Let Δ q be the set of functionsf for which theqth difference, is nonnegative on the interval [? 1,1],P n is the set of algebraic polynomials of degree not exceedingn, τ k (f, δ) p is the averaged Sendov-Popov modulus of smoothness in theL p [?1,1] metric for 1≦p≦∞, ω k (f, δ) and $\omega _\phi ^k (f,\delta ),\phi (x): = \sqrt {1 - x^2 } ,$ , are the usual modulus and the Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness in the uniform metric, respectively. For a functionfC[?1,1]?Δ2 we construct a polynomialp n P n 2 such that $$\begin{gathered} \left| {f(x) - p_n (x)} \right| \leqslant C\omega _3 (f,n^{ - 1} \sqrt {1 - x^2 } + n^{ - 2} ),x \in [ - 1,1]; \hfill \\ \left\| {f - p_n } \right\|_\infty \leqslant C\omega _\phi ^3 (f,n^{ - 1} ); \hfill \\ \left\| {f - p_n } \right\|_p \leqslant C\tau _3 (f,n^{ - 1} )_p . \hfill \\ \end{gathered}$$ As a consequence, for a functionfC 2[?1,1]?Δ3 a polynomialp n * P n 3 exists such that $$\left\| {f - p_n^* } \right\|_\infty \leqslant Cn^{ - 1} \omega _2 (f\prime ,n^{ - 1} ),$$ wheren≥2 andC is an absolute constant.  相似文献

Some estimates for simultaneous polynomial approximation of a function and its derivatives are obtained. These estimates are exact in a certain sense. In particular, the following result is derived as a corollary: Forf∈C r[?1,1],mN, and anyn≥max{m+r?1, 2r+1}, an algebraic polynomialP n of degree ≤n exists that satisfies $$\left| {f^{\left( k \right)} \left( x \right) - P_n^{\left( k \right)} \left( {f,x} \right)} \right| \leqslant C\left( {r,m} \right)\Gamma _{nrmk} \left( x \right)^{r - k} \omega ^m \left( {f^{\left( r \right)} ,\Gamma _{nrmk} \left( x \right)} \right),$$ for 0≤k≤r andx ∈ [?1,1], where ωυ(f(k),δ) denotes the usual vth modulus of smoothness off (k), and Moreover, for no 0≤k≤r can (1?x 2)( r?k+1)/(r?k+m)(1/n2)(m?1)/(r?k+m) be replaced by (1-x2)αkn2αk-2, with αk>(r-k+a)/(r-k+m).  相似文献

Let fC[?1, 1]. Let the approximation rate of Lagrange interpolation polynomial of f based on the nodes $ \left\{ {\cos \frac{{2k - 1}} {{2n}}\pi } \right\} \cup \{ - 1,1\} $ be Δ n + 2(f, x). In this paper we study the estimate of Δ n + 2(f,x), that keeps the interpolation property. As a result we prove that $$ \Delta _{n + 2} (f,x) = \mathcal{O}(1)\left\{ {\omega \left( {f,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}} \right)\left| {T_n (x)} \right|\ln (n + 1) + \omega \left( {f,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}\left| {T_n (x)} \right|} \right)} \right\}, $$ where T n (x) = cos (n arccos x) is the Chebeyshev polynomial of first kind. Also, if fC r [?1, 1] with r ≧ 1, then $$ \Delta _{n + 2} (f,x) = \mathcal{O}(1)\left\{ {\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {{n^r }}\left| {T_n (x)} \right|\omega \left( {f^{(r)} ,\frac{{\sqrt {1 - x^2 } }} {n}} \right)\left( {\left( {\sqrt {1 - x^2 } + \frac{1} {n}} \right)^{r - 1} \ln (n + 1) + 1} \right)} \right\}. $$   相似文献

In this paper we consider the behaviour of partial sums of Fourier—Walsh—Paley series on the group62-01. We prove the following theorems: Theorem 1. Then for anyfL (G) $$\left( {\frac{1}{m}\sum\limits_{j = 1}^m {|Sn_j (f;0)|^2 } } \right)^{1/2} \leqq C \cdot \left\| f \right\|_\infty $$ . Theorem 2. Let {n k } k =1/∞ be a lacunary sequence of natural numbers,n k+1/n kq>1. Then for anyfεL (G) $$\sum\limits_{j = 1}^m {|Sn_j (f;0)| \leqq C_q \cdot m^{1/2} \cdot \log n_m \cdot \left\| f \right\|_\infty } $$ . Theorems. Let µ k =2 k +2 k-2+2 k-4+...+2α 0,α 0=0,1. Letk n be the smallest constant such that for anyn-dimensional normed spaceX and any invertible linear operatorTL(X) we have $|\det (T)| \cdot ||T^{ - 1} || \le k_n |||T|^{n - 1} $ . LetA + be the Banach space of all analytic functionsf(z)=Σ k≥0 a kzk on the unit diskD with absolutely convergent Taylor series, and let ‖fA + k≥0κ|; define ? n on $\overline D ^n $ by $ \begin{array}{l} \varphi _n \left( {\lambda _1 ,...,\lambda _n } \right) \\ = inf\left\{ {\left\| f \right\|_{A + } - \left| {f\left( 0 \right)} \right|; f\left( z \right) = g\left( z \right)\prod\limits_{i = 1}^n {\left( {\lambda _1 - z} \right), } g \in A_ + , g\left( 0 \right) = 1 } \right\} \\ \end{array} $ . We show thatk n=sup {? n1,…, λ n ); (λ1,…, λ n )∈ $\overline D ^n $ }. Moreover, ifS is the left shift operator on the space ?∞:S(x 0,x 1, …,x p, …)=(x 1,…,x p,…) and if Jn(S) denotes the set of allS-invariantn-dimensional subspaces of ?∞ on whichS is invertible, we have $k_n = \sup \{ |\det (S|_E )|||(S|_E )^{ - 1} ||E \in J_n (S)\} $ . J. J. Schäffer (1970) proved thatk n≤√en and conjectured thatk n=2, forn≥2. In factk 3>2 and using the preceding results, we show that, up to a logarithmic factor,k n is of the order of √n whenn→+∞.  相似文献

Let \(f(z): = \sum\nolimits_{j = 0}^\infty {a_j z^J } \) be entire, witha j≠0,j large enough, \(\lim _{J \to \infty } a_{j + 1} /a_J = 0\) , and, for someqC, \(q_j : = a_{j - 1} a_{j + 1} /a_j^2 \to q\) asj→∞. LetE mn(f; r) denote the error in best rational approximation off in the uniform norm on |z‖≤r, by rational functions of type (m, n). We study the behavior ofE mn(f; r) asm and/orn→∞. For example, whenq above is not a root of unity, or whenq is a root of unity, butq m has a certain asymptotic expansion asm→∞, then we show that, for each fixed positive integern, ,m→∞. In particular, this applies to the Mittag-Leffler functions \(f(z): = \sum\nolimits_{j = 0}^\infty {z^j /\Gamma (1 + j/\lambda )} \) and to \(f(z): = \sum\nolimits_{j = 0}^\infty {z^j /(j!)^{I/\lambda } } \) , λ>0. When |q‖<1, we also handle the diagonal case, showing, for example, that ,n→∞. Under mild additional conditions, we show that we can replace 1+0(1) n by 1+0(1). In all cases we show that the poles of the best approximants approach ∞ asm→∞.  相似文献

We prove the following theorem: Suppose the function f(x) belongs toL q (ω, ? n ), ω ? ? m , q∈(1, ∞), and satisfies the inequality $$|\int\limits_\omega {(f(x),{\mathbf{ }}v(x)){\mathbf{ }}dx| \leqslant \mu ||} v||'_q ,{\mathbf{ }}\tfrac{1}{q} + \tfrac{1}{{q'}} = 1,$$ for all n-dimensional vector-valued functions in the kernel of a scalar-valued first-order differential operator £ for which the second-order operatorLL * is elliptic. Then there exists a function p(x)∈W q 1 (ω) such that $$||f(x) - \mathfrak{L}^* p(x)||q \leqslant C_q \mu .$$ Bibliography: 6 titles.  相似文献

For a symmetric function F, the eigen-operator Δ F acts on the modified Macdonald basis of the ring of symmetric functions by $\Delta_{F} \tilde{H}_{\mu}= F[B_{\mu}] \tilde{H}_{\mu}$ . In a recent paper (Int. Math. Res. Not. 11:525–560, 2004), J. Haglund showed that the expression $\langle\Delta_{h_{J}} E_{n,k}, e_{n}\rangle$ q,t-enumerates the parking functions whose diagonal word is in the shuffle 12?J∪∪J+1?J+n with k of the cars J+1,…,J+n in the main diagonal including car J+n in the cell (1,1) by t area q dinv. In view of some recent conjectures of Haglund–Morse–Zabrocki (Can. J. Math., doi:10.4153/CJM-2011-078-4, 2011), it is natural to conjecture that replacing E n,k by the modified Hall–Littlewood functions $\mathbf{C}_{p_{1}}\mathbf{C}_{p_{2}}\cdots\mathbf{C}_{p_{k}} 1$ would yield a polynomial that enumerates the same collection of parking functions but now restricted by the requirement that the Dyck path supporting the parking function touches the diagonal according to the composition p=(p 1,p 2,…,p k ). We prove this conjecture by deriving a recursion for the polynomial $\langle\Delta_{h_{J}} \mathbf{C}_{p_{1}}\mathbf{C}_{p_{2}}\cdots \mathbf{C}_{p_{k}} 1 , e_{n}\rangle $ , using this recursion to construct a new $\operatorname{dinv}$ statistic (which we denote $\operatorname{ndinv}$ ), then showing that this polynomial enumerates the latter parking functions by $t^{\operatorname{area}} q^{\operatorname{ndinv}}$ .  相似文献

The following theorem is provedTheorem 1.Let q be a polynomial of degree n(qP_n)with n distinct zeroes lying inthe interval[-1,1] and△'_q={-1}∪{τ_i:q'(τ_i)=0,i=1,n-1}∪{1}.If polynomial pP_n satisfies the inequalitythen for each k=1,n and any x[-1,1]its k-th derivative satisfies the inequality丨p~(k)(x)丨≤max{丨q~((k))(x)丨,丨1/k(x~2-1)q~(k+1)(x)+xq~((k))(x)丨}.This estimate leads to the Markov inequality for the higher order derivatives ofpolynomials if we set q=T_n,where Tn is Chebyshev polynomial least deviated from zero.Some other results are established which gives evidence to the conjecture that under theconditions of Theorem 1 the inequality ‖p~((k))‖≤‖q~(k)‖holds.  相似文献

In the projective planes PG(2, q), more than 1230 new small complete arcs are obtained for ${q \leq 13627}$ and ${q \in G}$ where G is a set of 38 values in the range 13687,..., 45893; also, ${2^{18} \in G}$ . This implies new upper bounds on the smallest size t 2(2, q) of a complete arc in PG(2, q). From the new bounds it follows that $$t_{2}(2, q) < 4.5\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 2647$$ and q = 2659,2663,2683,2693,2753,2801. Also, $$t_{2}(2, q) < 4.8\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 5419$$ and q = 5441,5443,5449,5471,5477,5479,5483,5501,5521. Moreover, $$t_{2}(2, q) < 5\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 9497$$ and q = 9539,9587,9613,9623,9649,9689,9923,9973. Finally, $$t_{2}(2, q) <5 .15\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 13627$$ and q = 13687,13697,13711,14009. Using the new arcs it is shown that $$t_{2}(2, q) < \sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73}q {\rm for} 109 \leq q \leq 13627\, {\rm and}\, q \in G.$$ Also, as q grows, the positive difference ${\sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73} q-\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)}$ has a tendency to increase whereas the ratio ${\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)/(\sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73} q)}$ tends to decrease. Here ${\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)}$ is the smallest known size of a complete arc in PG(2,q). These properties allow us to conjecture that the estimate ${t_{2}(2,q) < \sqrt{q}\ln ^{0.73}q}$ holds for all ${q \geq 109.}$ The new upper bounds are obtained by finding new small complete arcs in PG(2,q) with the help of a computer search using randomized greedy algorithms. Finally, new forms of the upper bound on t 2(2,q) are proposed.  相似文献

A sharp result on global small solutions to the Cauchy problem $$u_t = \Delta u + f\left( {u,Du,D^2 u,u_t } \right)\left( {t > 0} \right),u\left( 0 \right) = u_0 $$ In Rn is obtained under the the assumption thatf is C1+r forr>2/n and ‖u 0‖C2(R n ) +‖u 0‖W 1 2 (R n ) is small. This implies that the assumption thatf is smooth and ‖u 0 ‖W 1 k (R n )+‖u 0‖W 2 k (R n ) is small fork large enough, made in earlier work, is unnecessary.  相似文献

We study new series of the form $\sum\nolimits_{k = 0}^\infty {f_k^{ - 1} \hat P_k^{ - 1} (x)} $ in which the general term $f_k^{ - 1} \hat P_k^{ - 1} (x)$ , k = 0, 1, …, is obtained by passing to the limit as α→?1 from the general term $\hat f_k^\alpha \hat P_k^{\alpha ,\alpha } (x)$ of the Fourier series $\sum\nolimits_{k = 0}^\infty {f_k^\alpha \hat P_k^{\alpha ,\alpha } (x)} $ in Jacobi ultraspherical polynomials $\hat P_k^{\alpha ,\alpha } (x)$ generating, for α> ?1, an orthonormal system with weight (1 ? x 2)α on [?1, 1]. We study the properties of the partial sums $S_n^{ - 1} (f,x) = \sum\nolimits_{k = 0}^n {f_k^{ - 1} \hat P_k^{ - 1} (x)} $ of the limit ultraspherical series $\sum\nolimits_{k = 0}^\infty {f_k^{ - 1} \hat P_k^{ - 1} (x)} $ . In particular, it is shown that the operator S n ?1 (f) = S n ?1 (f, x) is the projection onto the subspace of algebraic polynomials p n = p n (x) of degree at most n, i.e., S n (p n ) = p n ; in addition, S n ?1 (f, x) coincides with f(x) at the endpoints ±1, i.e., S n ?1 (f,±1) = f(±1). It is proved that the Lebesgue function Λ n (x) of the partial sums S n ?1 (f, x) is of the order of growth equal to O(ln n), and, more precisely, it is proved that $\Lambda _n (x) \leqslant c(1 + \ln (1 + n\sqrt {1 - x^2 } )), - 1 \leqslant x \leqslant 1$ .  相似文献

The paper deals with the Sturm-Liouville operator $$ Ly = - y'' + q(x)y, x \in [0,1], $$ generated in the space L 2 = L 2[0, 1] by periodic or antiperiodic boundary conditions. Several theorems on the Riesz basis property of the root functions of the operator L are proved. One of the main results is the following. Let q belong to the Sobolev spaceW 1 p [0, 1] for some integer p ≥ 0 and satisfy the conditions q (k)(0) = q (k)(1) = 0 for 0 ≤ ks ? 1, where sp. Let the functions Q and S be defined by the equalities $$ Q(x) = \int_0^x {q(t)dt, S(x) = Q^2 (x)} $$ and let q n , Q n , and S n be the Fourier coefficients of q, Q, and S with respect to the trigonometric system $ \{ e^{2\pi inx} \} _{ - \infty }^\infty $ . Assume that the sequence q 2n ? S 2n + 2Q 0 Q 2n decreases not faster than the powers n ?s?2. Then the system of eigenfunctions and associated functions of the operator L generated by periodic boundary conditions forms a Riesz basis in the space L 2[0, 1] (provided that the eigenfunctions are normalized) if and only if the condition $$ q_{2n} - s_{2n} + 2Q_0 Q_{2n} \asymp q_{ - 2n} - s_{2n} + 2Q_0 Q_{ - 2n} , n > 1, $$ holds.  相似文献
