A direct method is given for the solution of the spherical harmonics approximation to the equation of radiative transfer in plane-parallel atmospheres. Although the method is formulated theoretically for non-homogeneous atmospheres with an arbitrary phase function, at present it has only been implemented for homogeneous atmospheres. Test computations performed for Rayleigh and Mie scattering phase functions show that the direct method is unconditionally stable and solves efficiently problems both for optically thin and very thick atmospheres. Timing comparisons with the method of Chandrasekhar for Rayleigh atmospheres and with an integral-equation iterative method for Mie atmospheres are quite favorable to the proposed method.  相似文献

We consider a general method for computing the sum of positive Lyapunov exponents for moderately dense gases. This method is based upon hierarchy techniques used previously to derive the generalized Boltzmann equation for the time-dependent spatial and velocity distribution functions for such systems. We extend the variables in the generalized Boltzmann equation to include a new set of quantities that describe the separation of trajectories in phase space needed for a calculation of the Lyapunov exponents. The method described here is especially suitable for calculating the sum of all of the positive Lyapunov exponents for the system, and may be applied to equilibrium as well as nonequilibrium situations. For low densities we obtain an extended Boltzmann equation, from which, under a simplifying approximation, we recover the sum of positive Lyapunov exponents for hard-disk and hard-sphere systems, obtained before by a simpler method. In addition we indicate how to improve these results by avoiding the simplifying approximation. The restriction to hard-sphere systems in d dimensions is made to keep the somewhat complicated formalism as clear as possible, but the method can be easily generalized to apply to gases of particles that interact with strong short-range forces. This paper introduces generalized diffusion models for the transport of particles in scattering media with nonscattering inclusions. Classical diffusion is known as a good approximation of transport only in scattering media. Based on asymptotic expansions and the coupling of transport and diffusion models, generalized diffusion equations with nonlocal interface conditions are proposed which offer a computationally cheap, yet accurate, alternative to solving the full phase-space transport equations. The paper shows which computational model should be used depending on the size and shape of the nonscattering inclusions in the simplified setting of two space dimensions. An important application is the treatment of clear layers in near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, an imaging technique based on the propagation of NIR photons in human tissues.  相似文献

A generalized mathematical model is suggested and the method of slowly varying variables is used. It is shown that the approximation of large radiative losses in an interferometer is not equivalent to the single-pass approximation. It is suggested to construct bifurcation and instability charts for a clear understanding of the influence of physical factors on the dynamics. It is shown that the loss of monochromaticity significantly complicates the structure of these charts and reduces the regions of stable radiation passage. It is established that the radiation delay in the interferometer gives rise to the bifurcation of period doubling at a smaller nonlinearity parameter. Tomsk State University. The exclusive process 3He(e,e'p)(2H) has been analyzed by a nonfactorized and parameter-free approach based upon realistic few-body wave functions corresponding to the AV18 interaction and treating the rescattering of the struck nucleon within a generalized eikonal approximation. The results of our calculations, compared with recent JLab experimental data, show that the left-right asymmetry exhibits a clear dependence upon the final state interaction demonstrating the breaking down of the factorization approximation at "negative" and large ( greater, similar300 MeV/c) values of the missing momentum.  相似文献

We present several examples of the numerical solution of the radiative transfer in subordinate lines. Using a simplified physical model that yields the line source function analogous to the usual two-level-atom form modified by the presence of the redistribution function Rv in the scattering integral, we have solved the transfer problem for isothermal, plane-parallel atmospheres, both finite and semi-infinite. For finite atmospheres, we have found substantial differences between the solutions with Rv and those with complete redistribution. On the other hand, for semi-infinite atmospheres the complete redistribution appears to be a good approximation, at least for al?au (damping parameters for the lower and upper levels, respectively). It is shown that the effect of Rv becomes more pronounced with increasing ratio au/al. Finally, it is demonstrated that an approximate form for Rv analogous to that of Kneer for RII serves as a very good approximation for computing the line profiles, particularly in the line wings.  相似文献

A new approach to the construction of a system of the generalized radiometric quantities expressed in terms of the cross-spectral density function of the wave field is proposed. The key distinction of this approach lies in the fact that the initial hypothesis of beamlike wave propagation allows to invoke the paraxial approximation when deducing the generalized radiant flux. Within the framework of this approach the new expressions for the generalized radiant emittance, the generalized radiant intensity and the generalized radiance are derived. All the proposed generalized radiometric characteristics represent physically measurable quantities and, hence, may be used in practical radiometry. The main goal of this paper is to give a rigorous derivation of the generalized form of the direct (also referenced as forward) and adjoint radiative transfer equations. The obtained expressions coincide with expressions derived by Ustinov [Adjoint sensitivity analysis of radiative transfer equation: temperature and gas mixing ratio weighting functions for remote sensing of scattering atmospheres in thermal IR. To illustrate the application of the derived adjoint radiative transfer operator we consider the angular interpolation problem in the framework of the discrete ordinate method widely used to solve the radiative transfer equation. It is shown that under certain conditions the usage of the solution of the adjoint radiative transfer equation for the angular interpolation of the intensity can be computationally more efficient than the commonly used source function integration technique.  相似文献

In the context of planetary atmospheres and oceans, it is natural to define "coherent structures" as "long-lived," or "solitary," Rossby vortices. These can be described by the generalized Charney-Obukhov equation (in fluid dynamics) or the analogous generalized Hasegawa-Mima equation (in plasma physics). These two equations contain KdV-type nonlinearities which (together with the compensating dispersive spreading) determine the formation of the coherent structures and explain the clear-cut cyclonic/anticyclonic asymmetry observed experimentally in long-lived planetary Rossby vortices. Examples are given of natural vortices which are (and which are not) coherent structures.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the generalized Camassa and Holm (CH) equation by the improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method. By employing the improved moving least-square (IMLS) approximation, we derive the formulas for the generalized CH equation with the IEFG method. A variational method is used to obtain the discrete equations, and the essential boundary conditions are enforced by the penalty method. Because there are fewer coefficients in the IMLS approximation than in the MLS approximation, and in the IEFG method, fewer nodes are selected in the entire domain than in the conventional EFG method, the IEFG method should result in a higher computing speed. The effectiveness of the IEFG method for the generalized CH equation is investigated by numerical examples in this paper.  相似文献

本文基于积分方程法研究并建立了一种模拟横向同性介质中任意各向异性异常 体三维电磁响应的高阶广义扩展Born近似(Ho-GEBA)算法. 首先利用逐次迭代技术给出积分方程的广义级数展开解, 为保证其收敛性, 引入一种各向异性条件下满足压缩映射的迭代算子. 然后利用异常体区域分解技术, 并结合扩展Born近似原理, 得到各向异性介质三维电磁响应的Ho-GEBA解. 为提高效率, 计算过程中采用并矢Green函数的解析表达式. 最后通过数值计算实例对比验证了本文算法的有效性. 关键词: 高阶广义扩展Born近似 积分方程 电磁模拟 解析Green函数  相似文献

The equation for free-space propagation of the generalized radiance defined formerly by the authors in terms of the coherent-mode representation of the cross-spectral density function is derived within the accuracy of the paraxial approximation. It is shown that, in the short-wavelength limit, this generalized radiance obeys in a good approximation the fundamental radiative transfer law of classical radiometry.  相似文献

A generalized version of the rotating-wave approximation for the single-mode spin-boson Hamiltonian is presented. It is shown that performing a simple change of basis prior to eliminating the off-resonant terms results in a significantly more accurate expression for the energy levels of the system. The generalized approximation works for all values of the coupling strength and for a wide range of detuning values, and may find applications in solid-state experiments.  相似文献

We have performed full potential linear augmented plane wave calculations to investigate the pressure induced phase transition in ZnTe. Total energies of three phases (zinc-blende, cinnabar and Cmcm) are calculated using density functional theory formalism under generalized gradient approximation and Engel-Vosko generalized gradient approximation for the exchange correlation potential approximation. The pressure stability corresponding to zinc-blende, cinnabar and Cmcm phases of ZnTe are computed. We find that cinnabar phase could be formed as a metastable phase by releasing pressure from the high pressure Cmcm phase. The obtained structural, electronic and optical results are compared with previous calculations and available experimental data. Overall good agreement is found.  相似文献

We study multiple scattering of elastic waves using a generalized diffusion approximation of the radiative transfer equation applied to spherically symmetric scatterers. This generalized diffusion equation allows us to keep track of the two elastic wave types as well as the mode conversions. It describes the process towards equipartition and fills, as such, a gap between the radiative transfer equation and the conventional diffusion approximation. The effects of boundary conditions and dissipation on the energy partitioning are studied.  相似文献
