In a pristine monolayer graphene subjected to a constant electric field along the layer, the Bloch oscillation of an electron is studied in a simple and efficient way. By using the electronic dispersion relation, the formula of a semi-classical velocity is derived analytically, and then many aspects of Bloch oscillation, such as its frequency, amplitude, as well as the direction of the oscillation, are investigated. It is interesting to find that the electric field affects the component of motion, which is non-collinear with electric field, and leads the particle to be accelerated or oscillated in another component.  相似文献

采用传输矩阵法研究了电磁波在由单负特异材料组成的一维无序扰动周期结构中的Anderson局域(Anderson Localization)行为,分别讨论了色散和非色散两种模型.结果发现,在对应周期结构的通带位置,无序的引入对局域长度的影响较大,而在带隙位置,影响较小,几乎可以忽略.该性质与我们曾讨论的随机结构有较明显不同.导致这种局域性质的主要原因应为,光在单负材料组成的系统中的传输主要依赖于两种单负材料间的界面.在无序扰动结构中,该界面数相对于周期结构并没有减少,因此对光的传输性质影响较小,而随机结构中  相似文献

We theoretically study the beam dynamical behaviour in a modulated optical lattice with a quadratic potential in a photovoltaic photorefractive crystal.We find that two different Bloch oscillation patterns appear for the excitation of both broad and narrow light beams.One kind of optical Landau–Zener tunnelling also appears upon the Bloch oscillation and can be controlled by adjusting the parameter of the optical lattice.Unlike the case of linear potential,the energy radiation due to Landau–Zener tunnelling can be confined in modulated lattices of this kind.For high input intensity levels,the Landau–Zener tunnelling is suppressed by the photovoltaic photorefractive nonlinearity and a symmetry breaking of beam propagation from the modulational instability appears.  相似文献

We have directly determined the spectral shape of the complex conductivities of Bloch oscillating electrons by using time-domain terahertz (THz)-electrooptic sampling technique and presented an experimental evidence for a dispersive Bloch gain in superlattices. This unique dispersive gain without population inversion arises from a non-classical nature of Bloch oscillations; i.e., the phase of the Bloch oscillation is shifted by π/2 from that of the semi-classical charged harmonic oscillation when driven by the same AC field. By increasing the bias electric field, the gain bandwidth reached in our particular sample.  相似文献

A theoretical study of Bloch electron transport in a superlattice miniband driven by an electric field parallel to the growth axis is carried out, by Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) in momentum space with the averaged momentum relaxation time (γ) approximation. Steadystate drift-velocity/field characteristics exhibit the expected maximum followed by negative differential conductivity (NDC), and then followed by drift-velocity oscillation when γ or electric field is large. The oscillation frequency is an increasing function of γ, and when γ → ∞, the limit of the oscillation frequency is the Bloch frequency as expected.  相似文献

We present a new scheme for realizing Bloch oscillations and Wannier-Stark ladder based on a lattice of coupled LC circuits. By converting the second order dynamical ODEs of the system into a first order Schrödinger-like equation, we propose an equivalent tight binding Hamiltonian to describe the circuit. We show that a synthesized electric field is produced by introducing a frequency mismatch into the resonant frequency of the adjacent LC resonators. The Wannier-Stark modes are the normal modes of the circuit and the Bloch oscillations can be observed in a coupled LC lattice. By addition of coupling capacitors between nodes of the circuit, we study the Bloch oscillation in the presence of long-range couplings. We also show that the circuit converts to a transmission line simulating synthetic electric fields in the continuum limit. The coupled LC circuit is, in some sense, amongst the simplest physical systems exhibiting Bloch oscillation and Wannier-Stark Ladder.  相似文献

In this paper, we theoretically study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in one-dimensional double-period quasi-regular structures consisting of negative-permittivity and negative-permeability metamaterials. A Drude-type dispersive response for both permittivity and permeability of single-negative metamaterials is considered. From the numerical results performed by transfer matrix method and effective medium theory, it is found that double-period photonic crystals can exhibit an omnidirectional gap at given microwave frequency. Such an omnidirectional gap is insensitive to incident angle and polarization, and is invariant upon the change of scale length. It is also found that this gap exists in all double-period sequences, and it is independent of structure sequence. Moreover, electromagnetic field distributions in this structures show that the fields are localized at each interface of two media. These results can lead to further applications of quasi-regular structures.  相似文献

We have studied the propagation properties of electromagnetic waves in one-dimensional photonic crystal coupled microcavity structure composed of single-negative materials. Two Wannier-Stark ladders can be obtained by employing only one type of microcavity. The dynamics behavior of a Gaussian pulse transmitting through the structure is simulated theoretically. We demonstrated for the first time that even in this multilayered structure completely made of single-negative materials, the optical Bloch oscillations and Zener tunneling can also be attained.  相似文献

本文研究两个非线性电路系统通过开关组成的时间切换系统的复杂振荡行为及其产生机理.利用开环运算放大器放大倍数为极大值的特性,即运算放大器总是处于正的或负的饱和状态,当输入电压从负过零变正时,输出电压从正饱和状态跃变为负饱和状态,本文选择子电路系统中的非线性部分为跃变函数.首先对两个子系统进行了稳定性分析,给出了不同参数条件下的振荡行为,然后在子系统单个参数在一定范围内变化,而其他参数保持不变的情况下,研究了切换系统的复杂振荡特征,并分析了其产生机理.由于子系统方程的非光滑性和切换带来的整个系统的非光滑性,使得整个系统的周期振荡轨迹有四个切换点,随着参数的变化,周期振荡轨线与非光滑分界面发生擦边分岔,导致周期振荡分裂成两个对称的周期振荡.并且研究了切换点位置改变对整个系统周期振荡行为的影响以及切换点处的分岔机理.  相似文献

Minkowski domain walls are being actively considered in gravitation theory. They may form during a vacuum phase transition, or as a result of braneworld collision. Despite having interesting physical properties, Minkowski domain walls had remained in the theoretical domain only since their first introduction a few decades ago. Here we demonstrate how to make an electromagnetic analogue of a Minkowski domain wall using hyperbolic metamaterials. We analyze electromagnetic field behavior at the wall, and present a simple experimental model of “Minkowski domain wall” formation due to “collision” of two Minkowski spaces.  相似文献

由于光波、声波、地震波和水波都遵循波动方程,所以,2006年光学隐身衣(optical cloak)原理在Science 杂志上发表后,光学隐身衣的设想很快就从最初的光波推广到了声波、地震波和水波,至今方兴未艾。由于热传导满足的是扩散方程,并且波动方程与扩散方程在物理机制上迥异,这就使得把光学隐身衣推广到热学隐身衣的尝试不得不面临来自原理上的挑战,可能也正因为如此,国际上对热超构材料的研究非常缓慢:早在2008年,就有学者在光学隐身衣的启发下,通过有限元模拟,揭示了热学隐身衣和热流反转等反常热功能或热现象,从而提出热超构材料(thermal metamaterial)的概念,但是,直到2012年,这个概念才被实验验证。由于其中蕴含着巨大的潜在应用价值,该实验工作发表后,热超构材料开始得到国际同行的广泛关注。文章的主要目的就是向读者介绍这一类新型功能材料——热超构材料的物理原理、发展历程及其理论和实验研究进展。  相似文献

研究了完全各向异性超常材料中的倒退波传播现象,得到了在材料本征轴和传输轴成任意角度情形下倒退波形成的条件,分析了超常材料的介电张量和磁导率张量、电磁波的偏振方式对倒退波形成和传播的影响. 在此基础上,进一步分析了几种不同色散曲线关系的各向异性超常材料中倒退波的产生情况,获得了电磁波波矢和坡印亭矢量(能流)夹角的具体表达式和倒退波传播的一般性结论. 此外,还研究了近零介电常数超常材料中倒退波的传播特性,发现在此类超常材料中倒退波只能是完美倒退波. 关键词: 超常材料 负折射 倒退波 各向异性  相似文献

We study transmission properties in configurations composed of two single metal gratings with different thicknesses. Choosing the perfect electric conductor excludes the influence of intrinsic material dispersion on transmission behaviors; and as such, we aim to reveal the contribution of geometric dispersion to electromagnetic transmission. Transmission suppression line, instead of a transmission suppression point, is discovered, denoting the curve of the wavelength versus the interval or the lateral displacement between the two single gratings when the transmission suppression appears. A simplified model is proposed to comprehend the underlying physics of this special phenomenon.  相似文献

We studied the optical Bloch oscillation and resonant Zener tunneling in macroscopic quasi-period structures of alternatively stratified single negative and dielectric slabs. By a decrease in the thicknesses of the dielectric slabs, the electronic potential of crystals subjected to external dc electric fields is mimicked and the optical Wannier-Stark ladder (WSL) is realized. Both scattering states and the time-resolved transmission of a short pulse are provided to show the existence of the optical analogue of electronic Bloch oscillation. At a critical gradient, the resonant photon Zener tunneling is demonstrated both from the amplitude and the time delay in the transmitted signal of a short pulse.  相似文献

In this paper, an ultra-compact single negative(SNG) electric waveguided metamaterial(WG-MTM) is first investigated and used to reduce the mutual coupling in E H planes of a dual-band microstrip antenna array. The proposed SNG electric WG-MTM unit cell is designed by etching two different symmetrical spiral lines on the ground, and has two stopbands operating at 1.86 GHz and 2.40 GHz. The circuit size is very compact, which is only λ_0/33.6 ×λ_0/15.1(where λ_0 is the wavelength at 1.86 GHz in free space). Taking advantage of the dual-stopband property of the proposed SNG electric WG-MTM, a dual-band microstrip antenna array operating at 1.86 GHz and 2.40 GHz with very low mutual coupling is designed by embedding a cross shaped array of the proposed SNG electric WG-MTM. The measured and simulated results of the designed dual-band antenna array are in good agreement with each other, indicating that the mutual coupling of the fabricated dual-band antenna array realizes 9.8/11.1 d B reductions in the H plane, 8.5/7.9 d B reductions in the E plane at1.86 GHz and 2.40 GHz, respectively. Besides, the distance of the antenna elements in the array is only 0.35 λ_0(where λ_0 is the wavelength at 1.86 GHz in free space). The proposed strategy is used for the first time to reduce the mutual coupling in E H planes of the dual-band microstrip antenna array by using ultra-compact SNG electric WG-MTM.  相似文献

利用一种扩展的双曲函数级数方法求解超常介质中的传输方程,得到了各种不同情形下的暗孤子解,分析了可控自陡效应和二阶非线性色散效应对孤子形成和传输特性的影响.结果表明,超常介质中负的自陡效应使得暗孤子的中心位置随传输距离向脉冲前沿方向漂移,与常规介质中自陡效应(恒为正)的作用相反;特别是,由于二阶非线性色散的作用,使得在没有线性群速度色散的情形下同样可形成孤子,而且在反常线性色散情形也可形成暗孤子.  相似文献

Here we study the construction of symmetric informationally complete positive-operator-valued measures (SIC-POVMs) in the Bloch space. In this space an SIC-POVM corresponds to a regular simplex, that is a set of real equiangular, unitary vectors. Since the Bloch space also contains vectors which do not describe quantum states, it is necessary to add an extra condition to enforce the members of the simplex to describe pure quantum states. We show that in the case of a three-dimensional quantum systems it is possible to find such a simplex in an analytical way. The solution turns out to be unitarily equivalent to a Weyl-Heisenberg covariant SIC-POVM.  相似文献

This paper demonstrates rigorous chaotic dynamics in nonlinear Bloch system by virtue of topological horseshoe and numerical method. It considers a properly chosen cross section and the corresponding Poincar'e map, and shows the existence of horseshoe in the Poincar'e map. Recently, polarons in the Peyrard-Bishop-Holstein model under DC electric fields were established to perform Bloch oscillations, provided the charge-lattice coupling is not large. In this work, we study this model when the charge is subjected to an applied field with both DC and AC components. Similarly to what happens in the rigid lattice, we find that the carrier undergoes a directed motion or coherent oscillations when the AC field is resonant or detuned with respect to the Bloch frequency, respectively. The electric density current and its Fourier spectrum are also studied to reveal the frequencies involved in the polaron dynamics.  相似文献

Wave propagation is studied in structures consisting of alternate left- and right-handed layers.Bragg gap and zero-n gap appear in different frequency regions of the structure.The periodicity of the structure is broken by simply reversing the order of the layers in one half of the structure,resulting in defect modes located inside the zero-n gap and Bragg gap.These modes can be made very narrow by adding more layers in the structure.The defect mode located inside the zero-n gap is sensitive to the symmetry of the structure and insensitive to the angle of incidence of the incoming radiation.Multiple modes are also generated inside the gaps by repeating the structural pattern.Thus,a simple structure can be used for single and multiple modes that are important for different applications.  相似文献
