Generation of 320 fs pulses with a distributed feedback dye laser   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A new achromatic distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) arrangement is described. The experimental conditions for subpicosecond pulse generation with the new device were investigated. For the first time, stable generation of subpicosecond pulses (350 fs) at 616 nm was achieved with a DFDL. The simultaneous spectral and autocorrelation measurements showed that the amplified DFDL pulses are nearly transform limited, having a pulse form close to the sech2 shape.  相似文献

A method of formation of the tightly confined, distortion-free, femtosecond pulses in two dimensions (2D) with the step-like decreasing of intensity after a finite length of propagation in free space is described. The pulses are formed by the Fresnel source of modes corresponding to a 2D hollow waveguide with perfectly reflecting walls (material waveguide). The source reproduces in free space a propagation-invariant pulse confined by the waveguide. Unlike the case of material waveguides, when the pulse goes out from the virtual waveguide formed by the Fresnel source its shape does not change, but the intensity immediately drops down to the near-zero level. It is also shown that there is a limit of the duration of pulse beyond which the step-like decay is not observed.  相似文献

用150fs的掺钛蓝宝石激光系统, 在功率密度约为5×1015 W/cm2时 激励氩(Ar)团簇,利用具有空间分辨能力的平场光栅谱仪观察到13—23nm波段Ar的软x射线谱,并观察到Ar的11阶离子谱线.在较宽的激光脉宽和较低的激光功率密度情况下,通过激励Ar团簇,获得 了Ar的高阶电离度的实验结果,且谱线的信噪比明显好于光场感应电离的情况,说明团簇的 形成大幅度地提高了激光能量的吸收效率. 关键词: Ar团簇 超短强激光 软x射线辐射  相似文献

The intra-cavity amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in saturated amplification of nanosecond laser pulses in a 60-cm-aperture KrF laser amplifier is calculated. The experimentally observed high intrinsic efficiency and saturated pulse intensities are numerically simulated. By using the ASE code validated experimentally, high-efficiency energy extraction from a still larger-aperture amplifier for inertial-fusion-energy drivers is predicted. Ultrashort high-energy electron beams are generated by focusing fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses on a thin metal tape at normal incidence. At laser intensities above 1016 W/cm2 , the fs laser plasma ejects copious amounts of electrons in a direction parallel to the target surface. These electrons are directly detected by means of a backside illuminated X-ray CCD, and their energy spectrum is determined with an electrostatic analyzer. The electrons were observed for two laser polarization directions, parallel and perpendicular to the observation direction. At the maximum applied intensity of 2×1017 W/cm2, the energy distribution peaks at around 35 keV with a hot tail detectable up to about 300 keV. The number of electrons per shot at 35 keV is about 5×108 per sterad per keV. Quasi-monoenergetic electron pulses with a relative energy spread of 1% were produced by using a 50-m slit in the beam path after the analyzer. This approach offers great potential for time-resolved studies of plasma, liquid, and surface structures with atomic-scale spatial resolution. PACS 41.75.Fr; 52.38.Kd; 52.70.Nc  相似文献

The setup is a cascade of 3 lasers: A competing cavity dye laser pumped by a XeCl excimer laser, followed by two distributed feedback dye lasers. The typical durations of the pulses from the lasers are 100 ps, 5 ps, and 300 fs, respectively. The output pulses at 497 nm are amplified up to 500 MW. The frequency of a single-mode Ar+ laser atv=582 THz (=515 nm) is stabilized by means of an external iodine cell to a Doppler broadened absorption profile. The —unmodulated — stabilized laser frequency is reproducible to ±1 MHz or ±1.5×10–9 v and can be shifted within a 180 MHz wide range.  相似文献

A compact femtosecond Ti:sapphire ring oscillator composed of chirped mirrors is designed. By accurately optimizing the intra-cavity dispersion and the mode locking range of the ring configuration, we generate laser pulses as short as 7.7fs with a repetition rate as high as 745 MHz. The spectrum spans from 660nm to 94Ohm and the average output power is 480mW under the cw pump laser of 7.5 W.  相似文献

Laser photoionization has been used to detect trace amounts of plutonium. A high sensitivity and selectivity has been achieved by applying three-step excitation and ionization of the plutonium atoms with high pulse-repetition rates and additional mass determination by time-of-flight measurements. A laser system was developed which consists of a copper vapor laser pumping three dye lasers simultaneously. Samples containing between 1010 and 1012 atoms of239Pu on Re filaments were measured yielding strong resonance signals with maximum ion count rates of several kHz at a vanishingly low background. A detection efficiency of 10–7 was determined allowing the detection of about 108 plutonium atoms in a sample.This work comprises part of the doctoral dissertation of W. Pulses shorter than 70 fs are generated with a synchronously-pumped cw dye laser using a dye medium composed of a mixture of rhodamine 6G and a fast recovery saturable absorber, DQOCI. We report the generation of blue 489-nm picosecond laser pulses by intracavity second-harmonic generation in a mode-locked optically pumped InGaAs vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser. Mode locking achieved by a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror generated 5.8-ps-long sech2-shaped pulses at an emission wavelength of 978 nm and a repetition rate of 1.88 GHz. Intracavity frequency doubling in a 5-mm-long lithium triborate crystal generated blue picosecond pulses with a spectral width of 0.15 nm and an average output power of up to 6 mW.  相似文献

We describe a compact, broadly tunable, continuous-wave (cw) Cr2+:ZnSe laser pumped by a thulium fiber laser at 1800 nm. In the experiments, a polycrystalline ZnSe sample with a chromium concentration of 9.5 × 1018 cm−3 was used. Free-running laser output was around 2500 nm. Output couplers with transmissions of 3%, 6%, and 15% were used to characterize the power performance of the laser. Best power performance was obtained with a 15% transmitting output coupler. In this case, as high as 640 mW of output power was obtained with 2.5 W of pump power at a wavelength of 2480 nm. The stimulated emission cross-section values determined from laser threshold data and emission measurements were in good agreement. Finally, broad, continuous tuning of the laser was demonstrated between 2240 and 2900 nm by using an intracavity Brewster cut MgF2 prism and a single set of optics.  相似文献

A simple method for generating single tunable subnanosecond dye laser pulses is described. A Rhodamin 6G dye laser is transversely pumped by a subnanosecond UV pulse of a TEA nitrogen laser. The narrowband output of the dye laser is amplified and shortened in a synchronously pumped amplifier. Narrowband pulses with a duration of 30–40 ps (fwhm) and a pulse power of 30 kW are obtained. They are tunable over the range of 580–600 nm.  相似文献

利用BBO晶体在400nm的抽运光与信号光夹角为37°时,可同时在可见光范围内很宽的光谱范围里实现相位匹配的特点,实现了在可见光范围内具有极宽输出光谱宽度的飞秒光学参量放大器(OPA)的稳定运转,其输出脉冲能量大于15μJ,转换效率超过15%.并且在仅采用啁啾镜作为脉冲压缩器的情况下,获得了输出脉冲宽度为135fs的极窄光脉冲,其脉冲宽度压缩比高达22倍 关键词: 非共线相位匹配 光学参量放大 啁啾镜  相似文献

A comparison of the performance of pulsed infrared HF lasers pumped by phototriggered discharges using either Ne/SF6/H2 or Ne/SF6/C2H6 mixtures are presented. For an active volume of 50 cm3, a specific output energy as high as 11 J/ has been achieved with an efficiency higher than 3% when C2H6 is used as H atom fuel. The replacement of ethane by molecular hydrogen reduces the laser performance by 40%. The investigation of the temporal evolution of the laser intensity shows that this dramatic decrease results from a shortening of the laser pulse duration rather than from a decrease of the peak power. Indications are given that this behavior is correlated to a very different temporal evolution of the discharge parameters, especially at low reduced electric field E/N.  相似文献

The design and operation characteristics of a distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) system pumped by the second harmonic of a flashlamp pumped mode-locked Nd: YAG laser are described. The DFDL oscillator facilitates a large tuning range with nearly Fourier limited pulse durations of about 1.6 ps. The combined action of saturated absorption and amplification results in a pulse shortening to about 600 fs, with small fluctuations in the pulse duration. Output pulse energies of more than 400 J are achieved, corresponding to a peak power of more than 650 MW. Since the dye amplifiers are pumped by pulses of only 25 ps duration the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) is very low, typically less than 10–4.  相似文献

Photon pairs highly entangled in polarization have been generated under femtosecond laser pulse excitation by a type-I crystal source operating in a single-arm interferometric scheme. The relevant effects of temporal walkoff existing in these conditions between the ordinary and extraordinary photons were experimentally investigated. By introducing a suitable temporal compensation between the two orthogonal polarization components, highly entangled pulsed states were obtained.  相似文献
