We apply the well know Omori?CYau generalized maximum principle (Omori in J Math Soc Jpn 19:205?C214, 1967; Yau in Commun Pure Appl Math 28:201?C228, 1975), as well as a suitable extension of it that was established in a joint work with Caminha (Caminha and de Lima in Gen Relat Grav 41:173?C189, 2009), in order to investigate Bernstein-type properties of complete spacelike hypersurfaces immersed in a generalized Robertson?CWalker spacetime, which is supposed to obey a standard convergence condition. 相似文献

We show that there is a correspondence between totally umbilic null hypersurfaces in generalized Robertson–Walker spaces and twisted decompositions of the fibre. This allows us to prove that nullcones are the unique totally umbilic null hypersurfaces in the closed Friedmann Cosmological model. We also apply this kind of ideas to static spaces, in particular to Reissner–Nordström and Schwarzschild exterior spacetimes. 相似文献

In this paper, we study the relativistic Boltzmann equation in the spatially flat Robertson–Walker spacetime. For a certain class of scattering kernels, global existence of classical solutions is proved. We use the standard method of Illner and Shinbrot for the global existence and apply the splitting technique of Guo and Strain for the regularity of solutions. The main interest of this paper is to study the evolution of matter distribution, rather than the evolution of spacetime. We obtain the asymptotic behaviour of solutions and will understand how the expansion of the universe affects the evolution of matter distribution. 相似文献

hyperplanes. In the same way, we prove that the only complete spacelike hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature in L

+1 which are bounded between two concentric hyperbolic spaces are the hyperbolic spaces. Finally, we obtain some a priori estimates
for the higher order mean curvatures, the scalar curvature and the Ricci curvature of a complete spacelike hypersurface in
L
n
+1 which is bounded by a hyperbolic space. Our results will be an application of a maximum principle due to Omori and Yau, and
of a generalization of it.

We study the existence of spacelike graphs for the prescribed mean curvature equation in the Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) spacetime. By using a conformal change of variable, this problem is translated into an equivalent problem in the Lorentz–Minkowski spacetime. Then, by using Rabinowitz's global bifurcation method, we obtain the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for this equation with 0-Dirichlet boundary condition on a ball. In this note, we establish analytically the convergence of a nonlinear finite-difference discretization of the generalized Burgers–Fisher equation. The existence and uniqueness of positive, bounded and monotone solutions for this scheme was recently established in [J. Diff. Eq. Appl. 19 (2014), pp. 1907–1920]. In the present work, we prove additionally that the method is convergent of order one in time, and of order two in space. Some numerical experiments are conducted in order to assess the validity of the analytical results. We conclude that the methodology under investigation is a fast, nonlinear, explicit, stable, convergent numerical technique that preserves the positivity, the boundedness and the monotonicity of approximations, making it an ideal tool in the study of some travelling-wave solutions of the mathematical model of interest. This note closes proposing new avenues of future research. 相似文献

In this paper Fermi–Walker derivative and Fermi–Walker parallelism and non-rotating frame concepts are given along the curve lying on the spacelike surface and the timelike surface in Minkowski 3-space. On any spacelike hypersurface of constant mean curvature of a Generalized Robertson–Walker spacetime, the hyperbolic angle between the future-pointing unit normal vector field and the universal time axis is considered. It is assumed that has a local maximum. A physical consequence of this fact is that relative speeds between normal and comoving observers do not approach the speed of light near the maximum point. By using a development inspired from Bochner's well-known technique, a uniqueness result for spacelike hypersurfaces of constant mean curvature under this assumption on , and also assuming certain matter energy conditions hold just at this point, is proved. 相似文献

In this note, we establish the property of convergence for a finite-difference discretization of a diffusive partial differential equation with generalized Burgers convective law and generalized Hodgkin–Huxley reaction. The numerical method was previously investigated in the literature and, amongst other features of interest, it is a fast and nonlinear technique that is capable of preserving positivity, boundedness and monotonicity. In the present work, we establish that the method is convergent with linear order of convergence in time and quadratic order in space. In this note we show that for certain choice of parameters the hyperbolic–elliptic–elliptic generalized Davey–Stewartson system admits time-dependent travelling wave solutions of the kind given in [V.A. Arkadiev, A.K. Pogrebkov, M.C. Polivanov, Inverse scattering transform method and soliton solutions for Davey–Stewartson II equation, Physica D 36 (1989) 189–197] for the hyperbolic Davey–Stewartson system. These solutions lead to radial solutions as well. We also find the sufficient conditions for non-existence of travelling wave solutions for the hyperbolic–elliptic–elliptic generalized Davey–Stewartson system by using the point of view developed in [A. Eden, T.B. Gürel, E. Kuz, Focusing and defocusing cases of the purely elliptic generalized Davey–Stewartson system, IMA J. Appl. Math. (in press)]. 相似文献
