Let I be any index set. We consider the Banach algebra \mathbb C e+ l2(I){\mathbb {C} e+ \ell^2(I)} with the Hadamard product, and prove that its Bass and topological stable ranks are both equal to 1. We also characterize divisors, maximal ideals, closed ideals and closed principal ideals. For I=\mathbb N{I=\mathbb {N}} we also characterize all prime z-ideals in this Banach algebra.  相似文献

Let S be a finite direct sum of Dedekind prime rings. We shall study those subrings R of S such that R contains a suitable ideal B of S The aim is to derive general properties of R from those of S. For instance we show that every ideal of R which is comaximal with B is invertible. We also show that if R is right Noetherian then R has right Krull dimension 1 and every right ideal of R which is comaximal with B is projective, and R has the right Artin-Rees property if and only if the maximal ideals of R which contain B commute with each other.  相似文献

A Banach algebra \A is called contractible if every bounded derivation from A into any Banach A bimodule is inner. In this article we show that a l 1 -Munn algebra LM(A, P) is contractible if and only if A is contractible and LM(A, P) is unital. As a consequence, if a semigroup algebra l 1(S) is contractible, then S is finite. March 30, 1999  相似文献

Abstract. Various quotient rings of rings B of Banach algebra A-valued continuous functions on a completely regular Hausdorff Space X are constructed in terms of continuous functions defined on dense open subsets of X taking values in the maximal quotient ring of the Banach algebra A. This extends the results proved by N. J. Fine, L., Gillman and J. Lambek (1965) for the case of A, the field of real numbers. The pattern is similar and utilizes as well as generalises the results proved for algebras of multipliers of B by C. A. Akemann, G. K. Pedersen and J. Tomiyama (1973). The techniques combine those from algebra, analysis and topology. The details of the cases when A is the normed division algebra of real quaternions or the operator algebra B(H) of a Hilbert space H are given to illustrate our results. We prove that if A is a complex, unital semisimple Banach algebra and B is a complex, unital Banach algebra having a separating family of finite-dimensional irreducible representations, then any unital linear operator from A onto B which preserves the spectral radius is a Jordan morphism.  相似文献

Let A be a unital C*-algebra of real rank zero and B be a unital semisimple complex Banach algebra. We characterize linear maps from A onto B preserving different essential spectral sets and quantities such as the essential spectrum, the (left, right) essential spectrum, the Weyl spectrum, the index and the essential spectral radius.  相似文献

Let S be a discrete abelian cancellation semigroup with identity. We consider an algebra of generalized analytic functions defined on the semigroup $ \hat S $ of semicharacters of S that is wider than the Arens-Singer algebra. We show that the strong boundary and the Shilov boundary of this algebra are unions of maximal subgroups of $ \hat S $ . If S contains no nontrivial simple ideals, then both boundaries coincide with the character group of S. In this case we calculate the Gelfand spectrum of the algebra under consideration.  相似文献

In this article the universal Poisson enveloping algebra for a binary-Lie algebra is constructed. Taking a basis 𝔹 of a binary-Lie algebra B, we consider the symmetric algebra S(B) of polynomials in the elements of 𝔹. We consider two products in S(B), the usual product of polynomials fg and the braces {f, g}, defined by the product in B and the Leibniz rule. This algebra is a general Poisson algebra. We find an ideal I of S(B) such that the factor algebra S(B)/I is the universal Poisson envelope of B. We provide some examples of this construction for known binary-Lie algebras.  相似文献

An algebraic extension of the algebra A(E), where E is a compactum in with nonempty connected interior, leads to a Banach algebra B of functions that are holomorphic on some analytic set Ko 2 with boundary bK and continuous up to bK. The singular points of the spectrum of B and their defects are investigated. For the case in which B is a uniform algebra, the depth of B in the algebra C(bK) is estimated. In particular, conditions under which B is maximal on bK are obtained.  相似文献

Let L be a finite dimensional Lie algebra over a field F. It is well known that the solvable radical S(L) of the algebra L is a characteristic ideal of L if char F = 0, and there are counterexamples to this statement in case char F = p > 0. We prove that the sum S(L) of all solvable ideals of a Lie algebra L (not necessarily finite dimensional) is a characteristic ideal of L in the following cases: 1) char F = 0; 2) S(L) is solvable and its derived length is less than log2 p.  相似文献

Nylen and Rodman [NR] introduced the notion of spectral radius property in Banach algebras in order to generalize a classical theorem of Yamamoto on the asymptotic behaviour of the singular values of ann xn matrix. In this paper we prove a conjecture of theirs in the affirmative, namely that any unital Banach algebra has the spectral radius property. In fact a slightly more general spectral property holds. We show that for every element which has spectral points which are not of finite multiplicity, the essential spectral radius is the supremum of the set of absolute values of the spectral points that are not of finite multiplicity.  相似文献

Let L be a J-subspace lattice on a Banach space X and Alg L the associated J-subspace lattice algebra. Let A be a standard operator subalgebra (i.e., it contains all finite rank operators in AlgL) of AlgL and M■B(X) the Alg L-bimodule. It is shown that every linear Jordan triple derivation from A into M is a derivation, and that every generalized Jordan (triple) derivation from A into M is a generalized derivation.  相似文献

Some similar results to those for maximal (two-sided) ideals in a compact semigroupS are obtained for maximal left ideals inS, with one exception i.e. the intersection of all maximal left ideals inS may be empty. The maximal left ideals in the convolution semigroup of measures onS are also considered.  相似文献

This paper merges some classifications of G-M-type Banach spaces simplifically, discusses the condition of K 0(B(X)) = 0 for operator algebra B(X) on a Banach space X, and obtains a result to improve Laustsen's sufficient condition, gives an example to show that XX 2 is not a sufficient condition of K 0(B(X)) = 0.  相似文献

Let R be a reduced ring with Q its Martindale symmetric ring of quotients, and let B be the complete Boolean algebra of all idempotents in C, where C is the extended centroid of R. It is proved that every minimal prime ideal of R must be of the form mQR for some maximal ideal m of B but the converse is in general not true. In addition, if R is centrally closed or has only finitely many minimal prime ideals, then the converse also holds. By applying the explicit expression, many properties of minimal prime ideals of reduced rings are realized more easily.  相似文献

We prove that an isometry T between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital Banach algebras A and B is extended to a real-linear isometry up to translation between these Banach algebras. While a unital isometry between unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras need not be multiplicative, we prove in this paper that if A is commutative and A or B are semisimple, then (T(eA))−1T is extended to an isometric real algebra isomorphism from A onto B. In particular, A−1 is isometric as a metric space to B−1 if and only if they are isometrically isomorphic to each other as metrizable groups if and only if A is isometrically isomorphic to B as a real Banach algebra; it is compared by the example of ?elazko concerning on non-isomorphic Banach algebras with the homeomorphically isomorphic invertible groups. Isometries between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital closed standard operator algebras on Banach spaces are investigated and their general forms are given.  相似文献
