An FT‐IR kinetic and product study of the Br‐atom‐initiated oxidation of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) has been performed in a large‐volume reaction chamber at 298 K and 1000‐mbar total pressure as a function of the bath gas composition (N2 + O2). In the kinetic investigations using the relative kinetic method, considerable scatter was observed between individual determinations of the rate coefficient, suggesting the possibility of interference from secondary chemistry in the reaction system involving dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) formation. Despite the experimental difficulties, an overall bimolecular rate coefficient for the reaction of Br atoms with DMS under atmospheric conditions at 298 K of ≤1 × 10−13 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 can be deduced. The major sulfur products observed included SO2, CH3SBr, and DMSO. The kinetic observations in combination with the product studies under the conditions employed are consistent with rapid addition of Br atoms to DMS forming an adduct that mainly re‐forms reactants but can also decompose unimolecularly to form CH3SBr and CH3 radicals. The observed formation of DMSO is attributed to reactions of BrO radicals with DMS rather than reaction of the Br–DMS adduct with O2 as has been previously speculated and is thought to be responsible for the variability of the measured rate coefficient. The reaction CH3O2 + Br → BrO + CH3O is postulated as the source of BrO radicals. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 31: 883–893, 1999  相似文献

The purpose of this article was to calculate the structures and energetics of CH3O(H2O)n and CH3S(H2O)n in the gas phase; the maximum number of water molecules that can directly interact with the O of CH3O; and when n is larger, we asked how the CH3O and CH3S moiety of CH3O(H2O)n and CH3S(H2O)n changes and how we can reproduce experimental ΔH 0n−1, n. Using the ab initio closed-shell self-consistent field method with the energy gradient technique, we carried out full geometry optimizations with the MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ for CH3O(H2O)n (n=0, 1, 2, 3) and the MP2/6–31+G(d,p) (for n=5, 6). The structures of CH3S(H2O)n (n=0, 1, 2, 3) were fully optimized using MP2/6–31++G(2d,2p). It is predicted that the CH3O(H2O)6 does not exist. We also performed vibrational analysis for all clusters [except CH3O(H2O)6] at the optimized structures to confirm that all vibrational frequencies are real. Those clusters have all real vibrational frequencies and correspond to equilibrium structures. The results show that the above maximum number of water molecules for CH3O is five in the gas phase. For CH3O(H2O)n, when n becomes larger, the C—O bond length becomes longer, the C—H bond lengths become smaller, the HCO bond angles become smaller, the charge on the hydrogen of CH3 becomes more positive, and these values of CH3O(H2O)n approach the corresponding values of CH3OH with the n increment. The C—O bond length of CH3O(H2O)3 is longer than the C—O bond length of CH3O in the gas phase by 0.044 Å at the MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ level of theory. The structure of the CH3S moiety in CH3S(H2O)n does not change with the n increment. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Comput Chem 20: 1138–1144, 1999  相似文献

Direct conversion of methane to chemical feedstocks such as methanol under mild conditions is a challenging but ideal solution for utilization of methane. Pd1O4 single‐sites anchored on the internal surface of micropores of a microporous silicate exhibit high selectivity and activity in transforming CH4 to CH3OH at 50–95 °C in aqueous phase through partial oxidation of CH4 with H2O2. The selectivity for methanol production remains at 86.4 %, while the activity for methanol production at 95 °C is about 2.78 molecules per Pd1O4 site per second when 2.0 wt % CuO is used as a co‐catalyst with the Pd1O4@ZSM‐5. Thermodynamic calculations suggest that the reaction toward methanol production is highly favorable compared to formation of a byproduct, methyl peroxide.  相似文献

The relative rate technique has been used to measure the hydroxyl radical (OH) reaction rate constant of 2‐propoxyethanol (2PEOH, CH3CH2CH2OCH2CH2(OH)). 2PEOH reacts with OH with a bimolecular rate constant of (21.4 ± 6.0) × 10−12 cm3molecule−1s−1 at 297 ± 3 K and 1 atm total pressure, which is a little larger than previously reported [1]. Assuming an average OH concentration of 1 × 106 molecules cm−3, an atmospheric lifetime of 13 h is calculated for 2PEOH. In order to more clearly define this hydroxy ether's atmospheric reaction mechanism, an investigation into the OH + 2PEOH reaction products was also conducted. The OH + 2PEOH reaction products and yields observed were: propyl formate (PF, 47 ± 2%, CH3CH2CH2OC(O)H), 2 propoxyethanal (CH3CH2CH2OCH2C(O)H 15 ± 1%), and 2‐ethyl‐1,3‐dioxolane (5.4 ± 0.4%). The 2PEOH reaction mechanism is discussed in light of current understanding of oxygenated hydrocarbon atmospheric chemistry. The findings reported here can be related to other structurally similar alcohols and may impact regulatory tools such as ground‐level ozone‐forming potential calculations (incremental reactivity) [2]. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A low‐pressure discharge‐flow system equipped with laser‐induced fluorescence (LIF) detection of NO2 and resonance‐fluorescence detection of OH has been employed to study the self reactions CH2ClO2 + CH2ClO2 → products (1) and CHCl2O2 + CHCl2O2 → products (2), at T = 298 K and P = 1–3 Torr. Possible secondary reactions involving alkoxy radicals are identified. We report the phenomenological rate constants (kobs) k1obs = (4.1 ± 0.2) × 10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 k2obs = (8.6 ± 0.2) × 10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 and the rate constants derived from modelling the decay profiles for both peroxy radical systems, which takes into account the proposed secondary chemistry involving alkoxy radicals k1 = (3.3 ± 0.7) × 10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 k2 = (7.0 ± 1.8) × 10−12 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 A possible mechanism for these self reactions is proposed and QRRK calculations are performed for reactions (1), (2) and the self‐reaction of CH3O2, CH3O2 + CH3O2 → products (3). These calculations, although only semiquantitative, go some way to explaining why both k1 and k2 are a factor of ten larger than k3 and why, as suggested by the products of reaction (1) and (2), it seems that the favored reaction pathway is different from that followed by reaction (3). The atmospheric fate of the chlorinated peroxy species, and hence the impact of their precursors (CH3Cl and CH2Cl2), in the troposphere are briefly discussed. HC(O)Cl is identified as a potentially important reservoir species produced from the photooxidation of these precursors. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 31: 433–444, 1999  相似文献

Crystals of brucinium 3,5‐dinitrobenzoate methanol solvate, C23H27N2O4+·C7H3N2O6·CH3OH, (I), brucinium 3,5‐dinitrobenzoate methanol disolvate, C23H27N2O4+·C7H3N2O6·2CH3OH, (II), and brucinium 3,5‐dinitrobenzoate trihydrate, C23H27N2O4+·C7H3N2O6·3H2O, (III), were obtained from methanol [for (I) and (II)] or ethanol solutions [for (III)]. The brucinium cations and 3,5‐dinitrobenzoate anions are linked by ionic N—H+⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystals of (I), (II) and (III), the brucinium cations exhibit different modes of packing, viz. corrugated ribbons, pillars and corrugated monolayer sheets, respectively. While in (III), the amide O atom of the brucinium cation participates in O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, in which water molecules are the donors, in (I) and (II), the amide O atom of the brucinium cation is involved in weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and other brucinium cations are the donors.  相似文献

The rate coefficient for the reaction of the peroxypropionyl radical (C2H5C(O)O2) with NO was measured with a laminar flow reactor over the temperature range 226–406 K. The C2H5C(O)O2 reactant was monitored with chemical ionization mass spectrometry. The measured rate coefficients are k(T) = (6.7 ± 1.7) × 10−12 exp{(340 ± 80)/T} cm3 molecule−1 s−1 and k(298 K) = (2.1 ± 0.2) × 10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1. Our results are comparable to recommended rate coefficients for the analogous CH3C(O)O2 + NO reaction. Heterogeneous effects, pressure dependence, and concentration gradients inside the flow reactor are examined. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet: 31: 221–228, 1999  相似文献

Although integral to remote marine atmospheric sulfur chemistry, the reaction between methylsulfinyl radical (CH3SO) and ozone poses challenges to theoretical treatments. The lone theoretical study on this reaction reported an unphysically large barrier of 66 kcal mol−1 for abstraction of an oxygen atom from O3 by CH3SO. Herein, we demonstrate that this result stems from improper use of MP2 with a single-reference, unrestricted Hartree-Fock (UHF) wavefunction. We characterized the potential energy surface using density functional theory (DFT), as well as multireference methodologies employing a complete active-space self-consistent field (CASSCF) reference. Our DFT PES shows, in contrast to previous work, that the reaction proceeds by forming an addition adduct [CH3S(O3)O] in a deep potential well of 37 kcal mol−1. An O−O bond of this adduct dissociates via a flat, low barrier of 1 kcal mol−1 to give CH3SO2+O2. The multireference computations show that the initial addition of CH3SO+O3 is barrierless. These results provide a more physically intuitive and accurate picture of this reaction than the previous theoretical study. In addition, our results imply that the CH3SO2 formed in this reaction can readily decompose to give SO2 as a major product, in alignment with the literature on CH3SO reactions.  相似文献

The reactions of methanol with and without O2 were studied on a flat, highly crystalline CeO2(100) thin‐film surface with ambient pressure XPS. In the absence of O2, the ambient pressure XPS results indicate that in both low‐pressure (≤10−5 Torr) and high‐pressure regimes (≥10−1 Torr), the dominant surface species is methoxy. Methanol decomposition substantially reduces the ceria and CX deposit build‐up on the surface. When O2 is present, CX does not accumulate on the surface and the dominant surface species is different in the low‐pressure and high‐pressure regimes. Methoxy dominates at low pressure, while formate dominates at the higher pressure. The type of surface species appears to be related to the ability of O2 to fully oxidize the ceria surface during the methanol reaction.  相似文献

New rate constant determinations for the reactions CH3 + HO2 → CH3O + OH (1) CH3 + HO2 → CH4 + O2 (2) CH3 + O2 → CH2O + OH (3) were made at 1000 K by fitting species profiles from high‐pressure flow reactor experiments on moist CO oxidation perturbed with methane. These reactions are important steps in the intermediate‐temperature burnout of hydrocarbon pollutants, especially at super‐atmospheric pressure. The experiments used in the fit were selected to minimize the uncertainty in the determinations. These uncertainties were estimated using model sensitivity coefficients, derived for time‐shifted flow reactor experiments, along with literature uncertainties for the unfitted rate constants. The experimental optimization procedure significantly reduced the uncertainties in each of these rate constants over the current literature values. The new rate constants and their uncertainties were determined to be, at 1000 K: k1 = 1.48(10)13 cm3 mol−1 s−1 (UF = 2.24) k2 = 3.16(10)12 cm3 mol−1 s−1 (UF = 2.89) k3 = 2.36(10)8 cm3 mol−1 s−1 (UF = 4.23) There are no direct and few indirect measurements of reactions ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) in the literature. There are few measurements of reaction ( 3 ) near 1000 K. These results therefore represent an important refinement to radical oxidation chemistry of significance to methane and higher alkane oxidation. The model sensitivity analysis used in the experimental design was also used to characterize the mechanistic dependence of the new rate constant values. Linear sensitivities of the fitted rate constants to the unfitted rate constants were given. The sensitivity analysis was used to show that the determinations above are primarily dependent on the rate constants chosen for the reactions CH3 + CH3 + M → C2H6 + M and CH2O + HO2 → HCO + H2O2. Uncertainties in the rate constants of these two reactions are the primary contributors to the uncertainty factors given above. Further reductions in the uncertainties of these kinetics would lead to significant reductions in the uncertainties in our determinations of k1, k2, and k3. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The stability of oxygen anions and the hydrogen abstraction from methane on a reduced SnO2 (110) crystal surface have been studied theoretically using a point-charge model. The geometric and electronic structures for the present molecules are calculated by means of a hybrid Hartree–Fock/density functional method at the B3LYP/6-311+G(3df, 3pd) level of theory. The calculations of the energies on the point-charge model are performed using these optimized geometries. It is found that a low concentration of the active oxygen species O and O2 is expected on the reduced SnO2 surface. The activation energies for the abstraction of hydrogen atom from methane on the reduced SnO2 surface are obtained: 12 kcal/mol for O species and more than 48 kcal/mol for O2 species, indicating that O species on the surface is the main active center for the dissociation of a C(SINGLE BOND)H bond of methane, which is in agreement with the other oxide catalysts. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The kinetics of reactions of the tertiary β‐brominated peroxy radical BrC(CH3)2C(CH3)2O2 (2‐bromo‐1,1,2‐trimethylpropylperoxy) have been studied using the laser flash photolysis technique, photolysing HBr at 248 nm in the presence of O2 and 2,3‐dimethylbut‐2‐ene. At room temperature, a rate constant of (2.0 ± 0.8) × 10−14 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 was determined for the BrC(CH3)2C(CH3)2O2 self‐reaction. The reaction of BrC(CH3)2C(CH3)2O2 with HO2 was investigated in the temperature range 306–393 K, yielding the following Arrhenius expression: k(BrC(CH3)2C(CH3)2O2 + HO2) = (2.04 ± 0.25) × 10−12 exp[(501 ± 36)K/T] cm3 molecule−1 s−1, giving by extrapolation (1.10 ± 0.13) × 10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 at 298 K. These results confirm the enhancement of the peroxy radical self‐reaction reactivity upon β‐substitution, which is similar for Br and OH substituents. In contrast, no significant effect of substituent has been observed on the rate constant for the reactions of peroxy radicals with HO2. The global uncertainty factors on rate constants are equal to nearly 2 for the self‐reaction and to 1.35 for the reaction with HO2. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Density functional theory calculations were carried out to investigate the reaction mechanism of methanol oxidation mediated by [(bpg)FeIVO]+ ( A ). Two models (CH3CN‐bound ferryl model B and CH3OH‐bound ferryl model C ) were also studied in this work to probe ligand effect. Mechanistically, both direct and concerted hydrogen transfer (DHT and CHT) pathways were explored. It is found that the initial step of methanol oxidation by A is C? H bond activation via a DHT pathway. Addition of different equatorial ligands has considerable influence on the reaction mechanisms. Methanol oxidation mediated by B commences via O? H bond activation; in sharp contrast, the oxidation mediated by C stems from C? H bond activation. Frontier molecular orbital analysis showed that the initial C? H bond activation by all these model complexes follows a hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) mechanism, whereas O? H bond activation proceeds via an HAT or proton transfer. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The crystal structures of rare‐earth diaryl‐ or dialkylphosphate derivatives are poorly explored. Crystals of bis[bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)phosphato‐κO ]chloridotetrakis(methanol‐κO )neodymium methanol disolvate, [Nd(C24H34O4P)Cl(CH4O)4]·2CH3OH, (1), and of the lutetium, [Lu(C24H34O4P)Cl(CH4O)4]·2CH3OH, (2), and yttrium, [Y(C24H34O4P)Cl(CH4O)4]·2CH3OH, (3), analogues have been obtained by reactions between lithium bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)phosphate and LnCl3(H2O)6 (in a 2:1 ratio) in methanol. Compounds (1)–(3) crystallize in the C 2/c space group. Their crystal structures are isomorphous. The molecule possesses C 2 symmetry with a twofold crystallographic axis passing through the Ln and Cl atoms. The bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)phosphate ligands all display a κ1O‐monodentate coordination mode. The coordination polyhedron for the metal atom [coordination number (CN) = 7] is a distorted pentagonal bipyramid. Each [Ln{O2P(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3)2}2Cl(CH3OH)4] molecular unit exhibits two intramolecular O—H…O hydrogen bonds, forming six‐membered rings, and two intramolecular O—H…Cl interactions, forming four‐membered rings. Intermolecular O—H…O hydrogen bonds connect each unit via four noncoordinating methanol molecules with four other units, forming a two‐dimensional hydrogen‐bond network. Crystals of bis[bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)phosphato‐κO ]tetrakis(methanol‐κO )(nitrato‐κ2O ,O ′)neodymium methanol disolvate, [Nd(C24H34O4P)(NO3)(CH4O)4]·2CH3OH, (4), have been obtained in an analogous manner from NdCl3(H2O)6. Compound (4) also crystalizes in the C 2/c space group. Its crystal structure is similar to those of (1)–(3). The κ2O ,O ′‐bidentate nitrate anion is disordered over a twofold axis, being located nearly on it. Half of the molecule is crystallographically unique (CNNd = 8). Unlike (1)–(3), complex (4) exhibits disorder of all three methanol molecules, one isopropyl group of the phosphate ligand and the NO3 ligand. The structure of (4) displays intra‐ and intermolecular O—H…O hydrogen bonds similar to those in (1)–(3). Compounds (1)–(4) represent the first reported mononuclear bis[bis(diaryl/dialkyl)phosphate] rare‐earth complexes.  相似文献

The methanol selectivity in partial oxidation of methane in microwave plasma reactors is improved by using H2O in the presence or absence of O2. The use of H2O2 as an oxygen source has a similar effect, although it is less effective than H2O. The addition of H2 to the system has little effect on selectivity. Two pathways are suggested for the formation of methanol. One involves a CH3O* or CH3O2 * intermediate, while the other involves a direct combination of CH3 * and OH* radicals. The first pathway is favored in the presence of O2 while the latter is favored in the presence of H2O or H2O2. The best results are obtained for the CH4-O2-H2O system when methanol is formed through both pathways.  相似文献

(2‐Hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium silicate, Si8O20[N(CH3)3(C2H4OH)]8·nH2O, was allowed to react with zirconium tetrakis(2,4‐pentanedionate) in methanol, resulting in gel formation. The gels were heat‐treated at 650–1000 °C in air. The product at 650 °C showed a specific surface area of 500 m2 g−1, and the average pore diameter was ca 4.3 nm, indicating the formation of a thermally stable mesoporous body. Gels with the same composition were also prepared by sol–gel processing using tetraethoxysilane as a silica source. The specific surface area of the product yielded by heating the gels at 650 °C was 425 m2 g−1 and the average pore diameter was ca 2.8 nm, which were lower than those of the product from the gels prepared with (2‐hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium silicate. These differences have been attributed to the difference in nanostructure of the gels, caused by the structure of the silica sources and their polymerization behaviour. The mechanism of the OH‐initiated oxidation of isoprene in the presence of NO and O2 has been investigated using a discharge‐flow system at 298 K and 2 torr total pressure. OH radical concentration profiles were measured using laser‐induced fluorescence as a function of reaction time. The rate constant for the reaction of OH + isoprene was measured to be (1.10 ± 0.05) × 10−10 cm3 mol−1 s−1. In the presence of NO and O2, regeneration of OH radicals by the reaction of isoprene‐based peroxy radicals with NO was measured and compared to simulations of the kinetics of this system. The results of these experiments are consistent with an overall rate constant of 9 × 10−12 cm3 mol−1 mol−1 (with an uncertainty factor of 2) for the reaction of isoprene‐based hydroxyalkyl peroxy radicals with NO. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This paper demonstrated using polyethylenimine (PEI)‐functionalized graphene (Gr) incorporating tin oxide (SnO2) hybrid nanocomposite as a platform for nonenzymatic H2O2 electrochemical sensor. The results of UV‐vis spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the simultaneous formation of tin oxide (SnO2) nanocomposite and reduction of graphene oxide (GO). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images showed a uniform distribution of nanometer‐sized tin oxide nanoparticles on the grapheme sheets, which could be achieved using stannous chloride (SnCl2) complex instead of tin oxide as precursor. The electrochemical measurements, including cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometric performance (I‐t), showed that the PEI‐functionalized Gr supported SnO2 (SnO2‐PEI‐Gr) exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the H2O2. The corresponding calibration curve of the current response showed a linear detection range of 9×10−6∼1.64×10−3 mol L−1, while the limit of detection was estimated to be 1×10−6 mol L−1. Electrochemical studies indicated that SnO2 and functionalized Gr worked synergistically for the detection of H2O2.  相似文献

In isomorphous crystals of brucinium 4‐nitrobenzoate methanol solvate, C23H27N2O4+·C7H4NO4·CH3OH, and brucinium 4‐nitrobenzoate dihydrate, C23H27N2O4+·C7H4NO4·2H2O, the brucinium cations form reverse corrugated layers, in which the amine N and amide O atoms of the brucinium cations are located in the grooves and at convex points of the layer surface, respectively. Tetradentate open-chain Schiff base N2O2-ligands of acacen, benacen or salen type and fluoride anions F? coordinate to the iron(III) central atom in methanol forming the complexes [Fe(N2O2)(CH3OH)F]. The complexes do not undergo spontaneous redox changes when kept in the dark. Their irradiation into intraligand or ligand-to-metal charge transfer bands causes the photoreduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II) associated with oxidation of metanol to its radical CH2OH. The final products of the primary photoredox and secondary dark redox processes, Fe(II) and CH2O, are formed in a 2:1 molar ratio. The efficiency of the axial methanol ligand photooxidation is strongly wavelength dependent and influenced by the peripheral groups R of the tetradentate ligands  相似文献
