The metallic 1T‐MoS2 has attracted considerable attention as an effective catalyst for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs). However, the fundamental mechanism about the catalytic activity of 1T‐MoS2 and the associated phase evolution remain elusive and controversial. Herein, we prepared the most stable 1T‐MoS2 by hydrothermal exfoliation of MoS2 nanosheets vertically rooted into rigid one‐dimensional TiO2 nanofibers. The 1T‐MoS2 can keep highly stable over one year, presenting an ideal model system for investigating the HER catalytic activities as a function of the phase evolution. Both experimental studies and theoretical calculations suggest that 1T phase can be irreversibly transformed into a more active 1T′ phase as true active sites in photocatalytic HERs, resulting in a “catalytic site self‐optimization”. Hydrogen atom adsorption is the major driving force for this phase transition.  相似文献

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been regarded as one of the most promising candidates for replacing Pt group noble metals as an efficient electrocatalyst to enhance the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in consideration of its relatively high earth abundance. Recent studies show that the catalytic efficiency of MoS2 for HER can be promoted by the presence of 1T-phase MoS2. It is hard to precisely control the formation of 1T-MoS2, however, due to its metastability relative to 2H-MoS2. Elevating the stability of 1T phase allotrope is therefore of great importance and could be realized by replacing divalent S with monovalent elements or groups according to crystal field theory, which has been demonstrated through our first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculation results. Differential Gibbs free energy analysis for hydrogen adsorption (ΔGH*) suggest that 1T and 1T′ MoSO (O doped MoS2) might be taken as potential candidate catalysts for HER process with better performance than 1T and 1T′ MoS2. We also propose a probable approach to synthesize 1T and 1T′ MoSO under oxidation circumstance environment of graphene oxide.  相似文献

Hydrogen evolution reaction/Oxygen evolution reaction (HER/OER) synergy would be the most important issue for overall water splitting. The Pt-free 1T/2H-MoS2/CdS/MnOx hollow core–shell nanocomposites are fabricated via a continuous hydrothermal–chemical method; therefore, the OER co-catalysts MnOx and CdS shell are deposited on the surface of SiO2 nanosphere templates continuously via hydrothermal–chemical method. Subsequently, the SiO2 templates are etched via chemical method and the 2H-MoS2/CdS hollow core–shell heterojunction and 1T-MoS2 HER co-catalyst are introduced via one-step hydrothermal method. Evaluated by photocatalytic performance, the 1T/2H-MoS2/CdS/MnOx exhibits an enhanced HER performance of about ~50 folds than that of single CdS hollow nanosphere, and achieves a decent overall water splitting performance of about ~1668.00(H2)/824.61(O2) μmol/g?h, which can be mainly ascribed to the well HER/OER synergy and formation of hollow core–shell structure. Therefore, the 1T-MoS2 with quick electron transport and decent solid/liquid interface can promote the photogenerated electron diffusing, the MnOx with mixed Mn3+/Mn4+ ions can activate the hole-related species for OH? oxidation and promote H2O2 decomposition, the 2H–MoS2/CdS heterojunction can separate the charge carrier and meet the potential to achieve overall water splitting. Additionally, the 1T/2H-MoS2 with decent lattice matching can improve the charge carrier transport, the 1T-MoS2 with sufficient specific surface areas can increase active sites and the hollow core–shell structure can increase solar efficiency which is also beneficial for enhancing the overall water splitting performance and stability.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and MOF‐derived nanomaterials have recently attracted great interest as highly efficient, non‐noble‐metal catalysts. In particular, two‐dimensional MOF nanosheet materials possess the advantages of both 2D layered nanomaterials and MOFs and are considered to be promising nanomaterials. Herein, we report a facile and scalable in situ hydrothermal synthesis of Co–hypoxanthine (HPA) MOF nanosheets, which were then directly carbonized to prepare uniform Co@N‐Carbon nanosheets for efficient bifunctional electrocatalytic hydrogen‐evolution reactions (HERs) and oxygen‐evolution reactions (OERs). The Co embedded in N‐doped carbon shows excellent and stable catalytic performance for bifunctional electrocatalytic OERs and HERs. For OERs, the overpotential of Co@N‐Carbon at 10 mA cm?2 was 400 mV (vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE). The current density of Co@N‐Carbon reached 100 mA cm?2 at an overpotential of 560 mV, which showed much better performance than RuO2; the largest current density of RuO2 that could be reached was only 44 mA cm?2. The Tafel slope of Co@N‐Carbon was 61 mV dec?1, which is comparable to that of commercial RuO2 (58 mV dec?1). The excellent electrocatalytic properties can be attributed to the nanosheet structure and well‐dispersed carbon‐encapsulated Co, CoN nanoparticles, and N‐dopant sites, which provided high conductivity and a large number of accessible active sites. The results highlight the great potential of utilizing MOF nanosheet materials as promising templates for the preparation of 2D Co@N‐Carbon materials for electrocatalysis and will pave the way to the development of more efficient 2D nanomaterials for various catalytic applications.  相似文献

Covalently tethering photosensitizers to catalytically active 1T-MoS2 surfaces holds great promise for the solar-driven hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, we report the preparation of two new RuII-complex-functionalized MoS2 hybrids [RuII(bpy)2(phen)]-MoS2 and [RuII(bpy)2(py)Cl]-MoS2. The influence of covalent functionalization of chemically exfoliated 1T-MoS2 with coordinating ligands and RuII complexes on the HER activity and photo-electrochemical performance of this dye-sensitized system was studied systematically. We find that the photo-electrochemical performance of this RuII-complex-sensitized MoS2 system is highly dependent on the surface extent of photosensitizers and the catalytic activity of functionalized MoS2. The latter was strongly affected by the number and the kind of functional groups. Our results underline the tunability of the photovoltage generation in this dye-sensitized MoS2 system by manipulation of the surface functionalities, which provides a practical guidance for smart design of future dye-sensitized MoS2 hydrogen production devices towards improved the photofuel conversion efficiency.  相似文献

A photocatalytic system containing a perylene bisimide (PBI) dye as a photosensitizer anchored to titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles through carboxyl groups was constructed. Under solar‐light irradiation in the presence of sacrificial triethanolamine (TEOA) in neutral and basic conditions (pH 8.5), a reaction cascade is initiated in which the PBI molecule first absorbs green light, giving the formation of a stable radical anion (PBI.?), which in a second step absorbs near‐infrared light, forming a stable PBI dianion (PBI2?). Finally, the dianion absorbs red light and injects an electron into the TiO2 nanoparticle that is coated with platinum co‐catalyst for hydrogen evolution. The hydrogen evolution rates (HERs) are as high as 1216 and 1022 μmol h?1 g?1 with simulated sunlight irradiation in neutral and basic conditions, respectively.  相似文献

Most relevant features of the fundamental and applied chemistry of MoS2 are reviewed highlighting the importance of the layered nature of the solid on the optical and catalytic properties of the compounds. Experimental and theoretical aspects related to the 2H-1T-MoS2 phase change induced by the insertion of lithium are discussed. The principal systems known until this moment, specifically those based on the intercalation of molecular and polymeric organic donors, organometallic species and cations into MoS2 as well as the methods used for their synthesis, are described. The main characteristic of the products, principally their properties as mixed conductors and the diffusion of lithium inside the interlamellar spaces are discussed.  相似文献

Thanks to tunable physical and chemical properties, two-dimensional (2D) materials have received intensive interest, endowing their excellent electrocatalytic performances for applications in energy conversion. However, their catalytic activities are largely determined by poor adsorption energy and limited active edge sites. Herein, a one-step electrochemical exfoliation strategy was developed to fabricate 2D Ni-doped MoS2 nanosheets (Ni-EX-MoS2) with a lateral size of ~500 nm and thickness of ~3.5 nm. Profiting from high electrical conductivity and abundant exposing active sites, Ni-EX-MoS2 catalyst displayed an admirable performance for electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with a low overpotential of 145 mV at 10 mA/cm2 as well as a small Tafel slope of 89 mV/dec in alkaline media, which are superior to those of the most reported MoS2-based electrocatalysts. The formed Ni species with tuning electronic structure played a crucial role as primary active center of Ni-EX-MoS2, as well as the forming stable 1T/2H phase MoS2 interface demonstrated a synergistic effect on electrocatalytic HER performance. Further, Ni-EX-MoS2 was employed as a cathode electrode for alkaline Zn-H2O battery, which displayed a high power density of 3.3 mW/cm2 with excellent stability. This work will provide a simple and effective guideline for design of electrochemically exfoliated transition metal-doped MoS2 nanosheets to inspire their practical applications in energy catalytic and storage.  相似文献

Molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) is considered as an alternative material for commercial platinum catalysts for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Improving the apparent HER activity of MoS2 to a level comparable to that of Pt is an essential premise for the commercial use of MoS2. In this work, a Zn-doping strategy is proposed to enhance the HER performance of MoS2. It is shown that tiny Zn doping into MoS2 leads to the enhancement of the electrochemical surface area, increases in proportion of HER active 1T phase in the material and formation of catalytic sites of higher intrinsic activity. These benefits result in a high-performance HER electrocatalyst with a low overpotential of 190 mV(@10 mA cm−2) and a low Tafel slope of 58 mV dec−1. The origin for the excellent electrochemical performance of the doped MoS2 is rationalized with both experimental and theoretical investigations.  相似文献

MoS2 has become particularly popular for its catalytic properties towards the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). It has been shown that the metallic 1T phase of MoS2, obtained by chemical exfoliation after lithium intercalation, possesses enhanced catalytic activity over the semiconducting 2H phase due to the improved conductivity properties which facilitate charge‐transfer kinetics. Here we demonstrate a simple electrochemical method to precisely tune the electron‐transfer kinetics as well as the catalytic properties of both exfoliated and bulk MoS2‐based films. A controlled reductive or oxidative electrochemical treatment can alter the surface properties of the film with consequently improved or hampered electrochemical and catalytic properties compared to the untreated film. Density functional theory calculations were used to explain the electrochemical activation of MoS2. The electrochemical tuning of electrocatalytic properties of MoS2 opens the doors to scalable and facile tailoring of MoS2‐based electrochemical devices.  相似文献

In situ evolution of electrocatalysts is of paramount importance in defining catalytic reactions. Catalysts for aprotic electrochemistry such as lithium–sulfur (Li‐S) batteries are the cornerstone to enhance intrinsically sluggish reaction kinetics but the true active phases are often controversial. Herein, we reveal the electrochemical phase evolution of metal‐based pre‐catalysts (Co4N) in working Li‐S batteries that renders highly active electrocatalysts (CoSx). Electrochemical cycling induces the transformation from single‐crystalline Co4N to polycrystalline CoSx that are rich in active sites. This transformation propels all‐phase polysulfide‐involving reactions. Consequently, Co4N enables stable operation of high‐rate (10 C, 16.7 mA cm?2) and electrolyte‐starved (4.7 μL mgS?1) Li‐S batteries. The general concept of electrochemically induced sulfurization is verified by thermodynamic energetics for most of low‐valence metal compounds.  相似文献

The β‐cyclodextrin‐assisted aqueous‐exfoliation method was used to prepare transition‐metal dichalcogenide (TMD) nanosheets, in a cheap, highly efficient, scalable and environmentally friendly manner. As study cases, MoS2 and ReS2 nanoflakes were prepared according to this method. Particularly, the effective exfoliation of ReS2 crystals in an aqueous environment was observed for the first time. Moreover, exfoliated nanomaterials can be readily utilized in hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs) as noble‐metal‐free catalysts. This work provides new opportunities for highly efficient exfoliation of TMDs and other 2D nanomaterials into few‐layer nanosheets in aqueous media. Their production process showed high biocompatibility, broad applicability and excellent sustainability.  相似文献

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has been explored extensively for reliable hydrogen supply to boost the energy conversion efficiency. The superior OER performance of newly developed non‐noble metal electrocatalysts has concealed the identification of the real active species of the catalysts. Now, the critical active phase in nickel‐based materials (represented by NiNPS) was directly identified by observing the dynamic surface reconstruction during the harsh OER process via combining in situ Raman tracking and ex situ microscopy and spectroscopy analyses. The irreversible phase transformation from NiNPS to α‐Ni(OH)2 and reversible phase transition between α‐Ni(OH)2 and γ‐NiOOH prior to OER demonstrate γ‐NiOOH as the key active species for OER. The hybrid catalyst exhibits 48‐fold enhanced catalytic current at 300 mV and remarkably reduced Tafel slope to 46 mV dec?1, indicating the greatly accelerated catalytic kinetics after surface evolution.  相似文献

Highly efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst will determine the mass distributions of hydrogen-powered clean technologies, while still faces grand challenges. In this work, a synergistic ligand modulation plus Co doping strategy is applied to 1T−MoS2 catalyst via CoMo-metal-organic frameworks precursors, boosting the HER catalytic activity and durability of 1T−MoS2. Confirmed by Cs corrected transmission electron microscope and X-ray absorption spectroscopy, the polydentate 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane ligand can stably link with two-dimensional 1T−MoS2 layers through cobalt sites to expand interlayer spacing of MoS2 (Co−1T−MoS2-bpe), which promotes active site exposure, accelerates water dissociation, and optimizes the adsorption and desorption of H in alkaline HER processes. Theoretical calculations indicate the promotions in the electronic structure of 1T−MoS2 originate in the formation of three-dimensional metal-organic constructs by linking π-conjugated ligand, which weakens the hybridization between Mo-3d and S-2p orbitals, and in turn makes S-2p orbital more suitable for hybridization with H-1s orbital. Therefore, Co−1T−MoS2-bpe exhibits excellent stability and exceedingly low overpotential for alkaline HER (118 mV at 10 mA cm−2). In addition, integrated into an anion-exchange membrane water electrolyzer, Co−1T−MoS2-bpe is much superior to the Pt/C catalyst at the large current densities. This study provides a feasible ligand modulation strategy for designs of two-dimensional catalysts.  相似文献

A new ternary composite of 1T-molybdenum disulfide, hexagonal tungsten trioxide, and reduced graphene oxide (M-W-rGO) is synthesized by using a one-pot hydrothermal process. The synergetic effect of 1T-MoS2 and hexa-WO3 nanoflowers improves the electrochemical performance for supercapacitors by inducing additional active sites and hexagonal tunnels, respectively, which lead to high storage capacity and easy transfer of electrolyte ions. The ternary M-W-rGO composite has a high specific capacitance of 836 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, which is nearly twice that of binary composites of M-rGO and W-rGO with high capacitance retention of 86.35 % after 3000 cycles at a high current density of 5 A g−1. This study provides a new ternary composite that can be used as an electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors.  相似文献

Unveiling the active phase of catalytic materials under reaction conditions is important for the construction of efficient electrocatalysts for selective nitrate reduction to ammonia. The origin of the prominent activity enhancement for CuO (Faradaic efficiency: 95.8 %, Selectivity: 81.2 %) toward selective nitrate electroreduction to ammonia was probed. 15N isotope labeling experiments showed that ammonia originated from nitrate reduction. 1H NMR spectroscopy and colorimetric methods were performed to quantify ammonia. In situ Raman and ex situ experiments revealed that CuO was electrochemically converted into Cu/Cu2O, which serves as an active phase. The combined results of online differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) and DFT calculations demonstrated that the electron transfer from Cu2O to Cu at the interface could facilitate the formation of *NOH intermediate and suppress the hydrogen evolution reaction, leading to high selectivity and Faradaic efficiency.  相似文献

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has shown significant promise as an economic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst for hydrogen generation, but its catalytic performance is still lower than noble metal-based catalysists. Herein, a silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs)-decorated 1T/2H phase layered MoS2 electrocatalyst grown on titanium dioxide nanorod arrays (Ag NPs/1T(2H) MoS2/TNRs) was prepared through acid-tunable ammonium ion intercalation. Taking advantage of MoS2 layered structure and crystal phase controllability, as-prepared Ag NPs/1T(2H) MoS2/TNRs exhibited ultrahigh HER activity. As-proposed strategy combines facile hydrogen desorption (Ag NPs) with efficient hydrogen adsorption (1T/2H MoS2) effectively circumventes the kinetic limitation of hydrogen desorption by 1T/2H MoS2. The as-prepared Ag NPs/1T(2H) MoS2/TNRs electrocatalyst exhibited excellent HER activity in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 with low overpotential (118 mV vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE)) and small Tafel slope (38.61 mV/dec). The overpotential exhibts no obvious attenuation after 10 h of constant current flow. First-principles calculation demonstrates that as-prepared 1T/2H MoS2 exhibit a large capacity to store protons. These protons can be subsequently transferred to Ag NPs, which significantly increases the hydrogen coverage on the surface of Ag NPs in HER process and thus change the rate-determining step of HER on Ag NPs from water dissociation to hydrogen recombination. This study provides a unique strategy to improve the catalytic activity and stability for MoS2-based electrocatalyst.  相似文献
