An environmentally stable, repetition rate tunable, all-polarization-maintaining, Er-doped pulse fiber laser with a single-wall carbon nanotubes saturated absorber is demonstrated. The ring laser cavity includes a delay line enabling a tunable repetition rate to vary from 35.52 MHz to 35.64 MHz with continuous mode-locked operation. The laser output parameters confirm that the tunable mode-locked operations are stable. High environmental stability is also confirmed by the -130 dBc/Hz low phase noise, a 70-dB signal-to-noise ratio of radio frequency signals, a low amplitude fluctuation of 5.76 × 10-4, and a low fluctuation of reoetition rate of 12 Hz. A passively mode-locked all-fiber ring laser is constructed based on all-solid Yb-doped photonic bandgap fibers (AS-Yb-PBGF), which provides the laser gain and anomalous dispersion simultaneously. Without any other dispersion compensators, the cavity is simple, compact, and maintenance- and alignment-free. The characteristics of wave-breaking-free operation in the laser are investigated by means of numerical simulations using the split-step Fourier method. The approximately parabolic pulses can be generated and evolved for maintaining the normal group-velocity dispersion intracavity, when the length of the single-mode fiber is between 2 and 4 m. The obtained highest energy of the output pulse is up to 2.27 nJ with the pulse duration of 8.61 ps, corresponding to the time-bandwidth product of 10.05. By dechirping out of cavity, the pulse duration is 0.70 ps. 相似文献

建立理论模型,讨论了非线性偏振旋转全光纤锁模激光器的锁模过程、谐波过程以及导致激光器锁模运行难以稳定的影响因素.讨论了采用啁啾脉冲光谱滤波产生脉冲自振幅调制、增加激光器锁模稳定性和自启动能力的机理以及非线性偏振旋转与啁啾脉冲光谱滤波相结合实现锁模的物理过程和脉冲演化过程.研制出全光纤结构的超短脉冲掺Yb~(3+)光纤环形激光器,采用非线性偏振旋转和啁啾脉冲光谱滤波相结合的锁模技术,实现了激光器锁模的开机自启动和高稳定运行.对激光器进行了长期运行稳定性、锁模开机自启动能力、锁模输出参数可重复性监测.锁模脉冲中心波长1052.9 nm,谱宽9.1 nm,脉冲能量4.25 nJ,脉冲宽度17.8 ps.运行期间,各参数波动均小于0.3%.开机自启动能力和可重复性测试显示,激光器可实现一键自启动,启动后各参数可重复精度在0.55%以内. 相似文献

A wide-band tunable passively Q-switched all-fiber ring laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) technique is demonstrated. The NPR-induced intensity-dependent loss effect acts as an artificial saturable absorber, which was used to achieve the Q-switched operation with a low pump threshold of about 25 mW. Taking advantage of the intracavity birefringence-induced spectral filtering effect, the central wavelength of Q-switched pulse can be continuously tuned from 1543.4 to 1592.4 nm by simply rotating the PCs. 相似文献

在考虑增益、损耗、群速度色散、自相位调制、快速可饱和吸收体等各种参数同时作用情况下,分析了非线性偏振旋转效应自启动锁模机理,研究了腔体参数与锁模脉冲之间的关系,并给出飞秒被动锁模环形腔掺Er3+光纤激光器实验原理。实验采用性能稳定的980nm半导体激光器作为抽运源,高掺杂短长度掺Er3+光纤作为增益介质,利用非线性偏振旋转锁模技术,得到了稳定的飞秒自起振锁模光脉冲。抽运功率为23mW时,激光器输出锁模脉冲中心波长1552nm,3dB带宽为7.6nm,重复频率14.0MHz,平均输出功率0.43mW,自起振锁模泵浦阈值功率11.5mW,并观测到了稳定的高阶锁模脉冲输出。该激光器与报道过的相同结构光纤激光器相比,自起振泵浦阈值低、脉冲能量高、稳定性好,且频谱边带幅度小。 相似文献

利用非线性光环形镜(NOLM)的可饱和吸收特性实现了可自启动的2 m全光纤高能量被动锁模掺铥光纤激光器。当泵浦功率大于3 W时,激光器工作在连续或不稳定脉冲运转状态;泵浦功率达到4.69 W后,输出为自启动锁模脉冲,重复频率4.26 MHz,中心波长2 061.5 nm,光谱半极大宽度18.1 nm,平均输出功率8.8 mW;继续增加泵浦功率到最大值7.56 W,可以得到中心波长2 062.2 nm、光谱半极大宽度17.1 nm、斜率效率为6.2%、脉冲宽度和能量分别为424 fs和65.6 nJ的稳定锁模脉冲。这是目前已报道的在未经放大情况下脉冲能量最高的2 m锁模脉冲光纤激光器。 相似文献

The properties of an ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber laser, passively mode-locked by nonlinear polarization rotation are investigated in this work. Cartographies of mode-locking regime versus halfwave plates orientations are presented for several values of the total cavity dispersion and for different pump powers. Bistability between the continuous and the mode-locking regimes is pointed out. The effect of the total group velocity dispersion is described with a master mode-locking equation. The operational parameters including the polarization controlling and the pump power in a nonlinear polarization rotation-based passively mode-locked fiber laser are studied in this paper.The carrier rate equations of the activated erbium-doped fiber are first employed together with the nonlinear Shro¨dinger equations to reveal the relation between the operational parameters and the output state of the passively mode-locked fiber laser.The numerical and experimental results demonstrate that the output state of the mode-locked laser varies with the polarization controlling and the pump power.The periodicity of the polarization controlling is observed.With given pump power,there exists a set of polarization controlling under which the ultra-short pulse can be generated.With given polarization controlling,the mode-locked state can be maintained generally except for some particular values of pump power.Three shapes of the output optical spectra from the fiber cavity can be identified when the pump power changes.The results in this paper provide a comprehensive insight into the operation of the nonlinear polarization rotation-based passively mode-locked fiber laser. 相似文献

We have studied the mechanism of soliton formation in a passively mode-locked fibre ring laser when the gain is increased. We show experimentally that new soliton pulses in the laser are generated by soliton shaping of dispersive waves. Our observation is further confirmed by numerical simulations where an improved model is used that takes into account explicitly the polarization dispersion effect and discrete saturable absorber effect. 相似文献

Multiple pulses with broadband spectrum generation are experimentally obtained in passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring lasers based on nonlinear polarization rotation, which is achieved by incorporating a length of highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber in the laser cavity. The temporal and spectral dynamic behaviors of multipulse bunching states are demonstrated. 提出一种基于Jones矩阵的非线性偏振旋转锁模光纤激光器数值模型, 对偏振控制器波片方位角的描述具有物理意义清晰的优点. 数值仿真得到均方根宽度为0.28 ps的超短脉冲, 时域对称且振幅稳定. 搭建了非线性偏振旋转锁模光纤激光器, 系统可以自启动, 得到了重复频率为67.35 MHz的锁模脉冲输出. 数值仿真和实验结果都表明偏振控制器两个波片的方位角α1和α2都具有周期性, 周期分别为180°和90°. 由于随机双折射的影响, 实验测得的波片方位角调谐范围比数值仿真的结果小, 这一点通过在数值仿真模型中加入随机双折射的作用而得到证明. 相似文献

实验研究了基于掺Yb偏振型大模场面积光子晶体光纤的孤子锁模激光器,获得了高脉冲能量的飞秒激光输出. 激光器基于线形腔结构,利用光栅对补偿腔内色散,并通过半导体可饱和吸收镜实现锁模的自启动. 实验中从振荡级直接获得了平均功率为700mW, 重复频率为47.3MHz(对应于14.8 nJ的单脉冲能量),脉冲宽度为518 fs的稳定锁模脉冲输出. 与普通孤子锁模飞秒光纤激光器相比,输出的单脉冲能量提高了两个数量级.

Based on the nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) technique and a fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI), a fiber laser which can work in two different modes has been demonstrated. In one mode, it works as a continuous wave (CW) multiwavelength laser, and stable dual-, triple- and tetra-wavelength lasing with the wavelength spacing of 1.1 nm are obtained. In the other mode, it works as a passively mode-locked fiber laser, and the generated pulses have a repetition rate of 10.6 MHz, an FWHM width of 800 ps and the largest energy of 1 nJ. The multi-functional property makes this fiber laser a very convenient, cost effective and multi-purpose laser source. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser employing a fiber-based semiconductor saturable absorber (SSA) operating in transmission. Polarization rotation locked vector solitons are observed in the laser. Due to the intrinsic dynamic feature of the laser, period-doubling of these vector solitons has also been observed. Furthermore, extra spectral sidebands are formed on the optical spectrum, caused by the energy exchange between the two orthogonal polarization components of the vector solitons. By careful reduction of the pump power together with fine adjustment to the cavity birefringence, period-one state can further be obtained. Additionally, the phase noise properties of the vector soliton fiber laser have also been characterized experimentally and analytically. 相似文献
