In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of a time‐delay ratio‐dependent predator‐prey model with stage structure for the predator. This predator‐prey system conforms to the realistically biological environment. The existence and stability of the positive equilibrium are thoroughly analyzed, and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the stability and instability of the positive equilibrium are obtained for the case without delay. Then, the influence of delay on the dynamics of the system is investigated using the geometric criterion developed by Beretta and Kuang. 26 We show that the positive steady state can be destabilized through a Hopf bifurcation and there exist stability switches under some conditions. The formulas determining the direction and the stability of Hopf bifurcations are explicitly derived by using the center manifold reduction and normal form theory. Finally, some numerical simulations are performed to illustrate and expand our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamics of a system of two van der Pol equations with a finite delay are investigated. We show that there exist the stability switches and a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the zero equilibrium when the delay varies. Using the theory of normal form and the center manifold theorem, the explicit expression for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are derived.  相似文献

In this study, we have considered a prey-predator model reflecting the predator interference with discrete time delay. This delay is regarded as the lag due to gestation. In absence of delay, the criteria for existence of interior equilibrium and its global stability are derived. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we have shown that a Hopf bifurcation may occur when the delay passes its critical value. Finally, we have derived the criteria for stability switches and verified the results through computer simulation.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a two-degrees-of-freedom nonlinear quarter-car model with time-delayed feedback control. It is well known that a time delay has destabilizing effects in mathematical models. However, delays are not necessarily destabilizing. In this work we explore a system where a time delay can be both stabilizing and destabilizing. Using the generalized Sturm criterion, the critical control gain for the delay-independent stability region and critical time delays for stability switches are derived. It is shown that there is a small parameter region for delay-independently stability of the system. Once the controlled system with time delay is not delay-independently stable, the system may undergo stability switches with the variation of the time delay. These stability switches correspond to Hopf bifurcations that occur when the time delays cross critical values. Properties of Hopf bifurcation such as direction and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using the normal form theory and centre manifold theorem. Numerical simulations are provided to support the theoretical analysis. The critical conditions can provide a theoretical guidance for the design of vehicles with significant reduction of vibration in order to increase passengers ride comfort.  相似文献

In this paper we describe an algorithm to determine the instability region of the endemic equilibrium of a delay model for phage–bacteria interaction in open marine environment. The algorithm relies on a new geometric criterion for stability switches introduced by Beretta and Kuang for delay models for which the corresponding characteristic equations have delay-dependent coefficients [6]. The outputs of the algorithm presented in this paper, which can be equivalently applied to similar 2D delay models, show that for this kind of models large delays are usually stabilizing.  相似文献

In this paper, a mathematical model consisting of two harmful phytoplankton and zooplankton with discrete time delays is considered. We prove that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the interior equilibrium as the delay increases. Meanwhile, the phenomenon of stability switches is found under certain conditions. The direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Numerical simulations are given to support the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the effect of mutual interference on the dynamics of a predator-prey system with gestation delay. It has been observed that there is stability switches and system becomes unstable due to the combine effect of mutual interference and time delay. We determine the conditions under which the model system becomes globally asymptotically stable around the non-zero equilibria. By applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem, the explicit formulae which determine the stability and direction of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined. Computer simulations have been carried out to illustrate different analytical findings.  相似文献

The increasing time delay usually destabilizes any dynamical system. In this paper we give an example that in some special cases the opposite effect can be experienced if the time delay is sufficiently great. We investigate the effect of both the parameter in the time delay kernel and diffusion coefficient on the stability of the positive steady state for a diffusive prey-predator system with delay. We obtain the condition of the occurrence of the stability switches of the positive steady state.  相似文献

This paper deals with a mathematical model that describe a genetic regulatory system. The model has a delay which affects the dynamics of the system. We investigate the stability switches when the delay varies, and show that Hopf bifurcations may occur within certain range of the model parameters. By combining the normal form method with the center manifold theorem, we are able to determine the direction of the bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcated periodic solutions. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out to support the analytic results.  相似文献

Deployed in a hostile environment, motes of a Wireless sensor network (WSN) could be easily compromised by the attackers because of several constraints such as limited processing capabilities, memory space, and limited battery life time etc. While transmitting the data to their neighbour motes within the network, motes are easily compromised due to resource constraints. Here time delay can play an efficient role to reduce the adversary effect on motes. In this paper, we propose an epidemic model SEIR (Susceptible–Exposed–Infectious–Recovered) with two time delays to describe the transmission dynamics of malicious signals in wireless sensor network. The first delay accounts for an exposed (latent) period while the second delay is for the temporary immunity period due to multiple worm outbreaks. The dynamical behaviour of worm-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium is shown from the point of stability which switches under some threshold condition specified by the basic reproduction number. Our results show that the global properties of equilibria also depends on the threshold condition and that latent and temporary immunity period in a mote does not affect the stability, but they play a positive role to control malicious attack. Moreover, numerical simulations are given to support the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, an eco-epidemiological model with a stage structure is considered. The asymptotical stability of the five equilibria, the existence of stability switches about positive equilibrium, is investigated. It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the delay τ passes though a critical value. Some explicit formulae determining the stability and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are obtained by using the normal form theory and center manifold theory. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, biological explanations and main conclusions are given.  相似文献

We study the effect of the degree of habitat complexity and gestation delay on the stability of a predator–prey model. It is observed that there is stability switches, and Hopf bifurcation occurs when the delay crosses some critical value. By applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem, the explicit formulae which determine the stability and direction of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined. The qualitative dynamical behavior of the model system is verified with the published data of Paramecium aurelia (prey) and Didinium nasutum (predator) interaction. It is observed that the quantitative level of abundance of system populations depends crucially on the delay parameter if the gestation period exceeds some critical value. However, the fluctuations in the population levels can be controlled completely by increasing the degree of habitat complexity.  相似文献

In this paper.the Lotka-Volterra competition system with discrete and distributed time delays is considered.By analyzing the characteristic equation of the linearized system, the local asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated. Moreover,we discover the delays don't effect the stability of the equilibrium in the delay system. Finally,we can conclude that the positive equilibrium is global asymptotically stable in the delay system.  相似文献

A differential-algebraic model system which considers a prey-predator system with stage structure for prey and harvest effort on predator is proposed. By using the differential-algebraic system theory and bifurcation theory, dynamic behavior of the proposed model system with and without discrete time delay is investigated. Local stability analysis of the model system without discrete time delay reveals that there is a phenomenon of singularity induced bifurcation due to variation of the economic interest of harvesting, and a state feedback controller is designed to stabilize the proposed model system at the interior equilibrium; Furthermore, local stability of the model system with discrete time delay is studied. It reveals that the discrete time delay has a destabilizing effect in the population dynamics, and a phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs as the discrete time delay increases through a certain threshold. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to show the consistency with theoretical analysis obtained in this paper.  相似文献

The destabilising effects of a time delay in mathematical models are well known. However, delays are not necessarily destabilising. In this paper, we explore an example of a biological system where a time delay can be both stabilising and destabilising. This example is a host–pathogen model, incorporating density-dependent prophylaxis (DDP). DDP describes when individual hosts invest more in immunity when population densities are high, due to the increased risk of infection in crowded conditions. In this system, as the delay length increases, there are a finite number of switches between stable and unstable behaviour. These stability switches are demonstrated and characterised using a combination of numerical methods and analysis.  相似文献

Two models of a density dependent predator-prey system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response are systematically considered. One includes the time delay in the functional response and the other does not. The explorations involve the permanence, local asymptotic stability and global asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium for the models by using stability theory of differential equations and Lyapunov functions. For the permanence, the density dependence for predators is shown to give some negative effect for the two models. Further the permanence implies the local asymptotic stability for a positive equilibrium point of the model without delay. Also the global asymptotic stability condition, which can be easily checked for the model is obtained. For the model with time delay, local and global asymptotic stability conditions are obtained.  相似文献

A delayed Lotka–Volterra two-species predator–prey system with discrete hunting delay and distributed maturation delay for the predator population described by an integral with a strong delay kernel is considered. By linearizing the system at the positive equilibrium and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated and Hopf bifurcations are demonstrated. It is found that under suitable conditions on the parameters the positive equilibrium is asymptotically stable when the hunting delay is less than a certain critical value and unstable when the hunting delay is greater than this critical value. Meanwhile, according to the Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations (FDEs), we find that the system can also undergo a Hopf bifurcation of nonconstant periodic solution at the positive equilibrium when the hunting delay crosses through a sequence of critical values. In particular, by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for FDEs, an explicit algorithm determining the direction of Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions occurring through Hopf bifurcations is given. Finally, to verify our theoretical predictions, some numerical simulations are also included at the end of this paper.  相似文献

This article is concerned with a delayed Lotka–Volterra two-species prey–predator diffusion system with a single discrete delay and homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. By applying the implicit function theorem, the asymptotic expressions of positive equilibrium solutions are obtained. And then, the asymptotic stability of positive equilibrium solutions is investigated by linearizing the system at the positive equilibrium solutions and analyzing the associated eigenvalue problem. It is demonstrated that the positive equilibrium solutions are asymptotically stable when the delay is less than a certain critical value and unstable when the delay is greater than this critical value. In addition, it is also found that the system under consideration can undergo a Hopf bifurcation when the delay crosses through a sequence of critical values. Finally, to verify our theoretical predictions, some numerical simulations are also included.  相似文献

A reaction–diffusion system with non-local delay is proposed to describe two competitive planktonic growths in aquatic ecology. The local and global stability of the axial equilibria as well as the positive equilibrium are discussed. Our results show that the delay has no effect on the stability of the axial equilibria; on the other hand, the positive equilibrium can be induced to be locally unstable by the delay. Finally, the corresponding numerical simulations are also demonstrated.  相似文献
