Resolvent estimates in W−1,p related to strongly coupled‐linear parabolic systems with coupled nonsmooth capacities

We investigate linear parabolic systems with coupled nonsmooth capacities and mixed boundary conditions. We prove generalized resolvent estimates in W^{?1, p} spaces. The method is an appropriate modification of a technique introduced by Agmon to obtain L^p estimates for resolvents of elliptic differential operators in the case of smooth boundary conditions. Asymptotic behavior of the resolvent of an unstable volterra equation with kernel depending on the difference of the arguments

We present the structure of the resolvent of a difference kernel, which allows us to study the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the renewal equation for a given asymptotic behavior of the constant term. An asymptotic representation for the resolvent is obtained under minimal requirements on the moments of the kernel. Similar results are given for integro-differential equations. Generalized Fredholm property and a priori estimates for linear operators on tensor products of Hilbert spaces

For a linear operator acting in a Hilbert space, the generalized Fredholm property (invertibility modulo a certain ideal) is proved to be equivalent to certaina priori estimates. Removability of an Isolated Singularity of Solutions of Nonlinear Elliptic Equations with Absorption

We prove a priori estimates for singular solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations with absorption. An extrapolation theorem for nonlinear approximation and its applications

We prove an extrapolation theorem for the nonlinear m-term approximation with respect to a system of functions satisfying very mild conditions. This theorem allows us to prove endpoint L^p-L^q estimates in nonlinear approximation. As a consequence, some known endpoint estimates can be deduced directly and some new estimates are also obtained. Finally, applications of these new estimates are given to spherical m-widths and m-term approximation of the weighted Besov classes.     

Existence of global strong solution to the micropolar fluid system in a bounded domain

In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem of the micropolar fluid system in a three dimensional bounded domain. We study the resolvent problem of the linearized equations and prove the generation of analytic semigroup and its time decay estimates. In particular, L^p–L^q type estimates are obtained. By use of the L^p–L^q estimates for the semigroup, we prove the existence theorem of global in time solution to the original nonlinear problem for small initial data. Contractivity and Analyticity in l p of Some Approximation of the Heat Equation

We consider the lumped mass method with piecewise linear finite elements in two dimensions. When the triangulation is of Delaunay type it is known that the discrete scheme satisfies a maximum principle. In this work we pursue the analysis and prove that the discrete semi-group is l ^p contractive in a sector, which implies smoothing effects and provide some resolvent estimates.

Continuous dependence on data for bilocal difference equations

The continuous dependence on data is studied for a class of second order difference equations governed by a maximal monotone operator A in a Hilbert space. A nonhomogeneous term f appears in the equation and some bilocal boundary conditions a, b are added. One shows that the function which associates to {a, b, A, f} the solution of this boundary value problem is continuous in a specific sense. One uses the convergence of a sequence of operators in the sense of the resolvent. The problem studied here is the discrete variant of a problem from the continuous case.     

Semi-classical resolvent estimates for the Schrödinger operator on non-compact complete Riemannian manifolds

We prove uniform semi-classical estimates for the resolvent of the Schrödinger operator h ² _g + V (x), 0 < h 1, at a nontrapping energy level E > 0, where V is a real-valued non-negative potential and _g denotes the positive Laplace-Beltrami operator on a non-compact complete Riemannian manifold which may have a nonempty compact smooth boundary.*Partially supported by CNPq (Brazil)     

Essential dimension and the second serre conjecture for exceptional groups

We study the essential dimension of exceptional connected simply connected algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields. In the present paper, we find upper estimates for the essential dimensions of the groupsF ₄ ,E ₆ , andE ₇ . For the groupF ₄ , the upper estimate, thus obtained coincides with the known lower estimate. We also prove the second Serre conjecture for the groupE ₆ and for a function field. Sharp Integral Inequalities of the Hermite–Hadamard Type

We consider a family of two-point quadrature formulae and establish sharp estimates for the remainders under various regularity conditions. Improved forms of certain integral inequalities due to Hermite and Hadamard, Iyengar, Milovanovi and Pecari , and others are obtained as special cases. Our results can also be interpreted as analogues to a theorem of Ostrowski on the deviation of a function from its averages. Furthermore, we establish a generalization of a result of Fink concerning L^p estimates for the remainder of the trapezoidal rule and present the best constants in the error bounds.     

Analytic properties of the S-matrix for interactions with Yukawa-potential tails

We give an explicit analytic expression for the S-matrix in the case of an arbitrary central interaction inside a sphere of finite radius with a Yukawa-potential tail at large distances. Estimates of constants in right-hand sides of Marcinkiewicz’s and Rosenthal’s inequalities

Some optimal asymptotic estimates of constants for the right-hand inequalities of Marcinkiewicz and Rosenthal are derived. These estimates imply some new inequalities for the rate of increase of sums and optimal right-hand estimates for the law of the iterated logarithm. Lp resolvent estimates for magnetic Schrödinger operators with unbounded background fields

We prove L^p and smoothing estimates for the resolvent of magnetic Schrödinger operators. We allow electromagnetic potentials that are small perturbations of a smooth, but possibly unbounded background potential. As an application, we prove an estimate on the location of eigenvalues of magnetic Schrödinger and Pauli operators with complex electromagnetic potentials.
