5‐Methylene‐2‐oxazolidinone (1) and 5‐methylene‐1,3‐thiazolidine‐2‐thione (4) react with various isocyanates to give the corresponding urethanes 3 and 5 in high yields in the presence of palladium(0) or palladium(II) catalyst under mild reaction conditions. Aryl‐furyl substituted pyrazolines 2a–c and 4a–c were prepared by the reaction of α,β‐unsaturated carbonyl compounds with hydrazine or phenyl hydrazine. N‐chloroacetyl derivatives 3a–c were obtained by the N‐acetylation of 2a–c . The antibacterial activities of synthesized pyrazolines were examined by employing the disk‐diffusion technique. All synthesized compounds showed antibacterial effects in 1200 μg concentration. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A convenient method for the synthesis of a novel series of 11, specifically substituted, noncondensed 5,5‐bicycles 2‐[3‐phenyl‐5‐hydroxy‐5‐trichloromethyl‐4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrazol‐1‐yl]‐4‐aryl‐5‐alkylthiazoles ( 3a–k ; 65–94% yield) from the reactions of 3‐phenyl‐5‐hydroxy‐5‐trichloromethyl‐4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐1‐pyrazolethiocarboxyamide ( 1 ) with substituted 2‐bromo‐4′‐acetophenones ( 2a–f ) and 2‐bromo‐4′‐propiophenones ( 2g–k ) is reported. Dehydration of compounds 3a–k with a mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid/chloroform furnished the corresponding 2‐[3‐phenyl‐5‐trichloromethyl‐1H‐pyrazol‐1‐yl]‐4‐aryl‐5‐alkylthiazoles ( 4a–k ) in good yields (61–93%). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (S,S)‐2‐Substituted‐4,4‐diphenyl‐3,1‐oxazabicyclo[3.3.0]octanes were synthesized diaster‐eospecifically from aldehydes and (S)‐2‐(hydroxydiphenylmethyl)pyrrolidine, which was obtained from L ‐proline, under acid‐catalyzed conditions in anhydrous toluene. A series of 2,2‐dimethyl‐5‐(5′‐R‐hetarylidene)‐1,3‐dioxane‐4,6‐diones has been synthesized for examing a structure–activity relationship. Furyl and thienyl derivatives of Meldrum's acid possess neurotropic activity comprising both depriming and activating components. Comparison of acute toxicity of carbon, silicon and germanium analogues in the furan series of the compounds has demonstrated that the germanium derivative is 11.5 times less toxic than the carbon analogue and four times less toxic than the silicon derivative. 2,2‐Dimethyl‐5‐(5′‐triethylsilyl‐2′‐thenylidene)‐1,3‐dioxane‐4,6‐dione has moderate toxicity with the highest neurotropic and cytotoxic activity Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

1,2,4‐Thiadiazol‐5(2H)‐imines 4 react with N‐(2,2,2‐trichloroethylidene)‐substituted amides 5 to form [3 + 2]‐cycloaddition products 6 featured by an extra coordination of the ring sulfur atom to the terminal nitrogen atom of the side 1,3‐diazapropenylidene group, as established by X‐ray diffraction investigation. This coordination evidently plays an important role in the alkylation of compounds 6 into 8 at the oxygen atom under mild conditions. The S N bond “switch‐over” restoring the original 1,2,4‐thiadiazole ring occurs therewith. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The reaction of tris(2‐pyridyl)phosphine oxides with benzeneselenenyl chloride in methanol gave the corresponding 5‐phenylseleno‐2,2′‐bipyridyls together with a small amount of 2,2′‐bipyridyls. Similarly, the reaction with arenesulfenyl chlorides in aqueous acetonitrile afforded two kinds of coupling products, 5‐phenylthio‐2,2′‐bipyridyls and 2,2′‐bipyridyls. While in the reaction with arenesulfinyl chlorides in aqueous acetonitrile, four corresponding bipyridyl derivatives, 2,2′‐bipyridyls, 5‐arylthio‐2,2′‐bipyridyls, 5‐arylsulfinyl‐2,2′‐bipyridyls, and 5‐arylsulfonyl‐2,2′‐bipyridyls, were formed. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The copolymers of 2‐methoxy‐5‐2′‐ethyl‐hexyloxy‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene (MEH‐PV) and 2,3‐diphenyl‐5‐octyl‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene were prepared via the Gilch route with their chain compositions and the reactivity ratios of the monomers estimated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The results indicated that the copolymers tended to form an alternative copolymer as the feed ratio of the monomers closed to one‐half. When an individual copolymer solution in tetrahydrofuran was spun‐cast to form a film, the MEH‐PV units were able to attract the like units from the adjacent chains. As a result, the ultraviolet–visible absorption spectrum of the alternative copolymer in film form was broader than the spectra of those with different compositions. The photoluminescence spectra of the copolymers in film form exhibited the characteristic shoulder of poly(2‐methoxy‐5‐2′‐ethyl‐hexyloxy‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene), even though the content of MEH‐PV units was not great enough for the formation of repeat units in sequence. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New 5′‐acetyl‐3′‐1,3,4‐thiadiazoliminothymidines 11, 14 were prepared, via spontaneous rearrangments, by cycloaddition of 5′‐acetyl‐3′‐deoxy‐3′‐isothiocyanatothymidine 9 with 1‐aza‐2‐azoniaallene hexachloantimonates. Similary, 3′‐cyano analogue 19 was reacted with the same cumulenes to furnish 3′‐1,2,4‐triazolo‐thymidines 22, 24 , and 26 . The hitherto unreported 4‐oxo‐1,3,2‐benzoxazastibinines 2 have been synthesized by the cyclization of disodium salt of salicylanilide ( 1 ) with Ar3SbBr2 (Ar = Ph, p‐tolyl, or mesityl).
