A random phase mask is often used for Fourier transform holography to improve its recording and reconstruction characteristics. However, a conventional random phase pattern has the disadvantage of expanding the recording spot, which is caused by the high-resolution phase modulation. Previously, we proposed a random phase pattern that makes the recording spot narrower than the conventional one with maintaining a moderate reconstruction quality. In the present study, we apply the proposed random phase pattern to computer-generated binary holograms and evaluate both the hologram distribution and reconstruction quality in terms of practical holographic memory systems. The results confirm the effectiveness of the random phase in the reconstruction for an elementary data pattern.  相似文献

Using tightly focused femtosecond laser pulses to irradiate lines in aluminosilicate glass, embedded lines with increased refractive index, which function as optical waveguides were observed. The pulse energy (4.5–11.2 μJ) and writing speed (50–700 μm/s) were shown to affect the resultant optical properties of the waveguides such as the magnitude of refractive index change, core diameter and propagation mode. At pulse energies above 5 μJ, two types of structures were observed, namely an inhomogeneous void-like structure and a cross-sectional crack-like structure. These structures were found to affect significantly the resultant waveguiding properties of the irradiated lines. Using pulse energy of 5 μJ or below, single mode waveguides were fabricated. Raman spectroscopy showed that the fs laser pulses generated structural changes to the aluminosilicate glass. The fabrication of a 1×4 splitter was also demonstrated. Novel Bragg grating waveguide structures have been fabricated in bulk borosilicate glass through a type II photosensitivity mechanism driven by single femtosecond laser pulses. Low-loss single-mode waveguides and narrow-linewidth Bragg gratings were generated simultaneously by forming an array of refractive index voxels in a single laser scan. Laser pulse duration is shown to significantly affect the grating strength and waveguide loss. Bragg wavelengths, defined by the periodicity of laser-modified volumes, were fully controlled by the sample scan speed to provide resonances anywhere in the 1200-1620 nm telecommunication bands. Four linear Bragg filters with distinct resonant wavelengths are presented that define the first demonstration of laser writing of multiple-wavelength and cascaded Bragg grating waveguides in a single process step.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the writing of soliton waveguides in lithium niobate with blue violet light, at λ?=?405?nm. This wavelength, obtained from a low-cost laser diode, allows very fast writing of soliton waveguides when comparing with the writing process using green light (532?nm). For the same writing time, there is a decrease of?~4 orders of magnitude of the light intensity necessary for writing soliton waveguides in blue. The writing process is investigated and characterized by tuning parameters, such as beam intensity, external field and beam polarization. The IR guiding capability of these soliton waveguides is tested by guiding femtosecond laser pulses at λ?=?1,550?nm.  相似文献

Single-channel waveguides and Y couplers were fabricated in chalcogenide thin films by use of femtosecond laser pulses from a 25-MHz repetition rate Ti:sapphire laser. Refractive-index differentials (delta n > 10(-2)) were measured through interferometric microscopy and are higher than the typical values reported for oxide glasses. The dependence of the index differential on the peak intensity reveals the nonlinear nature of the photosensitivity in arsenic trisulfide below its bandgap energy, and the refractive-index change is correlated to the photoinduced structural changes inferred by Raman spectroscopy data. A free-electron model to predict the parametric dependence of delta n is proposed.  相似文献

Several types of fluorocarbon polymer (FCP)-coated silver hollow glass waveguides have been fabricated for Er:YAG laser delivery by using the improved wet chemical technique and dynamic coating procedure. The straight losses of 2 m long 700 μmØ and 540 μmØ waveguides are 0.4 and 1.0 dB, respectively. The transmission losses of these waveguides are below 1.5 dB even when the waveguides are bent to 180° with the bending radius of either 20 or 15 cm. The waveguides with the small diameters of 320 and 200 μm have also been developed for clinical treatment, which exhibit low enough transmission losses for Er:YAG laser light.  相似文献

A new method to generate ultrahigh-power microwave pulses compatible with mildly relativistic electron sources is proposed. This method involves a novel microwave compressor in the form of a metal helically corrugated waveguide, which can enhance the power of frequency-modulated nanosecond pulses up to the multigigawatt level. The results of the proof-of-principle experiments at kilowatt power levels are in good agreement with theory.  相似文献

Directional coupling between the even- and odd-parity modes of two parallel dissimilar linear defect waveguides in a square photonic crystal of cylindrical air holes in dielectric background is numerically demonstrated. Projected band-structure computations through the plane-wave expansion method reveal that high-efficiency coupling can be achieved in a frequency range of approximately 9 % extent around the central frequency. Coupling occurs if one row of spacing is maintained between the waveguides supporting even and odd modes, which are composed of annular air holes with outer radii equal to the photonic crystal’s scatterer radii and inner radii of 0.19 and 0.44 periods, respectively. Extinction ratio for coupling from the even to odd mode at the central frequency is 4.0 dB. Coupling length calculated through finite-difference time-domain simulations is approximately 25 periods at the central frequency, in agreement with the estimation through band diagram. Unidirectional light transmission is also demonstrated through finite-difference time-domain simulations, provided that waveguide and coupling lengths are equal. Forward and reverse transmittances of 71 and 0.3 %, respectively, are achieved at the central operation frequency in a 25-period system.  相似文献

A new (to our knowledge) ultrashort laser pulse irradiation regime that allows us to directly modify and increase the refractive index of rare earth doped YAG polycrystalline ceramics has been identified. Single-mode buried channel waveguides in both Ho:YAG and Er:YAG ceramics at the near-IR wavelengths of 1.55?μm and 1.95?μm are demonstrated by fabricating positive square step-index cores. Minimum propagation losses of 1.5?dB?cm(-1) at a 1.51?μm wavelength have been preliminarily obtained. Confocal microluminescence mapping reveals that the increased refractive index regions retain the near-IR spectral properties of Er3+ ions in the YAG crystalline matrix.  相似文献

Optical waveguides have been produced by femtosecond-laser writing in a high linear and nonlinear refractive index glass (SF57). Light guiding occurs nearby a central damaged zone due to the collateral densification caused by shockwaves generated in the focal volume. High pulse energies are required to induce a modified region capable of supporting a guided mode. An alternative processing method, based on using multiple structures, has been successfully used for the production of waveguides with controllable core size at low energies. The threshold for the fabrication of fiber Bragg gratings with ultrafast 800-nm radiation and a phase mask was studied in SMF-28 and all-silica core fiber by use of 125-fs pulses. High-pressure molecular hydrogen loading (H2 loading) was observed to significantly lower the grating writing threshold in standard Ge-doped telecommunication fiber. No reduction was observed with all-silica core fiber. The index change appeared to be confined to the Ge-doped core region of the fiber. Gratings in H2-loaded SMF-28 had thermal annealing behavior similar to UV-induced gratings. Unlike UV-induced H2-loaded gratings, no absorption associated with Ge-OH defect formation was observed.  相似文献

Two-photon polymerization (2PP) is a powerful tool for direct laser writing of micro-optical and photonic structures due to its flexibility in 3D structuring and sub-micrometer resolution. However, it can be time consuming to fabricate arrays of micro-optical devices and complex photonic structures. In this study, we propose to use predefined patterns (PPs) for parallel 2PP processing. A PP contains a multiple focal spot pattern optimized for the fabrication of certain microstructures. PP can be created by holographic laser beam modulation with a spatial light modulator (SLM). The quantity and position of the multiple foci can be flexibly and precisely controlled by predesigned computer generated holograms (CGHs). With these specially designed PPs, parallel fabrication of arbitrary distributed microlens arrays and 3D photonic structures is demonstrated. This method significantly improves throughput and flexibility of the 2PP technique and can be used for mass production of functional devices in micro-optics and photonics.  相似文献

在现有的二维图像再现效果改善方法的基础上,对三维物体再现像质量提高的方法进行研究。基于衍射理论,分析了具有有限填充因子空间光调制器的栅格结构对重构图像质量的影响。编入双线性相位因子到纯相位全息图,使得有效光偏移中心光轴传播,让图像细节得到完整重构再现。然后迭加双会聚球面波相位因子,使得各再现像面与空间光调制器栅格结构引起的多级衍射光聚焦平面的位置进行分离,利用光阑和空间滤波器共同作用来消除高级衍射光以及零级光对重构图像质量的影响。搭建了基于LC-SLM的相位全息图光电再现系统用于实验验证。实验结果表明三维物体再现像质量得到明显的提高。  相似文献

Polycrystalline Ni has been grown by decomposition of Ni(CO)4 using different wavelengths of the visible radiation of a Kr+ laser. The influence of laser irradiance, substrate material and scanning velocity on deposition rate and widths of patterns has been investigated. The deposition rates achieved are typically several μm/s, and the lateral dimensions of the deposits can be as small as 1 μm.  相似文献

For the first time to our knowledge, high-strength (>30 dB) first-order Bragg grating waveguides were fabricated in bulk fused silica glass in a single-scanning step by modulating a high-repetition-rate femtosecond fiber laser with an external acousto-optic modulator. The modulation induced a waveguide segmentation by delivering controlled bursts of laser pulses to define an array of partially overlapped refractive index voxels. With appropriate choice of modulation frequency and sample scanning speed, low loss waveguides could be formed at high writing speeds to yield sharp Bragg spectral resonances tunable over the 1300 to 1550 nm telecom band. Effects of acousto-optic modulation duty cycle on propagation loss and grating strength are characterized. This modulation method offers facile control and integration of multiwavelength Bragg grating devices to enhance overall functionality of optical circuits in three-dimensional geometries.  相似文献

A condition for reducing transmission loss of a dielectric-coated metallic hollow waveguide is shown theoretically when the inner metallic surface is not perfect. It is also shown that the transmission loss for CO2 laser light is 10.6 μm wavelength is able to be estimated from an attenuation spectrum of a short waveguide. By fabricating a ZnSe coated Ag hollow waveguide of short length, we have shown that it has a lower loss than a Ge coated waveguide for CO2 laser light.  相似文献

A method for analysing the displacement field of a hologram from only one beam of light is proposed, and a method for stress and strain analysis is then derived. It possesses the advantages of being simple and precise and is capable of measuring structural strain. It is especially suitable for showing the stress distribution of concentrated stress regions. The validity of this method is proved by two typical kinds of experiment, the results of which coincide with the elasticity theory. The method has been applied to the measurement of gear stresses, including static stress and dynamic stress. The results are in agreement with values obtained by the finite element method.  相似文献

We report the selective metallization of photostructurable glass by femtosecond (fs) laser direct writing followed by electroless copper (Cu) plating. It was found that a Cu thin film can be deposited only on the rough surface of glass ablated by the fs laser. The deposited Cu thin film exhibits strong adhesion and excellent electrical properties. A Cu film can even be deposited on the internal wall of a hollow microchannel inside photostructurable glass by the multiphoton absorption of the fs laser. To show the use of this technique for micro-total-analysis-system (μ-TAS) applications, the fabrication of a microheater operating at temperatures up to 200 °C was demonstrated.
