Genetic Transformation of Lycium barbarum L. via A. tumefaciens

A system for transformation and regeneration of Lycium barbarum L. , an important Chinese medical plant, has been established. Young stem segments from Lycium barbarum L. were infected with Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58cl(pGV3850: :ineo1130), and the transformed calli selected from the callus induction medium containing 50 fig/ml kanamycin could regenerate buds on differentiation medium containing 25 μg/ml kanamycin. 30% of the regenerated buds were normal in morphology. The normal buds could develop into whole plantlets after they were transferred to the rooting medium to induce roots. Nopa-line detection, NPT-Ⅱ enzyme activity assay and Southern blotting hybridization indicated that the foreign genes had been integrated into the genome of Lycium barbarum L. and expressed in the plant. Transformation of indole in soil

It was established that indole and 2-methylindole are converted in soil to stable compounds, which were isolated and identified by means of mass spectrometry (low-and high-resolution), IR, UV, and PMR spectroscopy, and by comparison with model samples. Under the influence of peroxide compounds in the soil, indole is converted to 2,2-di(3-indolyl)indoxyl and very small amounts of indoxylrot, indirubin, and indigo. A new oxidation process. Transformation of gem-bishydroperoxides into esters

A new oxidation process has been found where α,ω-dicarboxylic acid esters and ω-hydroxycarboxylic acid esters are formed on heating gem-bishydroperoxides in alcohol in the presence of BF₃·Et₂O. By addition of H₂O₂ to this reaction α,ω-dicarboxylic acid esters are formed almost selectively.

A sequence of simple arithmetic operations is described that generates distance matrixes from the adjacency matrixes of graphs.     

Transformation of N-chloro-N-methylbenzylamine in neutral medium

Conclusions A study was made of the transformation of N-chloro-N-methylbenzylamine in benzene medium at 80°. Transformation of batridene

Transformations of 1,1,6,6,7,7-hexahydroxy-3,3-dimethyl-5,5-diisopropyl-2,2-dinaphthylidene-8,8-dibarbituric acid (batridene) in DMSO are studied.
