We perform model searches on smooth Calabi‐Yau compactifications for both the supersymmetric E8 × E8 and SO(32) as well as for the non‐supersymmetric SO(16) × SO(16) heterotic strings simultaneously. We consider line bundle backgrounds on both favorable CICYs with relatively small h11 and the Schoen manifold. Using Gram matrices we systematically analyze the combined consequences of the Bianchi identities and the tree‐level Donaldson‐Uhlenbeck‐Yau equations inside the Kähler cone. In order to evaluate the model building potential of the three heterotic theories on the various geometries, we perform computer‐aided scans. We have generated a large number of GUT‐like models (up to over a few hundred thousand on the various geometries for the three heterotic theories) which become (MS)SM‐like upon using a freely acting Wilson line. For all three heterotic theories we present tables and figures summarizing the potentially phenomenologically interesting models which were obtained during our model scans.  相似文献

Following recent work by Lambiase and Nesterenko we study in detail the interquark potential for a Nambu–Goto string with point masses attached to its ends. We obtain accurate solutions to the gap equations for the Lagrange multipliers and metric components and determine the potential without simplifying assumptions. We study top production at Tevatron collider in the extended BESS model, which is an effective lagrangian parametrization of a dynamical symmetry breaking of the electroweak symmetry. The existence of a colored octet of gauge vector bosons can increase top production at a rate still consistent with recent experimental data and lead to distorsions in the transverse momentum spectrum of the top.  相似文献

Using the Thomas-Fermi quark model,a collective,spherically symmetric density of states is created to represent a gas of interacting fermions with various degeneracies at zero temperature.Over a family of pentaquarks,uudcc,color interaction probabilities were obtained after averaging over all the possible configurations.Three different functions are developed for light,charm,and anti-charm quarks and are assumed to be linearly related by some proportionality constants.Interesting patterns of quark distributions are observed while analyzing the quark function consistency conditions for such constants.  相似文献

We present results for the nucleon magnetic moments in the context of an extended chiral constituent quark model based on the mechanism of the Goldstone boson exchange, as suggested by the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry in QCD. The electromagnetic charge-current operator is consistently deduced from the model Hamiltonian, which includes all force components for the pseudoscalar, vector and scalar meson exchanges. Thus, the continuity equation is satisfied for each piece of the interaction, avoiding the introduction of any further parameter. A good agreement with experimental values is found. The role of isoscalar two-body operators, not constrained by the continuity equation, is also investigated.  相似文献

The dependence of distribution functions of quarks, antiquarks, diquarks and their fragmentation into hadrons on the transverse momentumk t is discussed in the frame of the quark-gluon string model. We then discuss the division ofk t between 2n-quark-antiquark chains, orn-pomeron showers. Hadron and hadron-nuclear processesp?p,p?A,K +?p,K +?A are analysed. A strong dependence of the observed values on the numbern is derived by this method, which is of special importance for the analysis of hadron-nucleus collisions. A sizable difference in top quark pair forward backward asymmetry (AFB) is observed at Tevatron. The discrepancy triggers many new physics beyond the standard model (SM) and then constrains the parameter spaces in them. In this article we calculate the AFB of the top-pair production at Tevatron up to next to leading order (NLO) in the little Higgs model (LHM). We find that the contribution of ZH can be large enough to make up the gap between SM prediction and experimental data. Then, the parameter space for the couplings between ZH and quarks are constrained. Thus, this model can fulfill the experimental data, both in AFB and in cross section.  相似文献

We present a pair of symmetric formulations of the matter sector of the stationary effective action of heterotic string theory that arises after the toroidal compactification of d dimensions. The first formulation is written in terms of a pair of matrix potentials Z 1 and Z 2 which exhibits a clear symmetry between them and can be used to generate new families of solutions on the basis of either Z 1 or Z 2; the second one is an O(d + 1, d + n + 1)-invariant formulation which is written in terms of a matrix vector W endowed with an O(d + 1, d + n + 1)-invariant scalar product which linearizes the action of the O(d + 1, d + n + 1)symmetry group on the coset space O(d + 1, d + n + 1)/[O(d + 1) × O(d + n + 1)]; this fact opens as well a simple solution-generating technique which can be applied on the basis of known solutions.  相似文献

The analogy of a vibrating string to an electrical transmission line with the correspondences of the displacement to the voltage and the rigid end to the short circuit and the calculations for the hammer–string force in the well known finite difference form of the wave equation for a struck string are applied to build a transmission line based struck string model. The proposed model is validated by showing that the displacements and the forces exerted on the string at the contact with a hammer from the proposed model are consistent with those from the finite difference form.  相似文献

We have studied the bulk viscosity of strange quark matter in the density dependent quark mass model (DDQM) and compared results with calculations done earlier in the MIT bag model where u, d masses were neglected and first order interactions were taken into account. We find that at low temperatures and high relative perturbations, the bulk viscosity is higher by 2 to 3 orders of magnitude while at low perturbations the enhancement is by 1–2 order of magnitude as compared to earlier results. Also the damping time is 2–3 orders of magnitude lower implying that the star reaches stability much earlier than in MIT bag model calculations.  相似文献

We study the near horizon geometry of charged rotating black holes in toroidal compactifications of heterotic string theory. We analyze the extremal vanishing horizon (EVH) limit for these black hole solutions and we will show that the near horizon geometry develops an AdS3 throat. Furthermore, we will show that the near horizon limit of near EVH black holes has a BTZ factor. We also comment on the CFT dual to this near horizon geometry.  相似文献

We describe a large new class of four‐dimensional supersymmetric string vacua defined as compactifications of the E8 × E8 and the SO(32) heterotic string on smooth Calabi‐Yau threefolds with unitary gauge bundles and heterotic five‐branes. The conventional gauge symmetry breaking via Wilson lines is replaced by the embedding of non‐flat line bundles into the ten‐dimensional gauge group, thus opening up the way for phenomenologically interesting string compactifications on simply connected manifolds. After a detailed analysis of the four‐dimensional effective theory we exemplify the general framework by means of a couple of explicit examples involving the spectral cover construction of stable holomorphic bundles. As for the SO(32) heterotic string, the resulting vacua can be viewed, in the S‐dual Type I picture, as a generalisation of magnetized D9/D5‐brane models. In the case of the E8 × E8 string, we find a natural way to construct realistic MSSM‐like models, either directly or via a flipped SU(5) GUT scenario.  相似文献
