Pure and europium doped NaCl and KCl crystals have been irradiated with 60 Co gamma rays and with ultraviolet light. The dose was 10 v kGy and temperatures during irradiation were ambient and liquid nitrogen. The effects of irradiation are determined using optical absorption and thermoluminescence. The role of the europium dopant is compared for the two materials. Factors investigated include the temperature of irradiation, the concentration of the dopant and the state of impurity aggregation and precipitation. A link is indicated between impurity precipitates and UV stimulated thermoluminescence. 相似文献

The paper reports observation of a strong macroplastic effect of weak magnetic and electric fields (B≤0.4 T, E~1 kV/m) when applied simultaneously to NaCl samples in the course of their active deformation at constant rate ?=const. In the absence of magnetic field, electric effects in the macroplasticity of the same crystals become manifest at fields E≥103 kV/m. Quantitative dependences of the macroplasticity on magnetic and electric fields and on the strain rate have been measured. A physical interpretation of the observed phenomena is proposed. 相似文献

We derived new expressions for volume expansion ratio, thermal expansivity and higher order temperature derivative of volume with the change in temperature. The relationships are developed on the basis of suggestion made by Wang and Reeber [12]. We used a relationship demonstrating the temperature dependence of isothermal bulk modulus due to Srivastava et al. [13] to generate various other expressions. The model is applied on NaCl and KCl crystals. The superiority of the presented formulations over other identical formulations is shown. A close agreement between theory and experiment reveals the validity of the present work. 相似文献

The dispersion of the third-order electric susceptibilities(; , , –) and(; , 0, 0) of NaCl and KCl monocrystals has been calculated by means of experimental data on the electro-optic Kerr effect. The result has been obtained by using semi-classical models of anharmonic oscillators. An ionic contribution to the electro-optic coefficients has been presented. From the result obtained it follows that the third-order electric susceptibilities are of the order of 10–22 m2 V–2. 相似文献

In the present study we proposed the empirical relationships for temperature dependence of thermal pressure at atmospheric pressure for NaCl and KCl solids. It is found that the thermal pressure is a complex function of temperature and deviates from linearity in high-temperature region. The temperature dependence of volume expansion ratio is also established with the help of the thermal pressure. A close agreement between theory and experiment reveals the validity of the present work. 相似文献

The usual theories of ultrasonic attenuation (Landau-Rumer and Akhiezer) are in disagreement with experiments involving hypersonic phonons (Brillouin scattering). This is shown here by measurements on NaCl and KCl. We observe a Tn dependence with n approximately equal to 2.8, and an attenuation increasing with temperature in the low and high temperature range respectively. An extension of the Landau-Rumer and Akhiezer theories to hypersonic frequencies is proposed. Our theoretical expressions give a good account of the temperature dependence of the attenuation in the whole temperature range. 相似文献

Using a carrier-free tracer133Ba the temperature dependences of the diffusion coefficientD and mobility of Ba2+ ions in an electric field have been measured on NaCl crystals in the temperature range from 500 to 750 °C. It is shown that the obtained values ofD are not affected by an electric field (30 V/cm) and that the temperature dependence of the mobility of Ba2+ ions is given by(T)=(12·3±1·9) exp [-(1·51±0·09) eV/kT]. Vacancy jump frequencies near a Ba2+ ion and the Gibbs free energy of association of this ion with a vacancy have been calculated in terms of a simple 5-frequency model for impurity diffusion by a vacancy mechanism. 相似文献

The electrooptic effect in lithium niobate crystals (LiNbO3) for extremely high externally applied electric fields of up to 65 kV/mm is investigated. Homogeneous electrooptic refractive-index
changes of up to 4.8×10-3 are found for ordinarily polarized light. No quadratic electrooptic effect is observed. An upper bound for the quadratic
electrooptic coefficient of |s13|≤2.3×10-21 m2/V2 is determined. Electrooptic, angular, and wavelength tuning of the Bragg condition of a thermally fixed hologram are demonstrated.

In the present study we derive new relationships to predict the temperature dependence of elastic constants. Proposed relationships are applied to study elastic constants of NaCl and KCl. A linear relationship between thermal expansivity and elastic constants at high temperatures is found to exhibit for solids. The extrapolated data on elastic constants in very high temperature region obtained in the present study are useful to understand the thermoelastic properties of NaCl and KCl. A close agreement between theory and experiment reveals the validity of the formulations used. 相似文献

Heavy-metal azides (lead, silver, and thallium azides) attract attention of scientists not only because they are common initiating
explosives whose nature of explosion is still discussed, but also because their properties are close (on a number of parameters)
to those of halogenides whose physical properties are well studied. In the present work, based on the analysis and correlations
of polarization-and magnetostrictive effects found in heavy-metal azides, an attempt is made to substantiate the physical-chemical
mechanism of detonation initiation as ionization induced by the electric field.

The plastic flow localization patterns for alkali halide crystals under compression are investigated. The main spatiotemporal regularities of the strain localization at the stages of deformation hardening in these single crystals are established. The relation is traced between the orientation of localized strain zones and the crystallography of slip systems of the test specimens at the initial stages of plastic deformation. The feasibility of using nonmechanical (electrogasdynamic, EGD, and magnetohydrodynamic, MHD) methods to control shock-wave
configurations emerging in supersonic flows is investigated. In the EGD method, the flow is heated by a gas discharge; in
the MHD one, the flow is influenced by a Lorentz force arising in a gas discharge upon applying a magnetic field. The influence
of the gas discharge and MHD interaction on the position of a detached shock wave appearing in a supersonic xenon flow about
a semicylindrical body is studied. A discharge is initiated in the immediate vicinity of the leading edge of the body, and
the variation of the shock wave position with the intensity of the discharge (discharge current density) is traced when the
influence of the EGD action increases and/or an external magnetic field is applied (the influence of the MHD action increases).

通过数值模拟激光驱动下电子在周期性势阱中的动力学行为, 研究了晶体在激光场中发射高次谐波的特性. 研究发现在一定的激光波长和光强驱动下, 晶体发射的谐波谱会呈现出双平台结构, 经分析后得知第一个平台主要来自于最低导带与价带间的电流(电子-空穴对复合), 第二个平台主要来源于较高导带与价带间的电流(电子-空穴对复合), 且两个平台的截止位置处的能量都与激光场的振幅呈线性关系. 在少周期激光驱动下, 晶体谐波第二平台的截止位置与激光的载波相位呈单调变化, 由此我们提出可以利用晶体谐波第二平台的截止位置来确定少周期激光的载波相位. 进一步研究发现, 在啁啾激光驱动下, 晶体发射谐波谱的第二平台有较大变化, 第二平台的发射效率会随啁啾参数而改变, 能够通过改变啁啾激光场来提高晶体谐波第二平台的发射效率. 相似文献
