A time-dependent theoretical treatment of the intensity distribution within a thermally self-defocused laser beam is presented, based on a ray-geometrical approach. Well-modulated interference fringes are predicted extending over most of the beam. This treatment is applicable to beam propagation in media for which the heat transfer by convection can be neglected when compared with that due to conduction. Numerically determined intensity distributions are given and compared with ones obtained experimentally using a laser beam of 488 nm wavelength and an absorbing medium of glycerol doped with iodine. Good agreement is obtained.  相似文献

Guided-mode characteristics of hollow-core photonic crystal fibre (HC-PCF) are experimentally and theoretically investigated. The transmission spectrum in the range from 755 to 845nm is observed and the loss is measured to be 0.12dB/m at 800nm by cut-back method. Based on the full-vector beam propagation method and the full-vector plane-wave method, the characteristics of mode field over propagation distance 1 m are simulated, and the results show that the propagation efficiency can be above 80%. Compared with the fundamental guided mode well confined in air core within shorter propagation distance, the second-order guided mode leaks into the cladding region and gradually attenuates due to larger refractive index difference. The primary loss factors in HC-PCF and the corresponding solutions are elementarily discussed.  相似文献

The quality factor of a laser diode beam tailored by Lloyd’s mirror interference was investigated numerically and experimentally. The far and near-field patterns were analyzed by numerical calculations based on Huygens’ integral. An almost circular tailored beam was calculated to have a quality factor as low as 1.08. This beam-shaping technique was experimentally demonstrated using a commercial 640 nm laser diode and a mirror-polished GaAs substrate. The optical beam tailored by Lloyd’s mirror interference was nearly circular and its beam quality factor was measured to be 1.24. Although this measured beam quality factor is slightly higher than the numerically calculated one, it is acceptably low.  相似文献

SBN:Cr晶体中孤子诱导的实时平面光波导及其导光特性分析   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1  
通过数值模拟和实验对SBN:Cr晶体中的(1+1)维亮屏蔽空间孤子及其诱导的实时平面光波导的导光特性进行了研究.采用分步束传播法和Petviashvili迭代法对(1+1)维亮屏蔽空间孤子的特性进行了模拟.通过求解本征方程,对孤子诱导平面波导中存在的导波模式进行了数值求解.采用633 nm的He-Ne激光作为孤子诱导光束,532 nm的半导体泵浦的固体激光作为探测光,在固液同成分的SBN:Cr晶体中进行了实验研究.实验结果和数值模拟的结果符合的很好.而且结果表明SBN:Cr晶体中红光诱导的波导可以作为实时光波导.  相似文献

The interaction of visible light with surface plasmons in a periodic array of silver channels is studied experimentally and theoretically. Channels of width 130 nm and depth 280 nm on a pitch of 468 nm were fabricated using electron beam lithography. Measurements of the reflectance of the channels show strong absorption for a specific angle of incidence at a given wavelength of the light. It is shown using a simple geometric model that this is consistent with the excitation and propagation of surface plasmons in the deep sub-wavelength channels. A numerical simulation of the electromagnetic fields excited in the channels confirms this result.  相似文献

We use all fiber single-mode lasers as seed source, all fiber amplifiers and pump laser coupling amplifier has been experimentally investigated, respectively. The max output power of all fiber amplifier is 30.6 W, corresponding slope efficiency is 39.1%. The two setups, amplifier output laser spectrum finely holds the property of seed laser spectrum, the wavelength of output laser are both 1947.6 nm, the spectrum width is less than 2 nm as same as the wavelength of seed laser. We estimate the beam quality to be M 2 = 2.42, clearly indicating nearly diffraction-limited beam propagation.  相似文献

We report on a space-time compression technique allowing for complete and independent control of the longitudinal dynamics and of the transverse pulse localization by means of spatial beam shaping. We present a straightforward method to transform a spatially Gaussian femtosecond laser beam into a flat-top shaped beam. The proposed technique takes advantage of a nonlinear phase induced in positive Kerr medium followed by a simple optical system. The variation of the refractive index with the laser intensity creates a phase plate which induces changes in the beam profile after propagation; flat-top and doughnut profiles are observed. The shaping conditions are computed numerically and confirmed experimentally. The method does not introduce energy losses. The device is very simple, self-regulated, flexible and does not need a manufactured phase plate or precise alignment. This method can be useful for light-matter interaction and laser machining.  相似文献

We theoretically and experimentally investigate the beam-spreading of a vortex beam propagating in a turbulent atmosphere. It is found that the vortex beam is less affected by turbulence than a non-vortex one. The topological charge of the vortex beam on propagation has also been investigated experimentally. It is shown that the topological charge of vortex beam will exhibit fluctuating behavior as the beam propagates through a turbulent atmosphere.  相似文献

We show that the group velocities of light pulses can be decelerated dramatically by the use of a dispersive phase-coupling effect through a wave mixing process. We have observed experimentally such a phase-coupling-induced ultraslow light propagation with a group velocity as low as 0.05 m/s in a photorefractive Bi12SiO20 crystal at room temperature. Moreover, the ultraslow light is amplified in the Bi12SiO20 crystal because of the unidirectional energy transfer from a coupling beam to the ultraslow light. This technique to produce ultraslow light propagation is valid for all nonlinear wave mixing processes with a dispersive phase-coupling effect.  相似文献

对于光斑主轴在传输过程中不停变化的扭曲光束,采用光斑主轴方向上的光束传输比对光束质量等特性进行表征和描述并不全面。针对扭曲高斯光束,在光束传输矩阵的理论计算的基础上,研究了通过双柱透镜产生扭曲光束的方法;推导得到了光束在交叉方向上光束传输比的表达式,并定义了一个新的物理量-光束的扭曲系数;分别采用光束传输矩阵和数值模拟,得到了不同柱透镜之间夹角和间距下的扭曲系数,通过光束传输比和扭曲系数共同对扭曲光束进行表征。结果表明,相比于单纯的光束传输比,两者的组合能够更好地对扭曲光束进行表征。通过实验对理论和仿真结果进行了验证,理论结果和实验结果相符。  相似文献

The combustion of nanometric aluminium (Al) powder with an oxidiser such as molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) is studied analytically. The analysis was performed to correlate individual Al particle gasification rates to macroscopic flame propagation rates observed in flame tube experiments. Examination of various characteristic times relevant to propagation of a deflagration reveals that particles below about 1.7 nm in diameter evaporate before appreciable chemical reactions occur. Experimental studies used Al particles greater than 1.7 nm in diameter such that a diffusion flame model was developed to better understand the combustion dynamics of multiphase Al particles greater than 1.7 nm diameter relative to experimentally measured macroscopic flame propagation rates. The diffusion flame model predicted orders of magnitude slower propagation rates than experimentally observed. These results imply that (1) another reaction mechanism is responsible for promoting reaction propagation and/or (2) modes other than diffusion play a more dominant role in flame propagation.  相似文献

提出了一种新颖的光纤光栅温度调谐方案,并将按此方案制作的调谐装置命名为双肩梁,详细分析了其原理.设计制作了一套双肩梁调谐装置,并对其进行了实验研究.实验中得到了0.436nm/℃的温度调谐效率,把所用光纤光栅的温度灵敏度提高了50倍之多.调谐具有很好的线性和可重复性.该装置最大的优点在于它突破了以往热调谐方法中驱动材料热膨胀系数的限制,使得温度调谐效率可以根据实际需要进行灵活设计,从而具有很大的灵活性.该装置在激光器调谐、高灵敏度温度传感以及传感解调等领域有着很大的潜在应用价值. 关键词: 光纤光栅 调谐 双肩梁 温度调谐  相似文献

This paper investigates the extension of optical fibre beam delivery to high-brightness applications, in particular laser percussion drilling, where both a good beam quality and high peak power are required. Beam quality preservation through a number of optical fibres is studied both experimentally and by using a ray propagation model. It is determined that in order to achieve the beam quality required for percussion drilling (M2<30) the largest fibre which can be used is 400 μm diameter. The laser-induced damage threshold is measured for a number of 400 μm fibres, and a CO2 laser-annealing technique is shown to increase the damage threshold by a factor of 10, allowing 28 J, 1 ms pulses to be transmitted.  相似文献

Radiation pressure induced by an evanescent field was experimentally analyzed for a single submicrometer-sized gold particle. The force measurement was based on a thermodynamic analysis of Brownian motion by use of a three-dimensional position-sensing technique. The lateral radiation pressure could be ascribed to a scattering force, which was oriented in the same direction as the propagation vector of the incident laser beam. The potential profile in the longitudinal direction indicated that the gold particle was attracted to the high-intensity region of the evanescent field by a gradient force.  相似文献

The filamentation of femtosecond light pulses in air is numerically and experimentally investigated for beam powers reaching several TW. Beam propagation is shown to be driven by the interplay between intense, robust spikes created by the defects of the input beam and random nucleation of light cells. Evolution of the filament patterns can be qualitatively reproduced by an averaged-in-time (2D+1)-dimensional model derived from the propagation equations for ultrashort pulses.  相似文献

无衍射光束(如贝塞尔光束、艾里光束)因具有无衍射、自愈合的特性, 在很多领域都有广泛的应用. 本文提出使用纯相位型空间光调制器对光场的复振幅进行调控, 从而可以产生多种复杂模式的无衍射光束, 如强度可独立调控的多个零阶贝塞尔光束, 两个高阶贝塞尔光束干涉生成的花瓣状无衍射光束, 具有多个主瓣的加速光束等特殊的无衍射光束. 通过在待测焦场附近放置一个平面反射镜, 使其沿光轴快速扫描光场, 并由数字相机同步拍摄反射回来的一系列二维光场强度分布信息, 可实现对无衍射光束三维光场强度分布的快速测量和表征. 本实验方法和技术可以快速产生各种复杂的特殊光场并获得其精确的三维可视化重建效果, 在光学显微、光学俘获、光学微加工等领域有潜在的应用价值.  相似文献

We demonstrate both experimentally and theoretically controlled acceleration of one- and two-dimensional Airy beams in optically induced refractive-index potentials. Enhancement as well as reduction of beam acceleration are realized by changing the index gradient, while the beam shape is maintained during propagation through the linear optical potential. Our results of active acceleration manipulation in graded media are pertinent to Airy-type beam propagation in various environments.  相似文献
