We present a compact diode- and end-pumped Nd:YAG laser for material processing with an output power of 238 W, an optical-to-optical efficiency of 48% and a slope efficiency of 60%. This is to the best of our knowledge the highest optical efficiency for a high-power end-pumped Nd:YAG laser. 相似文献

In this paper there are briefly summarized the results of our experimental measurements of the fluorescence spectra, originating in levels of the4 F 3/2 term and terminating on the first two terms of the4I multipet, and the results of the absorption spectra at room temperature (RT) and at liquid-nitrogen temperature (NT) from which Nd3+: Y3Al5O12 energy-level diagram was determined. The total structure factor S(Q) and the radial distribution function G(r) of liquid Y3Al5O12 (YAG) were measured at 1770-2230 K by x-ray scattering from samples under containerless conditions in Ar and O2. Nominal coordination numbers are 4 for Al3+ and 6 for Y3+ ions. The G(r) has peaks at r approximately 1.8 A for Al-O, r approximately 2. 25 A for Y-O, and r approximately 3.3-3.6 A assigned to metal ions in adjacent AlO5-4 and YO9-6 polyhedral ions. Relative to the pure oxides, G(r) for molten YAG has smaller half-widths for the Al-O and Y-O peaks, and an increased sensitivity to temperature and the ambient gas composition. 相似文献

We present pulsed laser operation in a Nd-doped, Y3Al5O12-based silica fiber. The fiber was fabricated using the rod-in-tube technique with a Nd:YAG crystal rod as the core material and a silica tube for the cladding material. A spectroscopy study revealed that the core region had become amorphous in the process of fiber drawing. Q-switched pulsed laser operation was realized at a wavelength of 1058 nm when the fiber was cladding pumped at a wavelength of 808 nm. The laser delivered 38 μJ of energy in 65 ns pulses. The extracted energy was limited due to the multimodal operation of the fiber. Laser slope efficiency in continuous wave operation reached 52%. The spectroscopic properties of the fabricated fiber are discussed and compared to a Nd:YAG crystal and a Nd:Al-doped silica fiber. 相似文献

The circularly polarized luminescence spectra of Y3Al5O12-Tb and Y3Al5O12-Ho garnets are analyzed in the wavelength ranges of the 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 transition in the Tb3+ ion and the 5 S 2 → 5 I 8 transition in the Ho3+ ion. It is found that the intensities of the orthogonal circularly polarized components of the series of luminescence lines attributed to the studied garnets differ substantially. The results obtained are interpreted in terms of the mixing of the Tb3+ and Ho3+ electronic states in an external magnetic field. 相似文献

We report the laser performance of a low-propagation-loss neodymium-doped Gd(3)Ga(5)O(12) (Nd:GGG) waveguide fabricated by pulsed-laser deposition. An 8- mum -thick crystalline Nd:GGG film grown upon an undoped Y(3)Al(5)O(12) substrate lases at 1.060 and 1.062 microm when pumped by a Ti:sapphire laser operating at 740 or 808nm.Using a 2.2% output coupler, we observed a 1060-nm laser threshold of 4mW and a slope efficiency of 20%. Laser action was also achieved, for what we believe is the first time in Nd:GGG, on the quasi-three-level 937-nm transition. With a 2% output coupler at this wavelength a laser threshold of 17mW and a 20% slope efficiency were obtained. This demonstration of low propagation loss combined with the fact that these waveguides have a very high numerical aperture (0.75) makes pulsed-laser-deposited thin films attractive for high-power diode-pumped devices. 相似文献

Single crystalline films of Lu3Al5O12:Bi and Y3Al5O12:Bi have been studied at 4.2–450 K by the time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy method. Their emission spectrum consists of two types of bands with strongly different characteristics. The ultraviolet band consists of two components, arising from the electronic transitions which correspond to the 3P1 → 1S0 and 3P0 → 1S0 transitions in a free Bi3+ ion. At T < 80 K, mainly the lower-energy component with the decay time ~10?3 s is observed, arising from the metastable 3P0 level. At T > 150 K, the higher-energy component prevails, arising from the thermally populated emitting 3P1 level. The visible emission spectrum consists of two dominant strongly overlapped broad bands with large Stokes shifts. At 4.2 K, their decay times are ~10?5 s and ~10?4 s and decrease with increasing temperature. Both of the visible emission bands are assumed to be of an exciton origin. The lower-energy band is ascribed to an exciton, localized near a single Bi3+ ion. The higher-energy band, showing a stronger intensity dependence on the Bi3+ content, is assumed to arise from an exciton, localized near a dimer Bi3+ center. The structure of the corresponding excited states is considered, and the processes, taking place in these states, are discussed. 相似文献

Our studies involve measuring spin-lattice relaxation times for Nd3+ ions in yttrium-aluminum garnets over the temperature range 4–50 K at 9.25 and 36.4 GHz for different orientations of the
external magnetic field in relation to the crystallographic axes. The temperature dependence of the relaxation rate is described
by T
1
−1
=AT
n+b exp(−Δ/kT), where n varies from sample to sample, with n=1 for “perfect” samples (i.e., with the longest relaxation times). Here Δ is approximately 130 cm−1, which is the energy of the excited Kramers doublet of the neodymium ion closest to the ground state, and this makes it possible
to interpret the second term in T
1
−1
as the contribution of two-stage relaxation proceeding through the intermediate level Δ. A strong field dependence of these
processes has been discovered: when the frequency was increased fourfold, the relaxation rate increased by a factor of 10.
The effect is a specific manifestation of the degeneracy of the excited level, breaking of the symmetry of the crystalline
field due to lattice defects, and the prevalence of deformations of a certain type in the spin-lattice interaction.

The content of Mo3+ ions in YAG:Nd garnet samples prepared by different technologies has been studied, and the spin-lattice relaxation rate of
these ions at temperatures of 4–5 K measured. It is concluded is drawn that Mo3+ ions can play the part of rapidly relaxing centers mediating the Nd3+ spin-lattice relaxation at liquid-helium temperatures. This may account for a number of features in the spin-lattice relaxation
of rare-earth ions in garnets, observed earlier at low temperatures.

We report the demonstration of a near-diffraction-limited, compact, diode-end-pumped double-clad planar waveguide Nd:YAG laser. Efficient laser operation was achieved for the three dominant Nd(3+) transitions, at 1.064, 0.946, and 1.32microm , with TE polarized output powers of 1.33, 0.57, and 0.33 W for the available output couplers. The output beam from the monolithic plane-plane laser cavity had measured M(2) values of 1.0 and 1.8 perpendicular and parallel, respectively, to the plane of the waveguide. 相似文献

We demonstrate a compact and efficient diode-end-pumped TEM>(00) laser with output power of 30 W for 48 W of incident pump power by use of two coated Nd:YVO> (4) crystals to form a thermally stabilized flat-flat cavity. We report what is to our knowledge the first laser operation of Nd(3+) -doped LiNbO(3) near 900 nm. An absorbed power threshold of 26 mW was obtained when the device was pumped at 814 nm. The design of the waveguide geometry to favor laser operation at this wavelength is demonstrated. 相似文献

采用提拉法生长Y3Al5O12(YAG)晶体和Yb3 掺杂原子数分数分别为5%,10%,15%,20%,25%,50%和100%的Yb:Y3Al5O12(Yb:YAG)晶体.系统表征和分析了Yb3 掺杂浓度对拉曼光谱的影响.随着Yb3 掺杂浓度的增加,晶体的振动模式没有明显的变化,晶体结构没有改变;在370 cm-1和785 cm-1附近,振动吸收峰的半峰全宽逐渐增大.分析得出,Yb3 掺杂浓度对晶体的晶格、对称性、荧光寿命均有影响,从而可能影响到晶体的光谱和激光性能. 相似文献

A diode-laser-array end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser, formed with a three-mirror folded resonator, has been demonstrated. With 15 W of pump power incident upon
the Nd:GdVO4 crystal, a maximum average green output power of 3.75 W was obtained at 50 kHz of pulse repetition frequency, giving an optical
conversion efficiency of 25%, whereas the effective intracavity frequency-doubling efficiency was determined to be 72%. At
the incident pump power of 12.8 W, the shortest laser pulse was achieved at a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz, the resulting
pulse width, single pulse energy, and peak power were measured to be 35 ns, 108 μJ, and 3.1 kW, respectively.

4 F3/2 excited state of the Nd3+ ion in Y3Al5O12, YAlO3, and Y2O3 were measured in a continuous wave pump- and probe experiment in a wide spectral range from 850 nm (780 nm for Y3Al5O12) to 1500 nm. The cross sections were determined from a comparison with the emission spectra and the simultaneously measured
ground state absorption bleaching. The strongest excited state absorption transitions were found in the 1220–1400 nm spectral
region due to transitions to the 2G9/2 and 4G7/2 levels. The spectral positions of the measured transitions are in good agreement with the theoretically expected transitions
calculated from the known Stark-level splittings.
