Sixteen intermolecular vibrational levels of the S(0) state of the fluorobenzene-Ar van der Waals complex have been observed using dispersed fluorescence. The levels range up to ~130 cm(-1) in vibrational energy. The vibrational energies have been modelled using a complete set of harmonic and quartic anharmonic constants and a cubic anharmonic coupling between the stretch and long axis bend overtone that becomes near ubiquitous at higher energies. The constants predict the observed band positions with a root mean square deviation of 0.04 cm(-1). The set of vibrational levels predicted by the constants, which includes unobserved bands, has been compared with the predictions of ab initio calculations, which include all vibrational levels up to 70-75 cm(-1). There are small differences in energy, particularly above 60 cm(-1), however, the main differences are in the assignments and are largely due to the limitations of assigning the ab initio wavefunctions to a simple stretch, bend, or combination when the states are mixed by the cubic anharmonic coupling. The availability of these experimental data presents an opportunity to extend ab initio calculations to higher vibrational energies to provide an assessment of the accuracy of the calculated potential surface away from the minimum. The intermolecular modes of the fluorobenzene-Ar(2) trimer complex have also been investigated by dispersed fluorescence. The dominant structure is a pair of bands with a ~35 cm(-1) displacement from the origin band. Based on the set of vibrational modes calculated from the fluorobenzene-Ar frequencies, they are assigned to a Fermi resonance between the symmetric stretch and symmetric short axis bend overtone. The analysis of this resonance provides a measurement of the coupling strength between the stretch and short axis bend overtone in the dimer, an interaction that is not directly observed. The coupling matrix elements determined for the fluorobenzene-Ar stretch-long axis bend overtone and stretch-short axis bend overtone couplings are remarkably similar (3.8 cm(-1) cf. 3.2 cm(-1)). Several weak features seen in the fluorobenzene-Ar(2) spectrum have also been assigned.  相似文献

We present very accurate calculations of the ground-state potential energy curve (PEC) of the LiH molecule performed with all-electron explicitly correlated Gaussian functions with shifted centers. The PEC is generated with the variational method involving simultaneous optimization of all Gaussians with an approach employing the analytical first derivatives of the energy with respect to the Gaussian nonlinear parameters (i.e., the exponents and the coordinates of the shifts). The LiH internuclear distance is varied between 1.8 and 40 bohrs. The absolute accuracy of the generated PEC is estimated as not exceeding 0.3 cm(-1). The adiabatic corrections for the four LiH isotopologues, i.e., (7)LiH, (6)LiH, (7)LiD, and (6)LiD, are also calculated and added to the LiH PEC. The aforementioned PECs are then used to calculate the vibrational energies for these systems. The maximum difference between the computed and the experimental vibrational transitions is smaller than 0.9 cm(-1). The contribution of the adiabatic correction to the dissociation energy of (7)LiH molecule is 10.7 cm(-1). The magnitude of this correction shows its importance in calculating the LiH spectroscopic constants. As the estimated contribution of the nonadiabatic and relativistic effects to the ground state dissociation energy is around 0.3 cm(-1), their inclusion in the LiH PEC calculation seems to be the next most important contribution to evaluate in order to improve the accuracy achieved in this work.  相似文献

A three-dimensional global potential energy surface for the ground electronic state of MgH(2) is constructed from more than 3000 ab initio points calculated using the internally contracted multireference configuration interaction method with the Davidson correction at the complete basis set limit. Low-lying vibrational energy levels of MgH(2) and MgD(2) are calculated using the Lanczos algorithm, and found to be in good agreement with known experimental band origins. The majority of the vibrational energy levels up to 8000 cm(-1) are assigned with normal mode quantum numbers. However, our results indicate a gradual transition from a normal mode regime for the stretching vibrations at low energies to a local mode regime near 7400 cm(-1), as evidenced by a decreasing energy gap between the (n(1),0,0) and (n(1)-1,0,1) vibrational states and bifurcation of the corresponding wave functions.  相似文献

The global potential energy surfaces for both the ground (X?(1)A(')) and excited (A?(1)A(')) electronic states of the HNO molecule have been constructed by three-dimensional cubic spline interpolation of more than 17,000 ab initio points, which have been calculated at the internal contracted multi-reference configuration interaction level with the Davidson correction using an augmented correlation-consistent polarized valence quadruple zeta basis set. The low-lying vibrational energy levels for the two electronic states of HNO have also been calculated on our potential energy surfaces including the diagonal Renner-Teller terms. The calculated results have shown a good agreement with the experimental vibrational frequencies of HNO and its isotopomers.  相似文献

The molecular vibrations of xanthine were investigated in polycrystalline sample, at room temperature by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and FT-Raman spectroscopies. The spectra of the molecule have been recorded in the regions 4000-50 cm(-1) and 3500-100 cm(-1), respectively. Theoretical information on the optimized geometry, harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared and Raman intensities were obtained by means of ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) gradient calculations with complete relaxation in the potential energy surface using 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The vibrational frequencies which were determined experimentally from the spectral data are compared with those obtained theoretically from ab initio and DFT calculations. A close agreement was achieved between the observed and calculated frequencies by refinement of the scale factors. The infrared and Raman spectra were also predicted from the calculated intensities. Thermodynamic properties like entropy, heat capacity, zero point energy have been calculated for the molecule. Unambiguous vibrational assignment of all the fundamentals was made using the potential energy distribution (PED).  相似文献

A three-dimensional global potential energy surface for the ground (X (1)Sigma(+)(g))electronic state of HgH(2) is constructed from more than 13,00 ab initio points. These points are generated using an internally contracted multireference configuration interaction method with the Davidson correction and a large basis set. Low-lying vibrational energy levels of HgH(2), HHgD, and HgD(2) calculated using the Lanczos algorithm are found to be in good agreement with the available experimental band origins. The majority of the vibrational energy levels up to 9000 cm(-1) are assigned with normal mode quantum numbers. Our results indicate a gradual transition for the stretching vibrations from the normal mode regime at low energies to the local mode regime near 9000 and 8000 cm(-1) for HgH(2) and HgD(2), respectively, as evidenced by a decreasing energy gap between the (0,0,n(3)) and (1,0,n(3)-1) vibrational states and bifurcation of the corresponding wave functions.  相似文献

The high accuracy ab initio adiabatic potential energy surfaces (PESs) of the ground electronic state of the water molecule, determined originally by Polyansky et al. [Science 299, 539 (2003)] and called CVRQD, are extended and carefully characterized and analyzed. The CVRQD potential energy surfaces are obtained from extrapolation to the complete basis set of nearly full configuration interaction valence-only electronic structure computations, augmented by core, relativistic, quantum electrodynamics, and diagonal Born-Oppenheimer corrections. We also report ab initio calculations of several quantities characterizing the CVRQD PESs, including equilibrium and vibrationally averaged (0 K) structures, harmonic and anharmonic force fields, harmonic vibrational frequencies, vibrational fundamentals, and zero-point energies. They can be considered as the best ab initio estimates of these quantities available today. Results of first-principles computations on the rovibrational energy levels of several isotopologues of the water molecule are also presented, based on the CVRQD PESs and the use of variational nuclear motion calculations employing an exact kinetic energy operator given in orthogonal internal coordinates. The variational nuclear motion calculations also include a simplified treatment of nonadiabatic effects. This sophisticated procedure to compute rovibrational energy levels reproduces all the known rovibrational levels of the water isotopologues considered, H(2) (16)O, H(2) (17)O, H(2) (18)O, and D(2) (16)O, to better than 1 cm(-1) on average. Finally, prospects for further improvement of the ground-state adiabatic ab initio PESs of water are discussed.  相似文献

An analytical expression is found for the accurate ab initio potential energy curve of the fluorine molecule that has been determined in the preceding two papers. With it, the vibrational and rotational energy levels of F(2) are calculated using the discrete variable representation. The comparison of this theoretical spectrum with the experimental spectrum, which had been measured earlier using high-resolution electronic spectroscopy, yields a mean absolute deviation of about 5 cm(-1) over the 22 levels. The dissociation energy with respect to the lowest vibrational energy is calculated within 30 cm(-1) of the experimental value of 12 953+/-8 cm(-1). The reported agreement of the theoretical spectrum and dissociation energy with experiment is contingent upon the inclusion of the effects of core-generated electron correlation, spin-orbit coupling, and scalar relativity. The Dunham analysis [Phys. Rev. 41, 721 (1932)] of the spectrum is found to be very accurate. New values are given for the spectroscopic constants.  相似文献

Exact variational calculations of vibrational energies of CH4 and CH3D are carried out using a two-layer Lanczos algorithm based on the ab initio potential energy surface of D. W. Schwenke and H. Partridge, Spectrochim. Acta, Part A 57, 887 (2001). The convergence of the calculated vibrational energies is discussed in detail. In addition, we report all well converged vibrational energy levels up to 6600 cm(-1) for CH4, and those up to 5000 cm(-1) for CH3D, respectively. These results clearly outperform previous theoretical calculations. And a comparison with experimental results available is also made.  相似文献

The energy levels of CH(3)Cl(+)X?(2)E showing strong spin-vibronic coupling effect (Jahn-Teller effect) have been measured up to 3500 cm(-1) above the ground vibrational state using one-photon zero-kinetic energy photoelectron and mass-analyzed threshold ionization spectroscopic method. Theoretical calculations have been also performed to calculate the spin-vibronic energy levels using a diabatic model and ab initio adiabatic potential energy surfaces (PESs). In the theoretical calculations the diabatic potential energy surfaces are expanded by the Taylor expansions up to the fourth-order including the multimode vibronic interactions. The calculated spin-orbit energy splitting (224.6 cm(-1)) for the ground vibrational state is in good agreement with the experimental data (219 ± 3 cm(-1)), which indicates that the Jahn-Teller and the spin-orbit coupling have been properly described in the theoretical model near the zero-point energy level. Based on the assignments predicted by the theoretical calculations, the experimentally measured energy levels were fitted to those from the diabatic model by optimizing the main spectroscopic parameters. The PESs from the ab initio calculations at the level of CASPT2/vq(t)z were thus compared with those calculated from the experimentally determined spectroscopic parameters. The theoretical diagonal elements in the diabatic potential matrix are in good agreement with those determined using the experimental data, however, the theoretical off-diagonal elements appreciably deviate from those determined using the experimental data for geometric points far away from the conical intersections. It is also concluded that the JT effect in CH(3)Cl(+) mainly arises from the linear coupling and the mode coupling between the CH(3) deform (υ(5)) and CH(3) rock (υ(6)) vibrations. The mode couplings between the symmetric C-Cl stretching vibration υ(3) with υ(5) and υ(6) are also important to understand the spin-vibronic structure of the molecule.  相似文献

Using a potential energy curve (based primarily on the RKR potential of Amiot and Verges [J. Chem. Phys. 112, 7068 (2000)]) and a dipole moment function (based primarily on ab initio calculations of Park et al. [Chem. Phys. 257, 135 (2000)]), we have calculated radiative transition probabilities (Einstein A coefficients), radiative lifetimes, and dipole moment expectation values involving all vibrational levels (for several rotational quantum numbers) of the X1Sigma+ ground state of 39K85Rb. We observe that the radiative lifetimes of vibrationally excited levels, in particular, are approximately 10(3)-10(6) seconds, far too long to be significant in most ultracold experiments involving 39K85Rb or its isotopomers. Comparison with other molecules (LiH and HF) suggests that simple scaling (A approximately mu2nu3 approximately tau(-1)) will predict similarly long lifetimes for many other heteronuclear molecules, e.g., RbCs.  相似文献
