The thermal expansion of the superconductor La3S4 has been investigated on a single crystal by a capacitive method between 1.6 and 14 K. The relative length change shows a well pronounced second order phase transformation near 8.05 K, which is caused by the superconducting transition. From the calculated linear thermal expansion coefficient we determine the pressure coefficient of the transition temperature and of the thermodynamic critical field as well as the thermodynamic critical field itself. Furthermore we estimate the electronic, phononic and total Grüneisen parameters. These parameters have been used to discuss on the basis of the McMillan equation the reason for the increase of the transition temperature under pressure.  相似文献

The magnetic field dependence of the structural transition temperature Tm from the cubic to the tetragonal phase has been determined for single crystals of La3S4 and La3Se4. The observed field dependence of Tm can be accounted for by the band Jahn-Teller model of the coupling of an eg-band to the shear mode of the cubic lattice without invoking any coupling to acoustic or optical phonons.  相似文献

采用溶胶凝胶法制备了系列La0.8-xCa0.2MnO3多晶样品,用X射线衍射分析确定了样品的钙钛矿结构,用透射电子显微镜观察了样品的形貌及粒径分布情况,用PAR155型振动样品磁强计测量了样品的磁性随外场和温度的变化,确定样品的居里温度并计算了各样品的磁熵变.磁测量及计算结果表明制备的各样品的居里温度在180—260K的范围内且随焙烧温度和La3+离子空位浓度的不同而变化,不同温度焙烧的样品均有较大的磁熵变值,其中1100℃焙烧的La0.77Ca0.2MnO3,多晶样品在240.5K,H=1.0T的外场下的磁熵变达3.76J/kg·K,对实验结果做了定性的分析.该材料具有较高的居里温度和较大的磁熵变,所需外场强度适中,电阻率高,性能稳定,适合做高温磁制冷材料. 关键词: 钙钛矿 居里温度 磁热效应  相似文献

La3S4 and La3Se4 undergo a cubic to tetragonal phase transformation at a temperature of 103 and 70 K respectively, the c/a ratio is 0.984 for La3S4 and 0.987 for La3Se4. In these compounds the conduction electron Fermi energy happens to be close to a band structure anomaly which drives the phase transition. We find some indication, that the anomaly might be of ?-type.  相似文献

The neutron scattering technique has been used to investigate the magnetic properties of the ternary Chevrel-phase superconductor HoMo6S8. Magnetic critical scattering is observed in the superconducting phase, with the magnetic correlation range increasing with decreasing temperature. At the transition in which the normal state is reentered, the system is found to develop long range ferromagnetic order, with a saturated magnetic moment at low temperatures of 9.06 ± .3 μB and the spin direction along the unique [111] trigonal axis.  相似文献

Critical behavior in the La0.6Sr0.4Mn0.8Fe0.1Cr0.1O3 ceramics was studied using magnetization methods. Results show that the paramagnetic–ferromagnetic transition is of second order. Based on the critical behavior analysis using the Banerjee criterion and the Kouvel–Fisher method, we find the critical exponents: β=0.395±0.010, γ=1.402±0.010, and δ=5.208±0.007, for which the magnetic interaction is satisfied within the three-dimensional Heisenberg model. Results indicate the presence of short-range interactions. The magnetic entropy change (−ΔSM) reached maximum values of 1.75, 1.45, 1.15, 0.8 and 0.43 J Kg−1 K−1 under a magnetic field variation of 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 T, respectively. Nevertheless, these (−ΔSM) values are much low for any potential application at this moment. The nature of this phenomenon is discussed in relation to the characteristics of the magnetic phase transition and critical exponents.  相似文献

Series of polycrystalline manganese perovskite oxides La0.7−xNdxPb0.3MnO3 (x=0, 0.05, and 0.1) are prepared by the sol-gel technique, La0.65Nd0.05Pb0.3MnO3 were representatively investigated because the peculiar double resistivity peaks were found; the maximum magnetic entropy change ΔSH=−2.03 J/kg K and its good refrigerant capacity 71.05 J/kg around room temperature were obtained under 9 kOe magnetic field variation. The expected double peaks of magnetocaloric effect had not occurred since magnetic entropy change originated from the differential coefficient of magnetic moment to temperature; the relatively well refrigerant capacity possibly results from the faint magnetic inhomogeneity mixed in the double exchange strong magnetic signal.  相似文献

Magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity and electrical resistivity measurements have been carried out on a new ruthenate, La2RuO5 (monoclinic, space group P21/c) which reveal that this compound is a magnetic semiconductor with a high magnetic ordering temperature of 170 K. The entropy associated with the magnetic transition is 8.3 J/mol K close to that expected for the low spin (S=1) state of Ru4+ ions. The low temperatures specific heat coefficient γ is found to be nearly zero consistent with the semiconducting nature of the compound. The magnetic ordering temperature of La2RuO5 is comparable to the highest known Curie temperature of another ruthenate, namely, metallic SrRuO3, and in both these compounds the nominal charge state of Ru is 4+.  相似文献

The electrical transport and magnetic properties of high Bi doped (La0.73Bi0.27)0.67Ca0.33MnO3 are studied at the temperature and magnetic field ranges from 10 to 300 K and 0 to 3 T. Significant temperature and magnetic field hystereses are observed in both resistivity and magnetization measurements. Meanwhile, an enhanced magnetoresistance effect, within a wide temperature window, is obtained in the (La0.73Bi0.27)0.67Ca0.33MnO3. The hysteresis and enhanced magnetoresistance are discussed based on an inhomogeneous metastable structure related to the Bi dopant.  相似文献

The charged vector ρ mesons in the presence of external magnetic fields at finite temperature T and chemical potential μ have been investigated in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model.We compute the masses of charged ρ mesons numerically as a function of the magnetic field for different values of temperature and chemical potential.The self-energy of the ρ meson contains the quark-loop contribution,i.e.the leading order contribution in 1/N_C expansion.The charged ρ meson mass decreases with the magnetic field and drops to zero at a critical magnetic field eB_c,which indicates that the charged vector meson condensation,i.e.the electromagnetic superconductor can be induced above the critical magnetic field.Surprisingly,it is found that the charged ρ condensation can even survive at high temperature and density.At zero temperature,the critical magnetic field just increases slightly with the chemical potential,which indicates that charged ρ condensation might occur inside compact stars.At zero density,in the temperature range 0.2 — 0.5 GeV,the critical magnetic field for charged ρ condensation is in the range of 0.2 — 0.6 GeV~2,which indicates that a high temperature electromagnetic superconductor might be created at LHC.  相似文献

The normal state properties (the electronic specific heat constant, Debye temperature and electrical resistivity) and superconducting state properties [the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, and the upper critical field at 0 K, Hc2(0)] have been studied in the La3S4-La2S3 system. The superconducting properties and the electronic specific heat constant exhibit the maximum values in the alloy with the lowest sulfur content that does not undergo a low temperature crystallographic transformation. At lower sulfur contents the alloys exhibit a cubic to tetragonal transformation at ~80 K with a serious degradation in their superconducting properties, especially Hc2 (0). These alloys clearly illustrate that materials which are almost but not quite unstable are good superconductors, relative to the more stable compositions.  相似文献

The La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 composition prepared by sol-gel synthesis was studied by dc magnetization measurements. A large magnetocaloric effect was inferred over a wide range of temperature around the second-order paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition. The change of magnetic entropy increases monotonically with increasing magnetic field and reaches the value of 5.15 J/kg K at 370 K for Δμ0H=5 T. The corresponding adiabatic temperature change is 3.3 K. The changes in magnetic entropy and the adiabatic temperature are also significant at moderate magnetic fields. The magnetic field induced change of the specific heat varies with temperature and has maximum variation near the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition. The obtained results show that La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 could be considered as a potential candidate for magnetic refrigeration applications above room temperature.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the upper critical fields, Hc2(T), are presented for (La1-xGdx)Sn3 and (La1-xTmx)Sn3. For samples with nearly the same Tc, Hc2(T) of the Tm-doped LaSn3 samples are always larger than those for the Gd-doped samples. The results are interpreted in terms of crystalline electric field splitting of magnetic levels of the Tm3+. Pure LaSn3 is found to be a Type I superconductor.  相似文献

We have studied superconducting properties by measuring the electrical resistivity and magnetization for a single crystal of Rh17S15 with a superconducting transition temperature Tc=5.4 K. The upper critical field Hc2(0) and the lower critical field Hc1(0) were obtained as 20.5 and 0.0033 T, respectively. Correspondingly, the coherence length and the penetration depth were estimated to be 40 and 4900 Å, respectively, indicating that Rh17S15 is a typical type-II superconductor with strong correlations of conduction electrons with a 4d-electron character of Rh atoms. The present electron correlations are formed to be enhanced with increasing pressure.  相似文献

In this letter we show that the ESR line widths of Gd3+ in La2S3 (an insulator) and La3S4 (a metal) are the same at 0° K, but that in the latter it has a linear temperature dependence. Because of the identical crystal structures of these compounds this result can unequivically be interpreted as arising from an exchange interaction between the localized moment and the conduction electrons. The system La3-xxS4 therefore is an excellent host for studying the effects of localized moment-conduction electron interactions.  相似文献

Single-phase polycrystalline samples of La0.7Sr0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 with nominal composition of x=0.00, 0.20, 0.40 and 0.50 were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method in air. Investigations of magnetization were carried out in the temperature range 5-400 K and magnetic field range 0-8 T. It was found that the Curie temperature TC decreases with increasing x and the maximum magnetic entropy change (−ΔSM) for x=0.20 is ∼1.203 and ∼2.653 J/kg K, respectively for 2 and 6 T magnetic field near the temperature of 280 K.  相似文献

The specific heat was measured in a highly homogenized sample of (La0.9936Ce0.0064) Al2 between 0.35 and 1.5 K, both in the superconducting and in the normal state. The difference of the specific heats ΔC = CS ? CN was observed to change its sign twice. Hence the existence of an ‘intermediate temperature superconductor’ is suggested by means of a true volume effect. Reasonable agreement is found between the conclusions from the specific heat experiment and recent results of Winzer obtained for the upper critical magnetic field.  相似文献

The specific heat and resistive upper critical magnetic field of the single crystal La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 are investigated in the temperature range 2–50 K in magnetic fields up to 8 T for two directions of the magnetic field, parallel and normal to the ab crystalline plane. For both orientations a nonlinear (close to square root) magnetic field dependence of the mixed-state specific heat and a positive curvature of the temperature dependence of the upper critical magnetic field are observed. Neither of these anomalies is described by standard theories of superconductivity. Within the framework of the thermodynamic relations it is shown that in a type-II superconductor a relationship exists between the temperature dependence of the critical magnetic field and the field dependence of the specific heat.
