effect of tilt and astigmatism aberration of the turbulent atmosphere on the intensity distribution of a focused vortex carrying Gaussian beam was investigated based on the extended Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction integral and the quadratic approximation of phase structure function. Our results have shown that the intensity distribution on the focal plane in the effect of tilt aberration changes with the turbulent strength, the propagation distance and the topological charge of the initial beam. The propagation distance is larger, the focal spot size will be larger, and the central dip will be less deep. It is also noticed that the intensity distribution of a beam with single topological charge is affected more by tilt aberration in comparison to the beam with double topological charge. The effect of astigmatism on the intensity distribution is quite less than that of tilt aberration. For focused beam propagation in atmosphere, the effect of the tilt aberration on the intensity distribution of optical vortex beam is the main effect of total turbulent aberration.  相似文献

We study propagation characteristics of hypergeometric Gaussian beam in turbulence. In this context, we formulate the receiver plane intensity using extended Huygens–Fresnel integral. From the graphical results, it is seen that, after propagation, hypergeometric Gaussian will in general assume the shape of a dark hollow beam at topological charges other than zero. Increasing values of topological charge will make the beam broader with steeper walls. On the other hand, higher values of hollowness parameter will contract into a narrower shape. Raising the topological charge or the hollowness parameter individually will cause outer rings to appear. Both increased levels of turbulence and longer propagation distances will accelerate the beam evolution and help reach the final Gaussian shape sooner. At lower wavelengths, there will be less beam spreading.  相似文献

一些实验表明, 实际大气会偏离理想Kolmogorov模型. 本文基于广义Huygens-Fresnel原理和Toselli等提出的非Kolmogorov湍流模型, 推导出部分相干双曲正弦-Gauss (HSG)涡旋光束通过非Kolmogorov大气湍流的解析传输公式, 并用以对两束部分相干HSG涡旋光束相干叠加和非相干叠加形成的合成相干涡旋在非Kolmogorov大气湍流中的动态演化进行了研究. 结果表明, 合成光束平均光强的演化过程与非Kolmogorov湍流的广义指数α, 源平面上叠加涡旋光束拓扑电荷的符号, 以及叠加方式有关. 合成相干涡旋在非Kolmogorov大气湍流中传输时会出现移动、产生和湮灭. 广义指数α, 拓扑电荷符号, 以及叠加方式都会影响其演化行为. 最后, 将本文所得结果与相关文献做了比较.  相似文献

Analytical expressions for higher-order modes with azimuthal number |?|≥ 2and their propagation constants for multielliptical optical fibers exhibiting a torsional mechanical stress are obtained in the vicinity of the resonance twist-pitch values. It is demonstrated that the resonance modes represent a superposition of two optical vortices with identical circular polarization and opposite signs of the topological charge. The effect of topological-charge inversion of the output optical vortex controlled by a change of sign of the circular polarization of the input beam is predicted. This effect paves the way to creating a logical CNOT element based on multielliptical fibers.  相似文献

基于强度二阶矩定义, 导出了高斯涡旋光束光束传输因子即M2 因子的解析表达式, 高斯涡旋光束的M2 因子唯一取决于拓扑电荷数n. 数值计算表明, 高斯涡旋光束的M2 因子随着拓扑电荷数n的增大而增大. 基于强度高阶矩, 还导出了高斯涡旋光束经傍轴ABCD光学系统传输时峭度参数的解析表达式, 高斯涡旋光束的峭度参数取决于拓扑电荷数n、参数δ、矩阵元A和矩阵元D. 在自由空间传输时, 高斯涡旋光束的峭度参数仅取决于拓扑电荷数n和参数δ. 自由空间传输时, 高斯涡旋光束峭度参数的变化规律为: 峭度参数随参数δ的增大先减小而后趋向于一最小值, 随拓扑电荷数n的增大而减小. 这一研究有助于高斯涡旋光束的实际应用.  相似文献

 推导出被光阑衍射高阶贝塞尔-高斯脉冲光束的场和光强分布的解析公式,对其相位奇点的演化特性做了计算和分析。结果表明,高阶贝塞尔-高斯脉冲光束经光阑衍射后,中心光涡旋始终存在,拓扑电荷守恒。随脉冲频率和脉冲宽度增加,等相位线均沿逆时针方向旋转,涡旋核随脉冲频率增加而减小,而脉冲宽度对涡旋核大小几乎无影响。等相位线随截断参数和传输距离的增加分别沿逆时针和顺时针方向旋转,涡旋核大小随截断参数增加而变化,随传输距离和光束阶数的增加而增大。  相似文献

Topological birefringence of waves in optical fibers resulting from the spin-orbit interaction in the field of optical vortices is manifested, as a rule, in the form of Rytov-Magnus unified optical effect. At the same time, the field transformations caused by this effect are not explicitly related to the evolution of phase dislocations of longitudinal and transverse components of the electric and the magnetic fields. This relation can be provided by the dislocation reactions proposed by Berry. As opposed to the Berry’s approach, where dislocation reactions at the wavefront surface are considered, it is suggested in this work that topological reactions at the specific characteristic surface of the wave field formed by the coordinate representation of the transverse components of the Poynting vector be considered. Using the action of topological birefringence in a low-mode optical fiber as an example, it is shown that the course of a topological reaction in a vector optical field is accompanied by rigorous conservation of the total topological index of the characteristic surface and does not depend on the presence of an interface (where topological charges can originate and annihilate). The total topological index of a dislocation reaction is found to be equal to the absolute value of the sum of the topological charge and the spirality of the vector wave field.  相似文献

实验研究及理论分析了光波场中边位错向螺旋位错的转化行为. 设计了围绕中心沿角向周期排列的多边位错相位结构,实验上通过计算全息图法研究了其对高斯光束的调制作用以及调制光束的传播特性. 结果表明,随着调制光束逐渐演化为类涡旋光束,多边位错结构可以转化为螺旋位错,且位错结构的总相位变化守恒. 结合光场的线动量密度图详细分析了该演化过程,并进一步讨论了多边位错结构中的相位突变值对螺旋位错转化的影响,给出了决定螺旋位错拓扑荷值的定量关系式. 关键词: 边位错 螺旋位错 涡旋光束 拓扑荷  相似文献
