A reaction of 2,2-disubstituted 1,1-dicyanoethenes with β-dimethylaminoacrolein aminal and 3-dimethylamino-1,1,3-trimethoxypropane leads to substituted 6,6-dicyano-1-dimethyl-aminohexatrienes and an organic salt containing 1,1,9,9-tetracyano-2,8-diphenylnona-2,4,6,8-tetraenide as the anion and (dimethylaminopropenylidene)dimethylammonium as the cation, on the basis of which new cation-anionic polymethine dyes were obtained. Absorption, fluorescence, and fluorescence excitation spectra have been studied for a number of anionic, cationic, and cationic-anionic polymethine dyes in low-polar and nonpolar solvents, as well as in binary mixtures of solvents differing in polarity. For most of the dyes studied, fluorescent aggregates have been found to form. Their broad fluorescence bands are located in the long-wave region with respect to those of the initial dyes. The quantum yield of the aggregate fluorescence is normally higher than that of the initial dyes. Fluorescence excitation spectra of some cationic-anionic dyes in nonpolar solvents disagree with their absorption spectra because of contact and solvent-separated ion pairs simultaneously present in the solution.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 1, pp. 69–75, January, 1993.  相似文献

Reactions of 3-(dicyanomethylidene)indan-1-one and 1,3-bis(dicyanomethylidene)indane with β-dimethylaminoacrolein aminal, 3-dimethylamino-1,1,3-trimethoxypropane, DMF acetal, and ethyl orthoformate were studied. The reaction of 3-(dicyanomethylidene)indan-1-one with 3-dimethylamino-1,1,3-trimethoxypropane gave the 1,3-bis(1-dicyanomethylidene-3-oxoindane)trimethineoxanine salt in high yield, which was used to obtain a number of novel cation-anionic polymethine dyes. The effect of solvents, halo substituents and surfactants on the aggregation of xanthene dyes (fluorescein and eosin Y) has been investigated. It has been found that polar protic solvents promote the aggregation of both the dyes while polar aprotic solvents hinder the aggregation process. Apolar solvents can disintegrate the aggregates previously formed in aqueous medium. The nature of the driving forces for aggregation in the two dyes is different. Surfactants bearing charge opposite to the dye molecules facilitate aggregation. These observations bear direct relevance to the possible use of fluorescein and eosin Y as quantum yield standards, photosensitizers, laser dyes and biological labels.  相似文献

The self-assembly of a bowl-shaped naphthalimide-annulated corannulene of high solubility has been studied in a variety of solvents by NMR and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Evaluation by the anti-cooperative K2-K model revealed the formation of supramolecular dimers of outstanding thermodynamic stability. Further structural proof for the almost exclusive formation of dimers over extended aggregates is demonstrated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) measurements as well as by theoretical calculations. Thus, herein we present the first report of a supramolecular dimer of an annulated corannulene derivative in solution and discuss its extraordinarily high thermodynamic stability with association constants up to >106 M−1 in methylcyclohexane, which is comparable to the association constants given for planar phthalocyanine and perylene bisimide dyes.  相似文献

The effect of DNA was studied on cis-trans equilibrium and spectral and fluorescent properties of a number of meso-substituted carbocyanine dyes: 3,3′-diethyl-9-thiomethylthiacarbocyanine iodide (K1), 3,3′-diethyl-9-methoxythiacarbocyanine iodide (K2), 3,3′-9-triethylthiacarbocyanine iodide (K3), 3,3′-dimethyl-9-ethyloxacarbocyanine iodide (K4), 3,3′-9-triethyl-5,5′-dimethyloxacarbocyanine iodide (K5), and 3,3′,9-triethyl-6,6′-dimethoxyoxacarbocyanine iodide (K6). Equilibrium between the cis and trans isomeric forms was detected for the thiacarbocyanine dyes in a number of organic solvents, with a shift of the equilibrium toward the cis-isomer caused by an increase in the solvent polarity. The oxacarbocyanines are present only in the form of trans-isomers in both polar and nonpolar solvents. Interaction of the dyes with DNA leads to the formation of stable noncovalent complexes. The complexation of the thiacarbocyanine dyes results in a shift of the isomeric equilibrium and occurs predominantly via the cis-form of the dye. The effect of solvent polarity and ion pair formation oncis-trans-isomerization of cationic-anionic polymethine dyes and of related simple cationic and anionic dyes is studied by flash photolysis. The change in the rate constant for reversecis-trans- isomerization of photoisomers due to the interaction of a cation with an anion in an ion pair is observed in nonpolar solvents. A drop in the yield of the photoisomers to zero is observed for a number of cationic-anionic dyes in weakly polar and nonpolar solvents which is possibly due to steric hindrances in the photoisomerization process in ion pairs.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. The fluorescence spectra were studied and the quantum yields of the fluorescence of a number of cationic-anionic polymethine dyes were measured in polar, low-polarity, and nonpolar solvents. It was shown that the fluorescence spectra of cationic-anionic dyes in polar solvents, like the absorption spectra, represent the sum of the fluorescence spectra of the corresponding cationic and anionic dyes. For dyes in which the absorption bands of the anion and cation are close and a new short-wave band arises in the ion pairs, excitation into this band virtually does not lead to fluorescence, which is a consequence of the forbidden nature of the long-wave transition that arises as a result of the interaction of the chromophores. The correlation of dibutyl-ether-ester of xanthene dye structures with their photophysical properties is discussed with respect to their capability as fluorescent probes based on ultraviolet–visible absorption, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetimes measured in different solvents. It was found that the dibutyl-ether-ester of fluorescein is very weakly emissive in aprotic solvents, but fairly strong fluorescent in alcohols. The dependence of fluorescence quantum yield (Φf) and lifetime (τf) on solvent polarity suggests non-involvement of the intra-molecular photoinduced electron transfer (PeT) mechanism, suggested previously to account for the emission efficiency of fluorescein derivatives. The xanthene dyes intend to self-assemble in aprotic solvents, less polar solvents facilitate the aggregation while hydrogen bonding disfavor it. The formation of non-emissive H-aggregates is proposed to be responsible for their fluorescent behavior. The esterification showed stronger influences on the photophysics than the etherification, i.e. the former caused larger reduction of Φf owing to the internal conversion. The halogenation decreases the fluorescence quantum yield and lifetime of the xanthene dyes, owing to the enhancement of inter-system crossing process.  相似文献

Anionic symmetric polymethine dyes have been synthesized based on bis(2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentyl) 9H-fluorene-2,7-disulfonate, which exhibit intensive absorption in the near IR region of the spectrum: pentamethine with an open polymethine chain (⋉max = 790 nm) and nonamethine with six- and five-membered saturated rings at δ-positions of the chain (@#@max = 1044 and 1086 nm, respectively). To make comparisons, anionic dyes with analogous structure of the polymethine chain, viz., 1,3-dimethylbarbituric and 1,3-diethylthiobarbituric acid derivatives, have been also synthesized. Quantum chemical analysis of the electron structure of the dyes has been performed. Their solvatochromism in polar solvents depends weakly on electrophilicity and nucleophilicity of the medium and is primarily determined by universal interactions. This is the reason that they, in contrast to cationic dyes, retain a high selectivity of absorption (sharp absorption bands) and universal contour of electronic bands in strong polar solvents even with the long polymethine chain. Special solvatochromic effects of the anionic dyes in weakly polar media have been revealed and interpreted. The role of a counterion in these effects has been analyzed.  相似文献

The absorption spectra of a number of cationic-anionic polymethine dyes in polar, low-polarity, and nonpolar solvents were studied. It was established that in polar solvents the absorption spectra represent the sum of the absorption spectra of the cation and anion, whereas in nonpolar and low-polarity solvents, in many cases the appearance of a short-wave absorption band is observed, due to interaction of the chromophores of the cation and anion in ion pairs. In solvents of intermediate polarity (for example, in chloroform and ethyl acetate), a concentration dependence of the absorption spectra is observed, determined by the equilibria of ionic dissociation. The ionic dissociation constants of a number of cationic-anionic dyes in chloroform and ethyl acetate were determined by a conductometric method. The extraction and separation of dyes present on textile fibers offers the possibility of enhanced discrimination between forensic trace fiber evidence. An automated liquid sample handling workstation was programmed to deliver varying solvent combinations to acid-dyed nylon samples, and the resulting extracts were analyzed by an ultraviolet/visible microplate reader to evaluate extraction efficiencies at different experimental conditions. Combinatorial experiments using three-component mixture designs varied three solvents (water, pyridine, and aqueous ammonia) and were employed at different extraction temperatures for various extraction durations. The extraction efficiency as a function of the three solvents (pyridine/ammonia/water) was modeled and used to define optimum conditions for the extraction of three subclasses of acid dyes (anthraquinone, azo, and metal complex) from nylon fibers. The capillary electrophoresis analysis of acid dye extracts is demonstrated using an electrolyte solution of 15 mM ammonium acetate in acetonitrile/water (40:60, v/v) at pH 9.3. Excellent separations and discriminating diode array spectra are obtained even for dyes of similar color. The UV–vis absorption properties of azo dyes are known to exhibit a variation with the polarity and acidity of the dye environment. The spectral properties of a series of anionic azo dyes were characterized to further probe the interaction of these dyes with two types of surfactant aggregates: (1) the spherical micelles formed in aqueous solution by alkyltrimethylammonium bromide (CnTAB) surfactants with n = 10–16 and (2) the unilamellar vesicles spontaneously formed in water from binary mixtures of the oppositely-charged double-tailed surfactants cationic didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) and anionic sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate (Aerosol OT or AOT). The observed dye spectra reflect the solvatochromic behavior of the dyes and suggest the location and orientation of the dye within the surfactant aggregates. Deconvolution of the overall spectra into sums of Gaussian curves more readily displays any contributions of tautomeric forms of the azo dyes resulting from intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The rich variation in UV/vis absorption properties of these anionic azo dyes supports their use as sensitive tools to explore the nanostructures of surfactant aggregates.  相似文献

Chlorosulfonyl-containing naphthol azo compounds were prepared by reaction of the corresponding sulfonate-containing naphthol azo dyes with thionyl chloride in the presence of a catalytic quantity of N,N-dimethylformamide and various solvents. The yields and reaction selectivity of chlorosulfonyl-containing naphthol azo compounds were discussed according to the properties of solvents. It was demonstrated that high chemical selectivity and high yield were achieved by using benzene, toluene or thionyl chloride as solvent. The silane coupling agent 3‐glycidoxypropyl trimethoxylsilane (GPS) was grafted onto the surface of silica gel, P 2 glass beads and TiO 2 oxide particles. FT‐IR, thermogravimetric and elemental analysis were used to characterize the modified particles. The effects of various factors on the GPS grafting efficiency such as catalyst, GPS concentration, reaction temperature and time were studied. After modification with GPS, the xanthene dye rhodamine B and azo dyes 4‐phenylazophenol and 4‐phenylazoaniline, respectively, were grafted on to the particles, which were then used as pigment fillers. The squaraine dye bis(2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)squaraine (SqH) was earlier reported to form J-type dimer aggregates in acetonitrile solutions at higher concentrations. Subsequent studies have suggested that concentration-dependent changes in the absorption spectrum of SqH in acetonitrile could be attributed to shifts in the acid-base equilibrium due to the presence of water as an impurity. In this work, we describe our studies on the effect of varying acid and dye concentration on the absorption spectra of the bromo and iodo substituted dyes, bis(3,5-dibromo-2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)squaraine (SqBr) and bis(3,5-diiodo-2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)squaraine (SqI). Analysis of the changes in the absorption spectra as a function of dye concentration and the nature of the solvent composition confirmed the formation of J-type dimer aggregates in aprotic solvents in this class of dyes. Further confirmation for the formation of the J-type dimer aggregates could be obtained by comparing the differences in the triplet excited state properties of the neutral and aggregated forms of the dyes using time-resolved spectroscopy.  相似文献

A new series of heterocyclic disperse dyes were prepared by diazotization of some 2-aminothiazole derivatives and subsequent coupling with indole compounds. The dyes were characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectra (LC-MS). Solvent effects on their visible absorption spectra were estimated. The color of the dyes is discussed with respect to the substituent therein. The effects of acids and bases on the visible absorption maxima of the dyes are also reported. Replacement of methyl group in the 4-position of the thiazole ring by phenyl group leads to red shift of the absorption maximum due to π-electron-donating properties of the phenyl group, while weak electron-withdrawing chlorine or bromine atom in the para-position of the phenyl group in the 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole fragment induce a small blue shift relative to 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole derivatives. Introduction of an electron-withdrawing 4-nitrophenylsulfonyl group into the thiazole ring produces bathochromic shift of the absorption maximum in all solvents. Cyanuric chloride was utilized as a crosslinking agent in forming a chemical linkage between some direct dyes and the available sites in the macromolecular structure of nylon-6. This chemical treatment was carried out on nylon-6 fabrics before and after being γ-irradiated in air with different radiation doses. The so-called dye fixation of three direct dyes, which contain at least one amino group in their chemical structure, was assessed in terms of extraction in 50% aqueous solution of N, N-dimethylformide. It was found that the dye fixation of the direct dyes under investigation depends essentially on the cyanuric chloride concentration. However, low concentrations of 1% were found to be sufficient to produce good dye fixation. Moreover, nylon-6 fabrics when irradiated prior to dyeing and treatment acquire additional dye fixation. The pH of the dyeing bath and the added solvents were found to play a specific role in the dye fixation process. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
