Semi-infinite systems are considered with long-range surface fields B z –(1+r) for large distancesz from the surface. The influence of such fields on the global phase diagram and on the critical singularities of depinning transitions is studied within Landau theory. For |B|0, the correlation length diverges as b –1/2 withb=|Bln|B–(1+r). For finiteB, t v withv =(2+r)/(2+2r) wheret measures the distance from bulk coexistence. In the latter case, a Ginzburg criterion leads to the upper critical dimensiond *=(2+3r)/(2+r).  相似文献

Arguments are presented to demonstrate that exact equality relations exist between the critical exponents which characterize the macroscopic conductivity e and the macroscopic elastic stiffness moduli C e of percolating systems of any dimensionality. Using the notation e p t , C e p T for the critical behavior of a randomly diluted system slightly above the percolation threshold p c , (ppp c >0) and e |p|s , C e |p|S for the critical behavior of a random mixture of normal and perfectly conducting or normal and perfectly rigid constituents slightly below that threshold, (ppp c <0) we show that T=t+2 and S=s, where is the percolation correlation length critical exponent |p| (p0).  相似文献

We investigate tachyon dynamics with an inverse power-law potential V () . We find global attractors of the dynamics leading to a dust behavior for > 2 and to an accellerating universe for 0 < 2. We study linear cosmological perturbations and we show that metric fluctuations are constant on large scales in both cases. In the presence of an additional perfect fluid, the tachyon with this potential behaves as dust or dark energy.  相似文献

Interface delocalization or depinning transitions such as wetting or surface induced disorder are considered. At these transitions, the correlation length for transverse correlations parallel to the surface diverges. These correlations are studied in the framework of Landau theory. In a study of compressible flow, we have tracked the motion of particles that float on a turbulent body of water. The second moment of longitudinal velocity differences scales as in incompressible flow. However the separation R 2(t) of particle pairs does not vary in time according to the Richardson–Kolmogorov prediction R 2(t)t 3. As expected, the self diffusion d 2(t) shows a crossover between ballistic motion d 2(t)t 2 at small t and uncorrelated motion d 2(t)t in the longtime limit.  相似文献

The potentials of an electromagnetic field of multipoles in a dielectric, which is realized by a dielectric sphere having a perfectly conducting surface, are derived. The diagonal values of the energy for thez component of the angular momentum and the square of the angular momentum of the field are determined and also the ratio between thez component of the angular momentum and the energy and the ratio between the square of the angular momentum and the square of the energy. It is shown that the total angular momentum can be divided in the usual way into orbital and spin parts but that these parts cannot be interpreted as the orbital and spin angular momentum because their eigenvalues cannot be the eigenvalues of any operator of infinitesimal rotation. In the commutation rules of a multipole field the vector character of the field is to a certain extent suppressed and the spin of the photon in a state with a certain value of the energy, parityz component of the angular momentum and the square of the angular momentum is not defined.

It is well known that in the non-depleted pump approximation, the efficiency of a second harmonic generation (SHG) of a guided mode in a non-linear optical waveguide increases quadratically with the interaction length (P 2 L 2), and linearly (P 2 L) in the erenkov regime. The efficiency of the erenkov SHG in the waveguide with a non-linear substrate and linear guiding layer is known to be strongly peaked at a particular pump wavelength and a particular waveguide thickness, with the erenkov angle approaching zero. The known theory predicts an infinite efficiency value at the peak, however. In this contribution, a simple integral expression for the SHG efficiency in the erenkov regime is derived. For large erenkov angles and interaction lengths it yields the expected P 2 L dependence, while in the limit of small erenkov angles the dependence is found to have the form of P L 3/2, possessing also a finite value at the efficiency peak. The condition determining the accurate position of the efficiency peak in the waveguide thickness–pump wavelength plane is given, too.  相似文献

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

The vapour jets of electrode material of a short-time high-intensity electric discharge
The velocity of vapours from electrodes and the values of the electric gradient of the channel were measured. An explanation is given of the dependence of the discharge rate of the vapours on the electrode material and the thermal origin of the jets is confirmed. The validity of the results is shown for the case of a different experimental arrangement, or the formation of other types of discharges on electrodes.

The microstructure of specimens of low-alloy Cr-Mo steel subjected to various heat treatments and various plastic deformations is studied by transmission electron microscopy. The observations indicate that the decisive factors which control the coercive forceH c, the initial permeability i and the Rayleigh constant are the density and the arrangement of dislocations. The precipitates have only a secondary effect. The observed linear dependencesH c 1/2, i –1/2, –1 ( —dislocation density) are in full agreement with the theoretical predictions.Dedicated to Academician Vladimír Hajko on the occasion of his 65th birthday.  相似文献

We have performed Muon Spin Relaxation (SR) measurements of several heavy fermion systems: UNi2Al3 (single crystal), UPd2Al3 (single crystal) and U2PtC2 (polycrystal). ZF -SR measurements of UNi2Al3 show magnetic order below the Néel temperatureT N=4.6K, with the muon precession frequency(T 0)=2.5MHz at low temperatures. The local field distribution obtained at low temperatures in UNi2Al3 resembles that of the incommensurate spin density wave (SDW) system (TMTSF)2PF6, suggesting an incommensurate spin arrangement in UNi2Al3. TF -SR measurements give the penetration depth(T 0)=6100Å for UPd2Al3 and(T 0)=7000Å for U2PtC2 respectively. Since UPd2Al3 and U2PtC2 are clean superconductors (/l-0), we can combine n s/m* with the Sommerfeld constant n s 1/3 m* to calculate the Fermi temperatureT F 3/4–1/4, which represents the characteristic energy scale of the superconducting carriers. We obtainT C/TF 0.01 for both UPd2Al3 and U2PtC2, comparable to other exotic superconductors, but quite different from simple metal BCS superconductors, whereT C/TF 0.01.  相似文献

The controversial 2-d, 3-state chiral Potts model is studied using transfer matrix finite size scaling. at =0, we find dq N/dN –4/5, whereq is the wavevector, the chiral field, andN the strip width (N=4–10). The result is consistent with den Nijs's crossover exponent =1/6. With surface fields on the infinite free boundaries, exponents associated with bulk magnetizationy H, surface magnetizationy H, and surface susceptibility are computed vs. ; results are similar for or to the infinite direction. Preliminary results are given for the bulk specific heat critical amplitudes, to test the universality of amplitude ratios. The interface wetting line is located for 01/4 using simple transfer matrix calculations of surface tensions in the solid-on-solid approximation. Overhangs or bubbles seem relatively unimportant at all temperatures.  相似文献

A new method is proposed for calculating the energy in certain special points of the Brillouin zone. The wave functions of valence and conduction electrons are given in the form of the linear combination of plane waves and the orthogonality condition of these functions to the wave functions of lower states is replaced by the repulsive potential. The practical application of this very simple method is illustrated on the energy spectrum of silicon in the centre of the Brillouin zone. It is proved that the results are comparable with some other methods, e. g. the orthogonalized plane-wave method.
