In chinchillas, the length of the organ of Corti was found to vary by as much as 26% of the mean (18.31 mm). In specimens of different lengths, areas in which the basilar membrane and organ of Corti have the same physical dimensions were found to be located at the same percentage distance along the cochlear partition. Average densities of the inner and outer hair cells were noted to decrease with increasing cochlear length. However, the rate of decrease in density was less than the rate of increase in length. These findings indicate that long cochleas have a greater amount of the organ of Corti (and hence more sensory cells) in a given frequency region.  相似文献

A 2.3 kJ plasma focus (PF) device was used to investigate the variation of focus action with electrode length using argon, air, and nitrogen as filling gases. It was observed that for an inner electrode (IE) of negative polarity, the focus action improved tremendously as the electrode lengths were reduced from 80 to 40 mm. The high voltage (HV) pulse width also decreased with the decrease in electrode lengths. Third, the best focus peak of the HV pulse was shifted toward higher focus pressures, and the range for good focus action was broader. There is a tendency toward improvement of focus action toward significantly shorter IE lengths (about 40 mm) for negative polarity as compared to positive polarity, where the optimum IE length is 150 mm. This suggests that plasma contamination due to ablated IE material is minimized with shorter electrode length for negative IE. This could provide part of the solution to the polarity riddle of PF devices in relation to neutron production  相似文献

利用近红外光谱在不同光程下对山茶油中掺杂大豆油的掺伪量进行定量检测研究,着重分析光程对掺伪量检测精度的影响。将大豆油按一定质量分数掺入山茶油获取实验样本,掺伪质量分数范围为1%~50%。利用QualitySpec型光谱仪采集样本在不同光程(1,2,4,10 mm)下的透射光谱,通过对比不同建模方法、预处理方法及建模波段范围所建立的掺伪量定量预测模型,分析光程对掺伪量检测精度的影响。研究结果表明,光程由1 mm增加到4 mm时,掺伪量定量预测模型性能随着光程的增加而逐渐变好,检测精度逐步提高;光程由 4 mm增加到10 mm时,掺伪量定量预测模型性能变差,检测精度下降,4 mm为较优的光程。在1,2,4和10 mm下所建立的较优掺伪量定量预测模型的预测集决定系数 (R2P)和预测均方根误差(RMSEP)分别为0.923, 0.977, 0.989, 0.962和4.58%, 2.54%, 1.72%, 3.20%。  相似文献

Movement of line-like samples with lengths from 5 to 50 mm along thex-axis of the double TE104rectangular cavity has been analyzed. The observed dependencies of the EPR signal intensity versus sample position showed: (i) a sharp maximum for sample lengths from 5 to 20 mm; (ii) a plateau, over which the EPR signal intensity remained constant within experimental errors of 0.26–1.07%, for lengths from 30 to 40 mm; and (iii) a “sloping plateau,” which could be approximated by the linear function (correlation,r= 0.98) for sample length 50 mm. Theoretical values of the experimentally observed dependencies of the intensity versus sample position were calculated using the modified sine-squared function and the correlation between observed and theoretically predicted dependencies is very good. The experimental dependence of the EPR signal intensity versus the sample length for samples situated at the same point in the cavity was nonlinear with a maximum for the 40-mm sample. The dependence of the EPR signal intensity upon the movement of a large cylindrical sample (o.d. 4 mm and length 100 mm) along thex-axis of the cavity was similar to that found for the 50-mm sample. However, an additional oscillating signal superimposed on the sloping plateau was observed. The presence of a large sample fixed in the complementary cavity of the double TE104cavity caused an additional deformation of the signal intensity for a 30-mm sample which was moving in the first cavity. The primary effect was that the plateau was replaced by a region in which the intensity increased linearly with sample position,r= 0.99. Each of the above phenomena may be a source of significant errors in quantitative EPR spectroscopy. Cylindrical samples to be compared should be of identical length and internal diameter. Accurate and precise positioning of each sample in the microwave cavity is essential.  相似文献

Ten chinchilla cochleas which ranged in length from 16.00 to 19.71 m were used for this study. The cross-sectional area and perimeter of the inner and outer hair cells and their nuclei were determined at two locations per cochlear turn and at the junction between each of the turns (11 locations from apex to base). Some interanimal variation in hair cell dimensions was noted. However, none of these size variations could be attributed to any known differences among the animals. It was concluded that the data reported here represent the natural variation in hair cell size in chinchillas. The data establish a baseline to which the dimensions of cells from abnormal cochleas can be compared, regardless of the length of the cochlea or the base-to-apex location of the cells.  相似文献

数值模拟并分析了以GaSe晶体为例对光学差频产生太赫兹(THz)波的特性.结果表明:当THz波长为227.5 μm,晶体长度为26.3 mm时,产生THz波功率达到增益饱和,在增益饱和点输出最高峰值功率可以达到945 W.由于晶体吸收的影响,THz波的增益饱和区是输出功率的非稳定区,而THz波的输出稳定区位于增益饱和区之后,在稳定区的THz波稳定性取决于抽运光的稳定性.当THz波波长为227.5 μm时,达到稳定区所需晶体长度为37.9 mm,此时THz波输出峰值功率可以达到735 W. 关键词: 光学差频 太赫兹辐射 稳定性  相似文献

The response of the cavity to the movement of cylindrical samples with internal diameters from 0.7 to 4 mm and lengths from 5 to 50 mm along thex-axis of the Bruker double TE104 and single TE102 rectangular cavity has been analyzed. Independently of sample internal diameter, the experimentally observed dependences of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signal intensity versus sample position in the cavity showed the following: (i) a sharp maximum for sample lengths from 5 to 20 mm; (ii) a “plateau”, over which the signal intensity remained constant within experimental errors of 0.47–1.16%, for lengths from 30 to 40 mm; and (iii) a “sloping plateau” region, which could be approximated by the linear function (correlationr = 0.96–0.98) for the 50 mm sample. Theoretical predictions of the experimental dependences of the signal intensity versus sample position in the cavity were calculated with the “modified” and “revised” sine-squared function, and the correlation between observed and theoretically computed dependences is very good. Additionally, the experimental dependence of the signal intensity versus the sample internal diameter and length for cylindrical samples situated at the position in the cavity at which the signal intensity was a maximum was likewise numerically approximated by the surface fitting with the Lorentzian cumulative additive function (correlationr = 0.999). The experimental dependence of the signal intensity versus the sample internal diameter for the given sample length is nonlinear. The samples with internal diameters of 0.7 and 1 mm gave the total maximum of signal intensity for the 40 mm sample, however, the samples with internal diameters of 2, 3 and 4 mm gave the total maximal value of signal intensity, which was identical for both the 30 and 40 mm samples. The experimental dependence of the EPR signal intensity versus the sample volume clearly showed that the samples with identical volumes, however, with different shapes, can give significantly different signal intensities (with differences ca. 200–400%). Then, the comparison of cylindrical samples with identical volumes but different shapes may be a serious source of significant errors in quantitative EPR spectroscopy. Cylindrical samples to be compared should be of identical shape. Accurate and precise positioning of each sample in the microwave cavity is essential.  相似文献

Deep laser holes were drilled in copper sheets using various pulse lengths and environments. By recording the intensity on a photodiode placed under the sample while drilling the holes, we obtained the number of pulses to drill through the sheet as a function of pulse length and energy. The entrance diameter of the holes was successfully predicted using a Gaussian approximation and a material removal fluence threshold of 0.39 J/cm2 for a pulse length of 150 fs. From cross sections of the holes, the morphology of the inside walls was observed and shows an increase in the amount of molten material with pulse length. A transition pulse length is defined as the point at which the laser affected material goes from being mainly vaporized to mainly melted. This transition occurs near ∼10 ps, which corresponds approximately to the electron–phonon relaxation time for copper. PACS 62.20.Mk; 62.25.+g; 79.20.Ds  相似文献

In this paper, the effects of carbon nanotubes (CNT) implantation and sisal fibre size on the electrical properties of sisal fibre-reinforced epoxy composites are reported. For this purpose, the epoxy composites reinforced with CNT-implanted sisal fibre of 5 mm and 10 mm lengths were prepared by hand moulding and samples characterized for their electrical properties, such as dielectric constant (ε′), dielectric dissipation factor (tan δ) and AC conductivity (σac) at different temperatures and frequencies. It was observed that the dielectric constant increases with increase in temperature and decreases with increase in frequency from 500 Hz to 5 KHz. Interestingly, the sample having CNT-implanted sisal fibre of 5 mm length exhibited the highest value of dielectric constant than the one with length 10 mm. This is attributed to the increased surface area of sisal fibre and enhancement of the interfacial polarization. At a constant volume and a length of 5 mm of the fibres, the number of interfaces per unit volume element is high and results in a higher interfacial polarization. The interfaces decrease as the fibre length increases, and therefore, the value of ε′ decreases at 10 mm fibre length. The peak value of the dielectric constant decreases with increasing frequency. A continuous decrease in dissipation factor (tan δ) with increasing frequency for all samples was observed, while at lower temperatures, the values of tan δ remains approximately same. The AC conductivity for 5 mm length sisal epoxy composite and 10 mm length sisal fibre–epoxy composites is higher than that of pure epoxy at all the frequencies.  相似文献

实验研究了装有Pt覆盖的多孔陶瓷的Swiss-Roll燃烧器的燃烧特性,分别得到了3种不同长度的催化剂基底的熄火极限,并测量3种情况下催化剂壁面及催化剂后部空间的温度。实验结果表明,3种情况中,催化剂基底长4.5mm的燃烧器可燃范围最大,所以此长度较适合此Swiss-Roll燃烧器。从温度数据可以看出来,催化剂后部空间存在反应,且受上游催化剂表面反应强度的影响。  相似文献

A novel non-contact fiber optic accelerometer is presented. Two laser beams that have passed through two different lengths of feed fibers are launched to the same moving target. The frequency of each beam is Doppler shifted by movement of the target. The frequency shift of the laser beam corresponds to the velocity of the target at the time of launch. The difference in launching time due to the difference in feed fiber lengths samples the velocities of the target at times spaced by the differential arrival times of the laser beams. Two return passes of the reflected light are also made different so that the light passed through the shorter feed fiber is steered to the longer return fiber by means of a combination of A/4 plate and polarization beam splitter (PBS). This arrangement of equalizing the total paths relieved a stringent requirement of the coherency of the laser. Two reflected light beams are mixed and the beat frequency corresponds to the difference in the Doppler shift frequency at two different times of arrival of the launcher. An accelerometer based upon this principle was constructed and its performance was examined using a sinusoidally vibrating hydrophone as a target. The diagnosis of degenerative changes in human teeth is of general interest because early detections can avoid greater health problems and further weakening effects. Since the wear of teeth determines their stability and lifetime in relation to the physiological load, an ultrasonic survey of any dimensional changes of the enamel layer and especially of the dentin wall thickness may be very helpful. However, an ultrasonographic diagnosis requires first to determine the anisotropic human tooth properties at clinically relevant locations and to simulate wave propagation phenomena in inhomogeneous tooth models with proper dimensions. The first article of a series that provides modular data of mineralized tissues in human teeth at the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) deals with an ultrasonic method for measuring the asymmetry of dimensional characteristics of extracted human teeth and their ultrasonic path lengths (UPL). Heavily attenuating tooth halves were investigated with respect to the symmetry of normal and inclined oppositely directed radial ultrasonic paths. The measured UPLs ranged from 1.2 mm to 4.4 mm. The relative difference in inclined UPLs between the left and the right tooth halves reaches almost 30%. This reveals a large asymmetry. The mean difference of angles that represent fastest path lengths was 2.2+/-8.1 degrees, which indicates large asymmetry and anisotropy. Several aspects, which are required for a proper integration of asymmetric data into models designed for medical element engineering and simulation (MEES), are discussed.  相似文献

The internal flow structures of detonation wave were experimentally analyzed in an optically accessible hollow rotating detonation combustor with multiple chamber lengths. The cylindrical RDC has a glass chamber wall, 20 mm in diameter, which allowed us to capture the combustion self-luminescence. A chamber 70 mm in length was first tested using C2H4O2 and H2–O2 as propellants. Images with a strong self-luminescence region near the bottom were obtained, confirming the small extent of the region where most of the heat release occurs as found in our previous research. Based on the visualization experiments, we tested RDCs with shorter chamber walls of 40 and 20 mm. The detonation wave was also observed in the shorter chambers, and its velocity was not affected by the difference in chamber length. Thrust performance was also maintained compared to the longer chamber, and the short cylindrical RDC had the same specific impulse tendency as the cylindrical (hollow) or annular 70-mm chamber RDC. Finally, we calculated the pressure distributions of various chamber lengths, and found they were also consistent with the measured pressure at the bottom and exit. We concluded that the short-chamber cylindrical RDC with equal length and diameter maintained thrust performance similar to the longer annular RDC, further expanding the potential of compact RDCs.  相似文献

By means of the photo-voltaic effect at a p-n junction the quantum efficiency of the internal photo-electric effect in germanium was measured for the wave lengths of X-rays of 0.56; 0.71; 1.54; 1.93 Å. It was found that an energy of 2.5 eV irrespective of the, wave length, was needed in this region for the production of one electron-hole pair. This value corresponds well with measurements in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum.  相似文献

Many ear canal probes both deliver and measure sound via narrow tubes. This study investigates the effect of the cross-sectional discontinuity at the interface between ear canal models and the connecting tubes of a commercially available otoacoustic emission probe on the "acoustically" estimated cavity lengths. Rigid cavities having the same length but different diameters were produced, and modeled by the finite element method. Cavities with a diameter larger than 8 mm had acoustic lengths that considerably overestimated the real geometry. A length correction was derived, which, in most applications, compensates for the measurement errors emerging from the discontinuity effects.  相似文献

We present a new method for estimating the length density (L(v)) of convoluted tubular structures exhibiting an isotropic distribution. Although the traditional equation L(v)=2Q/A is used, the parameter Q is obtained by considering the collective perimeters of tubular sections. This measurement is converted to a standard model of the structure, assuming that all cross-sections are approximately circular and have an average perimeter similar to that of actual circular cross-sections observed in the same material. The accuracy of this method was tested in eight experiments using hollow macaroni bent into helical shapes. After measuring the length of the macaroni segments, they were boiled and randomly packed into cylindrical volumes along with an aqueous suspension of gelatin and India ink. The solidified blocks were cut into slices 1.0cm thick and 33.2cm(2) in area (A). The total perimeter of the macaroni cross-sections so revealed was stereologically estimated using a test system of straight parallel lines. Given L(v) and the reference volume, the total length of macaroni in each section could be estimated. Additional corrections were made for the changes induced by boiling, and the off-axis position of the thread used to measure length. No statistical difference was observed between the corrected estimated values and the actual lengths. This technique is useful for estimating the length of capillaries, renal tubules, and seminiferous tubules.  相似文献

A Bi(2)O(3)-based erbium-doped fiber (BIEDF) ring laser with a 134 nm tunable range is demonstrated with only 0.2 m of BIEDF as a gain media. The widely tunable range corresponds to the broad amplified spontaneous emission spectrum obtained from BIEDF. The pump power dependence and BIEDF length dependence of fiber laser properties are investigated. The tunable range varies depending on both pump power and BIEDF lengths. A high optical signal-to-noise ratio of over 70 dB for a 120 nm tunable range is also shown.  相似文献

本文基于飞秒激光等离子体丝诱导击穿光谱对土壤重金属Cr元素含量进行了实验研究.利用荧光法对等离子体丝的长度进行测量,给出了在不同焦距聚焦透镜作用下土壤中Cr425.5 nm的谱线强度空间分布,实验给出了Cr元素的定标曲线.实验结果表明,土壤中Cr元素浓度分析测量的相对标准偏差小于5%,土壤中重金属Cr元素的检测极限为7.85 ppm.表明飞秒激光等离子体丝诱导击穿光谱技术在土壤重金属Cr元素含量的定量探测方面是完全可行的.  相似文献
