A dibenzobarrelene‐bridged, α‐diimine NiII catalyst (rac‐ 3 ) was synthesized and shown to have exceptional behavior for the polymerization of ethylene. The catalyst afforded high molecular weight polyethylenes with narrow dispersities and degrees of branching much lower than those made by related α‐diimine nickel catalysts. Catalyst rac‐ 3 demonstrated living behavior at room temperature, produced linear polyethylene (Tm=135 °C) at ?20 °C, and, most importantly, was able to copolymerize ethylene with the biorenewable polar monomer methyl 10‐undecenoate to yield highly linear ester‐functionalized polyethylene.  相似文献

A series of novel α‐diamine nickel complexes, (ArNH‐C(Me)‐(Me)C‐NHAr)NiBr2, 1 : Ar=2,6‐diisopropylphenyl, 2 : Ar=2,6‐dimethylphenyl, 3 : Ar=phenyl), have been synthesized and characterized. X‐ray crystallographic analysis showed that the coordination geometry of the α‐diamine nickel complexes is markedly different from conventional α‐diimine nickel complexes, and that the chelate ring (N‐C‐C‐N‐Ni) of the α‐diamine nickel complex is significantly distorted. The α‐diamine nickel catalysts also display different steric effects on ethylene polymerization in comparison to the α‐diimine nickel catalyst. Increasing the steric hindrance of the α‐diamine ligand by substitution of the o‐methyl groups with o‐isopropyl groups leads to decreased polymerization activity and molecular weight; however, catalyst thermal stability is significantly enhanced. Living polymerizations of ethylene can be successfully achieved using 1 /Et2AlCl at 35 °C or 2 /Et2AlCl at 0 °C. The bulky α‐diamine nickel catalyst 1 with isopropyl substituents can additionally be used to control the branching topology of the obtained polyethylene at the same level of branching density by tuning the reaction temperature and ethylene pressure.  相似文献

An α‐diimine Pd(II) complex containing chiral sec‐phenethyl groups, {bis[N,N′‐(4‐methyl‐2‐sec‐phenethylphenyl)imino]‐2,3‐butadiene}dichloropalladium (rac‐ C1 ), was synthesized and characterized. rac‐ C1 was applied as an efficient catalyst for the Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling reaction between various aniline halides and arylboronic acid in PEG‐400–H2O at room temperature. Among a series of aniline halides, rac‐ C1 did not catalyze the cross‐coupling of aniline chlorides and fluorides but efficiently catalyzed the cross‐coupling of aniline bromides and iodides with phenylboronic acid. The catalytic activity reduced slightly with increasing steric hindrance of the aniline bromides. The complexes {bis[N,N′‐(4‐fluoro‐2,6‐diphenylphenyl)imino]‐2,3‐butadiene}dichloropalladium and {bis[N,N′‐(4‐fluoro‐2,6‐diphenylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene}dichloropalladium were also found to be efficient catalysts for the reaction. A series of new α‐diimine nickel(II) catalysts bearing bulky chiral sec‐phenethyl groups have been synthesized and characterized. The molecular structure of representative chiral ligand, bis[N,N′‐(4‐methyl‐2,6‐di‐sec‐phenethylphenyl)imino]‐1,2‐dimethylethane rac‐1c and chiral complexes, {bis[N,N′‐(4‐methyl‐2‐sec‐phenethylphenyl)imino]‐2,3‐butadiene}dibromidonickel rac‐2a and bis{bis[N,N′‐(4‐methyl‐2‐sec‐phenethylphenyl)imino]‐2,3‐butadiene}dibromidonickel rac‐2b, were confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. Complex rac‐2c bearing two chiral sec‐phenethyl groups in the ortho‐aryl position and a methyl group in the para‐aryl position, activated by diethylaluminum chloride (DEAC), showed highly catalytic activity for the polymerization of ethylene [4.12 × 106 g PE (mol Ni.h.bar)?1], and produced highly branched polyethylenes under low ethylene pressure (branching degree: 104, 118 and 126 branches/1000 C at 20, 40 and 60°C, respectively). Chiral 20‐electron bis‐α‐diimine Ni(II) complex rac‐2b also exhibited high activity toward ethylene polymerization [1.71 × 106 g PE (mol Ni · h · bar)?1]. The type and amount of branches of the polyethylenes obtained were determined by 1H and 13C NMR. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Long‐chain‐branched polyethylene with a broad or bimodal molecular weight distribution was synthesized by ethylene homopolymerization via a novel nickel(II) α‐diimine complex of 2,3‐bis(2‐phenylphenyl)butane diimine nickel dibromide ({[2‐C6H4(C6H5)]? N?C? (CH3)C(CH3)?N? [2‐C6H4(C6H5)]}NiBr2) that possessed two stereoisomers in the presence of modified methylaluminoxane. The influences of the polymerization conditions, including the temperature and Al/Ni molar ratio, on the catalytic activity, molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, degree of branching, and branch length of polyethylene, were investigated. The resultant products were confirmed by gel permeation chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and 13C NMR characterization to be composed of higher molecular weight polyethylene with only isolated long‐branched chains (longer than six carbons) or with methyl pendant groups and oligomers of linear α‐olefins. The long‐chain‐branched polyethylene was formed mainly through the copolymerization of ethylene growing chains and macromonomers of α‐olefins. The presence of methyl pendant groups in the polyethylene main chain implied a 2,1‐insertion of the macromonomers into [Ni]? H active species. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Homogeneous tandem catalysis of the bis(diphenylphoshino)amine‐chromium oligomerization catalyst with the metallocenes Ph2C(Cp)(9‐Flu)ZrCl2 and rac‐EtIn2ZrCl2, is discussed. GC, CRYSTAF, and 13C NMR analysis of the products obtained from reactions at constant temperatures show that during tandem catalysis, α‐olefins, mainly 1‐hexene and 1‐octene, are produced from ethylene by the oligomerization catalyst and subsequently built into the polyethylene chain. At 40 °C the Cr/PNP catalyst acts as a tetramerization catalyst while the polymerization catalyst activity is low. Copolymerization of ethylene and the in situ produced α‐olefins have also been carried out by increasing the temperature from 40 °C, where primarily oligomerization takes place, to above 100 °C, where polymerization becomes dominant. The melting temperature of the polymer is dependent on the catalyst and cocatalyst ratios as well as on the temperature gradient followed during the reaction, while the presence of the oligomerization catalyst reduces the activity of the polymerization catalyst. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The catalyst (N,N‐bis(2,6‐dibenzhydryl‐4‐ethoxyphenyl)butane‐2,3‐diimine)nickel dibromide, a late transition metal catalyst, was prepared and used in ethylene polymerization. The effects of reaction parameters such as polymerization temperature, co‐catalyst to catalyst molar ratio and monomer pressure on the polymerization were investigated. The α‐diimine nickel‐based catalyst was demonstrated to be thermally robust at a temperature as high as 90 °C. The highest activity of the catalyst (494 kg polyethylene (mol cat)?1 h?1) was obtained at [Al]/[Ni] = 600:1, temperature of 90 °C and pressure of 5 bar. In addition, the performance of a binary catalyst using nickel‐ and palladium‐based complexes was compared with that of the corresponding individual catalytic systems in ethylene polymerization. In a study of the catalyst systems, the average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution for the binary polymerization were between those for the individual catalytic polymerizations; however, the binary catalyst activity was lower than that of the two individual ones. The obtained polyethylenes had high molecular weights in the region of 105 g mol?1. Gel permeation chromatography analysis showed a narrow molecular weight distribution of 1.44 for the nickel‐based catalyst and 1.61 for the binary catalyst system. The branching density of the polyethylenes generated using the binary catalytic system (30 branches/1000 C) was lower than that generated using the nickel‐based catalyst (51/1000 C). X‐ray diffraction study of the polymer chains showed higher crystallinity with lower branching of the polymer obtained. Also Fourier transform infrared spectra confirmed that all obtained polymers were low‐density polyethylene.  相似文献

A series of para‐phenyl‐substituted α‐diimine nickel complexes, [(2,6‐R2‐4‐PhC6H2N═C(Me))2]NiBr2 (R = iPr ( 1 ); R = Et ( 2 ); R = Me ( 3 ); R = H ( 4 )), were synthesized and characterized. These complexes with systematically varied ligand sterics were used as precatalysts for ethylene polymerization in combination with methylaluminoxane. The results indicated the possibility of catalytic activity, molecular weight and polymer microstructure control through catalyst structures and polymerization temperature. Interestingly, it is possible to tune the catalytic activities ((0.30–2.56) × 106 g (mol Ni·h)?1), polymer molecular weights (Mn = (2.1–28.6) × 104 g mol?1) and branching densities (71–143/1000 C) over a very wide range. The polyethylene branching densities decreased with increasing bulkiness of ligand and decreasing polymerization temperature. Specifically, methyl‐substituted complex 3 showed high activities and produced highly branched amorphous polyethylene (up to 143 branches per 1000 C).  相似文献

Tandem catalysis offers a promising synthetic route to the production of linear low‐density polyethylene. This article reports the use of homogeneous tandem catalytic systems for the synthesis of ethylene/1‐hexene copolymers from ethylene stock as the sole monomer. The reported catalytic systems employ the tandem action between an ethylene trimerization catalyst, (η5‐C5H4CMe2C6H5)TiCl3 ( 1 )/modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO), and a copolymerization metallocene catalyst, [(η5‐C5Me4)SiMe2(tBuN)]TiCl2 ( 2 )/MMAO or rac‐Me2Si(2‐MeBenz[e]Ind)2ZrCl2 ( 3 )/MMAO. During the reaction, 1 /MMAO in situ generates 1‐hexene with high activity and high selectivity, and simultaneously 2 /MMAO or 3 /MMAO copolymerizes ethylene with the produced 1‐hexene to generate butyl‐branched polyethylene. We have demonstrated that, by the simple manipulation of the catalyst molar ratio and polymerization conditions, a series of branched polyethylenes with melting temperatures of 60–128 °C, crystallinities of 5.4–53%, and hexene percentages of 0.3–14.2 can be efficiently produced. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of group 4 metallocenes (RCp)[Cp―(bridge)―(2‐C4H3S)]MCl2 [M = Ti ( C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 ); M = Zr ( C5 , C6 , C7 , C8 )] bearing a pendant thiophene group on a cyclopentadienyl ring have been synthesized, characterized and tested as catalyst precursors for ethylene polymerization. The molecular structures of representative titanocenes C2 and C4 were confirmed by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and revealed that both complexes exist in an expected coordination environment for a monomeric bent metallocene. No intramolecular coordination between the thiophene group and the titanium center could be observed in the solid state. Upon activation by methylaluminoxane (MAO), titanocenes C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 showed moderate catalytic activities and produced high‐ or ultra‐high‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (Mv 70.5–227.1 × 104 g mol?1). Titanocene C3 is more active and long‐lived, with a lifetime of nearly 9 h at 30 °C. At elevated temperatures of 80–110 °C, zirconocenes C5 , C6 , C7 , C8 displayed high catalytic activities (up to 27.6 × 105 g PE (mol Zr)?1 h?1), giving high‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (Mv 11.2–53.7 × 104 g mol?1). Even at 80 °C, a long lifetime of at least 2 h was observed for the C8/MAO catalyst system. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

1‐Hexene polymerizations catalyzed by α‐diimine nickel complexes after activation with modified methylaluminoxane were performed at various reaction temperatures. Effects of catalyst structure and polymerization temperature on activity and polymer microstructure were evaluated in detail. Bulky catalyst 1b with camphyl backbone exhibited good control ability and greatly enhanced thermal stability to be capable of polymerizing 1‐hexene at 80°C. The poly(1‐hexene)s with long methylene sequences and dominate branches (methyl and butyl) were synthesized using catalyst 1b . Differential scanning calorimetry analysis further confirmed that long polymethylene block (? (CH2)n? , n > 20) was formed in the poly(1‐hexene)s with melting point of 64°C obtained by catalyst 1b on the basis of initial branched model polyethylene. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The kinetics of propylene polymerization initiated by ansa‐metallocene diamide compound rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2Zr(NMe2)2 (rac‐1, CMB = 1‐C5H2‐2‐Me‐4‐tBu)/methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalyst were investigated. The formation of cationic active species has been studied by the sequential NMR‐scale reactions of rac‐1 with MAO. The rac‐1 is first transformed to rac‐Me2Si(CMB)2ZrMe2 (rac‐2) through the alkylation mainly by free AlMe3 contained in MAO. The methylzirconium cations are then formed by the reaction of rac‐2 and MAO. Small amount of MAO ([Al]/[Zr] = 40) is enough to completely activate rac‐1 to afford methylzirconium cations that can polymerize propylene. In the lab‐scale polymerizations carried out at 30°C in toluene, the rate of polymerization (Rp) shows maximum at [Al]/[Zr] = 6,250. The Rp increases as the polymerization temperature (Tp) increases in the range of Tp between 10 and 70°C and as the catalyst concentration increases in the range between 21.9 and 109.6 μM. The activation energies evaluated by simple kinetic scheme are 4.7 kcal/mol during the acceleration period of polymerization and 12.2 kcal/mol for an overall reaction. The introduction of additional free AlMe3 before activating rac‐1 with MAO during polymerization deeply influences the polymerization behavior. The iPPs obtained at various conditions are characterized by high melting point (approximately 155°C), high stereoregularity (almost 100% [mmmm] pentad), low molecular weight (MW), and narrow molecular weight distribution (below 2.0). The fractionation results by various solvents show that iPPs produced at Tp below 30°C are compositionally homogeneous, but those obtained at Tp above 40°C are separated into many fractions. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. An iron oligomerization catalyst, [(2‐ArN?C(Me))2C5H3N]FeCl2 [Ar = 2,6‐C6H3(F)2], was combined with rac‐ethylene bis(indenyl)zirconium (IV) dichloride [rac‐Et(Ind)2ZrCl2] to prepare linear low‐density polyethylene (LLDPE) by the in situ copolymerization of ethylene. A series of LLDPEs with different properties were prepared by the alteration of the reaction temperature, Fe/Zr molar ratio, Al/(Fe + Zr) molar ratio, and reaction time. The structures of the polymers were characterized with differential scanning calorimetry, 13C NMR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and so forth. The melting points, crystallizations, and densities of the resulting products increased, and the average branching degree decreased, as the reaction temperature, Al/(Fe + Zr) ratio, and reaction time increased. The melting points, crystallizations, and densities of the polymers decreased, and the average branching degree increased, when the Fe/Zr ratio increased. The 13C NMR and GPC results showed that there were no unreacted α‐olefins remaining in the resulting polymers because the percentage of low‐molar‐mass sections (C4–C10) of the oligomers obtained with this catalyst was very high (>70%). In addition, the formation of polymers with two melting points under different reaction conditions was examined in detail, and the results indicated that the two melting points of the polymers could be attributed to polyethylene with different branches. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The incorporation of 5‐vinyl‐2‐norbornene (VNB) into ethylene‐norbornene copolymer was investigated with catalysts [Ph2C(Fluo)(Cp)]ZrCl2 ( 1 ), rac‐[Et(Ind)2]ZrCl2 ( 2 ), and [Me2Si(Me4Cp)tBuN]TiCl2 ( 3 ) in the presence of MAO by terpolymerizing different amounts of 5‐vinyl‐2‐norbornene with constant amounts of ethylene and norbornene at 60°C. The highest cycloolefin incorporations and highest activity in terpolymerizations were achieved with 1 . The distribution of the monomers in the terpolymer chain was determined by NMR spectroscopy. As confirmed by XRD and DSC analysis, catalysts 1 and 3 produced amorphous terpolymer, whereas 2 yielded terpolymer with crystalline fragments of long ethylene sequences. When compared with poly‐(ethylene‐co‐norbornene), VNB increased both the glass transition temperatures and molar masses of terpolymers produced with the constrained geometry catalyst whereas decreased those for the metallocenes.  相似文献

The reactions of the Group 4 metallocene alkyne complexes rac‐(ebthi)M(η2‐Me3SiC2SiMe3) ( 1 a : M=Ti, 1 b : M=Zr; rac‐(ebthi)=rac‐1,2‐ethylene‐1,1′‐bis(η5‐tetrahydroindenyl)) with Ph?C?N were investigated. For 1 a , an unusual nitrile–nitrile coupling to 1‐titana‐2,5‐diazacyclopenta‐2,4‐diene ( 2 ) at ambient temperature was observed. At higher temperature, the C?C coupling of two nitriles resulted in the formation of a dinuclear complex with a four‐membered diimine bridge ( 3 ). The reaction of 1 b with Ph?C?N afforded dinuclear compound 4 and 2,4,6‐triphenyltriazine. Additionally, the reactivity of 1 b towards other nitriles was investigated.  相似文献

The copolymerization of ethylene with triphenylamine (TPA)‐containing α‐olefin monomer 1 using a rac‐Et(Ind)2ZrCl2 ( EBIZr )/MAO catalytic system was investigated to prepare polyethylene with pendent TPA groups. Despite the presence of a large excess of TPA moieties, the polymerization reactions efficiently produce copolymers of high‐molecular‐weight with the comonomer incorporation up to 6.1 mol % upon varying the comonomer concentration in the feed. Inspection of the aliphatic region of the 13C‐NMR spectrum and the estimated copolymerization parameters (r 1 ≈ 0 for 1 and rE ≈ 43 for ethylene) reveal the presence of isolated comonomer units in the polymer chain. While UV–vis absorption measurements of the copolymers show an invariant absorption feature, PL spectra exhibit a slightly red‐shifted emission with increasing content of 1 in the polymer chain. All the copolymers show high thermal stability (Td5 > 436 °C), and the electrochemical stability toward oxidation is also observed. Particularly, the copolymer displays hole‐transporting ability for the stable green emission of Alq3 when incorporated into the hole‐transporting layer of an electroluminescence device. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. N‐Arylcyano‐β‐diketiminate methallyl nickel complexes activated with B(C6F5)3 were used in the polymerization of ethylene. The microstructure analysis of obtained polyethylene (PE) was done by differential scanning calorimetry and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The branched polymer structures produced by these catalysts were attributed to one step isomerization mechanism of the catalyst along the polymer chain. The ortho or para position of the cyano group with co‐ordinated B(C6F5)3 in both methallyl nickel catalysts influenced the polymer molecular weight, branching, and consequently melting and crystallization temperatures. NMR spectroscopic studies showed predominantly the formation of methyl branches in the obtained PE. Catalysts under study gave linear low‐density PEs with good crystallinities at temperatures of reaction between 50 °C and 70 °C at moderate pressures (12.3 atm). A propylene–ethylene copolymer produced by the metallocene catalyst had the same concentration of branches as the PE synthesized from methallyl nickel/B(C6F5)3. Comparing the two polyolefins with the same degree of branching, it was observed that the polymer obtained with the nickel catalyst proved to be twice more crystalline and had greater Tm. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene (E), propylene (P), and 1‐pentene (A) terpolymers differing in monomer composition ratio were produced, using the metallocenes rac‐ethylene bis(indenyl) zirconium dichloride/methylaluminoxane (rac‐Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/MAO), isopropyl bis(cyclopentadienyl)fluorenyl zirconium dichloride/methylaluminoxane (Me2C(Cp)(Flu)ZrCl2/MAO, and bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride, supported on silica impregnated with MAO (Cp2ZrCl2/MAO/SiO2/MAO) as catalytic systems. The catalytic activities at 25 °C and normal pressure were compared. The best result was obtained with the first catalyst. A detailed study of 13C NMR chemical shifts, triad sequences distributions, monomer‐average sequence lengths, and reactivity ratios for the terpolymers is presented. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The reaction of 1, 8‐dilithionaphthalene 2 , with 2 equivalents of rac‐Me(C6F5)PCl, gave a 6 : 1 mixture of rac‐ and meso‐1, 8‐di(methyl‐pentafluorophenylphosphino)naphthalene (dmfppn, rac‐ 3h and meso‐ 3h ), but no reaction was observed when the sterically crowded rac‐tBu(C6F5)PCl was used. In 31P NMR experiments, rac‐ 3h and mmeso‐ 3h exhibited characteristic signals (virtual quintets), which indicate that there is significant coupling through space (3JPF + 7 JPF ≈ 15 Hz). Compound rac‐ 3h was isolated by fractional crystallisation and treated with aqueous H2O2 to yield the corresponding bis‐phosphine dioxide, rac‐ 7h . In contrast to rac‐ 3h , there was no sign of through‐space coupling in rac‐ 7h , which again illustrates that the latter operates via the lone pairs at phosphorus. Platinum(II) complexes were prepared from the new, P‐chiral chelate rac‐ 3h , and the related ligand 1, 8‐di(tert‐butylphenylphosphino) naphthalene (rac‐dtbppn, rac‐ 3e ). All isolated new compounds were characterised by multinuclear NMR and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Single‐crystal X‐ray structure determinations were performed for rac‐dmfppn (rac‐ 3h ), rac‐[PtCl2(dtbppn)] (rac‐ 17e ), and rac‐[PtCl2(dmfppn)] (rac‐ 17h ). rac‐ 3h displays crystallographic twofold symmetry. In rac‐ 17h , the electron‐withdrawing effect of the C6F5 groups causes a shortening of the Pt—P bond to ca. 220 pm (cf. 223 pm in rac‐ 17e ).  相似文献

The kinetics of ethene and propene polymerization at 20–60°C in the presence of the homogeneous catalyst system rac‐Me2Si(2‐methyl‐4‐phenyl‐1‐indenyl)2ZrCl2/methylaluminoxane was investigated by means of stopped‐flow techniques. The specific rate of chain propagation, measured at the very short reaction times typical of this method, turned out to be ≈102 times higher for ethene than for propene; this suggests that diffusion limitations through the poly(ethylene) precipitating at longer reaction times may be responsible for the fact that the two monomers polymerize instead at comparable rates under “standard” conditions. It was also found that the concentration of active sites is significantly lower than the analytical Zr concentration.  相似文献
