A space-timeM is said to be conformally hyperbolic if the intrinsic conformal Lorentz pseudodistanced M is a true distance. In this paper we first derive criteria which insure the conformal hyperbolicity of certain space-times which are generalizations of the Robertson-Walker spaces. Thend M is determined explicitly for Einstein-de Sitter space, and important cosmological model.Author partially supported by NSF Grant No. MCS 80-03573.  相似文献

The validity conditions for the extended Birkhoff theorem in multidimensional gravity withn internal spaces are formulated, with no restriction on space-time dimensionality and signature. Examples of matter sources and geometries for which the theorem is valid are given. Further generalization of the theorem is discussed.  相似文献

The null cut locus of a spacelike submanifold of codimension 2 in a space-time is defined. In globally hyperbolic space-times, it is shown that the future (past) null cut locusc n + (H) [c n - (H)] of a compact, acausal, spacelike submanifoldH of codimension 2 is a closed subset of the space-time, and each pointx c n + (H) is either a focal point ofH along some future-directed null geodesic meetingH orthogonally or there exist at least two null geodesics fromH tox, realizing the distance betweenH andx or both. Also, it can be shown that the assumptions of the Penrose's singularity theorem for open globally hyperbolic space-times may be weakened to the space-times which are conformal to an open subset of an open globally hyperbolic space-time.This study is based on Chapter 3 of the author's Ph.D. thesis.  相似文献

On the basis of the results of Paper I and guided by a Machian view of nature, we find new gravitational equations which are background dependent. Such equations describe a purely geometrical theory of gravitation, and their dependence on the background structure is through the total energy-momentum tensor on the past sheet of the light cone of each space-time pointxμν x, say], i.e., through the integral on the past sheet of the light cone ofx of the parallel transport of the energy-momentum tensor from the space-time point in which it is defined tox along the geodesic connecting the two space-time points. Following Gürsey, we assume that the source of the De Sitter metric is not the cosmological term, but, rather, the energy-momentum tensor of a “uniform distribution of mass scintillations” [T μν x, say].T μν x, indeed, turns out to be equal to the metric tensor times a constant factor. As a consequence, in any local inhomogeneity A of a space-time whose background structure is determined by the Perfect Cosmological Principle,θ μν turns out to be approximately equal to the metric tensor times a constant factor, providedT=g αβ T αβ is sufficiently small and the structure of the past sheet of the light cones of the space-time points belonging to Λ is not too much perturbed by the local gravitational field. As a consequence, in Λ the new equations approximately reduce to Einstein's equations. If one considers a “superuniverse model” in which our universe is considered as a local inhomogeneity in a De Sitter background, then from the above result there follows a fortiori the agreement of the new gravitational equations with the classical tests of gravitation. Furthermore, the dependence on the background structure is such that the new equations (i) incorporate the idea that the frame has to be fixeddirectly in connection with cosmological observations, and (ii) are singular in the absence of matter in the whole space-time. Moreover, (iii) the coupling constant turns out to be dimensionless in natural units (c=1=?), and (iv) a local inertial frame in a De Sitter background is determined by the condition that with respect to it the background structure is homogeneous in space and in time and is Lorentz invariant.  相似文献

We study the classical and quantum cosmology of a 4 + 1-dimensional space-time with a non-zero cosmological constant coupled to a self-interacting massive spinor field. We consider a spatially flat Robertson-Walker universe with the usual scale factor R (t) and an internal scale factor a (t) associated with the extra dimension. For a free spinor field the resulting equations admit exact solutions, whereas for a self-interacting spinor field one should resort to a numerical method for exhibiting their behavior. These solutions give rise to a degenerate metric and exhibit signature transition from a Euclidean to a Lorentzian domain. Such transitions suggest a compactification mechanism for the internal and external scale factors such that a ∼ R−1 in the Lorentzian region. The corresponding quantum cosmology and the ensuing Wheeler-DeWitt equation have exact solutions in the mini-superspace when the spinor field is free, leading to wavepackets undergoing signature change. The question of stabilization of the extra dimension is also discussed.  相似文献

Einstein equations are derived for D-dimensional space-time that spontaneously compactify to the product M4 × Πi = 1α Mdi in which the metric is taken to be of the generalized Robertson-Walker form. Cosmological solutions for these equations are studied with power law, oscillatory and exponential behaviour for the D-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell, N = 2, D = 10 and N = 1, D = 11 supergravity models. In the Einstein-Maxwell case the presence of a cosmological constant forces the extra dimensions to be static. Nevertheless, it is possible to find solutions with vanishing effective 4 dimensional cosmological constant with an expanding 4-dimensional space-time. In the supergravity models the requirement of having compact extra dimensions restricts the solutions to have expansion only in the 4-dimensional space-time. Matter contribution is added to the energy-momentum tensor in an attempt to find new solutions.  相似文献

We investigate particle detector responses in some topologically non-trivial spacetimes. We extend a recently proposed regularization of the massless scalar field Wightman function in four-dimensional Minkowski space to arbitrary dimension, to the massive scalar field, to quotients of Minkowski space under discrete isometry groups and to the massless Dirac field. We investigate in detail the transition rate of inertial and uniformly accelerated detectors on the quotient spaces under groups generated by (txyz) ? (txyz + 2a), (txyz) ? (t, −xyz), (txyz) ? (t, −x, −yz), (txyz) ? (t, −x, −yz + a) and some higher dimensional generalizations. For motions in at constant y and z on the latter three spaces the response is time dependent. We also discuss the response of static detectors on the RP3 geon and inertial detectors on RP3 de Sitter space via their associated global embedding Minkowski spaces (GEMS). The response on RP3 de Sitter space, found both directly and in its GEMS, provides support for the validity of applying the GEMS procedure to detector responses and to quotient spaces such as RP3 de Sitter space and the RP3 geon where the embedding spaces are Minkowski spaces with suitable identifications.  相似文献

The spectral properties of the Schr?dinger operator T(t)=−d 2/dx 2+q(x,t) in L 2(ℝ) are studied, where the potential q is defined by q=p(x+t), x>0, and q=p(x), x<0; p is a 1-periodic potential and t∈ℝ is the dislocation parameter. For each t the absolutely continuous spectrum σ ac (T(t))=σ ac (T(0)) consists of intervals, which are separated by the gaps γ n (T(t))=γ n (T(0))=(α n n +), n≥1. We prove: in each gap γ n ≠?, n≥ 1 there exist two unique “states” (an eigenvalue and a resonance) λ n ±(t) of the dislocation operator, such that λ n ±(0)=α n ± and the point λ n ±(t) runs clockwise around the gap γ n changing the energy sheet whenever it hits α n ±, making n/2 complete revolutions in unit time. On the first sheet λ n ±(t) is an eigenvalue and on the second sheet λ n ±(t) is a resonance. In general, these motions are not monotonic. There exists a unique state λ0(t) in the basic gap γ0(T(t))=γ0(T(0))=(−∞ ,α0 +). The asymptotics of λ n ±(t) as n→∞ is determined. Received: 5 April 1999 / Accepted: 3 March 2000  相似文献

A novel (t,n)-threshold scheme for the multi-party quantum group signature is proposed based on the irregular quantum Fourier transform, in which every t-qubit quantum message needs n participants to generate the quantum group signature. All the quantum operation gates in the quantum circuit can be distributed and arranged randomly in the irregular QFT algorithm, which can increase the von Neumann entropy of the signed quantum message and the randomicity of the quantum signature generation significantly. The generation and verification of the quantum group signature can be both performed in quantum circuits with the parallel algorithm. Security analysis shows that an available and legal quantum (t,n)-threshold group signature can be achieved.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of semilinear abstract differential equations (*) u′(t) = Au(t) + t n f(t, u(t)), where A is the generator of a C 0-semigroup (or group) T(·), f(·, x) ∈ A for each xX, A is the class of almost periodic, almost automorphic or Levitan almost periodic Banach space valued functions ϕ: ℝ → X and n ∈ {0, 1, 2, ...}. We investigate the linear case when T(·)x is almost periodic for each xX; and the semilinear case when T(·) is an asymptotically stable C 0-semigroup, n = 0 and f(·, x) satisfies a Lipschitz condition. Also, in the linear case, we investigate (*) when ϕ belongs to a Stepanov class S p-A defined similarly to the case of S p-almost periodic functions. Under certain conditions, we show that the solutions of (*) belong to A u:= ABUC(ℝ, X) if n = 0 and to t n A uw n C 0 (ℝ, X) if n ∈ ℕ, where w n(t) = (1 + |t|)n. The results are new for the case n ∈ ℕ and extend many recent ones in the case n = 0. Dedicated to the memory of B. M. Levitan  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior solutions of stochastic differential equations dy t =dω t −∇Γ(y t ) dt, y 0=0 and d=2. Γ is a 2 &\times; 2 skew-symmetric matrix associated to a shear flow characterized by an infinite number of spatial scales Γ12=−Γ21=h(x 1), with h(x 1)=∑ n =0 γ n h n (x 1/R n ), where h n are smooth functions of period 1, h n (0)=0, γ n and R n grow exponentially fast with n. We can show that y t has an anomalous fast behavior (?[|y t |2]∼t 1+ν with ν > 0) and obtain quantitative estimates on the anomaly using and developing the tools of homogenization. We propose and theoretically study an experiment designed to measure short-time polymer reaction kinetics in melts or dilute solutions. The photolysis of groups centrally located along chain backbones, one group per chain, creates pairs of spatially highly correlated macroradicals. We calculate time-dependent rate coefficients κ(t) governing their first-order recombination kinetics, which are novel on account of the far-from-equilibrium initial conditions. In dilute solutions (good solvents) reaction kinetics are intrinsically weak, despite the highly reactive radical groups involved. This leads to a generalised mean-field kinetics in which the rate of radical density decay - ∼S(t), where S(t) ∼t - (1 + g/3) is the equilibrium return probability for 2 reactive groups, given initial contact. Here g≈ 0.27 is the correlation hole exponent for self-avoiding chain ends. For times beyond the longest coil relaxation time τ, - ∼S(t) remains true, but center of gravity coil diffusion takes over with rms displacement of reactive groups x(t) ∼t 1/2 and S(t) ∼ 1/x 3(t). At the shortest times ( t 10-6s), recombination is inhibited due to spin selection rules and we find ∼tS(t). In melts, kinetics are intrinsically diffusion-controlled, leading to entirely different rate laws. During the regime limited by spin selection rules, the density of radicals decays linearly, n(0) - n(t) ∼t. At longer times the standard result - ∼d 3(t)/d (for randomly distributed ends) is replaced by ∼d2x 3(t)/d 2 for these correlated initial conditions. The long-time behavior, t > τ, has the same scaling form in time as for dilute solutions. Received 18 May 2000  相似文献

Space-times with plane symmetry are considered which also admit a conformal group such that the metric depends on the variablez=x 1/x 0 (homothetic or self-similar solutions). Different regions depending on the space-time character ofz can be discerned in each solution: thet region whenz is timelike and thes-region whenz is spacelike. Exact solutions of the Einstein equations are given for an energy-momentum tensor corresponding to an ideal fluid with equation of statep=(-1)e. Different types of solutions occur depending upon the value of in the equation of state, and these are studied using phase-plane methods. The solutions of considered type in the Minkowski space-time are also given.  相似文献

The method suggested earlier is applied to the problem of pair production in the Robertson-Walker universes with scale factorst , 1. The method is based on the postulate that the positive-frequency wave functions must be propagated forward in time by the causal propagator. The causal propagator is defined as the Green's function with minimal divergences on the Euclidean section of the space-time. The results for the casea(t)=t coincide with those of Chitre and Hartle. In the casea(t)=t t , <1, it is shown that the present approach predicts creation of conformal invariant massless scalar particles. It is demonstrated that the conformal transformation method gives the same predictions provided that the global properties of the space-time are taken into consideration.  相似文献

To explore in its full richness the topological possibilities of gauge fields one should allow for simultaneous presence of gravitational and Yang-Mills ones. Thus if the integral topological indices of the Yang-Mills field for a flat Euclidean base space is associated with the structure of the vacuum, one may ask among other questions of interest, how this spectrum might be modified when the base space itself has non trivial indices. Exact solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills fields are presented for metrics corresponding to well-known gravitational instantons. Such selfdual solutions, with vanishing energy monien-tunl tensor Tμv for Euclidean signature of the base space, do not perturb the metric. Thus they provide solutions of the combined gravitational-Y.M. system. New topological possibilities, such as finite action SU(2) fields with fractional indices for many centre inetrics are displayed explicitly. As another type of possibility non selfdual, finite action solutions are constructed explicitly on Schwarzschild and de Sitter metrics, the solution being real in the first and complex in second case respectively. It is also shown how various meron type solutions in flat space can be derived systematically from a very simple static solution in de Sitter.  相似文献

The finite-temperature 4 theory of static Robertson-Walker (RW) space-time is extended to a case with background charge. In contrast to earlier work on static RW space-time, the curvature term is retained and its effect on the effective potential and phase transition are explicitly calculated. The spontaneous symmetry breaking aspects and its dependence on various factors are discussed.  相似文献
