We consider dynamic systems which evolve on discrete time domains where the time steps form a sequence of independent, identically distributed random variables. In particular, we classify the mean-square stability of linear systems on these time domains using quadratic Lyapunov functionals. In the case where the system matrix is a function of the time step, our results agree with and generalize stability results found in the Markov jump linear systems literature. In the case where the system matrix is constant, our results generalize, illuminate, and extend to the stochastic realm results in the field of dynamic equations on time scales. In order to help see the factors that contribute to stability, we prove a sufficient condition for the solvability of the Lyapunov equation by appealing to a fixed point theorem of Ran and Reurings. Finally, an example using observer-based feedback control is presented to demonstrate the utility of the results to control engineers who cannot guarantee uniform timing of the system.  相似文献

The paper addresses a problem of partial fracture of a latticeby a propagating fault modelling a crack bridged by elasticfibres. It is assumed that the strength of bonds within thelattice alternates periodically, so that during the dynamiccrack propagation only weaker bonds break, whereas the strongerbonds remain intact. The mathematical problem is reduced tothe functional equation of the Wiener–Hopf type, whichis solved analytically. The load–crack speed dependenceis presented, which also has implications on the stability analysisfor the bridged crack propagating within the lattice. In particular,we address the evaluation of the dissipation rate, which isfound to be strongly dependent on the crack speed. In this latticemodel, our results also cover the case of the supercriticalcrack speed.  相似文献

We clarify the integrability nature of a recently found discrete equation on the square lattice with a nonstandard symmetry structure. We find its L-A pair and show that it is also nonstandard. For this discrete equation, we construct the hierarchies of both generalized symmetries and conservation laws. This equation yields two integrable systems of hyperbolic type. The hierarchies of generalized symmetries and conservation laws are also nonstandard compared with known equations in this class.  相似文献

We propose a method for obtaining a monotonically decreasing sequence of upper bounds of the percolation threshold of a Bernoulli random field on ℤ2. On the basis of this sequence, we develop a method for the construction of approximations with guaranteed exactness estimate for the percolation probability. Schmutz Schaller's conjecture regarding the lengths of the hexagonal versus the lengths of the square lattice is shown to be true. The proof makes use of results from (computational) prime number theory.

Using an identity due to Selberg, it is shown that, in principle, the conjecture can be resolved without using computational prime number theory. By our approach, however, this would require a huge amount of computation.

We showed in [Oh] that for a simple real Lie groupG with real rank at least 2, if a discrete subgroup Γ ofG contains lattices in two opposite horospherical subgroups, then Γ must be a non-uniform arithmetic lattice inG, under some additional assumptions on the horospherical subgroups. In a way similar to the continuous case formally, we define in different but equivalent manners the difference discrete connection and curvature on discrete vector bundle over the regular lattice as base space. We deal with the difference operators as the discrete counterparts of the derivatives based upon the differential calculus on the lattice. One of the definitions can be extended to the case over the random lattice. We also discuss the relation between our approach and the lattice gauge theory and apply to the discrete integrable systems.
