A two dimensional antiferromagnetic spin-1 Ising model with negative next- nearest neighbour interaction (J 2 <0) and under an external magnetic field is investigated by two methods: The mean-field theory and Finite-Size-Scaling based on transfer matrix (TMFSS) calculations. The ground state diagrams exhibit several new phases including frustrated ones. At finite temperature we obtain by these two methods quite rich phase diagrams, with several multicritical points. While Mean field approximation yields phase diagrams which are sometimes even qualitatively incorrect, accurate results are obtained from transfer matrix finite size scaling calculations. For a certain range of interaction parameters, the model is shown to violate the ordinary universality hypothesis. The phase diagrams of a two-sublattice Ising metamagnet at finite temperature in a mixed longitudinal field and a transverse magnetic field are investigated by the use of an effective-field theory (EFT) with correlations. In addition to the second-order transition lines, the first-order transition lines are also presented in the phase diagrams, since the Gibbs free energy can be calculated numerically. The results show that there is no fourth-order critical line in the phase diagrams given by using EFT as found by using mean-field theory (MFT). The tricritical lines and their projection in the thx plane obtained by using EFT are also quite different from those by using MFT. Only one type of phase diagram is obtained by using EFT while three kinds of phase diagrams are obtained by using MFT, which indicates that only the first kind of phase diagrams obtained by using MFT is reliable. Furthermore, it is shown that the region of first-order transitions increases as the transverse magnetic field hx decreases.  相似文献

We study, within a mean-field approach, the stationary states of the kinetic Blume–Emery–Griffiths model with repulsive biquadratic coupling under the presence of a time-varying (sinusoidal) magnetic field. We employ the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics to construct set of dynamic equations of motion. The behavior of the time dependence of the order parameters and the behavior of the average order parameters in a period, which is also called the dynamic order parameters, as functions of the reduced temperature are investigated. The dynamic phase transition points are calculated and phase diagrams are presented in the reduced magnetic field amplitude and reduced temperature plane. The dynamical transition from one regime to the other can be of first- or second order depending on the region in the phase diagram. According to the values of the crystal field interaction or single-ion anisotropy constant and biquadratic exchange constant, we find 20 fundamental types of phase diagrams which exhibit many dynamic critical points, such as tricritical points, zero-temperature critical points, double critical end points, critical end point, triple point and multicritical point. Moreover, besides a disordered and ordered phases, seven coexistence phase regions exist in the system.  相似文献

The phase diagrams and magnetization curves of a two-sublattice Ising metamagnet at finite temperature with longitudinal crystal field H are investigated by the use of an effective-field theory (EFT) with correlations. In addition to the second-order transition lines, the first-order transition lines are also presented, since a method to calculate the Gibbs free energy numerically at finite temperature within EFT is found in this work. The results show that there is no fourth-order critical point or reentrant phenomenon in the phase diagrams given by using EFT as found by using mean-field theory (MFT).  相似文献

We have investigated the ground state phase diagram of the 1D AF spin- Heisenberg model with the staggered Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction in an external uniform magnetic field H. We have used the exact diagonalization technique. In the absence of the uniform magnetic field (H=0), we have shown that the DM interaction induces a staggered chiral phase. The staggered chiral phase remains stable even in the presence of the uniform magnetic field. We have identified that the ground state phase diagram consists of four Luttinger liquid, staggered chiral, spin-flop, and ferromagnetic phases.  相似文献

By using a mean-field approximation (MFA) and Monte-Carlo (MC) simulations, we have studied the effect on the phase diagrams of mixed spins ( and S =1) in the Ashkin-Teller model (ATM) on a hypercubic lattice. By varying the strength describing the four spin interaction and the single ion potential, we have obtained by these two methods quite rich phase diagrams with several multicritical points. This model exhibits a new partially ordered phase which does not exist neither in the spin-1/2 ATM nor in the spin-1 ATM. While MFA yields phase diagrams which are sometimes qualitatively incorrect, accurate results are obtained from MC simulations. From the critical exponents which have been calculated using finite-size scaling ideas, we have shown that all phase transitions are Ising-like except for the paramagnetic-Baxter critical surface on which the critical exponents vary continuously, by varying only the strength of the coupling interaction independently of the value of the single ion potential. The ground-state magnetic properties of the spin-2 transverse Ising model with a longitudinal crystal field are studied within the framework of mean-field theory (MFT) and effective-field theory (EFT), respectively. The phase diagrams and magnetization curves are examined in detail. It is found that the system exhibits a tricritical behavior in the ground-state phase diagrams. Some interesting phenomena have been found, especially the first-order phase transition from one ordered phase to the other ordered phase, which is due to the high spin. The spin correlation has important effect on the magnetic properties of the system. We also find that the ground-state phase diagrams of the spin-2 transverse Ising model are very different from those of the spin-3/2 transverse Ising model.  相似文献

The zero temperature phase diagram of a one-dimensional ferromagnet with cubic single ion anisotropy in an external magnetic field is studied. The mean-field approximation and the density-matrix renormalization group method are applied. Two phases at finite magnetic fields are identified: a canted phase with spontaneously broken symmetry and a phase with magnetization along the magnetic field. Both methods predict that the canted phase exists even for the single-ion anisotropy strong enough to destroy the magnetic order at zero magnetic field. In contrast to the mean-field theory, the density-matrix renormalization group predicts a reentrant behavior for the model. The character of the phase transition at finite magnetic field has also been considered and the critical index has been found. Received 9 May 2000 and Received in final form 5 July 2000  相似文献

With the help of the Ginzburg–Landau theory the temperature–magnetic field phase diagrams of Heusler alloys Ni–Mn–Ga are theoretically investigated. The influence of the parameters of the magnetoelastic constants and elastic moduli on the phase diagrams are discussed. It is shown that with the determined combination of the phenomenological parameters, the critical magnetic field for the phase transition appears. The theoretically predicted value of the critical magnetic field is possible to be achieved in the experiment with the help of modern magnetic field sources.  相似文献

The energy gap of the 1D AF-Heisenberg model in the presence of both uniform (H) and staggered (h) magnetic fields is investigated using the exact diagonalization technique. The opening of the gap in the presence of a staggered field is found to scale with hν, where ν=ν(H) is the critical exponent, and depends on the uniform field. With respect to the range of the staggered magnetic field, two regimes are identified through which the dependence of the real critical exponent ν(H) on H can be calculated numerically. Our numerical results are in good agreement with the results obtained by other theoretical approaches.  相似文献

The phase diagrams of the spin-1 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field is investigated by using an effective-field theory (EFT). We give a method to calculate the Gibbs free energy numerically at finite temperature within the EFT. The first-order transition lines are obtained by comparing the Gibbs free energy. The phase diagrams and the Gibbs free energy are also compared with those given using the mean-field theory (MFT).  相似文献

The phase diagrams and compensation behaviors of mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Blume-Capel model in a trimodal magnetic field are investigated in the framework of the effective field theory on simple cubic lattice. The change of negative crystal field and trimodal concentration can affect the TCP, the second-order phase and the magnetic field degeneration at ground state in T-H space. In T-D space, the trajectory of the TCP takes on the acre curve and there exist the two TCPs under certain condition. In addition to giving one or two compensation temperature points in M-T space, the mixed spin Blume-Capel model also provides one or two novel compensation magnetic field points in M-H space. Some results are not revealed in previous works.  相似文献

Within mean field approximation we investigate the phase diagrams of magnetic fluids in presence of a magnetic field. In a finite field the magnetic phase transition is absent, but instead a line of first order liquid-liquid transitions ending in a critical point occurs for a magnetic interaction, which is sufficiently strong. Varying the magnetic field these critical points extend from the tricritical point at H=0 to a critical endpoint. For a fluid with Ising spins we calculate the critical lines and several tricritical exponents analytically. For Heisenberg fluids we obtain the phase diagrams from a numerical solution of the mean field equations of state. Received 20 March 1998  相似文献

We extend our recent paper [M. Keskin, O. Canko, M. Erta?, J. Exp. Theor. Phys. (Sov. Phys. JETP) 105 (2007) 1190.] to present a study, within a mean-field approach, the stationary states of the kinetic spin-2 Blume–Emery–Griffiths model in the presence of a time-dependent oscillating magnetic field by using the Glauber-type of stochastic dynamics. We found 20 fundamental types of dynamic phase diagrams where exhibit more complex and richer phase diagrams than our recent paper. Especially, the obtained dynamic phase diagrams show the dynamic triple, quadruple and dynamic double critical end points besides dynamic tricritical points that depending on interaction parameters. The phase diagrams also exhibit a disordered (d) and the ferromagnetic-2 (f2) phases, and the f2+d, f2+fq, fq+d, f2+f1+fq and f2+fq+d, where f1 are fq the ferromagnetic-1 and ferroquadrupolar or simply quadrupolar phases respectively, coexistence phase regions that strongly depend on interaction parameters.  相似文献

We consider a spherical uniaxial antiferromagnetic particle in the presence of an external magnetic field perpendicular to its easy axis. The model is described by a classical Heisenberg Hamiltonian including a single-ion uniaxial anisotropy, where the magnetic moments of the particle are represented by continuous spin vectors. We employ mean-field calculations and Monte Carlo simulations to determine the phase diagram of the system. The phase diagram in the plane field versus temperature is obtained for particles with radii ranging from three up to twelve spacing lattice units. We have seen that a particle with more than nine shells behaves as a true thermodynamic system. We find the explicit dependence of the zero temperature critical field and the Néel temperature on the diameter of the particle. At low temperatures, we have also shown that, for particles with three or more shells, the critical field follows a T2 law, which is in agreement with the predictions of the spin-wave theory, when the field is perpendicular to the easy axis.  相似文献

We present a study, within a mean-field approach, of the kinetics of a mixed ferrimagnetic model on a square lattice in which two interpenetrating square sublattices have spins that can take two values, , alternated with spins that can take the four values, . We use the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics to describe the time evolution of the system with a crystal-field interaction in the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field. The nature (continuous and discontinuous) of transition is characterized by studying the thermal behaviors of average order parameters in a period. The dynamic phase transition points are obtained and the phase diagrams are presented in the reduced magnetic field amplitude (h) and reduced temperature (T) plane, and in the reduced temperature and interaction parameter planes, namely in the (h, T) and (d, T) planes, d is the reduced crystal-field interaction. The phase diagrams always exhibit a tricritical point in (h, T) plane, but do not exhibit in the (d, T) plane for low values of h. The dynamic multicritical point or dynamic critical end point exist in the (d, T) plane for low values of h. Moreover, phase diagrams contain paramagnetic (p), ferromagnetic (f), ferrimagnetic (i) phases, two coexistence or mixed phase regions, (f+p) and (i+p), that strongly depend on interaction parameters.  相似文献

We present phase diagrams for a nonequilibrium mixed spin-1/2 and spin-2 Ising ferrimagnetic system on a square lattice in the presence of a time dependent oscillating external magnetic field. We employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the mean-field dynamical equations. The time variation of the average magnetizations and the thermal behavior of the dynamic magnetizations are investigated, extensively. The nature (continuous or discontinuous) of the transitions is characterized by studying the thermal behaviors of the dynamic magnetizations. The dynamic phase transition points are obtained and the phase diagrams are presented in two different planes. Phase diagrams contain paramagnetic (p) and ferrimagnetic (i) phases, and one coexistence or mixed phase region, namely the i+p, that strongly depend on interaction parameters. The system exhibits the dynamic tricritical point and the reentrant behaviors.  相似文献

Phase diagrams and magnetization curves of a diluted spin-3/2 transverse Ising model in a random field on honeycomb lattices are investigated by the use of an effective-field theory with correlations. The tricritical point is found in the system, in contrast to the corresponding spin-1/2 Ising counterpart. The possible reentrant phenomena displayed by the system due to the competition effects that occur for appropriate ranges of the random and transverse fields are investigated.  相似文献

By introducing boson operators, a quantum spherical XY model in the presence of a random field has been studied by the coherent state path integral approach. The phase diagram is obtained, and the effects of the random-field fluctuations on the possibilities of the existence of a ferromagnetic phase are discussed. At the critical point, , the order parameter M describing the ordered ferromagnetic phase disappears as .Since the model is equivalent to a Bose system, we also show that the phase transition at zero temperature between the superfluid and the disordered Mott insulator phases occurs at the chemical potential , where J0 is the strength of the exchange interaction. As the temperature T goes to zero, the asymptotic behavior of the entropy and the specific heat are and , respectively. Received: 20 May 1997 / Accepted: 20 October 1997  相似文献

We present a field-theoretic renormalization group calculation in two loop order for classical O(N)-models with an inverse square interaction in the vicinity of their lower critical dimensionality one. The magnetic susceptibility at low temperatures is shown to diverge like with a=(N-2)/(N-1) and . From a comparison with the exactly solvable Haldane-Shastry model we find that the same temperature dependence applies also to ferromagnetic quantum spin chains.
