Previous studies of quantum delta-kicked rotors have found momentum probability distributions with a typical width (localization length L) characterized by fractional variant Planck's over 2pi scaling; i.e., L approximately variant Planck's over 2pi;{2/3} in regimes and phase-space regions close to "golden-ratio" cantori. In contrast, in typical chaotic regimes, the scaling is integer, L approximately variant Planck's over 2pi;{-1}. Here we consider a generic variant of the kicked rotor, the random-pair-kicked particle, obtained by randomizing the phases every second kick; it has no Kol'mogorov-Arnol'd-Moser mixed-phase-space structures, such as golden-ratio cantori, at all. Our unexpected finding is that, over comparable phase-space regions, it also has fractional scaling, but L approximately variant Planck's over 2pi;{-2/3}. A semiclassical analysis indicates that the variant Planck's over 2pi;{2/3} scaling here is of quantum origin and is not a signature of classical cantori.  相似文献

We show that a large contribution to the inertial mass of the Abrikosov vortex comes from transversal displacements of the crystal lattice. The corresponding part of the mass per unit length of the vortex line is M(l)=(m(2)(e)c(2)/64 pi alpha(2)mu lambda(4)(L))ln((lambda(L)/xi), where m(e) is the bare electron mass, c is the speed of light, alpha=e(2)/Planck's over 2 pi c approximately 1/137 is the fine structure constant, mu is the shear modulus of the solid, lambda(L) is the London penetration length, and xi is the coherence length. In conventional superconductors, this mass can be comparable to or even greater than the vortex core mass computed by Suhl [Phys. Rev. Lett. 14, 226 (1965)]].  相似文献

We present results for the nucleon axial charge g{A} at a fixed lattice spacing of 1/a=1.73(3) GeV using 2+1 flavors of domain wall fermions on size 16;{3} x 32 and 24;{3} x 64 lattices (L=1.8 and 2.7 fm) with length 16 in the fifth dimension. The length of the Monte Carlo trajectory at the lightest m_{pi} is 7360 units, including 900 for thermalization. We find finite volume effects are larger than the pion mass dependence at m{pi}=330 MeV. We also find a scaling with the single variable m{pi}L which can also be seen in previous two-flavor domain wall and Wilson fermion calculations. Using this scaling to eliminate the finite-volume effect, we obtain g{A}=1.20(6)(4) at the physical pion mass, m_{pi}=135 MeV, where the first and second errors are statistical and systematic. The observed finite-volume scaling also appears in similar quenched simulations, but disappear when V>or=(2.4 fm);{3}. We argue this is a dynamical quark effect.  相似文献

The anisotropic field dependence of the Sommerfeld coefficient gamma has been measured down to B-->0 by combining specific heat and Hall probe magnetization measurements in MgB2 single crystals. We find that gamma(B,theta) is the sum of two contributions arising from the sigma and pi band, respectively. We show that gammasigma(B,theta)=B/Bc2(theta) where Bc2(theta)=Bc2ab/sqrt[sin2theta+Gamma2cos2theta] with Gamma approximately 5.4 (theta being the angle between the applied field and the c axis) and gammapi(B,theta)=gammapi(B)=B/Bpi(B). The "critical field" of the pi band Bpi is fully isotropic but field dependent increasing from approximately 0.25 T for B< or =0.1 T up to 3 T approximately Bc2c for B-->3 T. Because of the coupling of the two bands, superconductivity survives in the pi band up to 3 T but is totally destroyed above for any orientation of the field.  相似文献

Using the complete KTeV data set of 5,241 candidate K(L)--> pi(+) pi(-) e(+) e(-) decays (including an estimated background of 204 +/- 14 events), we have measured the coupling g(CR)= 0.163 +/- 0.0149(stat) +/- 0.023(syst) of the CP conserving charge radius process and from it determined a K(0) charge radius of = [-0.077 +/- 0.007(stat) +/- 0.011(syst)]fm(2). We have determined a first experimental upper limit of 0.04 (90% C.L.) /g(e1)/ / /g(M1)/ of the couplings for the E1 and M1 direct photon emission processes. We also report the measurement of /g(M1)/ including a vector form factor /g(M1)/(1 + (a(1)/a(2))/((M(2)(p)-(M(2)(k))= 2M(K)E(gamma*)), where vector /g(M1)/= 1.11+/- 0.12(stat) +/- 0.08(syst) and a(1)/a(2) = [-0.744 +/- 0.027(stat) +/- 0.032(syst)] GeV(2)/c(2). Finally, a CP-violating asymmetry of [13.6 +/- 1.4(stat) +/- 1.5(syst)]% in the CP and T odd angle phi between the decay planes of the e(+) e(-) and pi(+) pi(-) pairs in the K(L) center of mass is reported.  相似文献

Two-dimensional Hall magnetohydrodynamic simulations are used to determine the magnetic reconnection rate in the Hall limit. The simulations are run until a steady state is achieved for four initial current sheet thicknesses: L=1,5,10, and 20c/omega(pi), where c/omega(pi) is the ion inertial length. It is found that the asymptotic (i.e., time independent) state of the system is nearly independent of the initial current sheet width. Specifically, the Hall reconnection rate is weakly dependent on the initial current layer width and is partial differential Phi/ partial differential t less, similar 0.1V(A0)B0, where Phi the reconnected flux, and V(A0) and B0 are the Alfvén velocity and magnetic field strength in the upstream region. Moreover, this rate appears to be independent of the scale length on which the electron "frozen-in" condition is broken (as long as it is 相似文献

We consider the two-dimensional (2D) random Ising model on a diagonal strip of the square lattice, where the bonds take two values, J1>J2, with equal probability. Using an iterative method, based on a successive application of the star-triangle transformation, we have determined at the bulk critical temperature the correlation length along the strip xi(L) for different widths of the strip L相似文献

Using the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence, we relate the shear viscosity eta of the finite-temperature N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the large N, strong-coupling regime with the absorption cross section of low-energy gravitons by a near-extremal black three-brane. We show that in the limit of zero frequency this cross section coincides with the area of the horizon. From this result we find eta = pi / 8N(2)T3. We conjecture that for finite 't Hooft coupling g(2)(YM)N the shear viscosity is eta = f(g(2)(YM)N)N2T3, where f(x) is a monotonic function that decreases from O(x(-2)ln(-1)(1/x)) at small x to pi/8 when x-->infinity.  相似文献

We report a systematic high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on high-T(c) superconductors Bi(2)Sr(2)Ca(n-1)Cu(n)O(2n+4) (n=1-3) to study the origin of many-body interactions responsible for superconductivity. For n=2 and 3, a sudden change in the energy dispersion, so called "kink", becomes pronounced on approaching (pi,0) in the superconducting state, while a kink appears only around the nodal direction in the normal state. For n=1, the kink shows no significant temperature dependence even across T(c). This could suggest that the coupling of electrons with Q=(pi,pi) magnetic mode is dominant in the superconducting state for multilayered cuprates, while the interactions at the normal state and that of single-layered cuprates have a different origin.  相似文献

We have studied the "wrong-sign" process D0-->K+pi(-) to search for D0-&Dmacr;( 0) mixing. The data come from 9.0 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collisions at sqrt[s] approximately 10 GeV recorded with the CLEO II. V detector. We measure the relative rate of the wrong-sign process D0-->K+pi(-) to the Cabibbo-favored process &Dmacr;( 0)-->K+pi(-) to be R = (0.332(+0.063)(-0.065)+/-0.040)%. We study D0-->K+pi(-) as a function of decay time to distinguish direct doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay from D0-&Dmacr;( 0) mixing. The amplitudes that describe D0-&Dmacr;( 0) mixing, x(') and y('), are consistent with zero. At the 95% C.L. and without assumptions concerning charge-parity ( CP) violating parameters, we find (1/2)x('2)<0.041% and -5.8%相似文献

We have performed studies of the K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma direct emission ( DE) and inner Bremsstrahlung ( IB) vertices, based on data collected by KTeV during the 1996 Fermilab fixed target run. We find a(1)/a(2) = -0.737+/-0.034 GeV2 for the DE form-factor parameter in the rho-propagator parametrization, and report on fits of the form factor to linear and quadratic functions as well. We concurrently measure gamma(K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma,E(*)(gamma)>20 MeV)/gamma(K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)) = (20.8+/-0.3)x10(-3), and a K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma DE/(DE+IB) branching ratio of 0.683+/-0.011.  相似文献

We extend earlier studies of the effects of relaxation on the intensities of pulsed ENDOR signals by introducing a Davies/Hahn (D/H) pulsed ENDOR multi-sequence that corresponds to a series of Davies sequences with the preparation pulse 'turned off'. In this pulse train, the Hahn [pi/2, pi] detection pulse pair of sequence n-1 both generates the echo detected for that sequence and acts as the preparation portion of sequence n, in effect replacing the pi preparation pulse of the Davies sequence. We show both theoretically, through a master-equation approach, and with both (1)H(I=1/2) and (14)N(I=1) ENDOR experiments on the non-heme Fe enzymes, superoxide reductase (SOR) (S=1/2) and AntDO (S=3/2), that under conditions of high electron-spin polarization (high microwave frequency/low temperature) the D/H multi-sequence allows simplification of ENDOR spectra by suppression of nuclear transitions associated with the m(S)=+1/2 (alpha) manifold. As such suppression depends on the sign of A, it allows determination of this sign. The suppression as a function of the time between individual sequences is found to exhibit behaviors that can be classified into three regimes of the ratio of cross-relaxation to spin-lattice relaxation rates: strong cross-relaxation (X-case); comparable rates (XL); negligible cross relaxation (L). Interestingly, the ENDOR behavior of the S=1/2 SOR center indicates it is an L case, while the S=3/2 AntDO is an L case. Overall, the D/H protocol appears to be a robust and general tool for using relaxation effects to manipulate ENDOR spectra.  相似文献

We show that at low temperatures T an inhomogeneous radial magnetic field with magnitude B gives rise to a persistent magnetization current around a mesoscopic ferromagnetic Heisenberg ring. Under optimal conditions, this spin current can be as large as gmicro(B)(T/ variant Planck's over 2pi )exp([-2pi(gmicro(B)B/delta)(1/2)], as obtained from leading-order spin-wave theory. Here g is the gyromagnetic factor, micro(B) is the Bohr magneton, and delta is the energy gap between the ground-state and the first spin-wave excitation. The magnetization current endows the ring with an electric dipole moment.  相似文献

We show that the interlayer tunneling I-V in double-layer quantum Hall states displays a rich behavior which depends on the relative magnitude of sample size, voltage length scale, current screening, disorder, and thermal lengths. For weak tunneling, we predict a negative differential conductance of a power-law shape crossing over to a sharp zero-bias peak. An in-plane magnetic field splits this zero-bias peak, leading instead to a "derivative" feature at V(B)(B(parallel)) = 2 pi Planck's over 2 pi upsilon B(parallel)d/e phi(0), which gives a direct measurement of the dispersion of the Goldstone mode corresponding to the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the double-layer Hall state.  相似文献

The ab-plane reflectance of Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) (Bi-2212) thin films was measured in the 30-25 000 cm(-1) range for one underdoped ( T(c) = 70 K), and one overdoped sample ( T(c) = 63 K) down to 10 K. We find similar behaviors in the temperature dependence of the normal-state infrared response of both samples. Above T(c), the effective spectral weight, obtained from the integrated conductivity, does not decrease when T decreases, so that no opening of an optical pseudogap is seen. We suggest that these are consequences of the pseudogap opening in the k = (0,pi) direction and of the in-plane infrared conductivity being mostly sensitive to the k = (pi,pi) direction.  相似文献

We consider a Kirchhoff network on a random two-dimensional lattice with links and weights as previously specified, and a circular boundary of radiusR. We show rigorously that the resistance between the central point and the boundary, averaged over all placements of the remaining sites with site density ?, is bounded above by $$\begin{array}{*{20}c} {(4\pi )^{ - 1} [\ln (4\pi \rho R^2 ) + 1] + 16[\tan ^{ - 1} 5^{ - {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 4}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 4}} + 5^{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 4}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 4}} /(\sqrt 5 + 1)^2 ]} \\ { \simeq (4\pi )^{ - 1} \ln (4\pi \rho R^2 ) + 12.0.} \\ \end{array} $$   相似文献

The Levinson theorem for the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with both local and the nonlocal symmetric potentials is established by the Sturm–Liouville theorem. The critical case where the Schro;audinger equation has a finite zero-energy solution is also analyzed. It is shown that the number n + (n ) of bound states with even (odd) parity is related to the phase shift +(0)[(0)] of the scattering states with the same parity at zero momentum as

The problems on the positive-energy bound states and the physically redundant state related to the nonlocal interaction are also discussed.  相似文献

We prove that the critical temperature for the BCS gap equation is given by ${T_c = \mu \left( \frac 8\pi {\rm e}^{\gamma -2} + o(1) \right) {\rm e}^{\pi/(2\sqrt \mu a)}}$ in the low density limit μ→ 0, with γ denoting Euler’s constant. The formula holds for a suitable class of interaction potentials with negative scattering length a in the absence of bound states.  相似文献

Muon spin rotation/relaxation measurements have been performed in the itinerant helical magnet MnSi at ambient pressure and at 8.3 kbar. We have found the following: (a) the spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T(1) shows divergence as T1T proportional, variant (T-T(c))(beta) with the power beta larger than 1 near T(c); (b) 1/T(1) is strongly reduced in an applied external field B(L) and the divergent behavior near T(c) is completely suppressed at B(L)> or =4000 G. We discuss that (a) is consistent with the self-consistent renormalization theory and reflects a departure from "mean-field" behavior, while (b) indicates selective suppression of spin fluctuations of the q=0 component by B(L).  相似文献
