In EAST, synchrotron radiation is emitted by runaway electrons in the infrared band, which can be observed by infrared cameras. This synchrotron radiation is mainly emitted by passing runaway electrons with tens of Me V energy. A common feature of radiation dominated by passing runaway electrons is that it is strongest on the high field side. However,the deeply trapped runaway electrons cannot reach the high field side in principle. Therefore, in this case, the high field side radiation is expected to be weak. This paper reports for the first time that the synchrotron radiation from trapped runaway electrons dominates that from passing runaway electrons and is identifiable in an image. Although the synchrotron radiation dominated by trapped runaway electrons can be observed in experiment, the proportion of trapped runaway electrons is very low.  相似文献

We treat high-energy neutrino production in gamma ray bursts (GRBs). Detailed calculations of photomeson neutrino production are presented for the collapsar model, where internal nonthermal synchrotron radiation is the primary target photon field, and the supranova model, where external pulsar-wind synchrotron radiation provides important additional target photons. Detection of greater, similar 10 TeV neutrinos from GRBs with Doppler factors > or approximately 200, inferred from gamma-ray observations, would support the supranova model. Detection of < or approximately 10 TeV neutrinos is possible for neutrinos formed from nuclear production. Only the most powerful bursts at fluence levels > or approximately 3 x 10(-4) erg cm(-2) offer a realistic prospect for detection of nu(mu).  相似文献

We present a model describing high power stable broadband coherent synchrotron radiation (CSR) in the terahertz frequency region in an electron storage ring. The model includes distortion of bunch shape from the synchrotron radiation (SR), which enhances higher frequency coherent emission, and limits to stable emission due to an instability excited by the SR wakefield. It gives a quantitative explanation of several features of the recent observations of CSR at the BESSY II storage ring. We also use this model to optimize the performance of a source for stable CSR emission.  相似文献

根据同步曲率辐射理论推导了在等离子体环境中,不同磁场条件下的相对论性电子的吸收系数和发射系数表达式,计算了电子的发射强度,并且在此基础上研究了同步曲率辐射机制的脉泽效应.研究了两种磁场位型,第一种是强度均匀但弯曲的磁场,第二种是偶极磁场,结果发现了一些偶极磁场下特有的辐射特性.考虑到在天体的环境下电子具有的不同的能谱分布,分别选用了三种典型的能谱分布(幂率分布,高斯分布,热分布)进行了研究,通过计算负吸收和脉泽放大效应在发射强度上的表现后, 发现在某些天体物理环境中,同步曲率辐射在等离子体中的确存在脉泽放大效应.这些研究结果对太阳系中行星外层辐射的研究和宇宙中的射电高亮温度等问题的研究可能提供有益的帮助. 关键词: 同步曲率辐射 负吸收 脉泽效应  相似文献

In the framework of a model based on the gravitational field of the Kerr black hole, we turn to investigate the kinematic behavior of extragalactic jets. We analytically calculate the observable velocities and accelerations along any geodesic. Then, by numerical calculations, we apply our results to a geodesic, typical of the M87 jet, and probe our results by confrontation to recent observations. A transition from non-relativistic to ultrarelativistic speeds at subparsec scale is highlighted. This transition comes sooner and more abruptly than in models based on magnetic paradigm, which indicates that we need a weaker magnetic field to explain observed synchrotron radiation. We attribute the ejection phenomenon to the repulsive effect of the gravitomagnetic Kerr field.  相似文献

It has been pointed out previously in this article that neutron production with synchrotron radiation is feasible. A survey of the field of neutron-induced reactions is presented to describe some of the current topics of interest in the neutron-nuclear physics field. The special properties of neutron production by synchrotron radiation from LEP, especially with respect to polarization and time structure, make this source attractive to consider in the pursuit of nuclear structure studies with neutrons.  相似文献

An optical channel for extracting, transporting, and applying (to a detector) IR synchrotron radiation covering a wide wavelength range is developed. The design and study of optical systems with long-focus entrance objective and mirror lenses, as well as with a field condenser lens, are reported. Practical use of IR optics combined with integrated and position-sensitive detectors in accelerator experiments with synchrotron radiation is described.  相似文献

Relatively large fluxes of trapped electrons with energy above several tens of MeV in the inner radiation belt, established according to low altitude satellite measurements, invoked the question of their production of synchrotron radiation in geomagnetic field. Based on experimental data on electrons, rough estimate of the spectral density of synchrotron radiation at the Equator is obtained in the region of maximum emissivity. Relatively low value of the radiation flux implies that only precise measurements at 1 GHz allowing to measure the directivity of emissions may be relevant.  相似文献

We report on the first energy-resolved (retarding field mode) spin polarized photoemission measurement from a Ni(111) single crystal using synchrotron radiation from the ACO storage ring at LURE(ORSAY) It is shown that exchange effects can be detected for electron states well below the Fermi energy and that spin polarized, constant-initial-state spectroscopy of ferromagnets using synchrotron radiation is feasible.  相似文献

 从虚光子的康普顿散射出发,给出了一种对同步辐射进行解释的新理论。当带电粒子在加速器中做圆周运动时,加速器的磁场可以看作周期静磁场,可以等效为虚光子。当该虚光子与加速器中运动的带电粒子发生康普顿散射时,就会转换为实光子辐射出去。给出了同步辐射实光子的波长的计算公式,并从合肥国家同步实验室和北京同步辐射装置的峰值特征波长以及斯坦福直线加速器中心的 Ec/ Ee3值、强磁场中子星极区的同步辐射等方面验证了该公式的正确性。  相似文献

Evidence of coherent synchrotron radiation has been reported recently at the electron storage rings of several light source facilities. The main features of the observations are (i) a radiation wavelength short compared to the nominal bunch length, and (ii) a coherent signal showing recurrent bursts of duration much shorter than the radiation damping time, but with spacing equal to a substantial fraction of the damping time. After eliminating reflections from the walls of the plasma container, we observed polarization of the coherent synchrotron radiation from a relativistic electron beam rotating in a plasma. Several features of the polarization agree well with calculations based on the single particle synchrotron radiation theory. A particular polarization ratio (Fig. 3) does not, however. We deduce from this direct diffraction of the radiation by the beam electrons. This is strong evidence for beam-particle bunches of size cm. Also, there must be some absorption of the extraordinary wave to account for the observations. We suggest a way to apply these results to measure the pitch angle of the beam.Work supported by Army Research Office.  相似文献

We discuss the possibility of observing distant accelerators of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays in synchrotron gamma rays. Protons propagating away from their acceleration sites produce extremely energetic electrons during photopion interactions with cosmic microwave background photons. If the accelerator is embedded in a magnetized region, these electrons will emit high energy synchrotron radiation. The resulting synchrotron source is expected to be pointlike, steady, and detectable in the GeV-TeV energy range if the magnetic field is at the nanoGauss level.  相似文献

Paleontologists are quite recent newcomers among the users of X-ray synchrotron imaging techniques at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). Studies of the external morphological characteristics of a fossil organism are not sufficient to extract all the information for a paleontological study. Nowadays observations of internal structures become increasingly important, but these observations should be non-destructive in order to preserve the important specimens. Conventional microtomography allows performing part of these investigations. Nevertheless, the best microtomographic images are obtained using third-generation synchrotrons producing hard X-rays, such as the ESRF. Firstly, monochromatisation avoids beam hardening that is frequently strong for paleontological samples. Secondly, the high beam intensity available at synchrotron radiation sources allows rapid data acquisition at very high spatial resolutions, resulting in precise mapping of the internal structures of the sample. Thirdly, high coherence leads to additional imaging possibilities: phase contrast radiography, phase contrast microtomography and holotomography. These methods greatly improve the image contrast and therefore allow studying fossils that cannot be investigated by conventional microtomography due to a high degree of mineralisation or low absorption contrast. Thanks to these different properties and imaging techniques, a synchrotron radiation source and the ESRF in particular appears as an almost ideal investigation tool for paleontology. Using a diamond anvil cell (DAC), high pressure 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy has been performed with the nuclear forward scattering of synchrotron radiation. We used monochromatized synchrotron radiation from an in‐vacuum type undulator as a high‐density strong Mössbauer source with a quite small beam size. Pressure‐induced magnetic hyperfine interactions at 57Fe in SrFeO2.97 has been detected at 74 GPa by a quantum‐beat modulation of the decay rate after collective nuclear excitation with the synchrotron radiation pulse. Evidence for a transition from antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism of Fe in SrFeO2.97 at 74 GPa and 300 K has been obtained from the nuclear forward scattering under a transverse magnetic field.  相似文献

We discuss the two-slit experiment and the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) experiment in the magnetic field. In such a case the electron moving in the magnetic field produces so called synchrotron radiation. In other words the photons are emitted from the points of the electron trajectory and it means that the trajectory of electron is visible in the synchrotron radiation spectrum. The axiomatic system of quantum mechanics does not enable to define the trajectory of the elementary particle. The two-slit experiment and AB experiment in a magnetic field was never performed and it means that they are the missing experiments of quantum mechanics. The extension of the discussion to the cosmical rays moving in the magnetic field of the Saturn magnetosphere and its rings is mentioned. It is related to the probe CASSINI. The solution of the problem in the framework of the hydrodynamical model of quantum mechanics and the nonlinear quantum mechanics is also mentioned.  相似文献
