In line with the Concentration–Compactness Principle due to P.-L. Lions [19], we study the lack of compactness of Sobolev embedding of W1,n(Rn)W1,n(Rn), n?2n?2, into the Orlicz space LΦαLΦα determined by the Young function Φα(s)Φα(s) behaving like eα|s|n/(n−1)−1eα|s|n/(n1)1 as |s|→+∞|s|+. In the light of this result we also study existence of ground state solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic problems involving critical growth of the Trudinger–Moser type in the whole space RnRn.  相似文献

We study the long-time behavior of solutions to nonlinear Schrödinger equations with some critical rough potential of a|x|−2a|x|2 type. The new ingredients are the interaction Morawetz-type inequalities and Sobolev norm property associated with Pa=−Δ+a|x|−2Pa=Δ+a|x|2. We use such properties to obtain the scattering theory for the defocusing energy-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with inverse square potential in energy space H1(Rn)H1(Rn).  相似文献

We prove that if a set S⊂RnSRn is Zariski closed at infinity, then the algebra of polynomials bounded on S cannot be finitely generated. It is a new proof of a fact already known to Plaumann and Scheiderer (2012) [1]. On the way we show that if the ring R[ζ1,…,ζk]⊂R[X]R[ζ1,,ζk]R[X] contains the ideal (ζ1,…,ζk)R[X](ζ1,,ζk)R[X], then the mapping (ζ1,…,ζk):Rn→Rk(ζ1,,ζk):RnRk is finite.  相似文献

Let Ω   be a smooth bounded simply connected domain in R2R2. We investigate the existence of critical points of the energy Eε(u)=1/2Ω|∇u|2+1/(4ε2)Ω(1−|u|2)2Eε(u)=1/2Ω|u|2+1/(4ε2)Ω(1|u|2)2, where the complex map u has modulus one and prescribed degree d on the boundary. Under suitable nondegeneracy assumptions on Ω, we prove existence of critical points for small ε. More can be said when the prescribed degree equals one. First, we obtain existence of critical points in domains close to a disk. Next, we prove that critical points exist in “most” of the domains.  相似文献

Much more: given an (bn)(bn) in [0,1[[0,1[ and ε>0ε>0, the x  -set such that |xn−bn|<ε|xnbn|<ε modulo 1 for n   large enough has dimension 1. The paper aims to investigate the convergence of the q  -Bernstein polynomials Bn,q(f;x)Bn,q(f;x) attached to rational functions in the case q>1q>1. The problem reduces to that for the partial fractions (x−α)−j(xα)j, j∈NjN. The already available results deal with cases, where either the pole α   is simple or α≠q−mαqm, m∈N0mN0. Consequently, the present work is focused on the polynomials Bn,q(f;x)Bn,q(f;x) for the functions of the form f(x)=(x−q−m)−jf(x)=(xqm)j with j?2j?2. For such functions, it is proved that the interval of convergence of {Bn,q(f;x)}{Bn,q(f;x)} depends not only on the location, but also on the multiplicity of the pole – a phenomenon which has not been considered previously.  相似文献

Under appropriate assumptions the higher order energy decay rates for the damped wave equations with variable coefficients c(x)utt−div(A(x)∇u)+a(x)ut=0c(x)uttdiv(A(x)u)+a(x)ut=0 in RnRn are established. In this paper we compute: the Schwarz genus of the Stiefel manifold Vk(Rn)Vk(Rn) with respect to the action of the Weyl group Wk:=(Z/2)k?SkWk:=(Z/2)k?Sk, and the Lusternik–Schnirelmann category of the quotient space Vk(Rn)/WkVk(Rn)/Wk. Furthermore, these results are used in estimating the number of critically outscribed parallelotopes around a strictly convex body, and Birkhoff–James orthogonal bases of a normed finite dimensional vector space.  相似文献

We establish symmetrization results for the solutions of the linear fractional diffusion equation tu+(−Δ)σ/2u=ftu+(Δ)σ/2u=f and its elliptic counterpart hv+(−Δ)σ/2v=fhv+(Δ)σ/2v=f, h>0h>0, using the concept of comparison of concentrations. The results extend to the nonlinear version, tu+(−Δ)σ/2A(u)=ftu+(Δ)σ/2A(u)=f, but only when the nondecreasing function A:R+R+A:R+R+ is concave. In the elliptic case, complete symmetrization results are proved for B(v)+(−Δ)σ/2v=fB(v)+(Δ)σ/2v=f when B(v)B(v) is a convex nonnegative function for v>0v>0 with B(0)=0B(0)=0, and partial results hold when B is concave. Remarkable counterexamples are constructed for the parabolic equation when A is convex, resp. for the elliptic equation when B   is concave. It is natural to ask whether (X1,X2,?,Xn)(X1,X2,?,Xn) and (Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U))(Q1(U),Q2(U),?,Qn(U)) can coincide almost surely for some special U. In this paper, we give a positive answer to this question by construction. We then apply this result to a general behavioral investment model with a law-invariant preference measure and develop a universal framework to link the problem to its quantile formulation. We show that any optimal investment output should be anti-comonotonic with the market pricing kernel. Unlike previous studies, our approach avoids making the assumption that the pricing kernel is atomless, and consequently, we overcome one of the major difficulties encountered when one considers behavioral economic equilibrium models in which the pricing kernel is a yet-to-be-determined unknown random variable. The method is applicable to general models such as risk sharing model.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the one-dimensional Schrodinger operator L(q)L(q) with complex-valued periodic potential q   when q∈L1[0,1]qL1[0,1] and qn=0qn=0 for n=0,−1,−2,...n=0,1,2,..., where qnqn are the Fourier coefficients of q   with respect to the system {ei2πnx}{ei2πnx}. We prove that the Bloch eigenvalues are (2πn+t)2(2πn+t)2 for n∈ZnZ, t∈CtC and find explicit formulas for the Bloch functions. Then we consider the inverse problem for this operator.  相似文献
