Laser surface melting of high chrome steels was achieved by a 5 kW continuous wave CO2 laser. The microstructure of the laser surface-melted steels was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry, and the hardness profiles were determined by a Vickers hardness tester. The corrosion behavior in 3.5% NaCl solution was studied by electrochemical corrosion equipment. The large carbides of high chrome steels are completely dissolved and ultrafine dendrites of austenite with submicroscopic M23C6 carbides precipitation are formed in the melted zone. The austenite in the melted zone has a high tempering stability. The corrosion resistance of the laser surface-melted steels is significantly improved due to the dissolution of carbides and the increase of the alloying elements in the solid solution as well as the large amount of austenite. 相似文献

Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings with different C contents were deposited on Si (1 0 0) and high speed steel (W18Cr4V) substrates by closed-field unbalanced reactive magnetron sputtering in the mixture of argon, nitrogen and acetylene gases. These films were subsequently characterized ex situ in terms of their microstructures by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), their nanohardness/elastic modulus and facture toughness by nano-indention and Vickers indentation methods, and their surface morphology using atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results indicated that, in the studied composition range, the deposited Ti-B-C-N coatings exhibit nanocomposite based on TiN nanocrystallites. When the C2H2 flow rate is small, incorporation of small amount of C promoted crystallization of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings, which resulted in increase of nano-grain size and mechanical properties of coatings. A maximum grain size of about 8 nm was found at a C2H2 flux rate of 1 sccm. However, the hardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness values were not consistent with the grain size. They got to their maximum of 35.7 GPa, 363.1 GPa and 2.46 MPa m1/2, respectively, at a C2H2 flow rate of 2 sccm (corresponding to about 6 nm in nano-grain size). Further increase of C content dramatically decreased not only grain size but also the mechanical properties of coatings. The presently deposited Ti-B-C-N coatings had a smooth surface. CrN, TiCN and TiAlN coatings were deposited on WC cemented carbide disks using enhanced cathodic arc magnetron sputtering and their topographies and structures were observed and analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The friction and wear properties of CrN, TiCN and TiAlN coatings sliding against SiC balls in water were investigated and compared synthetically using ball-on-disk tribometer. The results showed that the CrN/SiC tribopairs showed the lowest friction coefficient of 0.076, while the TiCN/SiC tribopairs displayed the highest friction coefficient of 0.264. For the CrN/SiC tribopairs the specific wear rate of CrN coatings was lowest while that of SiC balls became highest. But for the TiAlN(TiCN)/SiC tribopairs, the specific wear rate of TiAlN coatings was highest while that of SiC balls for the TiCN/SiC tribopairs became lowest. This indicated that the friction and wear behaviors of nitride coatings/SiC balls tribo-systems in water were more strongly influenced by the anti-oxidative ability of tribomaterials in water than by their mechanical properties. 相似文献

Surface modification of AISI316 stainless steel by laser melting was investigated experimentally using 2 and 4 kW laser power emitted from a continuous wave CO2 laser at different specimen scanning speeds ranged from 300 to 1500 mm/min. Also, an investigation is reported of the introduction of carbon into the same material by means of laser surface alloying, which involves pre-coating the specimen surfaces with graphite powder followed by laser melting. The aim of these treatments is to enhance corrosion resistance by the rapid solidification associated with laser melting and also to increase surface hardness without affecting the bulk properties by increasing the carbon concentration near the surface. Different metallurgical techniques such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the microstructure of the treated zone. The microstructures of the laser melted zones exhibited a dendritic morphology with a very fine scale with a slight increase in hardness from 200 to 230 Hv. However, the laser alloyed samples with carbon showed microstructure consisting of γ dendrite surrounded by a network of eutectic structures (γ+carbide). A significant increase in hardness from 200 to 500 Hv is obtained. Corrosion resistance was improved after laser melting, especially in the samples processed at high laser power (4 kW). There was shift in Icorr and Ecorr toward more noble values and a lower passive current density than that of the untreated materials. These improvements in corrosion resistance were attributed to the fine and homogeneous dendritic structure, which was found throughout the melted zones. The corrosion resistance of the carburized sample was lower than the laser melted sample. 相似文献

Laser metal deposition (LMD) with a filler has been demonstrated to be an effective method for additive manufacturing because of its high material deposition efficiency, improved surface quality, reduced material wastage, and cleaner process environment without metal dust pollution. In this study, single beads and samples with ten layers were successfully deposited on a 316 L stainless steel surface under optimized conditions using a 4000 W continuous wave fibre laser and an arc welding machine. The results showed that satisfactory layered samples with a large deposition height and smooth side surface could be achieved under appropriate parameters. The uniform structures had fine cellular and network austenite grains with good metallurgical bonding between layers, showing an austenite solidification mode. Precipitated ferrite at the grain boundaries showed a subgrain structure with fine uniform grain size. A higher microhardness (205–226 HV) was detected in the middle of the deposition area, while the tensile strength of the 50 layer sample reached 669 MPa. In addition, ductile fracturing was proven by the emergence of obvious dimples at the fracture surface. 相似文献

The plastic deformation behavior of 6061-T6 alloy which was subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD) at high strain rates during laser shock processing (LSP) was researched. In LSP-treated materials, the near surface microstructural change was examined by TEM and fracture surfaces after tensile testing were examined by SEM. An increase in strength of metallic materials brings about the decrease in ductility. In this study, the results showed that LSP-treated 6061-T6 alloy exhibited both high strength and high ductility. TEM observation showed that stacking fault (SF) ribbon enlarged, deformation twins formed and twin boundary increased in LSP-treated 6061-T6 alloy. This observation was an indication of stacking fault energy (SFE) decrease. Work hardening capability was recovered after LSP impacts. 相似文献

The effects of laser processing parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of selective laser-melted magnesium were investigated. The results show that the microstructure characteristics of the laser-melted samples are dependent on the grain size of SLM magnesium. The grains in the molten zone coarsen as the laser energy density increases. In addition, the average hardness values of the molten zone decreases significantly with an increase of the laser energy densities and then decreased slowly at a relatively high laser energy density irrespective of mode of irradiation. The hardness value was obtained from 0.59 to 0.95 GPa and corresponding elastic modulus ranging from 27 to 33 GPa. The present selective laser-melted magnesium parts are promising for biomedical applications since the mechanical properties are more closely matched with human bone than other metallic biomaterials. 相似文献

WC/steel composites fabricated by electro-slag melting and casting were re-melted by transverse flow CO2 laser. Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyze the microstructure evolution in laser melted layer. It was found that the laser-affected zone has three distinguished zones, the melted, transient and heat affected zone. The phases of the melted zone were composed of WC, Fe3W3C, (Cr,Fe)7C3, martensite and retained austenite. The microstructure evolution in the melted zone was represented by the transformation of three parts including the steel matrix, WC particles cluster and dispersed carbides. A significant reactant was herringbone eutectic carbide of Fe3W3C. The effect of laser scanning rate was mainly behaved in affecting the melt depth, microstructure of transient zone and dissolution of medium carbides. In comparison with the substrate, the melted zone has much higher microhardness. 相似文献

Titanium carbide nitride (TiCN) reinforced Ti coating was fabricated on the surface of Ti–6Al–4V alloy by laser cladding method. Microstructure and wear properties at the surface of the coating in atmosphere were investigated. Three zones can be distinguished of the coating: the clad zone (CZ), the heat affected zone (HAZ) and the substrate. The clad zone is composed of TiCN dendrites, TiO2 and Ti. A metallurgical bonding between the coating and the substrate was obtained. The microhardness and wear resistance of the TiCN/Ti coating are significantly improved. The average hardness of the coating is about 3 to 6 times of that of the substrate. The friction coefficients of the substrate and the coating are 0.48 and 0.34 respectively. The friction coefficient of the Ti–6Al–4V substrate was insensitive to the normal load, while that of the cladded TiCN/Ti coating was very sensitive to the normal load. The wear mass losses of the cladded samples are much lower than that of the substrate whatever the normal load is. 相似文献

The yttric calcium phosphate (CaP) coatings were in situ prepared on pure titanium substrate by laser cladding. The morphologies and phases constitution of CaP coatings were studied by electron probe microanalysis, X-ray diffraction and so on. The bonding state between the coating and the substrate is fine metallurgical combination, and the addition of yttria can fine the structure and increase the tensile strength of the coatings. The X-ray result shows that the coating is composed of the phases of HA, α-Ca2P2O7, β-Ca2P2O7 and CaTiO3. 相似文献

The content of each constituent element in the newly developed high-entropy alloys (HEAs) is always restricted in equimolar or near-equimolar ratio in order to avoid the formation of complex brittle phases during the solidification process. In this study, a 6FeNiCoSiCrAlTi high-entropy alloy coating with simple BCC solid solution phase has been prepared by laser cladding on a low carbon steel substrate. The microstructure, hardness and magnetic properties have been investigated. The experimental results show that the tendency of component segregation in the conventional solidification microstructure of multi-component alloy is effectively relieved. The microstructure of the coating is mainly composed of equiaxed polygonal grains, discontinuous interdendritic segregation and nano-precipitates. EBSD observation confirms that the polygonal grains and interdendritic segregation have similar BCC structure with lots of low angle grain boundaries at the interface. The microhardness of the coating reaches 780 HV0.5, which is much higher than most of the HEAs prepared by other methods. In addition, the coating shows excellent soft magnetic properties. 相似文献

In this study, 304 stainless steel coatings were deposited on interstitial-free steel substrate by cold spraying method. The effect of annealing treatment on microstructure, microhardness, ultimate tensile strength and fracture performance of the coatings were studied. The results showed that annealing treatment had made a dominant contribution to heal up the incomplete interfaces between the deposited particles. Both of the microstructure and the mechanical properties have been obviously optimized by annealing treatment. In addition, the coating microhardness decreased from 345 HV0.2 for the as-sprayed coating to 201 HV0.2 for the annealed coating. The coating ultimate tensile strength increased from 65 MPa for the as-sprayed coating to 357 MPa for the annealed coating, which resulted from the increase of the metallurgically bonded areas in the coating induced by annealing treatment. Fracture morphology of the coatings also revealed that annealing treatment changed the fracture character of the cold sprayed 304 stainless steel coating from brittle type to plastic type. 相似文献

Experiments of autogenous laser full penetration welding between dissimilar cast Ni-based superalloy K418 and alloy steel 42CrMo flat plates with 3.5 mm thickness were conducted using a 3 kW continuous wave (CW) Nd:YAG laser. The influences of laser welding velocity, flow rate of side-blow shielding gas, defocusing distance were investigated. Microstructure of the welded seam was characterized by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Mechanical properties of the welded seam were evaluated by microhardness and tensile strength testing. Results show that high quality full penetration laser-welded joint can be obtained by optimizing the welding velocity, flow rate of shielding gas and defocusing distance. The laser-welded seam have non-equilibrium solidified microstructures consisting of γ-FeCr0.29Ni0.16C0.06 austenite solid solution dendrites as the dominant and very small amount of super-fine dispersed Ni3Al γ′ phase and Laves particles as well as MC needle-like carbides distributed in the interdendritic regions. Although the microhardness of the laser-welded seam was lower than that of the base metal, the strength of the joint was equal to that of the base metal and the fracture mechanism showed fine ductility. 相似文献

Three kinds of laser boronizing composite coatings were in situ synthesized on Ti substrate by using powders of B, BN and B4C as starting materials. Microstructures of the laser boronizing composite coatings were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM); and their worn surface morphologies were also observed by using SEM. Moreover, the friction and wear behavior of the boronizing composite coatings under dry sliding condition were evaluated using a UMT-2MT friction and wear tester. It was found that all the three types of laser boronizing composite coatings had higher microhardness and better wear resistance than pure Ti substrate; and their microstructure and wear resistance varied with varying pre-placed powders of B, BN, and B4C. Under the same dry sliding test conditions, the wear resistance of the three kinds of laser boronizing composite coatings, i.e., sample 1 prepared from pre-placed B, sample 2 obtained from pre-placed BN, and sample 3 fabricated from pre-placed B4C, is ranked in an order of sample 1 > sample 2 > sample 3, which, surprisingly, well conforms to their order of hardness and friction coefficients. 相似文献

Laser cladding was carried out onto H13 steel with preplaced NiCrBSi+Ni/MoS2 powders using CO2 laser under the optimized experimental parameters of laser power 2 kW, scanning velocity 6 mm/s and laser beam diameter 3 mm. An X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive spectroscopy were applied to analyze the microstructure and phase compositions of the coating. Thermodynamic calculation was performed with Thermo-Calc software on the basis of a commercially available Ni-based Alloys׳ database. The experimental results show that MoS2 decomposed and S reacted with Cr to form nonstoichiometric CrxSy during the laser cladding process. The coating consists of spherical CrxSy particles, primary γ-Ni dendrite, interdendritic eutectic (γ-Ni+NiMo) and precipitated NiMo. The precipitated NiMo was fine and uniformly distributed in primary γ-Ni dendrite. The calculated results and experimental data indicate that the solidification process in the coating during laser cladding process was liquid→liquid+CrxSy→ liquid+CrxSy+γ-Ni→liquid+CrxSy+γ-Ni+ eutectic (γ-Ni+NiMo). A solid state phase transformation (fine and uniformly distributed NiMo precipitated from γ-Ni) occurred after the solidification process. The calculations agree well with the experimental data and it is helpful to understand the phase transformation and microstructure evolution in the coating. 相似文献

Multicarbide reinforced metal matrix composite (MMC) layers on a ductile iron (QT600-3) were fabricated by laser surface alloying (LSA) using two types of laser: a 5 kW continuous wave (CW) CO2 laser and a 400 W pulsed Nd:YAG laser, respectively. The research indicated that LSA of the ductile iron with multicarbide reinforced MMC layers demonstrates sound alloying layers free of cracks and porosities. The microstructure, phase structure and wear properties of MMC layers were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), as well as dry sliding wear testing. The microstructure of the alloyed layer is composed of pre-eutectic austenite, ledeburite, spherical TiC, Cr7C3 and Cr23C6 with various morphologies. TiC particles are dispersed uniformly in the upper region of MMC layers. The average hardness of LSA layers by CO2 laser and pulsed Nd:YAG laser is 859 HV0.2 and 727 HV0.2, respectively. The dry sliding wear testing shows the wear resistance of ductile iron is significantly improved after LSA with multicarbide. 相似文献

Inconel 617 alloy has superior high temperature properties and finds application in thermal systems. The alloying elements of chromium and molybdenum make the alloy resistant to corrosion. In the present study, the corrosion properties of Inconel 617 alloy, after 37,000 h of operation as a transition piece in the gas turbine engine, are examined. The workpiece surfaces are treated using an Nd : YAG pulsed laser. The electrochemical tests are carried out in 0.1 N H2SO4+0.05 N NaCl deairated aqueous solution at room temperature. It is found that the laser treated workpieces result in improved corrosion rates. The locally scattered shallow pits are observed at the workpiece surface after the electrochemical tests. 相似文献

Compositionally gradient CrNx coatings were fabricated using arc ion plating by gradually increasing N2 flow rate during the deposition process. The effect of substrate bias, ranging from 0 to −250 V, on film microstructure and mechanical properties were systematically investigated with XRD, SEM, HRTEM, nanoindentation, adhesion and wear tests. The results show that substrate bias has an important influence on film microstructure and mechanical properties of gradient CrNx coatings. The coatings mainly crystallized in the mixture of hexagonal Cr2N, bcc Cr and fcc rock-salt CrN phases. N2 flow rate change during deposition results in phase changes in order of Cr, Cr + Cr2N, Cr2N, Cr2N + CrN, and CrN, respectively, along thickness direction. Phase fraction and preferred orientation in CrNx coatings vary with substrate bias, exerting an effective influence on film hardness. With the increasing of bias, film microstructure evolves from an apparent columnar structure to a highly dense one. The maximum hardness of 39.1 GPa was obtained for the coatings deposited at a bias of −50 V with a friction coefficient of 0.55. It was also found that adhesion property and wear resistance of gradient CrNx coatings were better than that of homogeneous CrN coatings. 相似文献

Three functional coatings (namely Al-C, Si-P-Al and P-F-Al coating) were fabricated by microarc oxidation method on Ti6Al4V alloy in different aqueous solutions. The microstructure, phase and chemical composition of coatings were investigated using scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The interface adhesion failure mode of the coating is revealed by shear, tensile and thermal shock methods. The coatings exhibit high adhesion strength by the quantitative shearing test, registering as 110, 70, and 40 MPa for Al-C, Si-P-Al and P-F-Al coating, respectively. The tensile test of the coated samples shows that microarc oxidation treatment does not significantly deteriorate mechanical properties of substrate titanium alloy. The observations of the coating failure after subjected to the identical tensile elongation of 3.0% are well in agreement with those results of the shear test. The thermal cycle test indicates that all the coatings have good anti-thermal shocking properties. 相似文献

Yttrium oxide thin films were deposited on Si (1 1 1) and quartz substrates by pulsed laser deposition technique at different substrate temperature and oxygen partial pressure. XRD analysis shows that crystallite size of the yttrium oxide thin films increases as the substrate temperature increases from 300 to 873 K. However the films deposited at constant substrate temperature with variable oxygen partial pressure show opposite effect on the crystallite size. Band gap energies determined from UV-visible spectroscopy indicated higher values than that of the reported bulk value. 相似文献
