We shall develop a method to prove inequalities in a unified manner. The idea is as follows: It is quite often possible to find a continuous functional : n , such that the left- and the right-hand side of a given inequality can be written in the form (u)(v) for suitable points,v=v(u). If one now constructs a map n n , which is functional increasing (i.e. for each x n (which is not a fixed point of ) the inequality (x)<((x)) should hold) one specially gets the chain (u)( u))( 2(u))... n (u)). Under quite general conditions one finds that the sequence { n (u)} n converges tov=v(u). As a consequence one obtains the inequality (u)(v).  相似文献

We consider the approximation by piecewise-constant functions for classes of functions of many variables defined by moduli of continuity of the form (1, ..., n ) = 1(1) + ... + n ( n ), where i ( i ) are ordinary moduli of continuity that depend on one variable. In the case where i ( i ) are convex upward, we obtain exact error estimates in the following cases: (i) in the integral metric L 2 for (1, ..., n ) = 1(1) + ... + n ( n ); (ii) in the integral metric L p (p 1) for (1, ..., n ) = c 11 + ... + c n n ; (iii) in the integral metric L (2, ..., 2, 2r) (r = 2, 3, ...) for (1, ..., n ) = 1(1) + ... + n – 1( n – 1) + c n n .  相似文献

Let {n} be a sequence of identically distributed independent random variables,M1=<0,M 1 2 <;S 0=0,S n =1+2,+...+ n, n1;¯ S=sup {S n n=0.} The asymptotic behavior ofP(¯ St) as t is studied. Let be a random walk with independent identically distributed increments . We study the ratios of the probabilities P(S n >x) / P(1 > x) for all n and x. For some subclasses of subexponential distributions we find upper estimates uniform in x for the ratios which improve the available estimates for the whole class of subexponential distributions. We give some conditions sufficient for the asymptotic equivalence P(S > x) E P(1 > x) as x . Here is a positive integer-valued random variable independent of . The estimates obtained are also used to find the asymptotics of the tail distribution of the maximum of a random walk modulated by a regenerative process.  相似文献

We generalize the well-known fact that for a pair of Morita equivalent ringsR andS their maximal rings of quotients are again Morita equivalent: If n (M) denotes the torsion theory cogenerated by the direct sum of the firstn+1 injective modules forming part of the minimal injective resolution ofM then n (R)= n (S) where is the category equivalenceR-ModS-Mod. Consequently the localized ringsR n (R) andS n (S) are Morita equivalent.  相似文献

Let Sn be the set of all permutations of the numbers 1, 2,..., n, and letl n() be the number of terms in the maximal monotonic subsequence contained in Sn. If M[l n()] is the mean value ofl n () on Sn, then, for all except a finite number of n, the bound M[l n()] e n is valid.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 13, No. 4, pp. 511–514, April, 1973.The author wishes to thank E. A Sturmian word is a map W : {0,1} for which the set of {0, 1}-vectors F n(W) {(W(i), W(i + 1),...,W(i + n – 1)) T : i } has cardinality exactly n + 1 for each positive integer n. Our main result is that the volume of the simplex whose n + 1 vertices are the n + 1 points in F n(W) does not depend on W. Our proof of this motivates studying algebraic properties of the permutation ,n (where is any irrational and n is any positive integer) that orders the fractional parts {}, {2},...,{n}, i.e., 0 < {,n (1)} < {,n (2)} < ··· < {,n (n)} < 1. We give a formula for the sign of ,n , and prove that for every irrational there are infinitely many n such that the order of ,n (as an element of the symmetric group S n) is less than n.  相似文献

On a measurable space (T, , ) we choose an additive measure: Z (Z is a Banach space) with the following property: for alle , we have ; this measure defines an indefinite integral over the measure onL 2 (T, ,). We prove that if { n (t)} n =1/ is an orthonormal basis inL 2 and n (e)=e n (t) d, then any additive measure: Z whose Radon-Nikodým derivatived/d belongs toL 2 is uniquely expandable in a series(e)= n =1/ n n(e) that converges to(e) uniformly with respect toe can be differentiated term-by-term, and satisfies n =1/ n /2 <. In the caseL 2[0,2],Z=, the Fourier series of a 2-periodic absolutely continuous functionF(t) such thatF'(t) L 2[0, 2] is superuniformly convergent toF(t).Translated fromMatematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 64, No. 2, pp. 180–184, August, 1998.  相似文献

Letx t u () be a stochastic control system on the probability space (, ,P) intoR n. We say that the pointxR n is (, ) attainable at timet if there exists an admissible controlu such thatP xo{x t u ()S (x)}, wherex 0()=x 0, 0, 10, andS (x) is the closed Euclidean -ball inR n centered atx. We define the attainable setA (t) to be the set of all pointsxR n which are (, ) attainable at timet. For a large class of stochastic control systems, it is shown thatA (t) is compact for eacht and continuous as a function oft in an appropriate metric. From this, the existence of stochastic time-optional controls is established for a large class of nonlinear stochastic differential equations. This research was supported by the National Research Council of Canada, Grant No. A-9072.  相似文献

Summary Between the operations which produce partial maxima and partial sums of a sequenceY 1,Y 2, ..., lies the inductive operation:X n =X n-1(X n-1+Y n ),n1, for 0<<1. If theY n are independent random variables with common distributionF, we show that the limiting behavior of normed sequences formed from {X n ,n1}, is, for 0<<1, parallel to the extreme value case =0. ForFD() we give a full proof of the convergence, whereas forFD()D(), we only succeeded in proving tightness of the involved sequence. The processX n is interesting for some applied probability models.  相似文献

The non-commutative torus C *(n,) is realized as the C*-algebra of sections of a locally trivial C*-algebra bundle over S with fibres isomorphic to C *n/S, 1) for a totally skew multiplier 1 on n/S. D. Poguntke [9] proved that A is stably isomorphic to C(S) C(*( Zn/S, 1) C(S) A Mkl( C) for a simple non-commutative torus A and an integer kl. It is well-known that a stable isomorphism of two separable C*-algebras is equivalent to the existence of equivalence bimodule between them. We construct an A-C(S) A-equivalence bimodule.  相似文献

Let X 1,..., Xn be independent random variables such that {Xj 1}=1 and E X j=0 for all j. We prove an upper bound for the tail probabilities of the sum M n=X1+...+ Xn. Namely, we prove the inequality {M nx} 3.7 {Sn x}, where S n=1+...+ n is a sum of centered independent identically distributed Bernoulli random variables such that E S n 2 =ME M n 2 and {k=1}=E S n 2 /(n+E S n 2 ) for all k (we call a random variable Bernoulli if it assumes at most two values). The inequality holds for x at which the survival function x{S nx} has a jump down. For remaining x, the inequality still holds provided that we interpolate the function between the adjacent jump points linearly or log-linearly. If necessary, in order to estimate {S nx} one can use special bounds for binomial probabilities. Up to the factor at most 2.375, the inequality is final. The inequality improves the classical Bernstein, Prokhorov, Bennett, Hoeffding, Talagrand, and other bounds.  相似文献

In this paper equivalent classes of the classes M' and S' p r, p >1, 0,r {0,1,2,...,[]} defined by Sheng [5] are obtained. Then it is shown that the classes of Fourier coefficients S p, S' p(case r==0) and S p(), p>1, defined by . V. Stanojevi, V. B. Stanojevi Sheng and the author of the present note are identical. As a corollary of this result, the L 1-estimate for cosine series, obtained in [10], is refined.  相似文献

We show that for any simple piecewise Ljapunov contour there exists a power weight such that the essential norm |S | in the spaceL 2(, ) does not depend on the angles of the contour and it is given by formula (2). All such weights are described. For the union =12 of two simple piecewise Lyapunov curves we prove that the essential norm |S | inL 2() is minimal if both 1 and 2 are smooth in some neighborhoods of the common points. It is the case when the norm |S | in the spaceL 2() as well as inL 2(, ) does not depend on the values of the angles and it can be calculated by formula (5).  相似文献

Summary In this paper we solve the functional equationx(u + v)(u – v) = f 1(u)g1(v) + f2(u)g2(v) under the assumption thatx, , f 1, f2, g1, g2 are complex-valued functions onR n ,n N arbitrary, and 0 and 0 are continuous. Our main result shows that, apart from degeneracy and some obvious modifications, theta functions of one complex variable are the only continuous solutions of this functional equation.  相似文献

Let (S nn>-1) be a random walk on a hypergroup ( + , *), i.e., a Markov chain with transition kernelN(x, A) = x * (A), where is a fixed probability measure on + such that the second moment exists. Then depending on the growth of the hypergroup two situations can occur: when ( + , *) is of exponential growth then it is shown thatS n is asymptotically normal. In the case of polynomial growth {more precisely, if the densityA of the Haar measure of ( + , *) satisfies lim[A()/A()]=}, the normalized variablesS n/[n Var()/(+1)]1/2 converge to a Rayleigh distribution with parameter .  相似文献
