Ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerizations with disiloxane‐bridged metallocenes, rac‐ and meso‐1,1,3,3‐tetramethyldisiloxanediyl‐bis(1‐indenyl)zirconium dichloride (rac‐ 1 , meso‐ 1 ) activated by modified methylaluminoxane were performed to investigate the influence of conformational dynamics on comonomer selectivity. Although 1H NOESY (nuclear Overhauser and exchange spectroscopy) analysis indicated that the most stable conformation for the meso isomer in solution was that in which both indenes project over the metal coordination site, this isomer showed higher 1‐hexene selectivity in copolymerization (re = 140 ± 30, rh = 0.024 ± 0.004) than the rac isomer with only one indene over the coordination site (re = 240 ± 20, rh = 0.005 ± 0.001). The meso isomer showed high 1‐hexene selectivity, a high product of reactivity ratios (rerh = 3.3 ± 0.5) and produced copolymers that could be separated into fractions with different ethylene content suggesting that the active species exhibited multisite behavior and populated conformations with different comonomer selectivities during the copolymerization. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Commercial zeolite acid mordenite was thermally treated for use as a support for bis(n‐butyl‐cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride [(n‐BuCp)2ZrCl2] for the further evaluation of ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The polymerization time, temperature, and solvent, as well as the addition of tri(isobutyl)aluminum in the hexane medium, were evaluated. The catalytic activity and 1‐hexene content in the copolymer synthesized with the supported system were very near those obtained with the homogeneous precursor. A comonomer effect was observed for both systems. The polymerization rate profiles were obtained for ethylene polymerization, and the activation energy and monomer reactivity were calculated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel bridged multi‐chelated non‐metallocene catalysts is synthesized by the treatment of N,N‐imidazole, N,N‐dimethylimidazole, and N,N‐benzimidazole with n‐BuLi, 2,6‐dimethylaniline, and MCl4 (M = Ti, Zr) in THF. These catalysts are used for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene after activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO). The effects of polymerization temperature, Al/M molar ratio, and pressure of monomer on ethylene copolymerization behaviors are investigated in detail. These results reveal that these catalysts are favorable for copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene featured high catalytic activity and high comonomer incorporation. The copolymer is characterized by 13C NMR, WAXD, GPC, and DSC. The results confirm that the obtained copolymer features broad molecular weight distribution (MWD) about 33–35 and high 1‐hexene incorporation up to 9.2 mol %, melting temperature of the copolymer depends on the content of 1‐hexene incorporation within the copolymer chain and 1‐hexene unit in the copolymer chain isolates by ethylene units. The homopolymer of ethylene has broader MWD with 42–46. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 417–424, 2010  相似文献

Ethene was copolymerized (1) with 1,5‐hexadiene with rac‐ethylenebis(indenyl)zirconium dichloride/methylaluminoxane (MAO) used as a catalyst and (2) with 1,7‐octadiene with bis(n‐butylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride/MAO and rac‐ethylenebis(indenyl)hafnium dichloride (Et[Ind]2HfCl2)/MAO used as catalysts at 80 °C in toluene. The copolymer microstructure and the influence of diene incorporation on the rheological properties were examined. Ethene and 1,5‐hexadiene formed a copolymer in which a major fraction of the 1,5‐hexadiene was incorporated into rings and a small fraction formed 1‐butenyl branches. The copolymerization of ethene with 1,7‐octadiene resulted in a higher selectivity toward branch formation. Some of the branches formed long‐chain‐branching (LCB) structures. The ring formation selectivity increased with decreasing ethene concentration in the polymerization reactor. Melt rheological properties of the diene copolymers resembled those of metallocene‐catalyzed LCB homopolyethenes and depended on the vinyl content, the catalyst, and the polymerization conditions. At high diene contents, all three catalysts produced crosslinked polyethene. This was especially pronounced with Et[Ind]2HfCl2, where only 0.2 mol % 1,7‐octadiene in the copolymer was required to achieve significantly modified rheological properties. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Ethene homopolymerizations and copolymerizations with 1‐hexene were catalyzed by methylaluminoxane‐activated (1,2,4‐Me3Cp)2ZrCl2. Investigations of the effects of various pressures on the homopolymerizations and copolymerizations and of the effects of different concentrations of trimethylaluminum (TMA) on the copolymerizations were performed. The characteristics of the ethene/1‐hexene copolymers agreed with expectations for changes in the ethene concentration: the incorporation of 1‐hexene decreased, whereas the melting point and crystallinity increased, with increasing pressure. The main termination mechanism of the homopolymerizations was β‐hydrogen transfer to the monomer. Termination mechanisms resulting in vinylidene unsaturations dominated in the copolymerizations. Standard termination mechanisms producing vinyl and trans‐vinylene unsaturations occurred in parallel and were not influenced by the ethene or TMA concentration. In addition, some chain transfer to TMA, producing saturated end groups after hydrolysis, occurred. Copolymerizations with different additions of TMA, with the other polymerization conditions kept constant, showed that the catalytic productivity [tons of polyethylene/(mol of Zr h)], the 1‐hexene incorporation, and the molecular weight (from gel permeation chromatography) were independent of the TMA concentration. Surprisingly, the vinylidene content decreased almost linearly with increasing TMA concentration. TMA might have coordinated to the catalytic site after 1‐hexene insertion and rotation to the β‐agostic state and, therefore, suppressed the standard termination reactions after 1‐hexene insertion. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new disilyl‐bridged complex, [(Ntert‐butylamido)(3‐indenyl)tetramethyldisilyl]titanium dichloride ( 3 ), was synthesized and activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO) for propylene homopolymerization and ethylene/propylene and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerizations. A polypropylene with a slight isotactic enrichment was obtained. The number of regioerrors present in the polypropylene was somewhat smaller than that found in most polypropylenes made from monosilyl‐bridged [(Ntert‐butylamido)(3‐indenyl)dimethylsilyl]titanium dichloride. The regioerrors detected in the copolymers obtained from 3 /MAO were on the order of the amounts observed in polymers made with the monosilyl‐bridged constrained geometry catalysts. Ethylene copolymers of propylene and 1‐hexene had random sequence distributions and showed significant comonomer incorporation. Because of the presence of regioerrors, a modified method for determining the monomer composition and sequence distribution was developed from the direct measurement of the monomer content from the number of methylene and methine carbons per polymer chain, regardless of propylene inversion. An estimate of the error in the copolymerization reactivity ratio determination for regioirregular ethylene/α‐olefin copolymers was obtained by the calculation of the reactivity ratios from monomer dyad sequences, with consideration given to the contribution of major regioirregular sequences. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of the kind of transition‐metal catalyst on the extent of comonomer insertion in the syndiospecific complex‐coordinative copolymerization of styrene and para‐methylstyrene has been investigated. The results for the influence of the polymerization conditions have shown that there is no real difference between solution copolymerization in toluene and solvent‐free styrene copolymerization in bulk, with respect to the reactivity ratio for para‐methylstyrene (r2), under comparable conditions in the presence of methylaluminoxane and triisobutylaluminum and at low polymerization conversions. All the investigated catalysts lead to a preferred incorporation of para‐methylstyrene into the polymer chain in comparison with styrene and over the whole range of monomer compositions. The increasing capability of the different catalysts to provide copolymers with enhanced para‐methylstyrene concentrations can be summarized by the increasing r2 values for the copolymerization in bulk as follows: η5‐pentamethylcyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride < η5‐octahydrofluorenyl titanium trimethoxide < η5‐octahydrofluorenyl titanium tristrifluoroacetate < η5‐cyclopentadienyl titanium(N,N‐dicyclohexylamido)dichloride < η5‐cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride. For a correlation between the catalyst structure and the comonomer insertion, the catalysts can be described by electronic effects (electrostatic charge of the transition‐metal atom) and steric effects (minimum structural cone angle). The results show that the steric properties of the transition‐metal complexes have the most important effect on the insertion of para‐methylstyrene into the copolymer. If the minimum structural cone angle of the ligand of the transition‐metal catalyst decreases, the incorporation of the comonomer para‐methylstyrene increases significantly. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The catalytic properties of a set of ansa‐complexes (R‐Ph)2C(Cp)(Ind)MCl2 [R = tBu, M = Ti ( 3 ), Zr ( 4 ) or Hf ( 5 ); R = MeO, M = Zr ( 6 ), Hf ( 7 )] in α‐olefin homopolymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization were explored in the presence of MAO (methylaluminoxane). Complex 4 with steric bulk tBu group on phenyl exhibited remarkable catalytic activity for ethylene polymerization. It was 1.6‐fold more active than complex 11 [Ph2C(Cp)(Ind)ZrCl2] at 11 atm ethylene pressure and was 4.8‐fold more active at 1 atm pressure. The introduction of bulk substituent tBu into phenyl groups not only increased the catalytic activity greatly but also enhanced the content of 1‐hexene in ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The highest 1‐hexene incorporation was 25.4%. In addition, 4 was also active for propylene and 1‐hexene homopolymerization, respectively, and low isotactic polypropylene (mmmm = 11.3%) and isotactic polyhexene (mmmm = 31.6%) were obtained. The behaviors of rac‐[CH2(3‐tert‐butyl‐1‐indenyl)2]ZrCl2 ( 1 ) and Cp2ZrCl2 ( 2 ) activated by methylaluminoxane in ethene/1,4‐pentadiene copolymerization are compared. In the presence of 1 , inserted methylene‐1,3‐cyclobutane units, a large number of crosslinks, and a small number of methylene‐1,3‐cyclohexane units are obtained. Differently, a polyethene containing only 1,3‐cyclohexane rings is achieved with 2 as the catalytic precursor. Polymer microstructures are compared with those obtained with 1 and 2 in ethene/1,6‐heptadiene copolymerization, which leads only to polyethene containing cyclohexane rings. A tentative rationalization of the experimental data is reported. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 5525–5532, 2006  相似文献

The influence of ligand structure on copolymerization properties of metallocene catalysts was elucidated with three C1‐symmetric methylalumoxane (MAO) activated zirconocene dichlorides, ethylene(1‐(7, 9)‐diphenylcyclopenta‐[a]‐acenaphthadienyl‐2‐phenyl‐2‐cyclopentadienyl)ZrCl2 ( 1 ), ethylene(1‐(7, 9)‐diphenylcyclopenta‐[a]‐acenaphthadienyl‐2‐phenyl‐2‐fluorenyl)ZrCl2 ( 2 ), and ethylene(1‐(9)‐fluorenyl‐(R)1‐phenyl‐2‐(1‐indenyl)ZrCl2 ( 3 ). Polyethenes produced with 1 /MAO had considerable, ca. 10% amount of trans‐vinylene end groups, resulting from the chain end isomerization prior to the chain termination. When ethene was copolymerized with 1‐hexene or 1‐hexadecene using 1 /MAO, molar mass of the copolymers varied from high to moderate (531–116 kg/mol) depending on the comonomer feed. At 50% comonomer feed, ethene/1‐olefin copolymers with high hexene or hexadecene content (around 10%) were achievable. In the series of catalysts, polyethenes with highest molar mass, up to 985 kg/mol, were obtained with sterically most crowded 2 /MAO, but the catalyst was only moderately active to copolymerize higher olefins. Catalyst 3 /MAO produced polyethenes with extremely small amounts of trans‐vinylene end groups and relatively low molar mass 1‐hexene copolymers (from 157 to 38 kg/mol) with similar comonomer content as 1 . These results indicate that the catalyst structure, which favors chain end isomerization, is also capable to produce high molar mass 1‐olefin copolymers with high comonomer content. In addition, an exceptionally strong synergetic effect of the comonomer on the polymerization activity was observed with catalyst 3 /MAO. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Propylene was copolymerized with the linear α‐olefins 1‐octene, 1‐decene, 1‐tetradecene, and 1‐octadecene. The metallocene catalyst Me2Si(2‐Me Benz[e]Ind)2ZrCl2, in conjunction with methylalumoxane as a cocatalyst, was used to synthesize the copolymers. The copolymers were characterized by 13C and 1H NMR with a solvent mixture of 1,2,4‐trichlorobenzene (TCB) and benzene‐d6 (9/1) at 100 °C. Thermal analyses were carried out to determine the melting and crystallization temperatures, whereas the molecular weights and molecular weight distributions were determined by gel permeation chromatography with TCB at 140 °C. Glass‐transition temperatures were determined with dynamic mechanical analysis. Relationships among the comonomer type and amount of incorporation and the melting/crystallization temperatures, glass‐transition temperature, crystallinity, and molecular weight were established. Moreover, up to 3.5% of the comonomer was incorporated, and there was a decrease in the molecular weight with increased comonomer content. Also, the melting and crystallization temperatures decreased as the comonomer content increased, but this relationship was independent of the comonomer type. In contrast, the values for the glass‐transition temperature also decreased with increased comonomer content, but the extent of the decrease was dependent on the comonomer type. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The study of ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization with the zirconocene catalyst, bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride (Cp2ZrCl2)/methylaluminoxane (MAO), anchored on a MgCl2(THF)2 support was carried out. The influence of 1‐hexene concentration in the feed on catalyst productivity and comonomer reactivity as well as other properties was investigated. Additionally, the effect of support modification by the organoaluminum compounds [(MAO, trimethlaluminum (AlMe3), or diethylaluminum chloride (Et2AlCl)] on the behavior of the MgCl2(THF)2/Cp2ZrCl2/MAO catalyst in the copolymerization process and on the properties of the copolymers was explored. Immobilization of the Cp2ZrCl2 compound on the complex magnesium support MgCl2(THF)2 resulted in an effective system for the copolymerization of ethylene with 1‐hexene. The modification of the support as well as the kind of organoaluminum compound used as a modifier influenced the activity of the examined catalyst system. Additionally, the profitable influence of immobilization of the homogeneous catalyst as well as modification of the support applied on the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the copolymers was established. Finally, with the successive self‐nucleation/annealing procedure, the copolymers obtained over both homogeneous and heterogeneous metallocene catalysts were heterogeneous with respect to their chemical composition. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. [Pd2(μ‐Cl)2(C6F5)2(tht)2] ( 1 ) is a very efficient initiator of the radical polymerization of methyl acrylate, but it is not active in the polymerization of methyl methacrylate or in the copolymerization with 1‐hexene. The addition of an excess of NBu4Cl to solutions of [Pd2(μ‐Cl)2(C6F5)2(tht)2] ( 1 ) provides an initiator system that copolymerizes methyl acrylate and 1‐hexene by an insertion‐triggered radical mechanism. Random copolymers are obtained with 11% incorporation of 1‐hexene in moderate yields (about 35%). Studies of the decomposition products obtained after the first insertion of methyl acrylate in the Pd? C6F5 bond of 1 show that the addition of excess halide in the presence of monomer favors the homolytic cleavage of the Pd? C bond, and the generation of the radicals that are active species in the polymerization, versus alternative evolution pathways. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A systematic study of the influence of the α‐olefin size, the catalyst stereospecificity and the reaction temperature was done on the catalytic activity and tacticity of poly‐α‐olefins from 1‐hexene to 1‐octadecene. The metallocenes used were rac‐Et[Ind2]ZrCl2 ( 1 ) and Me2C[Cp(9‐Flu)]ZrCl2 ( 2 ) to obtain isotactic and syndiotactic polyolefins. Some catalysts giving atactic polymers were also used in order to study all the possible 13C NMR pentades. Catalytic activities increased and isotacticity and syndiotacticity decreased with temperature, but no real trend was found with the α‐olefin size. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (t‐BuNSiMe2Flu)TiMe2 ( 1 ) activated with Me3Al‐free methylaluminoxane (dried MAO) which conducts vinyl addition polymerization of norbornene (N) with very high activity was applied for homopolymerization of N derivatives (i.e., 5‐vinyl‐2‐norbornene (5V2N), 5‐ethylidene‐2‐norbornene (5E2N), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD)) at 40 °C. The activities for the N derivatives were about two orders of magnitude lower than that for N and decreased in the following order: 5E2N ? 5V2N ? DCPD. Copolymerization of ethene (E) and 5E2N under an atmospheric pressure of E was then conducted by 1 ‐dried MAO. The copolymerization proceeded with better activity than the homopolymerization of 5E2N and gave poly(E‐co‐5E2N) with narrow molecular weight distribution. The content of the ethylidene group in poly(E‐co‐5E2N) was controlled by the feed ratio of 5E2N/E. The Tg value of the copolymer changed from 70 °C to 155 °C according to the 5E2N content from 27 mol % to 68 mol %. The addition of N as a third monomer to the E‐5E2N copolymerization improved the activity and raised the Tg values of the terpolymer above 200 °C. The content of 5E2N was controlled by the 5E2N/N ratio with keeping the high Tg values. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 4581–4587, 2007  相似文献

Summary: A tandem catalytic system, composed of (η5‐C5H4CMe2C6H5)TiCl3 ( 1 )/MMAO (modified methyl aluminoxane) and [(η5‐C5Me4)SiMe2(tBuN)]TiCl2 ( 2 )/MMAO, was applied for the synthesis of ethylene–hex‐1‐ene copolymers with ethylene as the only monomer stock. During the reaction, 1 /MMAO trimerized ethylene to hex‐1‐ene, while 2 /MMAO copolymerized ethylene with the in situ produced hex‐1‐ene to poly(ethylene–hex‐1‐ene). By changing the catalyst ratio and reaction conditions, a series of copolymer grades with different hex‐1‐ene fractions at high purity were effectively produced.

A series of novel vanadium(III) complexes bearing heteroatom‐containing group‐substituted salicylaldiminato ligands [RN?CH(ArO)]VCl2(THF)2 (Ar = C6H4, R = C3H2NS, 2a ; C7H4NS, 2c ; C7H5N2, 2d ; Ar = C6H2tBu2 (2,4), R = C3H2NS, 2b ) have been synthesized and characterized. Structure of complex 2c was further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The complexes were investigated as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization in the presence of Et2AlCl. Complexes 2a–d exhibited high catalytic activities (up to 22.8 kg polyethylene/mmolV h bar), and affording polymer with unimodal molecular weight distributions at 25–70 °C in the first 5‐min polymerization, whereas produced bimodal molecular weight distribution polymers at 70 °C when polymerization time prolonged to 30 min. The catalyst structure plays an important role in controlling the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the resultant polymers produced in 30 min polymerization. In addition, ethylene/hexene copolymerizations with catalysts 2a–d were also explored in the presence of Et2AlCl, which leads to the high molecular weight and unimodal distributions copolymers with high comonomer incorporation. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation, and polymer molecular weight can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of catalyst structure and the reaction parameters, such as comonomer feed concentration, polymerization time, and polymerization reaction temperature. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The permeation behavior of different ethylene‐1‐hexene, ethylene‐1‐octene, and ethylene‐1‐dodecene copolymers synthesized with metallocene catalysts has been analyzed. These copolymers cover a wide range of comonomer contents, so their crystallinities display rather considerable variations. The results for the permeability to oxygen of the different ethylene copolymers show that the main factor influencing the permeability is the noncrystalline fraction, although some influence of the kind of comonomer may also be present, which may be explained by the fact that when the alkyl branch of the α‐olefin is longer, there is an increase in the free volume in the amorphous and interfacial regions, causing slightly higher values of the permeability coefficient. From the results with different gases, it follows that, in general, an increase in the size of the penetrant (as expressed by its kinetic diameter or critical molar volume) leads to an increase in the solubility and a decrease in the diffusion coefficient. A wide range of permeability values is covered by these ethylene copolymers, depending basically on the crystallinity of the sample, but the permselectivity of CO2 with respect to oxygen (and probably between other pairs of gases) does not differ very much among the different copolymers. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
