If are maximal nests on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space H, the dimension of the intersection of the corresponding nest algebras is at least dim H. On the other hand, there are three maximal nests whose nest algebras intersect in the scalar operators. The dimension of the intersection of two nest algebras (corresponding to maximal nests) can be of any integer value from n to n(n+1)/2, where n=dim H. For any two maximal nests there exists a basis {f1,f2,…,fn} of H and a permutation π such that and where Mi=  span{f1,f2,…,fi} and Ni= span{fπ(1),fπ(2),…,fπ(i)}. The intersection of the corresponding nest algebras has minimum dimension, namely dim H, precisely when π(j)=nj+1,1jn. Those algebras which are upper-triangular matrix incidence algebras, relative to some basis, can be characterised as intersections of certain nest algebras.  相似文献

We construct the polynomial pm,n* of degree m which interpolates a given real-valued function f L2[a, b] at pre-assigned n distinct nodes and is the best approximant to f in the L2-sense over all polynomials of degree m with the same interpolatory character. There is a so called generalized tic-tac-toe game playing on a finite set X with winning sets A1, A2,…, Am. Two players, F and S, take in turn a previous untaken vertex of X, with F going first. The one who takes all the vertices of some winning set first wins the game. Erd s and Selfridge proved that if |A1|=|A2|==|Am|=n and m<2n−1, then the game is a draw. This result is best possible in the sense that once m=2n−1, then there is a family A1, A2,…, Am so that F can win. In this paper we characterize all those sets A1,…, A2n−1 so that F can win in exactly n moves. We also get similar result in the biased games.  相似文献

We consider the following model Hr(n, p) of random r-uniform hypergraphs. The vertex set consists of two disjoint subsets V of size | V | = n and U of size | U | = (r − 1)n. Each r-subset of V × (r−1U) is chosen to be an edge of H ε Hr(n, p) with probability p = p(n), all choices being independent. It is shown that for every 0 < < 1 if P = (C ln n)/nr−1 with C = C() sufficiently large, then almost surely every subset V1 V of size | V1 | = (1 − )n is matchable, that is, there exists a matching M in H such that every vertex of V1 is contained in some edge of M.  相似文献

Let πi :EiM, i=1,2, be oriented, smooth vector bundles of rank k over a closed, oriented n-manifold with zero sections si :MEi. Suppose that U is an open neighborhood of s1(M) in E1 and F :UE2 a smooth embedding so that π2Fs1 :MM is homotopic to a diffeomorphism f. We show that if k>[(n+1)/2]+1 then E1 and the induced bundle f*E2 are isomorphic as oriented bundles provided that f have degree +1; the same conclusion holds if f has degree −1 except in the case where k is even and one of the bundles does not have a nowhere-zero cross-section. For n≡0(4) and [(n+1)/2]+1<kn we give examples of nonisomorphic oriented bundles E1 and E2 of rank k over a homotopy n-sphere with total spaces diffeomorphic with orientation preserved, but such that E1 and f*E2 are not isomorphic oriented bundles. We obtain similar results and counterexamples in the more difficult limiting case where k=[(n+1)/2]+1 and M is a homotopy n-sphere.  相似文献

A construction is given for a (p2a(p+1),p2,p2a+1(p+1),p2a+1,p2a(p+1)) (p a prime) divisible difference set in the group H×Z2pa+1 where H is any abelian group of order p+1. This can be used to generate a symmetric semi-regular divisible design; this is a new set of parameters for λ1≠0, and those are fairly rare. We also give a construction for a (pa−1+pa−2+…+p+2,pa+2, pa(pa+pa−1+…+p+1), pa(pa−1+…+p+1), pa−1(pa+…+p2+2)) divisible difference set in the group H×Zp2×Zap. This is another new set of parameters, and it corresponds to a symmetric regular divisible design. For p=2, these parameters have λ12, and this corresponds to the parameters for the ordinary Menon difference sets.  相似文献

A C0 finite element method is presented for an inverse problem in which the coefficient in the differential operator is to be determined from the measurement of the solution of a boundary value problem. The unknown in the inverse problem is approximated by a minimizer of a cost function that includes both the output error and equation error. Error estimates in a weighted H−1 norm and L2 are given. Numerical examples are presented to show features of the method.  相似文献

The equations of motion of the interphase boundary are considered. It is shown that the conditions at the surface separating the phases obtained in /1, 2/ by different methods, are identical. The study of the dynamics of the fluid-fluid interface was initiated by Bussinesq /3/ who postulated a linear relationship between the surface stress tensor Tβ and the strain rate tensor Sβ, assigning two viscosity coefficients to the surface, the dilatation coefficient k (the analog of volume viscosity) and the two-dimensional shear viscosity . This cycle of papers is based on the concept of generalized Bolean functions introduced by the author in the first article of the series. Every generalized Boolean function f:BnB can be written in a manner similar to the canonical disjunctive form using some function defined on A×B, where A is a finite subset of B containing 0 and 1. The set of those functions f is denoted by GBFn[A]. In this paper the following questions are presented: (1) What is the relationship between GBFn[A1] and GBFn[A2] when A1A2. Propositions about the nonexistence of complex zeros of the functions Hμ(z)=Jμ(z)+zJμ(z),Jμ(z),Jμ(z), where Jμ(z) and Jμ(z) are the first two derivatives of the Bessel functions Jμ(z), for μ in general complex are proved. Bounds for the purely imaginary zeros of the above functions assuming their existence are given. Thus for the range of values for which these bounds are violated there are no purely imaginary zeros of the above functions. Finally, some known results from previous work are generalized in the present paper.  相似文献

Let H be a Hopf algebra over a field k and let H AA, h ah.a, be an action of H on a commutative local Noetherian kalgebra (A, m). We say that this action is linearizable if there exists a minimal system x1, …, xn of generators of the maximal ideal m such that h.xi ε kx1 + …+ kxn for all h ε H and i = 1, …, n. In the paper we prove that the actions from a certain class are linearizable (see Theorem 4), and we indicate some consequences of this fact.  相似文献

This paper studies the discrete H−1-norm least-squares method for the incompressible Stokes equations based on the velocity–pressure–stress formulation by the least-squares functional defined as the sum of L2-norms and H−1-norm of the residual equations. Some computational experiments by multigrid method and preconditioning conjugate gradient method (PCGM) on this method are shown by taking efficient and β in the discrete solution operator Th=h2IBh corresponding to the minus one norm. We also propose a new method and compare it with PCGM and multigrid method through the analysis of numerical experiments depending on the choice of β.  相似文献

The Ramsey number r(H,Kn) is the smallest integer N so that each graph on N vertices that fails to contain H as a subgraph has independence number at least n. In this paper, let(M~n, g) be an n-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold with the mdimensional Bakry–mery Ricci curvature bounded below. By using the maximum principle, we first prove a Li–Yau type Harnack differential inequality for positive solutions to the parabolic equation u_t= LF(u)=ΔF(u)-f·F(u),on compact Riemannian manifolds Mn, where F∈C~2(0, ∞), F0 and f is a C~2-smooth function defined on M~n. As application, the Harnack differential inequalities for fast diffusion type equation and porous media type equation are derived. On the other hand, we derive a local Hamilton type gradient estimate for positive solutions of the degenerate parabolic equation on complete Riemannian manifolds. As application, related local Hamilton type gradient estimate and Harnack inequality for fast dfiffusion type equation are established. Our results generalize some known results.  相似文献

Let G be a graph of order n, and let a and b be integers such that 1a<b. Let δ(G) be the minimum degree of G. Then we prove that if δ(G)(k−1)a, n(a+b)(k(a+b)−2)/b, and |NG(x1)NG(x2)NG(xk)|an/(a+b) for any independent subset {x1,x2,…,xk} of V(G), where k2, then G has an [a,b]-factor. Let C be a planar region. Choose n points p1,,pnI.I.D. from the uniform distribution over C. Let MCn be the number of these points that are maximal. If C is convex it is known that either E(MCn)=Θ(√n)> or E(MCn)=O(log n). In this paper we will show that, for general C, there is very little that can be said, a-priori, about E(MCn). More specifically we will show that if g is a member of a large class of functions then there is always a region C such that E(MCn)=Θ(g(n)). This class contains, for example, all monotically increasing functions of the form g(n)= nlnβn, where 0<<1 and β0. This class also contains nondecreasing functions like g(n)=ln*n. The results in this paper remain valid in higher dimensions.  相似文献
