In this paper we construct the equilibrium states of Dyson's vector-valued hierarchical model with parameter at low temperatures and describe their large-scale limit. The analogous problems for <c<2 and 1<c< were solved in our papers [1] and [2]. In the present case the large-scale limit is similar to the case <c<2, i.e. it is a Gaussian self-similar field with long-range dependence in the direction orthogonal to and a field consisting of independent Gaussian random variables in the direction parallel with the magnetization. The main difference between the two cases is that now the normalizing factor in the direction of the magnetization contains, beside the square-root of the volume, a logarithmic term too.Dedicated to Roland Dobrushin  相似文献

Dependent on is produced through electrodeposition in three modifications: microcrystalline if , amorphous if and in a mixed state containing both components if . The interpretation of results of large and small angle X-ray scattering, of measurements of the coercivity and of the mechanical density shows that the three modifications consist of two phases. The structure of the grain boundary phase in the microcrystalline alloys differs considerably from that of the amorphous phase. This arises from the dependence of the atomic volume on the average phosphorus content . The volume fraction of the crystalline component decreases with increasing up to . But even in alloys revealing X-ray patterns without any peaks coming from crystalline particles small angle X-ray scattering indicates the existence of metal-rich inclusions occupying some percent of the total volume.  相似文献

In ordinary quantum mechanics for finite systems, the time evolution induced by Hamiltonians of the form is studied from the point of view of *-automorphisms of the CCRC*-algebra (see Ref. [1, 2]). It is proved that those Hamiltonians do not induce *-automorphisms of this algebra in the cases: a) and b)V L (,dx) L 1 (,dx), except when the potential is trivial.  相似文献

An axiomatic theory is formulated which describes a class of yes-no experiments, involving a fixed basic source, a fixed basic detector, and various filters. It is assumed that all filters considered can be constructed from a setP of primitive filters by composition and stochastic selection. Two physically plausible axioms are formulated which allow us to define the concept of asystem in the present context (cf. Definition2.4). To each system we can attach anorder unit module ( ) (cf. Definition5.1) whereby ( ) is acomplete, separable order unit space. Two additional axioms are proposed which have the effect that the space ( ) becomes isomorphic to the order unit space underlying a JB-algebra, at least in the case where isfinite dimensional (cf. Corollary7.9).  相似文献

We show that the Ashtekar-Isham extension of the configuration space of Yang-Mills theories is (topologically and measure-theoretically) the projective limit of a family of finite dimensional spaces associated with arbitrary finite lattices. These results are then used to prove that is contained in a zero measure subset of with respect to the diffeomorphism invariant Ashtekar-Lewandowski measure on . Much as in scalar field theory, this implies that states in the quantum theory associated with this measure can be realized as functions on the extended configuration space .  相似文献

Witten's equation can be interpreted as a gauge fixing condition for classical supergravity. We rigorously prove the existence of asymptotically constant solutions of the more general gauge condition for almost all endomorphismsA of the spin bundle. Each gives an expression for the gravitational energy similar to Witten's. These include the choice , which yields the particularly elegant energy expression first noticed by Deser.Partially supported by N. S. F. Grant MCS-82-02018 at Harvard University  相似文献

With aC*-algebra with unit andgG g a homomorphic map of a groupG into the automorphism group ofG, the central measure of a state of is invariant under the action ofG (in the state space of ) iff is -invariant. Furthermore if the pair { ,G} is asymptotically abelian, is ergodic iff is ergodic. Transitive ergodic states (corresponding to transitive central measures) are centrally decomposed into primary states whose isotropy groups form a conjugacy class of subgroups. IfG is locally compact and acts continuously on , the associated covariant representations of { , } are those induced by such subgroups. Transitive states under time-translations must be primary if required to be stable. The last section offers a complete classification of the isotropy groups of the primary states occurring in the central decomposition of euclidean transitive ergodic invariant states.  相似文献

An elementary proof of Araki's duality theorem for free fields is presented. The theorem says that for a certain class of regionsO in Minkowski space, the commutant of (O), the von Neumann algebra generated by all observables belonging to measurements withinO, is exactly (O), whereO is the spacelike separated complement ofO.Supported by the National Science Foundation under grants GP 24003, GP 30819X and GP 31239X.  相似文献

Limits of states
Estimates for vector representations of states are used to prove that {C n C 0} is strong-operator convergent toC 0, whereC n is the universal central support of n and { n } is a sequence of states of aC*-algebra converging in norm to 0. States of of a given type are shown to form a norm-closed convex subset of the (norm) dual of . The pure states of form a norm-closed subset of the dual. With partial support of the National Science Foundation (USA)  相似文献

The theory of the focusing NLS equation under periodic boundary conditions, together with the Floquet spectral theory of its associated Zakharov-Shabat linear operator , is developed in sufficient detail for later use in studies of perturbations of the NLS equation. Counting lemmas for the non-selfadjoint operator , are established which control its spectrum and show that all of its eccentricities are finite in number and must reside within a finite discD in the complex eigenvalue plane. The radius of the discD is controlled by theH 1 norm of the potential . For this integrable NLS Hamiltonian system, unstable tori are identified, and Backlund transformations are then used to construct global representations of their stable and unstable manifolds-whiskered tori for the NLS pde.The Floquet discriminant is used to introduce a natural sequence of NLS constants of motion, [ , where c j denotes thej th critical point of the Floquet discriminant ()]. A Taylor series expansion of the constants , with explicit representations of the first and second variations, is then used to study neighborhoods of the whiskered tori. In particular, critical tori with hyperbolic structure are identified through the first and second variations of , which themselves are expressed in terms of quadratic products of eigenfunctions of . The second variation permits identification, within the disc D, of important bifurcations in the spectral configurations of the operator . The constant , as the height of the Floquet discriminant over the critical point c j , admits a natural interpretation as a Morse function for NLS isospectral level sets. This Morse interpretation is studied in some detail. It is valid globally for the infinite tail, , which is associated with critical points outside the discD. Within this disc, the interpretation is only valid locally, with the same obstruction to its global validity as to a global ordering of the spectrum. Nevertheless, this local Morse theory, together with the Backlund representations of the whiskered tori, produces extremely clear pictures of the stratification of NLS invariant sets near these whiskered tori-pictures which are useful in the study of perturbations of NLS. Finally, a natural connection is noted between the constants of the integrable theory and Melnikov functions for the theory of perturbations of the NLS equation. This connection generates a simple, but general, representations of the Melnikov functions.Funded in part by AFOSR-90-0161 and by NSF DMS 8922717 A01  相似文献

Representations of theC*-algebra of observables corresponding to thermal equilibrium of a system at given temperatureT and chemical potential are studied. Both for finite and for infinite systems it is shown that the representation is reducible and that there exists a conjugation in the representation space, which maps the von Neumann algebra spanned by the representative of onto its commutant. This means that there is an equivalent anti-linear representation of in the commutant. The relation of these properties with the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger boundary condition is discussed.  相似文献

Let denote the grand canonical Gibbs measure of a lattice gas in a cube of sizeL with the chemical potential and a fixed boundary condition. Let be the corresponding canonical measure defined by conditioning on . Consider the lattice gas dynamics for which each particle performs random walk with rates depending on near-by particles. The rates are chosen such that, for everyn andL fixed, is a reversible measure. Suppose that the Dobrushin-Shlosman mixing conditions holds for forall chemical potentials . We prove that for any probability densityf with respect to ; here the constant is independent ofn orL andD denotes the Dirichlet form of the dynamics. The dependence onL is optimal.Research partially supported by U.S. National Science Foundations grant 9403462, Sloan Foundation Fellowship and David and Lucile Packard Foundation Fellowship.  相似文献

Neutrinoless double-beta decay within Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking is considered. Limits on R-parity breaking constant coming from non-observability of 0 in 76Ge are found. The dependence of on different parameters at the messenger scale M are shown, with special attention paid to nuclear part of calculations. We have found that strongly depends on the effective supersymmetry breaking scale only and deduced limits imposed on this non-standard parameter by the germanium experiment.  相似文献

An analysis of the ac conductivity ac(), and the ac dielectric constant, (), of the metal-insulator percolation systems is presented in the critical regime near the transition threshold. It is argued that the polarization and relaxation of the finite fractal metallic clusters play dominant roles in controlling the dynamic response of the system on both sides of the threshold. The relaxation time constant of a fractal cluster is shown to scale with its size as withd t = 4 – 2d +d c + /, whered is tge Euclidean dimension, andd c , , and are the scaling indices for the charging, the dc conductivity, and the correlation length respectively. The average time dependent response of the system is shown to scale with a new time scale , where is the correlation length and 0 is a microscopic time constant. It is shown that at frequencies and with /dt 1, in close agreement with experiments. The effects of the anomalous transport along the infinite cluster and the medium polarizability are also discussed.  相似文献

Couch and Torrence suggest that the vacuum Einstein equations admit a larger class of asymptotically flat solutions than those exhibiting the peeling property. Starting with the assumption that , (d/dr) and (/x A ) , wherex A (A = 2, 3) are angular coordinates, they show that , where 1 2 and 1<0; , where 2 1 and 1< 1; and 4 and 3 peel as they would under the stronger peeling conditions. The Winicour-Tamburino energy-momentun and angular momentum integrals for these solutions, in general, diverge. In fact, since Couch and Torrence determine only the radial dependence of the solution, it is not clear that the solutions are well defined. We find that the stronger assumption , (d/dr) , and (/x A ) does result in well-defined solutions for which both the energy-momentum and angular momentum intergrals are not only finite but result in the same expressions as are obtained for peeling space-times. This assumption appears to be the minimal assumption that is necessary for investigating outgoing radiation at null infinity. In part based on a dissertation by Stephanie Novak and submitted to Syracuse University in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the Ph.D. degree.  相似文献
