A notion of an irreducible representation, as well as of a square integrable representation on an arbitrary locally compact groupoid, is introduced. A generalization of a version of Schur's lemma on a locally compact groupoid is given. This is used in order to extend some well-known results from locally compact groups to the case of locally compact groupoids. Indeed, we have proved that if L is a continuous irreducible representation of a compact groupoid G defined by a continuous Hilbert bundle H = (Hu)u∈G^0, then each Hu is finite dimensional. It is also shown that if L is an irreducible representation of a principal locally compact groupoid defined by a Hilbert bundle (G^0, (Hu),μ), then dimHu = 1 (u ∈ G^0). Furthermore it is proved that every square integrable representation of a locally compact groupoid is unitary equivalent to a subrepresentation of the left regular representation. Furthermore, for r-discrete groupoids, it is shown that every irreducible subrepresentation of the left regular representation is square integrable.  相似文献

We establish a formula that expresses the value of the density of the Temlyakov-type integral with defining domain of type A in terms of the integral itself by means of a differential operator. We extend this operator connection to the Temlyakov–Bavrin-type integral of order k. Our study bases on the method of linear differential operators with variable coefficients which is developed by A. Summary Linear Porgramming models for stochastic planning problems and a methodology for solving them are proposed. A production planning problem with uncertainty in demand is used as a test case, but the methodology presented here is applicable to other types of problems as well. In these models, uncertainty in demand is characterized via scenarios. Solutions are obtained for each scenario and then these individual scenario solutions are aggregated to yield an implementable non-anticipative policy. Such an approach makes it possible to model correlated and nonstationary demand as well as a variety of recourse decision types. For computational purposes, two alternative representations are proposed. A compact approach that is suitable for the Simplex method and a splitting variable approach that is suitable for the Interior Point Methods. A crash procedure that generates an advanced starting solution for the Simplex method is developed. Computational results are reported with both the representations. Although some of the models presented here are very large (over 25000 constraints and 75000 variables), our computational experience with these problems is quite encouraging.  相似文献

Skorokhod's representation theorem states that if on a Polish space,there is a weakly convergent sequence of probability measures μnw→μ0,as n →∞,then there exist a probability space(Ω,F,P) and a sequence of random elements Xnsuch that Xn→ X almost surely and Xnhas the distribution function μn,n = 0,1,2,... We shall extend the Skorokhod representation theorem to the case where if there are a sequence of separable metric spaces Sn,a sequence of probability measures μnand a sequence of measurable mappings n such that μnn-1w→μ0,then there exist a probability space(Ω,F,P) and Sn-valued random elements Xndefined on Ω,with distribution μnand such that n(Xn) → X0 almost surely. In this paper, a revisited interval approach for linear regression is proposed. In this context, according to the Midpoint-Radius (MR) representation, the uncertainty attached to the set-valued model can be decoupled from its trend. The estimated interval model is built from interval input-output data with the objective of covering all available data. The constrained optimization problem is addressed using a linear programming approach in which a new criterion is proposed for representing the global uncertainty of the interval model. The potential of the proposed method is illustrated by simulation examples.  相似文献

We prove a uniform boundary Harnack inequality for nonnegative harmonic functions of the fractional Laplacian on arbitrary open set D. This yields a unique representation of such functions as integrals against measures on D c ∪ {∞} satisfying an integrability condition. This paper first studies the solution of a complex matrix equation X - AXB = C, obtains an explicit solution of the equation by means of characteristic polynomial, and then studies the quaternion matrix equation X - A X B = C, characterizes the existence of a solution to the matrix equation, and derives closed-form solutions of the matrix equation in explicit forms by means of real representations of quaternion matrices. A general design for a distributed system is presented which characterizes system recognition of external events as a sheaf in a Grothendieck topos on a category of diagrams. The information that the system may derive from this sheaf involves transitions through a state space constructed from a collection of topoi interconnected by geometric morphisms. Similarities of this design with natural neural systems leads to the premise that cognitive processes involve the construction and manipulation of sheaf-like structures.  相似文献
