The abundant production of methyl tert‐butyl ether (MTBE) and its widespread use have led to an increase in the potential for human exposure. This work described a simple, fast, sensitive, reliable and low‐cost method for the simultaneous measurement of MTBE and its metabolite, tert‐butyl alcohol (TBA) in human serum by headspace solid‐phase microextraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Extraction conditions were optimized and 40 °C, 10 min, 250 rpm and 0.3 g NaCl for a 1 mL sample were the optimal conditions. This method showed good analytical performance in terms of sensitivity with limits of detection in serum (1 mL) of 0.03 µg/L for MTBE and 0.05 µg/L for TBA, accuracy (mean recovery values) from 75.8% to 85.8%, precision (relative standard deviations) <10% and sample stability (biodegradation) <10% after 28 days. A verification experiment proved the reproducibility and stability of this method as well. Finally the method was used to detect 212 specimens, and the internal dose levels for MTBE in human serum were presented in China. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

tert‐Butyl‐substituted poly(ether ether ketone) (tBuPEEK), which does not undergo crystallization with thermal annealing, crystallizes readily when treated with compressed CO2. The dissolved CO2 causes a reduction in the glass‐transition temperature of the polymer–gas system and enhances the chain mobility of the macromolecules, thereby bringing about crystallization. In the presence of CO2, crystallization is increasingly favored with increasing CO2 pressure and treatment temperature. The melting point of tBuPEEK crystals increases linearly with the CO2 pressure applied in the treatment, indicating an increase in the order and/or size of the crystals. The extent of crystallinity increases when small amounts of methanol or dichloromethane are used as a cosolute with CO2. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. We report ignition delay time measurements for methyl propanoate (MP) and methyl acrylate (MA), carried out in a high-pressure shock tube. Experiments were performed behind reflected shock waves across a temperature range of 989-1 367 K, for fuel-air mixtures at equivalence ratios of ϕ = 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0, and nominal pressures of 1 and 4 MPa. Ignition delay times were found to decrease with increasing temperature, equivalence ratio, and pressure, and are well described with correlations involving Arrhenius temperature dependence and power-law dependence on equivalence ratio and pressure. Ignition delay times are compared with model predictions from literature kinetic models, with the models of Zhang et al (Energy & Fuels 2014; 28(11): 7194-7202) and Bennadji et al (International Journal of Chemical Kinetics 2011; 43(4): 204-218.) in good agreement with measured ignition delay times for MP and MA, respectively. Kinetic sensitivity analysis shows that the reactions most important for modeling ignition fall into two categories: initiation reactions (ie, decomposition and H-atom abstraction) and C0-C1 chemistry controlling the pool of small radicals. The unsaturated MA was observed to have lower reactivity than MP, due to its greater bond strengths for C─C and C─H bonds, resulting in slower rates for initiation reactions. 相似文献

Hydroxyl‐terminated poly(ether ether ketone) with pendent tert‐butyl groups (PEEKTOH) was synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 4,4′‐difluorobenzophenone with tert‐butyl hydroquinone with potassium carbonate as a catalyst and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as a solvent. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A epoxy resin was toughened with PEEKTOHs having different molecular weights. The melt‐mixed binary blends were homogeneous and showed a single composition‐dependent glass‐transition temperature (Tg). Kelley–Bueche and Gordon–Taylor equations gave good correlation with the experimental Tg. Scanning electron microscopy studies of the cured blends revealed a two‐phase morphology. A sea‐island morphology in which the thermoplastic was dispersed in a continuous matrix of epoxy resin was observed. Phase separation occurred by a nucleation and growth mechanism. The dynamic mechanical spectrum of the blends gave two peaks corresponding to epoxy‐rich and thermoplastic‐rich phases. The Tg of the epoxy‐rich phase was lower than that of the unmodified epoxy resin, indicating the presence of dissolved PEEKTOH in the epoxy matrix. There was an increase in the tensile strength with the addition of PEEKTOH. The fracture toughness increased by 135% with the addition of high‐molecular‐weight PEEKTOH. The improvement in the fracture toughness was dependent on the molecular weight and concentration of the oligomers present in the blend. Fracture mechanisms such as crack path deflection, ductile tearing of the thermoplastic, and local plastic deformation of the matrix occurred in the blends. The thermal stability of the blends was not affected by blending with PEEKTOH. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 44: 541–556, 2006 相似文献

Ionic‐liquid‐mediated poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐ grafted carbon nanotube fiber prepared by the sol–gel technique for the head space solid‐phase microextraction of methyl tert‐butyl ether using GC 下载免费PDF全文
A headspace solid‐phase microextraction method was developed for the preconcentration and extraction of methyl tert‐butyl ether. An ionic‐liquid‐mediated multiwalled carbon nanotube–poly(dimethylsiloxane) hybrid coating, which was prepared by covalent functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes with hydroxyl‐terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) using the sol–gel technique, was used as solid‐phase microextraction adsorbent. This innovative fiber exhibited a highly porous surface structure, high thermal stability (at least 320°C) and long lifespan (over 210 uses). Potential factors affecting the extraction efficiency were optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the method LOD (S/N = 3) was 0.007 ng/mL and the LOQ (S/N = 10) was 0.03 ng/mL. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.03–200 ng/mL. The RSDs for one fiber (repeatability, n = 5) at three different concentrations (0.05, 1, and 150 ng/mL) were 5.1, 4.2, and 4.6% and for the fibers obtained from different batches (reproducibility, n = 3) were 6.5, 5.9, and 6.3%, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied to the determination of methyl tert‐butyl ether in different real water samples on three consecutive days. The relative recoveries for the spiked samples with 0.05, 1, and 150 ng/mL were between 94–104%. 相似文献

A systematic study of the terpolymerization of butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate/vinyl acetate (BA/MMA/VAc) is being conducted. In this stage of the study, emulsion terpolymerizations were performed in a 5 L stainless steel pilot plant reactor. The experimental trials were of the two-level factorial type and were designed optimally using a Bayesian method. The design procedure allowed us to improve our knowledge about the process using our prior knowledge and our subjective judgement. The polymers produced were characterized for conversion, composition, molecular weight, and particle size. The Bayesian design of experiments is shown to have several advantages over conventional factorial designs. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Atom transfer radical polymerization conditions with copper(I) bromide/pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (CuBr/PMDETA) as the catalyst system were employed for the polymerization of tert‐butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, and styrene to generate well‐defined homopolymers, diblock copolymers, and triblock copolymers. Temperature studies indicated that the polymerizations occurred smoothly in bulk at 50 °C. The kinetics of tert‐butyl acrylate polymerization under these conditions are reported. Well‐defined poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA; polydispersity index = 1.14) and poly(methyl acrylate) (PMA; polydispersity index = 1.03) homopolymers were synthesized and then used as macroinitiators for the preparation of PtBA‐b‐PMA and PMA‐b‐PtBA diblock copolymers in bulk at 50 °C or in toluene at 60 or 90 °C. In toluene, the amount of CuBr/PMDETA relative to the macroinitiator was important; at least 1 equiv of CuBr/PMDETA was required for complete initiation. Typical block lengths were composed of 100–150 repeat units per segment. A triblock copolymer, composed of PtBA‐b‐PMA‐b‐PS (PS = polystyrene), was also synthesized with a well‐defined composition and a narrow molecular weight dispersity. The tert‐butyl esters of PtBA‐b‐PMA and PtBA‐b‐PMA‐b‐PS were selectively cleaved to form the amphiphilic block copolymers PAA‐b‐PMA [PAA = poly(acrylic acid)] and PAA‐b‐PMA‐b‐PS, respectively, via reaction with anhydrous trifluoroacetic acid in dichloromethane at room temperature for 3 h. Characterization data are reported from analyses by gel permeation chromatography; infrared, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopies; differential scanning calorimetry; and matrix‐assisted, laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry. The assembly of the amphiphilic triblock copolymer PAA90‐b‐PMA80‐b‐PS98 within an aqueous solution, followed by conversion into stable complex nanostructures via crosslinking reactions between the hydrophilic PAA chains comprising the peripheral layers, produced mixtures of spherical and cylindrical topologies. The visualization and size determination of the resulting nanostructures were performed by atomic force microscopy, which revealed very interesting segregation phenomena. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Statistical copolymers of 2-vinylpyridine (VP) with oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylates of two different molecular weights (300 g/mol (OEGMA300) and 1100 g/mol (OEGMA1100)), were prepared by free radical polymerization. The reactivity ratios of these two sets of monomers were estimated using the Finemann–Ross, the inverted Finemann–Ross and the Kelen–Tüdos graphical methods. Structural parameters of the copolymers were obtained by calculating the dyad monomer sequence fractions and the mean sequence length. The effect of the length of the oligo(ethylene glycol) group on the copolymer structure is discussed. The glass-transition temperature (Tg) values of the VP copolymers with OEGMA300 were measured and examined in the frame of several theoretical equations, allowing the prediction of these Tg values. The copolymers of VP with OEGMA1100 exhibited the characteristic melting endotherm, due to the crystallinity of the methacrylate sequences and glass transition temperatures attributed to the PVP sequences. 相似文献

2-(Trimethylsiloxy)butadiene (TMSBD) and 2-(tert-butyldimethylsiloxy)butadiene (TBMSBD) were copolymerized with styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) under free-radical conditions. The obtained polymers were found to contain reactive silyl enol ether groups in a ratio identical to the TMSBD or TBMSBD molar fraction in the copolymer. All investigated samples displayed only 1,4- and 3,4-microstructures. The influence of several experimental factors on the yields, rates of polymerization, microstructures, and copolymer compositions were examined. Monomer reactivity ratios r1 and r2 at 60°C were determined from copolymer composition curves at low conversions. The homopolymerization of TBMSBD was also investigated and results were compared with those previously obtained for TMSBD. A slight increase in rates was observed and was rationalized on the basis of the higher viscosity resulting from the structural change in the monomer. Thermal stabilities of the synthesized polymers were investigated by TGA and their glass transition temperatures were determined by DSC. All measurements are compatible with a possible use of TMSBD and TBMSBD copolymers as reactive polymers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Miscibility of blends consisting of poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) and poly(styreneco-2-vinylnaphthalene) [P(S-co-2VN)] was investigated by means of Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and thermal analysis. Copolymers containing 21, 51, and 84 wt % of styrene were synthesized by radical polymerization. Based on optical clarity and glass transition temperatures, it was shown that the miscibility in P(S-co-2VN)/PVME blends is largely affected by compositions of the copolymers as well as concentrations of the blend. From the FT-IR results, the relative intensity at 1100 cm?1 peak of COCH3 band of PVME and the position of naphthyl ring of 2VN were sensitive to the miscibility of the blends. It was observed that blends of PVME with P(S-co-2VN) of 84 wt % styrene or P(S-co-2VN) of 51 wt % styrene are miscible over the entire concentration ranges of the blends. Blends of PVME with P(S-co-2VN) containing 21 wt % of styrene are immiscible below 65 wt % PVME. In the miscible P(S-co-2VN)/PVME blends, there was observed a large shift in the naphthyl frequency at a characteristic wavelength of 748 cm?1. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

The RAFT (co)polymerization kinetics of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and n‐butyl acrylate (BA) mediated by 2‐cyanoprop‐2‐yl dithiobenzoate was studied with various RAFT concentrations and monomer compositions. The homopolymerization of MMA gave the highest rate. Increasing the BA fraction fBA dramatically decreased the copolymerization rate. The rate reached the lowest point at fMMA ~ 0.2. This observation is in sharp contrast to the conventional RAFT‐free copolymerization, where BA homopolymerization gave the highest rate and the copolymerization rate decreased monotonously with increasing fMMA. This peculiar phenomenon can be explained by the RAFT retardation effect. The RAFT copolymerization rate can be described by 〈Rp〉/〈Rp〉0 = (1 + 2(〈kc〉/〈kt〉)〈K〉)[RAFT]0)?0.5, where 〈Rp〉0 is the RAFT‐free copolymerization rate and 〈K〉 is the apparent addition–fragmentation equilibrium coefficient. A theoretical expression of 〈K〉 based on a terminal model of addition and fragmentation reactions was derived and successfully applied to predict the RAFT copolymerization kinetics with the rate parameters obtained from the homopolymerization systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined poly[methyl(3,3,3‐trifluoropropyl)siloxane]‐b‐polystyrene‐b‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐b‐PtBA) triblock copolymers were prepared by a combination of anionic ring‐opening polymerization of 1,3,5‐trimethyl‐1,3,5‐tris(3′,3′,3′‐trifluoropropyl)cyclotrisiloxane (F3), and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene (St) and tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA), using the obtained α‐bromoisobutyryl‐terminal PMTFPS (PMTFPS‐Br) as the macroinitiators. The ATRP of St from PMTFPS‐Br, as well as the ATRP of tBA from the obtained PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐Br macroinitiators, has typical characteristic of controlled/living polymerization. The results of contact angle measurements for the films of PMTFPS‐b‐PS‐b‐PtBA triblock copolymers demonstrate that the compositions have an effect on the wetting behavior of the copolymer films. For the copolymer films with different compositions, there may be different macroscale or nanoscale structures on the outmost layer of the copolymer surfaces. The films with high content of PtBA blocks exhibit almost no ordered microstructures on the outmost layer of the copolymer surfaces, even though they have microphase‐separated structures in bulk. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is commonly used as chemical additive to increase oxygen content and octane rating of reformulated gasoline. Despite its impact on enhancing cleaner combustion of gasoline, MTBE poses a threat to surface and ground water when gasoline is released into the environment. Methods for onsite analysis of MTBE in water samples are also needed. A less common technique for MTBE detection from water is ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). We describe a method for fast sampling and screening of MTBE from water by solid phase microextraction (SPME) and IMS. MTBE is adsorbed from the head space of a sample to the coating of SPME fiber. The interface containing a heated sample chamber, which couples SPME and IMS, was constructed and the SPME fiber was introduced into the sample chamber for thermal desorption and IMS detection of MTBE vapors. The demonstrated SPME-IMS method proved to be a straightforward method for the detection of trace quantities of MTBE from waters including surface and ground water. We determined the relative standard deviation of 8.3% and detection limit of 5 mg L−1 for MTBE. Because of short sampling, desorption, and detection times, the described configuration of combined SPME and IMS is a feasible method for the detection of hazardous substances from environmental matrices. 相似文献
